mad maddie:

hey, Angela, answer yr phone.

mad maddie:

ANSWER! I read your texts.

mad maddie:

ok, I'm calling again . . .

mad maddie:

dammit, Angela, ANSWER YR FUCKING PHONE!

SnowAngel:

shhhhh! I'm here, k?

SnowAngel:

I'm at the Zeta house. I told my pledge class leader that I was depledging, and she said I have to talk to the president of the chapter.

SnowAngel:

so now I'm sitting outside a room, waiting, while the two of them talk.

mad maddie:

are you ok? are you going to tell her about the girl you saved?

mad maddie:

also, how'd you get her home? you never said.

SnowAngel:

Reid and I slung her arms over our shoulders and walked/carried her to the Zeta house.

SnowAngel:

she was groggy, but she kind of stumbled along between us. at one point she asked about her stethoscope.

mad maddie:

her stethoscope?

SnowAngel:

nurse? Halloween?

mad maddie:

oh yeah

SnowAngel:

once we got to the Zeta house, I didn't know what
to do. didn't know her name, didn't know if she lived in the Zeta house, didn't even know for sure if she was a Zeta.

mad maddie:

how cld you not know if she's a Zeta?

SnowAngel:

god, you and Zoe seriously don't get it.

SnowAngel:

there are 250 active sisters on campus. I was supposed to memorize their names and faces for pledge stuff, but I didn't, ok?

mad maddie:

ok! sorry!

SnowAngel:

do you know everyone in yr dorm? cld you recognize them in a lineup?

mad maddie:

I said I'm sorry. I understand now, so go on.

SnowAngel:

well, I tried to think what I'd want someone to do for me if the situation was reversed.

mad maddie:

the situation never will be reversed. don't ever let that happen to you, Angela.

SnowAngel:

I wldn't want everyone knowing about it unless I chose to tell them. more importantly, I'd want to know that I *hadn't* been raped.

mad maddie:

agh. but yes. me too.

SnowAngel:

we ended up tucking her into a bed in an empty bedroom. we wrote a note and left it for her, along with her underwear. we tucked both into a pocket on her nurse outfit, with the note sticking out just a little so she'd see it.

mad maddie:

what did the note say?

SnowAngel:

“you're ok. no one hurt you.”

SnowAngel:

I wanted to add “but next time, please don't get so drunk,” but I didn't want her to feel like what happened was her fault or that she was being blamed.

mad maddie:

plus, someone cld have slipped a roofie into her drink. it DOES happen.

SnowAngel:

I also wanted to tell her how sorry I was, but I cldn't find the right words. so I kept it short and sweet.

mad maddie:

I think you did right by her. I think you handled it in the best way you could.

mad maddie:

so *are* you going to tell the Zeta prez?

SnowAngel:

I don't know! but I don't think so, cuz like I said, I'd want it to stay private if it was me.

SnowAngel:

yikes, they're calling me in, wish me luck!

mad maddie:

good luck, good luck! not that u need it. I'm so proud, my friend!

SnowAngel:

the Cross Over ceremony is probably starting at the Zeta house. this is when I'd be becoming a full-fledged member . . . if I hadn't depledged.

zoegirl:

how are you doing? are you still ok with your decision?

SnowAngel:

mainly. my feelings are a bit mixed up.

zoegirl:

I can understand that. you had fun with those girls. you made some true friends.

SnowAngel:

Anna's the only girl I'm going to miss, really.

zoegirl:

you can still do stuff with her, can't you?

SnowAngel:

yeah, I guess.

SnowAngel:

but it won't be the same. sororities take up a lot of yr life. there isn't always room for other stuff or even other ppl.

zoegirl:

zoegirl:

I'm sorry, Angela.

SnowAngel:

thx

zoegirl:

have you heard anything new about the girl from the party?

SnowAngel:

no, and I haven't seen her on campus or anything. I described her to Anna to see if Anna knew her, but “skinny and blond” describes almost all the Zetas.

SnowAngel:

Anna said she'd keep her ears open, tho. she told me she has a cousin who was date-raped, and that her cousin still hasn't gotten over it.

zoegirl:

I'm not sure that's something anyone ever gets over.

zoegirl:

agh, I just got the chills again, imagining what might have happened if you and Reid hadn't shown up when you did.

SnowAngel:

but we did

zoegirl:

but you did.

SnowAngel:

helloooo, Maddie. I think I'm supposed to be in this mysterious “geology lab” I keep hearing vague references to, but it's far too confusing. why wld being enrolled in one class require you to have to go to a second class?

SnowAngel:

it's like going to the dentist and getting yr teeth cleaned and then being told to go to some weird other place to get yr new toothbrush.

mad maddie:

u realize yr going to fail geology . . .

SnowAngel:

no way, silly. my geology professor loves me.

SnowAngel:

all of my professors love me, because I am an excellent class participator.

mad maddie:

when yr not txting, that iOS

mad maddie:

*is

SnowAngel:

when I'm not texting that iOS. exactly.

mad maddie:

SnowAngel:

ANYway, I fear my soul is being sucked away. must stop being addicted to Twitter!

mad maddie:

and tumblr and FB and Instagram . . . shld I go on?

SnowAngel:

I checked on our friend Jana, and she's not a happy camper. wanna hear more?

mad maddie:

no

mad maddie:

but ok, sure.

SnowAngel:

all of her recent tweets have been about how depressed she is, how stupid college is, and how she wants to drop out.

mad maddie:

maybe she shld.

SnowAngel:

what? why wld you say that?

mad maddie:

cuz going to college just cuz yr expected to doesn't make a ton of sense, not when u think about it.

SnowAngel:

but . . . college! learning stuff and getting smarter! it's important!

mad maddie:

which is why yr skipping yr geology lab again. nice.

SnowAngel:

ok, but there's other stuff too. college isn't JUST about book learning.

mad maddie:

my point exactly. you can teach yrself anything you really need to know by going to the library.

SnowAngel:

why are you arguing on Jana's side? I *like* college. don't you?

mad maddie:

dude. what idiot doesn't like college?

SnowAngel:

aargh! you are being very aggravating!!!
