Chapter 21
All my friends say I can do better than you.
-Missy Elliott featuring 702, “Beep Me 911

Jade was sound asleep in her bed when someone began to ring her doorbell repeatedly like a maniac. Startled, but afraid that whoever was at the door would wake up the baby, she quickly rolled out of bed to see who it was. Jade didn't even bother to cover up the fact that all she wore was a tank top and panties. She was so sleepy she was surprised that she hadn't stumbled and busted her ass on the way to the door.
“Who is it?” she asked, digging her panties out of her butt.
“Me,” Mills said, drunkenly.
Since his early-morning meeting with Farrah he'd done nothing but drink himself to death. It wasn't like drinking wasn't a part of his everyday routine at this point anyway. He'd become a stone-cold drunk. He'd gone from bar to bar getting hammered. He didn't give a fuck. He was rich. He could do whatever the fuck he wanted. He'd rather be drunk on a cloud far, far away from his problems.
Mills would rather do anything but deal with his demons. The only time he wasn't hammered was when he came to visit his daughter. Mills always made sure to sober up for that. But the minute he would leave Jaysin, he would be right back to hitting the bottle. Vodka had become his best friend, confidant, and support system. It was reliable, always easy to reach, and always there when he needed it, unlike his wife.
“What are you doing here so late?” Jade asked, opening the door. “Is something wrong?”
“Nah,” Mills shook his head and braced himself in the doorway.
He was so drunk he couldn't even stand up straight. Everything around him was spinning.
“I'm good. I came to see my daughter,” he said, with a bottle of Ketel One vodka in his hand.
“You do realize it's going on four o'clock in the morning?” Jade replied, smelling the liquor on his breath. “She's asleep, what you should be doing right about now.”
“Fuck that! Go wake her up!” Mills yelled, spilling vodka everywhere.
“If you don't shut the hell up!” Jade covered his mouth with her hand. “Get in here.” She yanked him inside.
“Damn girl! Your hand tastes finer than a muthafucka!” Mills slured his words as he ran his tounge on Jade's hand, “And you ain't got to be pulling on me like that,” Mills griped.
“Shut up!” She snatched the bottle of liquor from his hand. “I'm getting ready to go back to bed, 'cause unlike you I have to be up in a few hours.”
“For what?” Mills burped. “You ain't got no job.”
“Really nigga?” Jade spat back, placing her hand on her hip. “I have to get up and take care of your daughter.
Our
daughter; whom you see only once or twice a week now. Nigga don't do me like that.”
“Aww, calm down.” Mills waved her off, taking off his jacket. “Get ya' panties out ya' ass. It was a fuckin' joke.”
“Whatever,” Jade said, going back to her room.
“Wait on me!” Mills followed behind her.
“Uh-uh.” Jade spun around and placed her hand on his chest, stopping him. “Where you think you going?”
“To bed wit' you.” Mills pushed her hand away and bypassed her.
“This nigga done lost his damn mind,” Jade said out loud to herself.
Not in the mood to argue with a drunk man, she allowed Mills to sleep in their old bed together. By the time she reached the room he'd already kicked his shoes off and was lying down. It had been almost two years since he last slept in that bed with her. The sight instantly brought back old feelings that she'd tried to bury. Jade couldn't pretend like she didn't still love Mills. They'd been together six years before they broke up and he got with Farrah. And now that she had a child by him, they had a bond for life.
At one point they were like two peas in a pod. They were best friends and inseperable. She would have never though things would turn out like they had. She was fully aware that it was her fault they broke up, though. They had grown apart and she was bored. She thought the grass would be greener on the other side—but boy, was she wrong. She stepped out on Mills and after her failed “relationship” with Rock, Jade quickly realized she'd made a huge mistake by toying with Mills's heart. She pushed him into Farrah's arm. But that was then and this was now. Here he was lying in their bed like he used to and it gave her hope that maybe—just maybe—they had a future together. In bed, Jade pulled the covers up and lay on her side.
“Good night,” she spoke softly.
“Good night.” Mills rolled over onto her side of the bed and wrapped her up into his arms.
Jade was so stunned by his sudden show of action that she didn't know whether to push him away or go with it. The warmth of his body and having a man hold her made her go with the flow. After not being touched, caressed or held for over a year, Jade genuinely forgot how important it was for a woman to have those things in her life. Nothing beat receiving that treatment from a man you loved and adored.
Jade tried her hardest to go back to sleep, but she was shook by Mills's display of affection. He was married and made it perfectly clear that he loved his wife, so what the hell had changed? Farrah would be pretty damn upset if she knew that her husband was lying in bed with his baby mama with his hard dick pressed up against her ass check. The feel of it had Jade's emotions spinning out of control. She wasn't that grimy girl she used to be. She wasn't trying to get caught up sleeping with somebody else's husband.
But on the other hand, though, there was no way she could lie there and act as if her panties weren't wet as hell. She wanted to feel it, taste it, sit on it, ride it. Jade closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It was now or never. Turning over, she looked at Mills's face. He was sound asleep, but his sexy lips were begging her to kiss them. Jade quietly leaned over and softly kissed him. The first time Mills didn't budge, but the second time he began to stir in his sleep.
By the third peck he'd started to kiss her back. Next thing either of them knew they were in a full-blown make-out session. His hands were all over her and hers were all over him. Eager to finally touch and feel the hard dick throbbing in his pants, Jade eased her way down his chest and unzipped his jeans. Mills's thick dick instantly sprung out of his boxer briefs. Jade's mouth immediately began to water upon sight.
It was like she was a hungry tiger ready to devour her prey. Jade took Mills's dick into her mouth with a vengeance. The girth consumed her, but she relished the taste and how long it was. If there was one thing Jade could do better than most chicks, it was suck a dick. Ironically, she used to hate doing it, but over the years she'd mastered it. It had become an art to her. She was expertly skillfull at giving head. There were many different techniques she could do with a man's penis. She knew how to stroke it with her hands and how to simultaneously use her tongue to enhance the pleasure. She loved to torture and tease the man when she was going down. She learned to stay in full control. She bobbed her head up and down Mills's long shaft and watched with glee as he groaned.
“Goddamn,” he uttered, watching her do her thing.
It turned him on to the fullest to see his dick appear and disappear in her mouth. He hadn't come over for sex, but he damn sure wasn't going to pass it up either. Mills closed his eyes and savored the slurping noises that filled the quiet room.
“You like that, baby?” Jade licked her lips, coming up for air.
“Fuck Farrah,” Mills groaned, not even realizing he'd called out the wrong woman's name.
“What the fuck did you say?” Jade sat up on her knees. “Did you really just call me Farrah?”
“Huh?” Mills asked, still reeling from the sensation of her sucking his dick.
“You just called me your wife's name! Get the fuck out!” Jade snapped, hitting him in the face with a pillow.
“What I do?” Mills blocked her hits with his hands.
“You really gon' call me by another bitch name and then have the nerve to ask me what did you do? Get out! Get out! Get out before I catch a case!” Jade got out of bed and stood, awaiting his departure.
“C'mon, Jade, quit trippin'. My bad, I ain't mean to. I'm drunk.”
“Okay and I don't mean to put yo' ass out, but I am. You got me all the way fucked up.” She waved her hands in the air. “What I look like? If you wanna be wit' Farrah so bad then go be wit' her retarded ass, but you not about to use me in the process!”
“Nobody's tryin' to use you.” Mills sat on the side of the bed and faced her. “Can you just calm down and stop yelling.” He held his head, trying to steady his vision.
“No, I can't! I just sat there and sucked your li'l lousy ass, drunk dick and you called me your wife's fuckin' name!” Jade screeched.
“She's not my wife anymore!” Mills barked. “She told me she wants a divorce!” Mills hung his head low.
Jade stood speechless. She had no idea that things between Mills and Farrah had gotten that bad. For a while now she had secretly wished they would divorce so she could have Mills all to herself again. She knew they were having troubles, but not of that magnitude.
“Sorry to hear that,” she uttered, not sure of what else to say. “But that still don't take away from what you did.”
“Look, I ain't mean to call you by her name. I'm drunk and I'm trippin'. I just . . . really need you to be here right now for me. I can't go back home,” Mills revealed.
Although Jade was still highly upset, in a strange, twisted way she felt sorry for him and joy for herself. She felt sorry for Mills because she could tell that he was in so much pain. He'd been in pain for weeks now and she never liked to see anyone she cared for in pain. Despite everything Mills had done, at the core of him was a good man. She felt joy for herself because this was the opportunity she'd longed for for so long. She wasn't trying to be a home wrecker and she respected Mills and Farrah's marriage regardless of her personal feelings about Farrah. But now that Farrah had asked Mills for the divorce, Jade could finally make moves and work on her happily-ever-after story.
“Don't ever do no shit like that again.” Jade walked over and stood in between Mills's legs.
“I'm sorry.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his head on her stomach.
Jade rubbed the top of his head and smiled like a Cheshire cat. This was the moment she'd been praying for for months.
Thank you, God
, she thought. This was her opportunity to get her man back. They could finally try to be a real family. Deep down she believed with all her heart that she and Mills belonged together.

It was the middle of winter. A few months had gone by and Farrah sat firmly perched inside a sterile conference room waiting for her lawyer. This was the day she'd been working toward for months. It had been a struggle to get there, but here she was, seconds away from finalizing her divorce. In less than an hour, she would legally be freed from her unhappy marriage and she could close that chapter of her life.
It was funny because she'd never expected to feel any kind of anxiety. Her palms were sweaty and she couldn't sit still. She had never expected things would turn out like this between her and Mills. She had loved that man with every fiber of her being and she always thought their love would stand the test of time. She had prayed and prayed that they'd somehow be able to work it out, but life and God had a different plan for them. And now, here they were, about to end it all.
“Farrah?” Her lawyer entered the conference room.
“Hi, Sharon,” Farrah stood and shook her hand. “How are you?”
“I'm doing fine. The question is, How are you? Are you ready for this?” Sharon took a seat at the table.
“Yes,” Farrah said, inhaling deep.
Now that the moment was a reality she was struggling with her choice. Had she given up too fast? Had she allowed her emotions to cloud logical thinking? Despite Mills's transgressions, she did still care for him. Farrah had no time left to ponder over the
should've, could've, would've
s, though. It was time for her to sign the divorce papers. There was no turning back now.
After Farrah and her lawyer had reviewed all of the paperwork and the divorce was officaly finalized, Farrah met up with London and Camden for lunch at Prime 1000 Steakhouse. Farrah had to treat herself to a fabulous meal after the strenuous morning she had. Prime was an award-winning restaurant that prided themselves on providing their guests with seasonally influenced food.
“So how did everything go?” London asked over drinks.
“It's done.” Farrah forced a smile.
“Hallelujah.” London waved her hands in the air like a woman in church. “Ding-dong the witch is dead.”
“Really, London?” Farrah shot a stern look.
“Yes, ma'am. You should be praising God too. Fuck Mills. He is a pathological liar. Everything he does is on creep mode. Ugh!” London screwed up her face. “I'm glad you got rid of that nigga.”
“Well, tell us how you really feel,” Camden said, sarcastically.
“I'm just sayin' she should have never married his ass in the first place,” London continued with her rant. “You were too good for him. He didn't deserve you.”
“Have you talked to him?” Camden asked.
“Nope.” Farrah shook her head. “I haven't seen or spoken to Mills since the day I met with him at the coffee place and told him I wanted a divorce. I have no idea what he's been up to.”
