Lauren, without a doubt, was one of the funny sisters, so her presence was certainly missed. However, so much cooking, dancing, old story telling, loud laughing and playing around with the kids and ShaKita as taste testers, of course, was so much fun. Meanwhile, Lauren was still at home basking in her heartbreak.

Janay didn’t want to think much about her husband being in Marietta with his smothering mother. So she tried her best to tune him out during the times they weren’t sneaking in a conversation over text or phone. She enjoyed the many jokes and laughs with her siblings, though. It was always cute and refreshing to see their mom and dad treat each other like they’d just met; it was straight priceless. Just watching this made Janay even that more determined to hold on to her husband.

Kerry enjoyed her night just as much any everybody else did, but she especially enjoyed kicking it with Bianca. The girls hadn’t laughed and talked like that in quite some time and it felt good. In between spending time with her family, Justin kept calling with his see through game, but Kerry was already on it. For some reason the conversation felt different and for a change he was actually considered likable. Even though he wasn’t her favorite person walking, she still enjoyed his corny jokes and sensible acts of kindness that they shared.

ShaKita danced the evening away then made up an excuse to dip out early. She’d had fun with her family and even more fun once she’d gotten back home. She woke up happy as hell as she licked her lips and smiled at her baby. She’d left Coco in a trembled daze after putting a licking so good on that kitty that she didn’t even want the dildo afterwards. She didn’t feel like she’d been taught to eat pussy but more like born to eat pussy. There was no way Coco was leaving her with a magical tongue that good.

Bianca hadn’t sat with the family in a long time like that. She was the wild card and no one ever knew what plans she had. She felt that the night was nice spending time with her children; especially the baby girl. She reminded her so much of father and she missed him like crazy. She knew that Kory was an enabler, but that’s because he loved her and just wanted to see her happy. He had plans for them though and that was to get their shit together. He wasn’t a big drug user but he’d drink the hell out of some beer. She knew that she was his bad habit even though everyone thought he was hers. The man seriously wanted to marry her and that’s all she ever wanted, but even now that seemed unattainable.

Lauren sat on her couch still hurt over the pain that Jamal had caused her. She couldn’t believe how much denial she’d been over the years. She’d been in some no good ass relationships with niggas, but nothing like what she experienced with Jamal. He was a pathological liar that sucked her in from the moment they met.

She knew that her family was having their annual Thanksgiving Feasting and it was to take place later that evening but she wasn’t up to it. Her facial expression and body language would automatically alert them that something was going on with her.

She sighed, looking around the quiet apartment then resting her head back on the couch. Moments later, her cell phone rang. Once she saw the name on the caller ID she answered it.

“Happy Thanksgiving Sis,” she spoke trying to sound enthused.

“Happy Thanksgiving to you too Sis,” Bianca spoke back then cleared her throat. “What happened to you last night?”

“Wow, you don’t waste any time.” Lauren responded.

“That’s because I know you and something happened besides you dropping some damn pies that stopped you from coming here. Now what happened?” Bianca wasn’t the least bit interested in sugar coating the situation. She wanted it raw and she wanted it right now. Lauren cleared her throat wanting to tell all, but she was unsure with Bianca.

“You may as well gon’ and tell me. I know you ain’t holding back because you think I’m gonna tell it.” Lauren sat quiet, because it wasn’t that. It was just that Bianca was the type that would throw it back in her face as a low blow to get under her skin.

“No, it’s not that,” Lauren responded.

“Good, because that would be Mr. and Mrs. Ware’s middle child that talks like that,” Bianca grinned to lighten the situation.

Lauren laughed. “Oh you got jokes now,” she said knowing that she was that middle child who Bianca was referring to. “Okay, I’ll tell you.”

“Le’me first guess,” Bianca teased. “It had something to do with Jamal’s old grimy, ratchet ass.”

“Haha,” Lauren said with sarcasm. “You’re really on one today aren’t you?”

“Yep, now do tell.” She said eagerly listening.

“So me and your nephew are leaving the crib to head over that way and guess who comes pulling up directly in front of us?”

Bianca’s lips tooted up. “Jamal,” she quickly answered.

“Yes, but you know that I don’t want anything to do with him so I kept walking. B, this nigga gets out the car and follows me to my car. You know I ain’t have time to hear his
I’m so sorry
bullshit so I strapped my baby in and was getting ready to leave when this nigga’s crazy ass wife pulls up out the blue.”

“Say what now?” Bianca asked attentively listening at this point. “That bitch ain’t touch you did she?”

“Oh, nah she didn’t even act like she wanted too, because I would’ve been ready for that bitch. I had my keys in my hand too.” She arrogantly stated. “I would’ve keyed that bitch face so bad Jamal would’ve had to call his insurance company to get that shit fixed.”

Bianca laughed. “That’s right,” she responded knowing that all of her sister’s had buck in them. It just took a different amount of shit for each one to get heated enough to strike back. “Well, what did her scarecrow looking ass say?”

“Too much,” Lauren said with an unbelievable shake in her head.

“Damn,” Bianca responded already figuring that it must’ve been bad; especially to make her miss out on their family gathering.

“It was bad, B.” She admitted. “When Gail, as he called her, walked up to us, this nigga straight up told her that he was breaking things off with me as if I hadn’t already left his ratchet ass a couple of months ago.” She hissed. “He was the one that kept coming around me, not the other way around.”

“He act like that ugly bitch run him?”

Lauren shook her head as if Bianca had to be present to see it. “B, the man is a straight pussy.” She said still feeling like a fool. “Can you believe that since his wife works months, even years out of the country or state that she allows him to date other women here,” she confessed. “She said that I wasn’t his only play toy but that I was the one dumb enough to get pregnant by him.” Bianca sat quiet, because she also thought that her sister was crazy to get pregnant by a nigga that she’d just found out lied to her for years.

“B,” she called out since she hadn’t answered. “Bianca, I know you’re not thinking the same thing?”

“Well, did you?” Bianca asked with no hesitation.

“No, I didn’t and I’m appalled that you would think I did.”

“Hell, I didn’t know what to think,” she said just being honest. “Well, if you didn’t get pregnant on purpose then what happened?”

Lauren sat there feeling like a straight fool after thinking back. “He switched out my pills,” she said.

Bianca frowned with confusion. “He did what?” She pondered.

“I could remember catching him with my pills before but he claimed that he was making sure that I’d been taking them because he felt like I was trying to get pregnant by him. Well, he said it like a joke and we laughed about it then let it go. Needless to say, I got pregnant soon after. So somehow the muthafucka switched them out, because I was faithfully taking them.”

“Damn, that nigga is ratchet as fuck for doing some hoe shit like that,” Bianca said with her mouth partly open from the information.

“Same thing I said, Sis. How the fuck could I get caught up with somebody like that?”

“I don’t know, but that’s just how it is sometimes. The ones we love and will do whatever in the fuck for are the ones that shit on us in the end.” She said then thought about her baby daddy. “But not my Kory,” she said. “Un-uh, we were gonna get clean and he was going to help me get better.”

“Aww Bianca,” Lauren said feeling sorry for her sister. Here she was talking about a no good ass snake still walking around to hurt more women when Bianca’s love was now gone for good.

“I try to imagine him being out of town or across seas fighting war or something; anything except believing he’s completely gone.” She sadly said. She missed him so much and every time she looked in her baby girl’s face, she saw him.

“We deal with losses the best way we know how, B. So whatever makes you feel better,” she said. “Think what you have too to get through.”

“Thanks Sis,” Bianca said. “Well, I hope that you’re coming over today. You better not sit home and let that nigga ruin your life. If I can get through Kory’s death then you should be able to get past that grimy ass nigga.”

Lauren thought about it. “You’re right, Sis. I’m not letting this nigga run my life like his ugly ass wife is running his,” she said. “I’m about to cook some fresh pies and I’ll be over later.”

“That’s what I wanted to hear,” Bianca said. “Love you, Lolo.”

“Love you back, B.” She responded and they ended their call.

Kerry woke up to see that it was still early morning hours as she looked over at her alarm clock. She rolled over and screamed in her pillow after hearing the doorbell ring. She sighed while thinking that with the children still being with Justin that she could sleep in a later. Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happen since the doorbell was ringing again. She dragged herself out of bed still feeling the Patron shots that they’d taken that night then slipped on her pink robe and her bedroom shoes. The wooden floor was much too cold to walk on it barefoot that early in the morning.

“Who is it?” she called out making her way down the hallway. Once to the door she asked again. “Who is it?”

“It’s me,” the familiar voice called out. Kerry peeked out the peep hole and gently rolled her eyes.

Really,
she thought then cracked the door open a little. “Justin what are you doing over here at eight in the morning. The kids are supposed to be with you. Where are my kids?” she asked still talking through the crack of the door.

“The kids are at my house,” he answered. “I’m out getting us breakfast this morning since they’ll be with you later this afternoon.”

“Shannon doesn’t cook?” She nosily asked with a smirk on her face.

“She can do a lil a sum sum, but the kids don’t take well to her cooking so I ordered us all breakfast from the Huddle House.” He said.

She snickered. “That’s a damn shame.” That within itself told her that if nothing else he missed those good meals that she cooked for him.

He didn’t want to pressure Kerry because at one point in his life he did love her, but after fourteen years, things had fizzled. She was busy with her career and the kids which left no time for him. Even date nights weren’t fun anymore and the talks they had never resolved anything. The weight she’d put on caused her to be self-conscious and it was nothing that he could do to make her get past it. Once he’d finally left she figured that she’d get herself together and he hated the fact that she had to wait so late to do it.

He tried to push the door open. “Le’me in so I can look at you. I just wanna sniff you,” he said sounding like a horny dog.

Kerry laughed out loud. “You see enough of me and there will certainly be no sniffing.” She said remembering how he used to love to kiss on her neck and sniff her perfume like it was the best smelling scent in the world.

“I got something for you,” he said holding up a card in his hand.

Kerry’s eyes widened. “What… You got me a card. When was the last time you got me something like this?”

“Come on buttercup. Quit acting like that. I come over bearing gifts and you treat me like a stranger on the streets. Plus this damn wind is cuttn’ the shit outta my ears.” He said now remembering what he was leaving at home; his skull cap.

Kerry eased the door on open because the brisk wind was easing up her robe and causing her to feel the unpleasant chill that he was feeling.

“Come on in, but you can’t stay long.” She said. “Plus, you need to go feed my kids.”

He grinned at her, but stood back to watch how sexy she’d gotten while standing there in her short pink mini robe. Her legs had trimmed and her stomach was sure to be back flat in a matter of a few short weeks.

“You are seriously looking good,” he said then handed her the card.

Kerry smiled at his compliment. “Thanks, I’m working hard to get myself back in shape.”

“Well, it’s showing,” he responded as he watched her open the card. It was just a simple Happy Thanksgiving card, but it had her favorite thing inside it; the Benjamin’s.

“Wow,” she said counting the money. It was twelve, one hundred dollar bills.

“You may as well go ahead and get the kids whatever they need for Christmas.”
