“You’ll never get a girl at this rate. Cheryl has already introduced me to girls who had their come-outs last year.” Dylan had gotten up and started wandering around as he talked. “She introduces me when we go out to restaurants. The girls are so hot. They watch me fuck Cheryl. I know one of them was waiting until I turned golden, and now she is mine for the taking.”

“Hey, can we go look at the grotto?” Dylan asked as he started to head into the courtyard.

“Sure,” Jacob agreed. As they walked through the sliding glass doors, Jacob looked over and saw Kylie frozen in shock, realizing she had heard their conversation. He froze for a moment too, but his face hardened. Without a word he followed his friend to the courtyard grotto.

Kylie left her breakfast in the dining room as she ran quietly to the bedroom, shutting the door behind her. She flopped on her bed, tears streaming down her face before she realized that even here she was not immune from hearing their conversation. They hadn’t closed the bedroom doors to the grotto this morning. She couldn’t get away from hearing more painful dialog.

Their bed faced the hot tub. She watched with trepidation, hoping they wouldn’t use it. Sure enough, they were stripping down to enter the water. Fortunately they were facing away from her as they entered the pool. She saw Dylan go over and rummage in the refrigerator. To her horror, he was pointing at the small vials of oil.

“I’ve been meaning to ask, what the hell are all of these oils?” she heard Dylan ask Jacob.

“They are for Kylie,” Jacob replied in a monotonous tone.

“Yeah, but what are they?” Dylan insisted. He could sense a sensitive subject.

“They are oils,” Jacob answered him again, this time with a little more heat.

“What are the oils for? Where do you put the oil?” Dylan asked. She could see his smile from the bed. It was mocking and derisive.

“On her clit you asshole, it’s so she doesn’t get sick,” Jacob said, this time back to his monotonous tone. “I have to dab her with the parchment, then rub the oil on her clit.”

“She gets sick from having sex with you?” Dylan sounded shocked as well as amused.

“Yes, no,” Jacob blurted out. “I don’t know.”

“So, you wipe her pussy then rub this oil on her clit?” Dylan taunted.

“God, you are an asshole,” Jacob replied. “Drop it.”

Kylie looked around the room for somewhere they wouldn’t be able to see her. If she slipped off the bed, she could crawl over to the closet. She knew she was acting stupid hiding from two young men, her heartbeat so fast she could hardly breathe. As she slipped off the bed, she was glad she was crawling because she got a twinge in her lower back that would have doubled her over if she had been standing.

By the time she got to the closet, she could only curl into a ball. Excruciating pain radiated from her kidneys. She gulped back her tears. She rocked back and forth as she heard her fears laid out for Dylan. She was mortified. What if he told Cheryl?

Worse than the thought Dylan would tell Cheryl, she felt crushed by Jacob. Her heart and body hurt. After she heard them leave, she tried to get up. At first she couldn’t get up because the pain in her heart then she realized she couldn’t get up because her whole body was engulfed in pain.

It was almost dinnertime by the time Aiden got home. He was surprised by the lack of welcome. Usually Kylie met him at the door. He looked through the door to the grotto and saw Jacob brooding by the pool.

Aiden walked towards him slowly, a growing feeling of dread in his stomach. Jacob was drinking a beer, sitting with his feet in the pool.

“What’s going on, where is Kylie?” Aiden asked. He sat down on a chair facing Jacob.

Despondently Jacob replied, “Nothing going on, nothing going to go on, and I have no idea where Kylie is.”

“Okay,” Aiden said, but he felt a weird vibe. “What is up with you? I can tell you’re upset.”

“How come you have never introduced me to any young women?” he asked with bitterness. “How am I to get a girl when I never meet any?” He looked at him then back into the pool. “And what am I going to do this summer when the new girls are having their come-outs?”

Aiden was surprised by the bitterness in his voice, but more importantly, he realized something was terribly wrong.

Getting up from his chair, Aiden crossed over to the door to their bedroom. It was empty. He couldn’t hear the shower running so he knew Kylie wasn’t in there. He checked the bathroom anyway, in case she was in the bath. Empty as well. He walked back to the door to the grotto and looked at Jacob, feeling slightly desperate. “When was the last time you saw Kylie?” Aiden called to Jacob.

Jacob looked over his shoulder at him stood up. He had lost some of the bitterness in his tone. “At breakfast,” he admitted. “I saw her at breakfast. After that Dylan and I went out.” He walked towards Aiden. “I got home half an hour ago.”

Aiden heard a groan coming from the closet. He sprinted over and turned on the light.

“Kylie!”

Aiden fell to his knees next to her. She lay on the floor curled tightly in a ball. The unease he had been feeling turned to a ball of desperate fear when he felt her forehead. It burned with fever.

Jacob had followed him in the bedroom. Horror was etched on his face as he stood in the doorway of the closet. “Oh god,” he groaned.

Kylie’s whole body trembled. Aiden looked over his shoulder at Jacob. “What was her reading this morning?” Aiden knew his voice was frigid and controlled. In a crisis, he could only revert to what he had been as the commander of a spaceship.

With dawning horror on Jacob’s face, Aiden knew his answer before he said, “We didn’t do it this morning, sir.”

Aiden patted Kylie’s cheek. “Kylie, Kylie,” he said more intently with each pat. “You’ve got to wake up.”

Groaning, she finally blinked her eyes slightly open to look at him. “I–I d–don’t f–feel s–so g–g–good.” Her teeth chattered with every word.

Aiden scooped her up and brought her to the bathroom, pushing past Jacob as he did. “Go get a test,” Aiden barked to Jacob.

He heard Jacob running back with the parchment. “Give it here,” Aiden commanded. He gave Jacob a look that spoke volumes. If Kylie was sick, Jacob was at fault.

Aiden pried her legs apart as he pressed it between her legs. Almost immediately the parchment turned a bright red. “Oh God.” Aiden hissed.

“Get the goddamned red,” Aiden barked at Jacob.

Aiden picked up the love of his life, carrying her through the house to their vehicle. Jacob followed with the red vial clutched in his hands. She was still curled in a ball when Aiden set her down in the back. “Program it to the hospital,” he commanded Jacob. Jacob had crawled in with them.

“Hold her legs open,” Aiden commanded. Jacob tried to pry her legs open so he could apply the oil.

“No,” Kylie cried. “Don’t do it.” She began to sob. “I can’t,” she cried as tears streamed down her face. Her eyes were as tightly clenched as her body. She had pulled her legs up and together in a defensive measure.

“Hold her legs, you feckless wonder,” Aiden commanded Jacob. Jacob sat behind Kylie prying her legs open for Aiden. Aiden opened the bottle. The smell of cinnamon overwhelmed his senses. The oil was hot on his finger and he knew it would sting. She cried louder when he touched her clit with the red oil.

“No,” she cried. She thrashed in Jacob’s arms. Aiden knew Jacob was struggling to hold her steady. Jacob tried talking to her, trying to calm her with no success.

“I’m sorry, pet,” Aiden pleaded, all the while knowing he was hurting her, but it would help her. After a few agonizing minutes of applying the cinnamon oil, he felt her have a small orgasm. She was crying from the pain, there was no pleasure in her orgasm. Aiden kept applying new oil as their vehicle weaved toward the hospital.

It seemed like an eternity until the car pulled into the emergency bay. An attendant opened the door and helped them extract Kylie from the car, laying her onto a stretcher. Aiden ran alongside the attendant as she was pushed in, explaining what symptoms she had as they rushed her inside.

Jacob watched Aiden pacing the floor in the waiting room. They were with all of the other poor souls waiting to hear news of their loved ones. Aiden had been kicked out by the doctor when he was hovering too close. Jacob had been kicked out with him, even though he had been hanging back. The doctor was young, and seemed arrogant. Hopefully the arrogance was born from true ability.

Aiden had asked for him to call Dr. Jones, but the doctor had assured him he knew what he was doing.

Aiden paced back and forth, every time giving Jacob a hard look when he walked by. Jacob had never seen or heard him this cold or commanding before. He had heard rumors he had been cold with his crew on his space ship, but since he had never seen him cold or commandeering before, he took it to be an exaggeration.

It took Aiden ten minutes of pacing before he could sit down and find out what happened.

Jacob explained how hadn’t done the test before Dylan showed up, how she had overheard their conversation. It was painful to say, but he told him exactly what Dylan had said about how much Cheryl hated her. And her being human would prevent them from attending come-outs and balls this summer. Jacob also told him she might have heard him tell Dylan what the oils were for.

Aiden got up and began pacing again with aggravation. “I brought you into my home. I let you love my wife. She gave you everything she had. She gave you comfort every time you needed it, damn it.”

“I know. I’m so sorry. I know I fucked up.” Jacob couldn’t believe the way he had really fucked this up.

Aiden’s rant was interrupted by an attendant coming out. “It looks like she is going to be okay,” the attendant informed him. “It was a close call. You really have to be careful with these earthlings, you know. They aren’t nearly strong enough for us.” The derision in his voice was clear. Obviously, to the attendant, earthlings were the lowest form of intelligent life.

Jacob began to see all of the crap Kylie must go through on a normal basis due to her heritage, and he felt worse knowing he was part of the problem.

“You can go in and see her,” the attendant told them. “She’ll be asleep for a while. We had to sedate her to be able to work on her. She was pretty tense.”

They walked into her room. Aiden’s heart broke when he saw her attached to an IV drip and a machine to monitor her heart. She looked smaller than usual in the huge bed, skin pale, dark circles under her eyes. Aiden approached her bed and cautiously sat next to her. He held her limp hand in his.

Jacob sat on a chair across from them. They sat in silence. His stomach grumbled but he ignored the hunger pain.

After a while, Kylie’s eyes began to flutter until they opened. She looked at Aiden as though they were the only two people in the universe. Aiden bent over her, touched his forehead to hers, nose to nose. “Hello sweetheart,” he whispered.

“Hello Aiden,” she whispered back.

He kissed her tenderly all over her face. She drifted off to sleep as he held her.

Jacob got up and left the room. Not really knowing where to go or what he was going to do, he found himself on a public transit to the downtown district, hoping to drown his mind in drink. He went to a bar some of his friends liked to go to. He found some of his buddies at a small table at the back.

Jacob hadn’t seen some of them since his final heat change. They patted him on the back and congratulated him on his final change.

It was inevitable they all started talking about their changes and lives. Jacob became increasingly uncomfortable as he realized how good he had it. When Matt said something about his room, Jacob asked why he had his own room. They all said they had their own rooms. None of the other cadets had shared a room with their hosts. Dylan knew he shared a room with Kylie and Aiden. He wondered why Dylan had never said anything about not sharing a room with Mason and Cheryl.

When Matt said he only saw the husband and wife before bed where he would get a dose and then surcease, again he was reminded how different his life was. He was so accustomed to sharing everything in Aiden and Kylie’s lives. Of course, there were times he went out without them and them without him, but when they were at home together, they were a family.

They all laughed at Randy’s story of how his host had to hold him down when he was going through his final heat. The wife would mount him each night only after her husband had sat on his chest to hold him down. He made wild gesturing moves to demonstrate how desperate he had become.

Jacob couldn’t believe how fortunate he had been.

The first day of his final change, he woke up feeling like he was coming down with the flu. Jacob told Aiden he wasn’t going to class, so Aiden had left him in bed, going into the city without him. Jacob felt feverish. He kicked of the covers, lying on the bed.

When Kylie came in after her shower, she laid a hand on his forehead.

With one gentle touch, his cock had sprung to life. His cock felt harder than it ever had before. His cock felt like a tuning fork, humming with hunger. Jacob realized he was sick with lust.
