She cleared her throat. “Lolo, what do you think about ShaKita not having a boyfriend?”
Lauren shrugged her shoulders as she drove down Bobby Jones Expressway. “I don’t think anything of it. Kita doesn’t strike me as the type that can’t get a man.”
“Me either,” Bianca said. “But what if she didn’t want a man,” she hinted.
Lauren looked over at her with a funny frown on her face. “What do you mean?” She grinned at her sister’s probing.
“Kita is strictly dickly,” she confirmed like she knew the absolute truth.
“So you don’t think there’s no hanky panky going on with her and a chick?” Bianca asked.
“Nah, I think that she’s just low key with whatever she’s got going on. I mean, who could blame her? Kerry’s marriage fell apart. Here I am hoping for someone’s marriage to fall apart, and Janay has the perfect marriage, but there is the mother-n-law from hell that’s doing everything in her power to tear that marriage apart.” She shook her head. “Who could blame Kita for trying to keep her love life private?” She said as her cell phone began to ring. She looked over at Bianca, rolling her eyes up in her head then answered the phone.
“Jamal, what in the hell do you want? I thought I told you that it was over.”
“Sweetheart, please quit acting like this. It’s been over a week and I miss you and our son like crazy.” He said.
“You miss this sweet pussy, those nice back massages, the late night dinners, and bootleg movies that we sit up and watch since you can’t take me to the movies for real.”
“Well they do play good,” Jamal slid in. “Except for the Chinese writing at the bottom, but even that ain’t bad.”
“I ain’t playing with your ass,” Lauren said. “I’m done with this shit until you make some kind of move. I don’t care if you choose to stay with your wife as long as you’ve made a choice. It’s just not gonna be me and her. That shit has so long ago played out.” She boldly stated.
“Sweetheart, just le’me see you and my son.” He pleaded.
“I’ve given you nothing but time to see your son, but you’re the one that takes that time for seeing me. Just because he’s small doesn’t mean that he’s not going to remember time spent with you. Plus, if you wanted to be with your son around the clock then you’d leave your wife like you’ve been claiming to do for years now.” She said.
“You keep pressuring me,” Jamal stated. “It’s driving me crazy.”
“Well it should drive you crazy. I don’t have anything else to say to you until you make up your mind. Don’t call my phone, don’t show up to my apartment, and stay away from my son.” She said knowing that he’d try to go to the daycare and pick him up just to bring him home so he could see her. “People are always talking about ratchet bitches but what about ratchet niggas?” She smugly commented then hung up in his face.
Bianca grinned but had her own opinion about that situation. “I think it’s great that after six years you’re finally standing up for yourself, but I think you should’ve been kicked that nigga to the curb.”
“Just give credit where credit is due and leave well enough alone.” Lauren said not even wanting to get into it.
“I hate that Kerry has gone through this for years with that scrawny ass Justin, but then to have our sister as the other woman trying to take someone else’s husband is totally different. I know Kerry must feel some type of way when she’s around you.” She said not caring how Lauren took it.
Lauren parked her 2013 Acura then looked over at Bianca with a sideways look. “This is coming from the sister that has her second and her fourth child by a married man. CHY PLEASE!” She irritably stated clearly showing an attitude. Bianca wasn’t shocked that she went there because they’d hit each other with many low blows over the years.
“I’ma let you have that, okay,” Bianca said really wanting to unleash some of that whip ass on her right quick.
“Yeah, whatever,” Lauren responded. She didn’t care at the moment because Bianca had touched one of her nerves and she felt a bit pissed about it too. So what if she was mad; join the club.
Lauren unbuckled her son and walked inside of Wal-Mart, leaving Bianca inside the car. She did leave it running so she could run the heat, but she started to take the keys just so her ass could freeze.
Bianca sat in the car feeling some type of way about Lauren’s smart remark. It took everything in her not to reach over and slap the hell out of her, but she was working on herself. First, the bitch wanted her to move on with a man that she didn’t know just two weeks after her boyfriend’s death then tries to throw her past up in her face because she doesn’t want to face her own bullshit.
What kind of fuck shit is that?
She questioned herself.
Bianca had her head rested back on the passenger seat just wanting to clear her thoughts. She hated arguing with her sisters, but sometimes there was no way around it. Out of the blue, she sat up and looked out of the window. After doing a double take three quick times she realized that she’d spotted Jamal’s wife heading into Wal-Mart. This was crazy to her, because Jamal’s wife had already rolled up beside them at the Burger King drive thru once and cursed their asses out then pulled off. She could never forget a mean looking face like that.
“Damn,” she whispered opening the car door to immediately get out, but then closed the car door shut again. The man that was trying to holla at her, the week prior, at the Olive Garden had been spotted walking past Lauren’s car too like he was also heading into the supermarket.
“Damn,” she whispered again. No sooner than those words could escape her lips Lauren came stepping out of Wal-Mart with the baby in her arms. Bianca’s eyes widened.
“Damn,” she called out as Lauren and Jamal’s wife came face to face yet again.
**********
Jamal’s wife stared directly in Lauren’s face then her eyes slowly eased their way over to the baby. Meeting them was unexpected, but to her it must’ve been meant to be. At first she was quiet as she eyed down the little boy that resembled her husband so much. It hurt like a motherfucker as she stood there trying to catch her breath.
“He looks just like Jamal.” She whispered with tears in her eyes.
Lauren was caught completely off guard. For two years she hadn’t heard a peep out of anyone besides her sisters and her parents about Jamal being her son’s father. Now all of a sudden, his wife had started hounding her about the man and involving their child. She stood there not knowing what to say, because she knew that she was in the wrong. She wanted to confess and get it over with, but how could she tell this woman that the kid that she was inquiring about was indeed her husband’s child. There was no way that she’d get over that and just let it go.
“So is this my husband’s son?” She asked still trying to fight back her tears.
“Look lady, I don’t know what you’re talking about and why you keep following me, but please leave me and my son alone. I don’t want your husband whoever he is.” She said hoping to clear up some of the tension so she could quickly leave.
The whole time the bickering was going back and forth; Bianca sat in the car quietly watching them. She definitely didn’t want to get out now because a small crowd had started taking notice as they’d either walk slowly by totally engaged or completely stopping to straight up be nosey.
“I’ve tried to be nice to you and you didn’t even know it. How do you think you’re living in that nice apartment? How do you think you’re riding around in a new Acura? How do you think you’re able to splurge here and there when my husband feels the need to make up?”
“I don’t know,” Lauren said as if those were the only words that she could think of at the moment.
“Because I’m aware that he has a mistress,” she admitted. “I’ve known about you for years, but I can’t stop a man from doing nothing that he wants to do. I could’ve left, but the truth is that I love him and he’s all I know.”
“I’m not gonna do this out here.” Lauren said now noticing the people that were noticing them.
“The one thing that I can’t give him you already have.” She said looking back over at the little one. “Do you expect me to take this laying down?” She asked as her voice rose. “I know your hoe ass is waiting for him to leave me, but that will never happen. He will never leave me for a ratchet ass bitch that lies up with another woman’s husband. He might fuck the dog hell outta you, but he doesn’t love you the way he loves me.”
Lauren was confused by the confrontation and all she wanted to do was get the hell out of there. “Okay lady, you’re delusional.” She said then attempted to walk off, but was snatched around by Jamal’s wife as she grabbed her arm.
“Is that my husband’s child?” She adamantly pondered.
“YES!” Lauren yelled out. “Are you fucking satisfied? Now let my arm go!” She insisted, but what she got was so much more and definitely unexpected. Jamal’s wife had suckered punched Lauren so hard in the eye that she and the baby fell back in a stranger’s arms.
“You muthafuckn’ ratchet ass bitch! You got the nerve to tell me to my face that this lil bastard is my husband’s and be smug about it.” She screamed, but she wasn’t expecting what was next.
Out of nowhere, Bianca cold cocked Jamal’s wife so hard in the face that blood immediately shot from the cut on her jaw. “IF YOU EVER PUT YOUR STANKN’ ASS HANDS BACK ON MY SISTER I’LL KILL YOU BITCH!” Bianca yelled out as the people grabbed her. “WHO HITS A WOMAN WHILE SHE’S HOLDING HER BABY, ANYWAY? YOU GOT ME AND MY SISTER BENT!” She was beyond pissed as a few onlookers made sure that they got to their cars. Bianca didn’t realize that the guy that was carrying her to the car was the same guy that had tried to holla at her the prior week. If he wanted to holla then she was most sure that he didn’t now after seeing the real Bianca show her true colors as he put inside the car.
Chapter9
It was the afternoon of Thanksgiving Eve and the Ware sisters were starting to pull up at their modest, two story, six bedroom family home. The night sky had started to creep in early due to the time going back an hour. The wind blew lightly through the air causing a really sweet stir surrounding the Family home as the sisters started pulling up one by one.
ShaKita pulled up in the driveway first then reached for her cell phone inside her purse. She was happy to be spending the evening with her family, but she was sad because she couldn’t bring her new lover around them. The phone rang twice and a light sweet voice could be heard on the other end.
“Hey babe,” Coco answered.
“Hey baby,” ShaKita responded. “What are you doing?”
“Just sitting over your place in a short white t-shirt and no panties,” she said causing ShaKita to smile. “Since I couldn’t tag along with you, I guess I’ll make myself at home here.” she pouted.
“Baby, you know I hate when you’re sad, but I haven’t told my family about us yet. I have five sisters and none of them have any problems with liking another woman. I’m the only one.”
“Don’t feel bad. You can’t help who you love.” Coco reminded her.
“You’re right and I love you so much.” ShaKita informed her. Never did she think that she’d be so crazy in love over a woman. “One day I promise I’ll introduce you to my family and they will love you, simply because I do.”
“I hope that one day will be soon. With my parent’s living out of town and not being able to go home to be with them for the holiday really makes me wish that I was surrounded by the love of others, especially you.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll slip outta here early and give you as much love as you need.” ShaKita said causing Coco to blush.
“Okay now,” she said with a smile. “I’m going to hold you to that.”
“Please do,” ShaKita responded as she noticed the lights from Kerry’s 2012 Cherokee Jeep pulling in behind her.
“Well baby, my sisters are starting to pull up.”
“Maaaan,” Coco pouted.
ShaKita felt bad inside leaving her girlfriend home alone in her apartment while she was out enjoying herself with her family. “I’ll be home soon, baby. I promise I’ll make this up to you.” She said then they ended their call. No sooner than she could open her car door Kerry was already walking up with a few bags in her hand.
“Hey Sis,” Kerry spoke kissing ShaKita on the cheek. “I see the party is getting started at the Ware’s Family home.” She said listening to the fairly loud music coming from inside the house.
“Hey Sis,” ShaKita spoke back. “You know this Thanksgiving is going to be especially special to our parents. We’d almost lost one of us a few weeks ago.” She said as the nippy breeze in the air had the girls talking clouds of smoke.
“You’re right so we definitely have a lot to be thankful for.” Kerry agreed. “Who is here already?” Kerry asked looking around for Lauren’s car.
“I’m certain that Bianca and Janay are here unless they left to go run some errands for Mom or Dad.” She said because for the moment those two were living there.
“Lauren should be right behind me,” Kerry said. “I spoke with her about an hour ago and she said that she was just waiting for her apple pies to finish baking then she was coming.”
“I can’t wait till she gets here.” ShaKita said with a smile as they made their way up the stairs and to the front door.
Kerry shook her head with a grin. “I knew your greedy ass would say that.” ShaKita laughed then opened up the front door to the smell of Thanksgiving dinner cooking in the house. It was one of the best smells in the world and the only thing that genuinely made her smile.
