Chapter 19

Paris

I waited for Ceyanna at the spot she told me to meet her. It wasn’t long before she pulled up next to me. We both got out of our cars at the same time.

“What’s up,” She greeted.

“What’s good,” I replied.

“My bad, I was little late. We had a meeting,” Ceyanna informed.

“About the party?” I asked.

“Yeah, she is expecting shit to pop off so just be ready. Oh yeah, she is making it a public party. It’s a twenty-dollar cover charge,” Ceyanna told me.

“Okay,” I told her.

“So what are you up to?” she asked me.

“Nothing really. Kiyah and I were just coming up with something,” I told her.

“Did you?” she wanted to know but I could not tell her.

“Maybe, whatever happens, happens,” I answered.

“Alright,” she sounded like she was ready to go. She told me about the parking, security, and the layout of the party. I knew everything I needed to know. After she left, I went back home.

Once I got to the house, I saw Kiyah and Mae outside talking.

“Hey” I greeted both of them. They both replied. “What’s going on Mae?” I asked her. She was a good source to have because she is close to her sister who is close to Kassidy who is close to Chanelle.
My target.

“We have a problem,” she said.
Damn.

“What?” I asked.

“Chanelle’s not even going to be there,” Mae informed.

“What? She’s the one throwing the party? So where the hell is she going to be?” I questioned. This would have been the perfect time to go after Chanelle. “Ain’t this a bitch,” I was pissed.

“Well I’m going to keep you updated,” Mae said.

“Hold up. Where is she going to be? Wherever she is, I’m going to be there,” I told Mae.

“Nobody knows. But everyone thinks she is going to be there,”
I wonder how Mae knew this information.

“So how do you know?” I asked Mae.

“Kassidy was telling Tamika and I overheard the conversation,” Mae said.

“Alright,” I said. Mae told us more about the conversation but nothing I could use for the party.

“Bye, everyone,” Mae said getting in the car and leaving.

I went inside of the house to try and think of how I was going to go after Chanelle. I needed to find out where she was going to be that night. She is going to be somewhere and that ass is going to be mine.

“Let me ask you something?” Kiyah startled me while I was in a daze.

“What’s up,”

“Have you heard from Dollah since the night you called his phone and Chanelle answered?” she asked.

“Naw,” I told her.
I was too occupied with trying to seek revenge on Chanelle, I hadn’t notice any calls or messages from Dollah.

“Do you want to know why?” Kiyah asked.
Let me guess. Up under another bitch?

“Why?” My curiosity grew. My desperation grew. I was becoming anxious.

“It’s because he is dead,” She said handing me the newspaper to me. It read, Darius “Dollah” Adams was reportedly found in the home of Tiffany Cox.

“So are you going to fight over a dead man? Wow, you females are something else,” Kiyah commented at the same time, laughing while walking away. She did not understand everything between Dollah and me.
That is why I do not tell her ass anything now.

“How come I am just now hearing about this shit?” I began to get furious. Dollah’s and my relationship was not perfect by far, but we were working things out. We were trying to get it together so we can be a family to our unborn child. I saw Dollah’s deception but I still held on to the good he had left.”
Everyone has some damaged goods, am I right?
I was not ready to give up on Dollah yet. I was fighting for what I believe in. I am fighting for our unborn child. Relationships are not perfect. With the lifestyle he lived, I knew there would be infidelity. He convinced me he was changing and I believed him. No one ever believed in him. He finally had someone to believe in him: me. I would not expect Kiyah to understand because her relationship with her dude differs from mine in so many ways. First thing, Kiyah’s dude is terrified of her. She scares the crap out of him. Kiyah has a church dude. He isn’t worried about the streets. He is more concerned with making it to bible study on time and focusing on his whatever the hell he calls it, his ministry.
And I don’t even know how she ended up with a church dude.
I haven’t told Kiyah I was pregnant just yet. I wanted to tell Dollah first.
But it looks like it’s a little too late.
I kept my strength inside. I could not show Kiyah that I felt weak over Dollah’s death.

“The detectives just started looking into it,” Kiyah said.

“The party you went to, wasn’t it at Tiffany house?” I questioned.

“It was her house, but I don’t know her. I went with Tonya and them. I didn’t see Dollah there,” Kiyah informed.

“But you saw Chanelle and her squad right?” I asked Kiyah.

“Did I? Honestly, I don’t remember. It was dark. I was drunk. I was high. I don’t remember seeing Chanelle. She probably was there though,” she said. I told her thanks. I had a few phones calls to make.

Chapter 20

Vicious

This is beginning to get out of control now. After we had that draining meeting, I went upstairs to my room and talked with Taye until I got tired. We were making plans for him to come here to visit me. The more I thought about everything I have been doing, I began to second guess a lot of it. I am fifteen and a part of a gang which entitles me to criminal behavior. As I think to myself, do I really want this for the rest of my life? The more I talk to Taye the more I start to see life in a different view.
Thoughts roamed through my head.
I heard a knock at my door.

“Come in,” I looked up and saw Kareema walking in.
Well look who finally decides to show up. Her presence caught me by surprise

“Hey,” she said. Kareema ditched me a long time ago
.
If she thinks she can come here and try to sweet talk me, she is wrong.

“Hi,” I kept my response short.

“Vicious, I am sorry for the way how I have been…” I cut her off.

“Kareema save it. I don’t even want to hear it. I moved on. It is what it is.”

“Vicious, let me explain,” she tried to plea.

“But see, I don’t want your explanation. I’m good. I’m cool,” I told her turning back over with the covers over my head.

“Okay,” Kareema gave up too early.
She didn’t want to apologize.
If she wanted to apologize she would have made sure that she didn’t leave until she apologizes.

I stopped being angry with Kareema. I am not worried about her. I am used to people disowning me, lying to me, and using me. What she did, is nothing I am not used to. Yes, I did believe Kareema at first. All I heard were Kareema’s words and nothing else. Her words did not stand tall, they fell. I started to see who these girls really are. Nelly gave it to me straight the other day. I still can hear her firing words, “Nobody
really cares about you,”
So fuck all of these girls. Just as I was about to close my eyes, I heard another knock at my door.

“Come in,” I turned over and saw it was Simya.

“Hey, what’s up,” I said to her.

“What’s up. I know you’re not about to go to sleep,” She joked walking towards my bed.

“I’m tired. What are you about to do?” I asked her.

“I’m about to take s ride. Come with me,” she said.

“Ugh, I don’t know. I’m tired,” I told her.

“Come on, you can sleep in the car,” She said.

“Where are you going?” I asked her.

“I’m going to tell you in the car,” she said. I got up and got myself together. “I’m going to meet you in the car,” she said and I nodded. Once I got into Simya car, I couldn’t get myself together. My mind was exhausted. My body was exhausted.

“What’s wrong?” Simya asked.

“Nothing,” I told her.

“You sure? It looks like you got something on your mind,” Simya assumed. I let out a cough. “Is something stressing you? If you ever want to talk I’m here,” Simya made herself available for comfort. I accepted it.

“Thank you,” I told her.

“I’m going to go see an old friend,” I nodded my head and went to sleep.

When Simya woke me up, we were in front of a house.

“Aye V, you were knocked out,” she teased.

“I know. Whose house is this?” I asked.

“My friend, Shakiyah house,” Simya took her phone out and began to punch in numbers. “Yea, I’m outside,” When she hung up we got out. We sat on the steps until her friend came out. I stared at the girl. She looks familiar. She was the girl I was fighting in the bathroom at the party last week.

“What’s up, Kiyah,”

“Hey, Simya,” They greeted each other with hugs.

“This is Vicious. Vicious this is Shakiyah, but everyone calls her Kiyah,” Simya introduced us.

“Yeah, I know. We met before,” Kiyah said.

“You did?” Simya was confused.

“Yeah, she is the one I was fighting at the party,” Kiyah confessed.

“VICIOUS! Vicious is the one that whipped your ass?” Simya asked laughing. Kiyah gave her an ugly look. “My bad Kiyah. But Vicious kicked your ass. Look how little she is compared to you?” Simya wasn’t helping.

“Damn, Simya, how many times are you going to fucking say it?” Kiyah began to get furious with Simya.

“So how did the fight start if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Tonya thought she was Kassidy,” Kiyah confirmed.

“Oh, I see,” Simya looked away and laughed again.

“SIMYA!” Kiyah yelled her name.

“I’m sorry. Alright, I’m done laughing,” Simya said. You can tell she wanted to laugh some more.

“Go ahead, keep on laughing. You are not right. Fuck you acting like you never lost a goddamn fight,” Kiyah was heated.

“Not to some little ass girl though. Kiyah, look how big you are compared to Vicious, like come on,” Simya said.

“Fuck you Simya, alright? Fuck you,” Kiyah said.

“Alright so what’s up?”

“Paris went to meet Ceyanna somewhere, I forgot the place. Is everything set up for tomorrow night?
Kiyah asked.

“Yeah, shit’s going be popping. She’s letting people in for twenty,” Simya informed.

“Alright, I’m there,” Kiyah informed.

“Kiyah please be careful. You know how Chanelle is,” Simya warned.

“Please, nobody is worrying about her bitch ass. I’m ready for her,” Kiyah said.

I went into my own world for a little while Simya and Kiyah talked. Revenge is what everyone has on their minds. A squad that is known around the city for its formidable dealings are falling apart, backstabbing each other. and hating each other. That’s not even what it is about. It’s about how they comprehend with their corrupt minds.
All for money. A piece of green paper.
I haven’t been there long enough to get to know them well, but I can already see what they are about. They are about being a bunch of scandalous bitches that are willing to put their own blood on the line for money.
A piece of green paper.
They have no problem getting their family members involved and murdered. Just the word money alone has them going insane.
A piece of green paper.
I have not been here long enough to even know them, but I see they team up with people outside of the squad and double cross each other. When? Every damn day. Who? Every single one of these girls is corrupted.

“Vicious, Vicious,” I came back to reality by Simya calling my name.

“Huh,” I answered.

“You were in deep thought, huh? Come on, we’re out,” Simya said. As we walked off I didn’t say anything to Kiyah. I took one look at her before I got in the car. I observed her bruises on her face that I made.
I was just defending myself, nothing personal to her.

I did not show greatness for beating the bitch ass in front of her. Kiyah allowing her friend to see the marks is enough embarrassment. But I did laugh to myself.
I had a little me moment.

“What were you thinking about? Simya asked me.

“Nothing really. It’s just that this life isn’t going to change me. But I can’t say the same for others,” I said staring at the window.

“So you think this type of life changes who people are?” Simya asked.

“Yeah, I do,” I answered.

“You’re right, it does. It has changed a lot of us. Sometimes all money is not good money. And some people can’t control themselves. Some become greedy, selfish, and forget where they came from. Some of us cannot define who we are anymore. They are lost. Before I met Dollah and Chanelle I was broke. I didn’t have a dollar to my name. My family tried to make their own dreams happen through me to get what they wanted I wasn’t having that. And since I said no, they didn’t want to support me anymore. I had to go out and find a job. I couldn’t find one. In my family’s house, if you don’t have a job you can’t stay. Luckily that day they kicked me out, I ran into Chanelle and Dollah. They took me in and looked after me. Money didn’t change me when it came into my pockets. I controlled the money. I’m still controlling it. That’s what happened with the girls in the squad. Money changed them. It’s crazy though, because if you sit down and talk with them, we have one thing in common; similar backgrounds,” Simya finished.

“I’m making some changes, but I’m not going to let the squad and money change me,” I said with confidence.

“Don’t let it,” Simya advised. Instead of going directly in the house, we went to Simya’s cousin, LaLa’s house.
