“Hey Sisters,” Bianca spoke as she made her way down the stairs and over to her sisters. She hugged and kissed them softly on the cheek. The show of affection that she’d been showing lately seemed like she’d finally started getting it. “Where are the rugrats?”

Kerry laughed. “Justin will be dropping them off tomorrow before we eat Thanksgiving dinner.” She said.

Bianca looked over at ShaKita. “And why is your face so long?” She asked being that she could clearly see through that happy front that she’d so thickly covered herself with.

“Nothing,” she responded. “I’m good.”

“Yeah, I hear you,” Bianca responded. “Janay is upstairs running my battery dead since her clumsy ass can’t find her phone.”

“She ain’t found that phone yet?” Kerry asked thinking that it had to be somewhere inside the house because Janay hardly ever went anywhere.

“Nope, she hasn’t,” Bianca responded. “But I told her to pay those rugrats of mine to look for it and she’ll have it back in less than ten minutes.” She said causing them to laugh.

“So I guess Mom and Dad are in the kitchen?”

“You already know it. Just follow the sounds of the Soulful Oldies CD that Lauren made for them.” Bianca said with a smile.

ShaKita smiled. “We heard
Marvin Gay, Let’s Get it On,
jamming all the way outside. I knew then that I was at the right house.” They laughed.

“Okay, well I’m heading in here where Mom and Dad are at probably smooching like teenagers,” Kerry said still holding the bag of groceries that she’d brought over to start preparing her chicken and dumplings and her infamous Red Velvet cake.

ShaKita looked at Bianca just standing there with a smile on her face. “Le’me use your phone right quick,” Bianca said with her hand held out.

ShaKita laughed. “The last time that I let you use my phone you stole it and my car.”

Bianca laughed. “Remember the dude that was tryna holla at me when we were at Olive Garden that night?” She said. “I think I’m gonna go ahead and call him.”

“Well, in that case,” ShaKita smiled handing Bianca her phone then heading into the kitchen where their parents and Kerry were. She quickly turned as she thought about something. “Oh, If Coco calls, don’t answer it. I’ll just call her back.”

“Yes, Ma’am,” Bianca said as she stepped out on the front porch to make a call.

Meanwhile, upstairs in the Ware family home, Janay was on the phone with Finn. She’d been talking to him for the past thirty minutes because she was afraid to hang up the phone. She leaned up in the recliner chair trying to get comfortable.

“Have they made it there yet?” She asked speaking of Heather and her parents.

“No babe, they haven’t,” Finn told her.

“I don’t see why your mom decided to cook a Thanksgiving dinner and ask that they come over to spend it with y’all. You’re supposed to be here with me.” Janay said with an irritable pout.

“My father has been feeling better these past few days and my mom suggested cooking him a big Thanksgiving dinner since I’m home. You know I can’t miss seeing my father enjoy this holiday. Plus, Mom invited Heather’s parent’s over because they’ve all been best friends since forever. She knew that would make him happy.”

“Yeah, I bet.” Janay said already feeling the heat stirring up in Mrs. Carter’s kitchen.

“Sweetheart, just calm down,” he said. “The only reason why Heather is even showing up is because her boyfriend is overseas and she didn’t want to be alone.”

“Well, he needs to make his way back home before she goes missing fucking around with me,” Janay commented.

Finn grinned. “Sweetheart, you’re a Bishop’s wife,” he said. That was one of the things he loved about her spunky personality. She might’ve kept her cool when it came down to his mom, but she didn’t play any games with him.

“Your mom is up to no good and I just wish that you could see it.” She said.

“My mom can be up to whatever she wants to be, but she can’t make me love someone that I don’t and she can’t make me be with someone when I’m already committed to my wife.”

Janay smiled. “You better be,” she said.

“I am,” he responded.

“Finn,” Mrs. Carter called out. “Heather is out there. I think that you should go to the door.”

“Wait one minute,” Janay said. “Did she just say Heather? Where are her parents at? And why can’t she go to the door?”

“Calm down sweetheart,” Finn said as he made his way to the front door. He hated to think that his mother was being somewhat conniving to get her way, but it definitely seemed like it.

He opened the door and smiled as he greeted Heather with the phone up to his ear. “What’s up Heather,” he spoke.

“Hey Finn, thanks for having us over,” she said walking in and giving him a hug. “Mom and Dad should be pulling up right behind me.”

“Okay, well Mom is in the kitchen so you’re welcome to go in there. I’ll just be in the other room talking to my wife,” he said. Janay smiled just to hear him say that, but shit was definitely real with Heather there and Mrs. Carter hell bent on destroying their marriage.

Across town Lauren was trying to get out of her apartment with the pies in one hand and the baby holding on to her fingertips. As she stepped down off of the stairs Jamal pulled up right in front of her.

“Lord, why won’t he get the picture?” She said just wanting things to be over with.

Jamal quickly jumped out of the car and made his way around to them. Immediately he picked up his son then started talking to Lauren as she continued walking straight to her car.

“Baby, just le’me talk to you,” he pleaded.

“We have nothing to say to one another. Your wife is psycho and I don’t want any parts of you as long as you’re attached to her. I’m actually starting to not want any attachments to you whatsoever besides those involving my son.”

“I don’t know why Gail would do the things that she’s been doing lately,” He said like that would make her feel better.

“Sounds like a woman scorned if you ask me,” Lauren uttered as she unlocked the doors to the car.

“And I wonder who scorned her?” Jamal asked with sarcasm in his voice. “It wasn’t just me,” he said sounding like a man that was heading for destruction.

Lauren smugly grinned. “Nigga don’t do me. It was your ratchet ass,” she responded with a roll of the neck. “Let’s not get it twisted. You played me for three years thinking you were single only to find out that your WIFE was across seas working for The National Security System as a Civil Engineer.” She grinned. “Hell, I wouldn’t have ever thought a woman that smart could end up with a man as stupid as you.” She opened her car door. “I should’ve left your ass when I found that fake ass card of endearment as if she was so excited that you had purchased her a house. That bitch knew what time it was all along. That was OUR HOUSE,” she said with emphasis shaking her head while thinking back at the card which exposed all of Jamal’s dirty secrets. “No wonder she said that she’d always known you had a mistress. It seems the woman keeps more tabs on me than you do and you think I wanna be with you?” She pushed him in the chest. “Hell No!”

Jamal was hurt, but he deserved it. His intentions upon meeting Lauren was to lure her in like he was weak and vulnerable then make her love him. The first time he saw her was like love at first sight and all he wanted her to do was notice him. Once she was hooked he made sure that it would be hard for her to leave him. He was just like a loyal boyfriend that proved his love over and over again. He moved her out in the quiet part of the country inside a nice three bedroom house and since he drove nice whips, she did too. He fucked her mind, body, and soul every chance he got.

“Don’t just stand there and look at me like I’m crazy.” She said, because Jamal was out of lies and his games were over. He knew that once she’d found out that he was married that she would leave him but he fought for her. He loved her more than his wife, but his wife took care of him, of them. Even after Gail had found out about Lauren she didn’t lose it. She allowed him to keep his lil fling since she was gone more than she was actually home. Their marriage was a strange one, but one that worked up until she’d gotten whiff that he and Lauren had conceived a son.

He stood there with tears in his eyes thinking back at a time when he’d do anything to keep her. He knew that his wife would only let him play for so long, but he didn’t want to lose Lauren. So one day, he switched out her birth control pills with small sugar candy look-a-likes. Sadly, she didn’t even know the difference and not long after that she realized that she was pregnant.

“Lauren, I know I’ve fucked up some kind of bad, but I love you,” he said while his thoughts were still trying to catch up to his words.

“REALLY NIGGA!” The voice called out from the black BMW 750. It was Gail and she had run up on them so fast that neither saw her coming. “I knew that your ass was coming over here! Just can’t stay away from this bitch!” She yelled. Lauren was unafraid of the lil scarecrow looking heifer, but didn’t know what the psycho bitch would do after pushing her while she was holding her son.

“I was just calling it off,” Jamal quickly said already knowing that his wife had a few screws missing. Even he couldn’t understand how a woman that smart could be so dumb.

“I don’t want him no more anyway,” Lauren snapped while looking directly in Gail’s face. “A woman shouldn’t have to fight so hard to be with a man if he really wants to be with her. You can have him.” Lauren said then turning to get inside her car since her son had started putting up a fuss in the backseat.

The cries from the baby caused Gail to look towards the baby in the car then back at Lauren. She shook her head. “You think I’m the stupid one don’t you?” She complacently asked. “I might have my issues, but he’s my husband so don’t tell me what I can have when he’s already mine. I allowed you time to play with him while I was gone.”

Lauren frowned with a nonchalant grin. “You sound like a damn fool,” she told her.

Gail raised an annoyed eyebrow as if she was offended. “No, you look like a damn fool because you’re not the first playmate I’ve allowed him to have. You’re just the ratchet ass bitch he fell in love with.” The look on Lauren’s face was of pure unexpected shock as she looked over at Jamal with tears in her eyes.

“Guess he didn’t tell you that did he?” Gail boasted. “You’re just the crazy bitch that found out about his wife then got yourself knocked up.”

“I didn’t get pregnant on purpose if that’s what you think.” She snapped back in her defense. “I was taking my birth control pills faithfully.”

Gail paused for a moment. “Oh you were? Well, I wonder how that happened.” She said looking over at Jamal with a side eye. Lauren looked over at Jamal too. It didn’t dawn on her that he would do something that low but then again they were talking about Jamal; the world’s biggest liar.

“Did you?” She asked then shook her head. “Did you do something underhandedly?” Jamal couldn’t even answer her because Gail was waiting for him to lie. Lauren dropped her head as her hands started anxiously trembling like her nerves were on edge. “Wow,” she whispered feeling like the dumbest person on earth.

“Keep the car,” Gail unsympathetically said. “And don’t worry he’ll take care of his child, but you and him are over.” She looked over at Jamal like she wished he would, but he knew better. He wouldn’t.

“I don’t need him to do anything for my son besides leave us the hell alone,” Lauren responded as the tears started to fall. She was indeed hurt that Jamal had lied to her over and over again like he was leaving his wife. When all along she had him wrapped around her finger so tight that he could barely breathe; he couldn’t leave.

“I suggest you say your good-byes and let’s go,” Gail sternly ordered then walked off. She didn’t care to hear what they had to say at that point because she’d dropped enough salt on Jamal that no woman in their right mind would want to stay; child or no child.

“We have nothing else to discuss,” Lauren said, but she stood there as if her feet were glued to the ground because she wanted to leave, but she couldn’t. This man had hurt her to the core and she was partly to blame for staying in something so unreal. Her lips parted but nothing came out as she begin to think back at how his wife had disrespected her with her son and how he’d played her to unimaginable lengths. Before he knew it, she had slapped the spit from his mouth catching him totally off guard as he grabbed his jaw. She then turned her back to him and got inside her car, but before leaving she let the window so she could stare the lying bastard in the face. “And to think you actually loved me,” she said. “You lying son of bitch! Stay away from me or I will take out a restraining order on you and your controlling wife.” Jamal didn’t say a word as he watched her leave him standing there feeling like the lowest scum in the world.

Chapter10

Thanksgiving morning was upon the Ware family before they knew it. They’d had a peaceful night together since Bianca only drank wine and chopped it up with her their parent’s, Kerry, ShaKita, Janay and the kids. Lauren never showed up, but called with some lame excuses about her pies falling as she exited her house and that just killed her entire mood for the night. She did promise to show up the next day once she’d cooked more pies to bring.
