Provisions
for the Dead
Hour NINE
Water! Yes! Now we can sail rather than trudge through this cavern. This hour promises to be pretty mellow, too. Do you see Ra carrying sheaves of wheat?
He’s bringing food to all the blessed dead. Oh, and look, he’s bringing them clean laundry, too! Didn’t I tell you Ra was awesome?
Hopefully, most of the blessed dead don’t need these provisions. After all, in Hour Two, they got their plots of land for endless super-food farming. Also, if a family member or a priest regularly brings food, wine, and other offerings, they should be fine. But we Egyptians don’t like to leave anything to chance.
