Subject: Business license for Joke Itch or Joke Chafe

Dear Mr. Nancy

Thank you for your letter, dated November 27, 2009, regarding your pending application for a business license with the City of Downey. Unfortunately, the City of Downey has no existing records for an application of a business license for the comedy club JOKE ITCH or JOKE CHAFE. Please provide an address so the city can research the matter further.

Notwithstanding the submittal of a business license, the City of Downey Municipal Code requires approval of a Conditional Use Permit, prior to commencing business with live entertainment (including comedy clubs). The Conditional Use Permit is a discretionary action, which requires a public hearing before the City’s Planning Commission. Furthermore live entertainment may not be permitted within all zones of the city.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please feel free to call me at (562) 904–7154 or email me at

Dec 18, 2009

Dear Mr. Sebastian Rodriguez, City Of Downey:

Thank you for writing me back on my business license. Downey is a city that should be proud of the care its employees take to help others.

I believe my application for my Comedy Club was filed under the name: JOKE OINTMENT. Can you please check for me on this?

JOKE OINTMENT is a comedy club, 41 tables in a medical area. All har har signs have been made, all paper cups paid for, all comedy club food is on order including fried waffles, cheese tugs, and dippin’ sauce. (we may have cheese cups; definitely cheese shout outs)

We have already hired our Headlining act, booked and paid for: Tickles The Diseased Clown. Come in for a free Tater Squinch. We leave the eyes on.

So can you PLEASE tell me how I can finally get my license and what happened to my application so i can open in this medical area for a successful business in your city? I have copies of everything if you need. (May be under earlier name of JOKE SALVE)

Once again, I sincerely appreciate your help in this matter.

Respectfully,

F. D. Nancy

Dec 7, 2009

Dear City Of Norwalk,

Can you tell me what happened to my application for my business license? I own a comedy club called: JESTICLES.

I had sent in the paperwork and fees and have not received anything to date. JESTICLES is a 150 seat comedy club in your city that I am opening. We will have food. (taters)

I had filled out all the papers and stamped them and my check has been cashed. Papers were filled out by our manager Marteen Lim. Corky Chocolo is our opening headliner. Followed by Bill Peeps. They have been paid. My FLYER is printed up and distributed.

I was told to write you with this information when I called to track this down.

Thank you for your help.

Respectfully,

F. D. Nancy

Dear Business Owner:

The City of Norwalk requires all organizations operating within the City to have a business license. However I don’t believe that you filed a business license application with the City of Norwalk. I have checked our files and have found no record of an application being filed or a check being cashed for a comedy club named Jesticles, of course it would have helped had you provide the address / location of this comedy club. We only issue business licenses to businesses that are either located or operating in the City. Perhaps you filed your application with the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office here in Norwalk; it is located at 12400 E. Imperial Hwy., Norwalk, CA 90650.
