Shannon was shocked. From what Justin had told her over the years, she didn’t think that Kerry had a tough side to her at all, but boy was she fooled. “I don’t understand why you’re so bitter. You and Justin aren’t even together anymore,” she explained like that made it better.

“Justin and I aren’t together anymore because you and him were playing house behind me and my kids backs.” She said with an angry roll of the neck. “So don’t you ever expect any respect from me and don’t you ever think that you’ll play
MAMA
to mine, either. Don’t let Justin fool you. I’ll have your ass sitting up at night crying like I used to be when he was somewhere laying up with your ratchet ass.” She said feeling herself from the weight that she’d been losing. Shannon had already peeped game while checking out her new appearance. Her long auburn hair was loosely curled and on point while her make-up was flawless. Looking this good definitely made Shannon feel just a wee bit insecure knowing that Justin would always have to deal with his ex-wife because of the kids.

“I was only trying to help,” Shannon spoke up.

“Well, you can help by disappearing before I insist on helping you with that.” Kerry said then graciously walked off in her fitted DKNY Jeans, white Cashmere sweater, and white UGG Boots. The white Coach bag with the gold straps set off her entire laid bad attire.

Shannon rolled her eyes as she stood there dressed in a purple fitted Dolce and Gabbana sweater dress with the matching stiletto suede boots. She had a bad ass purple Dolce and Gabbana purse hanging on her wrist, but nothing topped Kerry’s curves in those jeans. Her ass was to die for as Shannon watched her sashay it all the way to her ride. She was feeling envious because Kerry looked better dressed down than she did dressed up. She walked off certainly feeling like she had to step up her game, because there was no way in hell that she was letting Justin go back to her.

Mr. Ware pulled out Mrs. Ware’s chair so she could comfortably sit down at the table. Bianca smiled to herself at the show of affection that her father always showed their mother. Then one by one, Janay, ShaKita, and Bianca waited for him to make it to them to do the same thing. If nothing else Mr. Ware always taught his girls how a real man was supposed to treat them.

Once everyone was seated a pretty, short waitress made her way over to the table with a basket of bread sticks. Mrs. Ware smiled from ear to ear. Besides the wine, the bread at Olive Garden was her favorite.

“Hi, my name is Coco,” she spoke. “I’ll be your waitress this evening. “What can I start you off with to drink?”

Mrs. Ware looked over at her and smiled. “You were our waitress the last time,” she said, remembering the cute waitress and her spunky short hair cut that fit her small face perfectly.

“I believe I do remember y’all.” She said glancing over at ShaKita. “Because this is your daughter,” she said.

“Yes,” Mrs. Ware answered. “Actually all of them are my daughters and this handsome man is my husband, their father.”

Coco smiled. “Nice to meet you all,” she spoke then began to take their drink orders.

As they sat at the table eating the very tasty garlic bread, Mrs. Ware looked over at Bianca and smiled. The talk they’d had made her feel so much better. It seemed that she’d somewhat gotten through to her because Bianca promised to do better and to start spending time with her kids more. She was hurt and the tears that she’d cried were real. Mrs. Ware always had a soft spot for her daughter, but when listening to her pour out her heart earlier touched her deeply. Bianca wasn’t one to show emotion unless that coming from an angry place. For some reason it was quite different seeing her in such a vulnerable state and willing to share her feelings.

“I’m glad that we were able to come here on one accord.” Mr. Ware said feeling good to have four of his favorite ladies at one table sharing a very nice meal over decent conversation.

“Me too,” Bianca said. “I know that I’ve not been a poster child and I’m still a work in progress, but please know that I’m going to work on myself. I love you Mommy and Dad.” She said causing them to smile. “And I love my sisters too.” Her willingness to be quite open about her feelings caused Janay and ShaKita to smile.

“Aww, I feel so much love at this table today,” Janay said.

“We love you too dear,” Mr. Ware spoke for everyone. Then immediately drank from his glass of tea no sooner than the waitress could sit it down.

“So, Janay how do you like being home?” He questioned.

“I love it. I gotta admit Dad, being in Marietta is no walk in the park when Finn’s mom still doesn’t care for me.”

“I don’t know what her problem is,” ShaKita cut in with an ugly frown on her face. “Her son is a grown man with his own mind and I’m sure that he’s who he wants to be with.”

“She thinks that he’s just going through a phase and that I’ve somehow influenced him since I’m six years older than him.”

“That sounds so foolish,” ShaKita said rolling her eyes then pushing her chair back from the table. “Excuse me, I have to go to the restroom.” She left the table not even wanting to entertain such crazy talk without wanting to beat the Holier than thou’s ass.

Janay drank from her lemon water then proceeded. “It’s this woman that’s been a member of their church since she and Finn were youngsters. Her name is Heather. Apparently she and Finn have a little more history than just being choir buddies,” she said with an annoying drag. “The thing that separated them was Finn moving here to Augusta some years ago, because of his job transfer.”

“Why didn’t he bring her with him?” Mrs. Ware asked.

“Because he didn’t see himself being with her anymore,” Janay answered. “He broke things off with her prior to leaving, but she’s not giving up as long as that mom of his is in the picture. She wants them together so bad. He says that she believes the union between the two of them will bring enormous love and an abundance of blessings will continue to shower their church.”

“I don’t think that I’ll ever want to meet this woman,” Mr. Ware said with a grin. “I’ve never held an ill bone in my body for no one but hearing of this woman always makes me think the worst of her.”

“She is too much,” Mrs. Ware commented. “It’s her biological brother that’s the Senior Bishop, right?”

“Well correct me if I’m wrong, but he is the one that fills in for the Bishop when he’s not able, right?”

“That’s usually how it works, but Mama Carter isn’t having it this time. She just wants Finn home so bad so he’d be that much closer to her controlling his every move. It’s funny how I see that the key to getting him tied up in that church is just the beginning.”

“I think I’ve heard enough,” Bianca said not caring to get worked up over something that had nothing to do with her. “I need to excuse myself for a moment.”

“Are you okay?” Mrs. Ware asked.

“I’m fine, Mommy. I’m tryna see what’s taking Kita so long.” She said thinking that she had probably snuck outside to get her puff on right quick before they served the food. That was one party she didn’t want to miss out on.

“Okay, and tell her to come on back so the waitress can take our orders,” Mrs. Ware said then directed her attention back to Janay. “I’m sorry baby, but your mother-n-law sounds delusional.” She spoke not at all happy that Finn’s mother didn’t care for her daughter but their family loved her son like their own. It was indeed a strange twist of fate as she disappointedly shook her head then drank a little wine from the glass.

“I can’t help that he loves me and I love him. That’s my husband and she need not think that she’s going to come between us.” Janay said feeling so tired of Finn’s mom trying to come between them.

“Well you know we’re here if you need us,” Mrs. Ware assured her.

Meanwhile, Bianca had walked into the ladies restroom and went straight over to the mirror. She stood there staring at herself. Her shoulder length, straight black hair was now pulled up in a hanging ponytail and her face was plain with no make-up. She backed up to look at her laid back attire. She had on a black pair of fitted Levis, a quarter sleeve fitted Levi shirt and a pair of black UGG boots. Her low key swag always showed in the clothes she wore. Plus, she never knew when she’d have to beat a bitch ass. Once washing her hands it dawned on her that she hadn’t ran into ShaKita yet.

“I can’t believe she went to smoke without me,” she whispered thinking that it was strange of her to park behind Olive Garden and come in through the back exit anyway. But then she smugly smiled with a nod of the head. She’d figured that the back entrance was quicker access to the restroom for her to clean up afterwards. She exited the bathroom and walked straight to the back door exit. She peeked outside but didn’t see ShaKita in her car.

“Oh my DAMN!” a light voice whispered.

“Shhh, be quiet.” Another voice said.

Bianca slowly turned with a smirk on her face as she glanced over at a door across from her. A sign was clearly in place that hung on the door and read: Closed for Maintenance

This better not be Kita in here gettn’ her freak on with the cook.
She thought then quietly eased the surprisingly unlocked door open. An evil grin spread across her face as she stood there watching her baby sister on her knees, holding one of Coco’s legs around her neck, and enjoying a good drink from her fountain of goods. Her slurps were so in it and Coco’s eyes were so far back in her head that they didn’t even know that Bianca was watching until she loudly cleared her throat.

“WHAT THE FUCK!” ShaKita said jumping up so fast that she almost knocked Coco off of her feet.

Bianca grinned. “Aren’t you’re a little ratchet ass biotch,” she commented in a very light and smug tone. “No wonder we’ve not seen a man around since you left poor old Ralph.” She relentlessly teased.

“Close the door back, B!” ShaKita demanded. “I mean it and don’t you say a word!”

“Okay Okay,” she arrogantly grinned. “Oh” she said turning back to them with her index finger in the air. “Mommy wanted you to hurry up so you could order your food, but since you’ve enjoyed yourself a hearty portion of seafood I’ll tell her to just order you a salad… With Chicken,” she chuckled softly then exited the room as she shut the door behind her. ShaKita stood motionless from shock with her mouth still partly open and her secret in the hands of the unpredictable one.

Chapter8

Bianca and Lauren sat on the couch in the family room watching a bootleg copy of the movie
Baggage Claim.
The picture was very nice and clear. The only distraction was the Chinese subtitles at the bottom, but it wasn’t bad enough that they couldn’t enjoy the movie.

“Where do you get these movies from, B? They always play so good.” Lauren said.

“I know people everywhere.” She commented with a sly grin.

“For some reason I can believe that,” Lauren commented. “My life seems like that lady’s life in the movie. I can’t seem to find a good man for shit. If he’s good for me I don’t want him and if he’s bad for him I’m over attracted to him. Geeeeeesh!” She annoyingly said covering her face.

“Well, I personally ain’t looking for one.” Bianca sadly said.

“Mom told me that your trip with them to Olive Garden last week turned out to be pretty good. She told me about the hot guy that was there tryna talk to you.” She smiled. “And that the nigga was driving a Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Coupe!” She excitedly said. “What’s up with that?”

“Nothing,” Bianca nonchalantly responded. She wasn’t at all materialistic and definitely wasn’t feeling another man at the moment.

“Mom said that he was very handsome and it seemed like he was giving you his number. I mean, B,” she said trying to encourage her to move on. “It’s been at least a week now since you met him. Why have you not thought about calling him?”

Bianca stared over at her sideways as if she could slap the taste buds off of her tongue. “Are you being serious right now?” She asked. “My boyfriend hasn’t been in the ground a good two weeks now and you’re asking me if I’ve called another nigga.”

Lauren immediately felt bad. “Well, B I didn’t mean it like that.” It occurred to her that just because she didn’t like Kory didn’t mean that Bianca didn’t love him. “I’m sorry,” she sympathetically apologized. Bianca didn’t respond. She just nodded her head agreeing to accept. “Hey, ride to Wal-Mart with me. You don’t have to get out. I’m just running in there to grab Royce a phone card. I promised him that I’d get him one since his minutes run out tonight.”

Bianca stood up and stretched. “Well, since you’re getting something for my boy then I guess I can ride,” she teased with a smile.

“It ain’t like your ugly ass got nothing else to do anyway,” Lauren teased.

Bianca laughed and shook her head. “If I’m ugly then all of y’all are ugly.”

Lauren thought about it for a brief second. “Yep, you’re right about that one.” She chuckled. “Hold up, le’me grab my lil man.”

“Glad mine are with Dad,” Bianca said as if this was their first time being away from her.

On the way to Wal-Mart Bianca looked over at Lauren. For a week, it had been killing her to not mention ShaKita eating pussy like it was a well deserved appetizer. She didn’t want to bust her out, but maybe another one of the sisters knew besides her.
