| 41. The Chinese and North Koreans claimed that United Nations Command (UNC) aircraft bombed and strafed the conference site on the night of August 22. Two UNC officers immediately investigated the site and reported that the evidence of an attack was inconclusive. The incident remains murky, but Russian documents indicate that, whatever actually happened, the Chinese leadership did believe that UNC aircraft had attacked the negotiation site.
