During the course of the night, I felt myself inching toward wanting to invite him. Even if we were playing a game, he had a way of triggering my appetite, and little by little I could feel my temperature rise with each brush of his knee against mine, each subtle swipe of his fingers over my arm. Every time he took a body shot off of me he lingered with his tongue and kept my eyes focused on him. He gave me subtle winks when he knew he had me aroused. He knew my body well, though he had never had it. He was completely in tune with me and knew it.

Now I was lying on the bar, legs spread, Spencer in between them, hitching my sundress close to the top of my thighs as he towered over me. My temperature rose as he took the shot from the bartender and licked my index finger before lining it with salt. The shot rested on the flat part between my chest and neck and the lime was strategically placed in my mouth by Rory. God I loved that girl, but I would be damned if I didn’t sense she was on his side. Amy and Jack were doing some pretty heavy petting a few feet away at the table and Rory had excused herself to check out the jukebox, leaving me with Spencer and his next shot.

“Got you all to myself, Nadine.” I had to stifle a moan as his eyes took inventory.

I spit out the lime. “Could you hurry this up? I feel like it’s going to spill.”

He grabbed a fresh lime from the condiment tray, placing it in my mouth.

“You really don’t want that do you, Nadine?” He clicked his tongue with his teeth and I rolled my eyes. We were the last people in the bar. No one was paying us a bit of attention. I looked to the bartender who was counting her till. I was like a fly in ointment. Well, a willing fly.

“Stay still, Nadine. Don’t move.”

I felt his hands slide up my thighs to my hips, taking my dress hem with them. I felt the shot wobble as I sucked in a quick breath. There was no way I wasn’t going to spill the shot. I quickly protested.

“It’s up here, Spencer,” I scolded through the new lime, but was not convincing.

“No one is watching me,” he said quietly. He took his time licking the salt off of my finger as I took in a sharp breath. His eyes met mine and I saw the corners of his mouth turn up in smug satisfaction. I needed a fix and he was my only out, but I would be damned if I gave him any other indication he was ruining me. I was absolutely determined to keep my raging flesh hidden until I felt his hands slowly and tenderly stroking my hips as he leaned in and took the shot with his mouth and tilted it up quickly, taking it all. I watched him swallow in awe as his hands moved swiftly, massaging my sides and playing with the strings on my panties.

“Spencer!” I scolded, but sounded ridiculous through the lime. He leaned in, sucking the lime and my bottom lip. When he had his fill he tossed the flavorless rind on the bar next to me, still keeping his hands at my sides, and leaned in and kissed me deeply. I moaned into his mouth as he thrust his tongue inside and time stood still. Fuck the world and everyone in it. I wanted this man. I reached up and stuck my hands into his thick hair, letting his tongue taste while his lips massaged mine. When he pulled away I was panting and I could tell he was very close to losing his own self-control. The rise and fall of my chest showed him just what he did to me.

“Tell me I win and I’ll put you out of your misery right here, Nadine.”

“Screw you, Spencer,” I hissed, my frustration and arousal apparent.

“Oh, I intend to. I’ve tasted you already and I want more.” He quickly brushed his finger over my sex and slipped a single finger under my panties, making me gasp, and brought it to his full bottom lip, tasting me. He slowly roved his tongue over it and closed his eyes. Opening them again he pushed his center into me. I felt him hard against me and whimpered.

“Fucking delicious, Nadine. I could bury my face between those sexy fucking legs of yours right now.”

I pushed at his chest as I noticed Rory coming our way.

“Stop right now. Rory can see.” I could barely get the words out when his mouth came down on mine again. He gave me one final thrust of his tongue and closed our kiss. I rose up off of the bar quickly and noticed not a soul had a clue of what he had done to me. My body was on fire, begging me to tell him he had won. His smug grin told me he was in control.

“What’s up, ya’ll? Last call over? Shit I just put a dollar in the jukebox.”

“Rory, let’s go.” I was furious. I darted my eyes at Spencer who was smiling arrogantly and licked his lips.

“Okay, but what’s wrong, Nadine?”

“Nothing. I want to leave. I need to go.” There was a horrible ache brewing between my thighs. I needed a shower. I needed sleep. I needed chocolate. Even worse, I needed Spencer inside me. Only he could deal with my true issue and I suddenly hated him for it.

“Don’t go away mad, Nadine,” he said from behind me. I jumped at his low voice and breath tickling my ear. I made a beeline for my car and he didn’t follow. Fine, he won that round and screw him for it. I felt a strange draft from beneath my skirt and stopped dead in my tracks. My eyes widened and I quickly realized he had done more than taken his shot. Nadine, this is what he wants. Walk away! It went off in my head like an alarm. If I lost my temper, I would lose the game. Even worse, if I demanded what I wanted from him I would have to admit I lost. A slow smile crept up my face. I felt the night’s drinks kick into overdrive. He was bold. I recognized that part of him in myself and it only made me crave him more. Still, he wasn’t getting away with this.

“Back so soon?” Spencer was smug in his victory as he sipped his beer in front of Jack and Amy who were settling their bill. He had both of his arms hitched on the bar, his body facing mine as I walked directly in front of him and held out my hand. He put my panties in my hand and gave Jack a wink. Jack shook his head and went back to fussing with Amy who had suddenly insisted on tipping way more than what was normal. I smiled at that and turned to Spencer with a practiced ferocity in my eyes that I used often.

I grabbed Spencer’s hand and took a finger into my mouth, sucking it down and letting it tickle my throat, then two, leaning in on him and taking them deep. I grabbed my clutch from behind him with my spare hand, grinding myself into him with my hips. I pulled back and glanced at his face and saw his mouth gaping and felt him hard against me. As cheerfully and casually as I could muster, I replied with a smile, “I just forgot my clutch.” I gave his hard length a firm graze of my hand before I turned around to Amy and winked. She winked back. “Night, guys. See you in the sand box tomorrow?”

Jack laughed at Spencer and grabbed his beer from him, downing it without any protest. Spencer, who recovered quickly, replied, “Wouldn’t miss it.”

I have sleight of hand too, Spencer. Game on
, I thought as I smiled at the door walking away.

I spent the next day on the beach alone. I had spent the last two nights drinking and had slept a small part of the day away. Rory was still in bed and I grabbed a book at a little beach boutique. I couldn’t focus on my book and spent a majority of my time peeking around and hoping to see Spencer approaching, but it didn’t happen. I decided I had been neglecting my time with Rory anyway and went back to the hotel to let her know I wanted a date for just us girls. I found the entire crew in my hotel room.

I hid my elation that Spencer was there looking amazing in a plain black tee, shorts that hugged his body perfectly, and flip flops. I couldn’t justify any of my fascination for a man I hardly knew, but justified that once I had him it would quickly be over.

I waved to Amy and Ellie who were fussing over the remote.

“Looks like you got some sun, Oklahoma,” Jack said as I took a bottled water out of the fridge.

“Yeah, it was so peaceful today.” I gave Jack a smile. He was cute in his own way. Still as pasty white as the night I met him, though it seemed impossible due to our amount of sun play. He had short cut blond hair and dark blue eyes. Amy could pass for his sister instead of his wife.

“So … Nadine, don’t get mad, but I told them they could smoke in here. You know, weed. “

“Why would I get mad? Just because I don’t do it?”

“Ever?” Spencer said behind me in amusement.

“No, I’ve never done any drugs. No intention of doing them.”

“Weed is pretty harmless,” Spencer said, eyeing me.

“Who are you to play Devil’s advocate, counselor?” I quipped.

“Not this week, the counselor part I mean,” he said, undressing me with his eyes.

Rory laughed and added, “Oh God, Spencer. I’ve tried to tell her a million—“

“I’ll hit it.” The whole room looked at me like I had just fired a gun. “What? We’re on vacation. I’ll try anything once, unless I don’t want to. And I’m up for it.” I felt Spencer eyeing me as I dug through my clothes for a change. When I found my evening outfit, I looked at Ellie. “Do you smoke, Ellie?”

“No, I wigged out when I did. Be careful.”

“I’ll be right back.” I could feel my heart accelerate as I walked past Spencer who grabbed my hand and guided me into the bathroom as if I didn’t know where I was going. He shut the door behind us.

“I missed you today.” He took my mouth so quickly I didn’t have time to answer. His arms were around me then and I melted into his kiss. I quickly remembered the aggravation of the night before and protested with my hands pushing his chest.

“I don’t know what you think is going on here between us, but I’m really just trying to have some fun,” I said, breathless and hating myself for it.

He leaned into me with his body and I felt him hard against me. “We are playing a game.” He smiled and I lost even more composure.

“Everyone is out there and knows we’re fooling around.”

“I just wanted to tell you that I missed you today. And for someone who fucks for sport, you sure aren’t acting like it.” He gave me a dimpled filled smile and tapped my nose with his index finger. Was I cute to him? Oh no, this wasn’t going to work.

“Not that it’s any of your damn business, but I don’t really showcase my private life in public or otherwise. In fact, until I met you, Rory and a bartender were the only ones who knew that about me. Look, about our game, I’m not so sure I want to play anymore. Maybe we could just be cool and hang out.”

“Why, are you mad about last night?”

“Yes and no. Smooth by the way.”

“I wanted to keep those panties. Seriously, I didn’t mean to upset you. And now I just wanted to see to unfinished business.” He took me again, this time with no mercy. He took my sarong off and stood back, eyeing me in my bikini for several moments until he slid an arm around my waist, pulling me to him.

“I’m going to get between those thighs, Nadine, and you are going to beg me for more. And when you do, I’ll rub it in the right way by fucking you senseless and making you wish you had given in sooner,” he said, kissing my neck and stroking my back with his hands. I reached into his jeans and felt his length and heard his groan as he tongued my neck. I instantly wanted to drop to my knees, but pulled back to watch his reaction to my fingers. I wanted the look, and what I saw took my breath away. His head was tilted back, and his eyes were closed. When he finally opened them, they had turned into a pool of liquid black.

“Fuck,” he moaned as I stroked him over and over, making his hands roam, frantically grabbing my chest. I stopped quickly and stood away from him. My heart stopped when he turned those eyes back on me, a wicked smiled crossing his lips. I hadn’t won this round, either.

“Finish it,” he ordered, making my sex twitch.

“No way,” I said slowly, dragging the words out as I enjoyed his discomfort.

I undid my top and lowered my bottoms, keeping eye contact. A small smile played on my lips as I tossed the bottoms at him, seeing his face fall as I jumped into the cold shower. I heard the door open and close a few minutes later. I took my time getting ready thinking this round might have gone to me.

My sundress was form fitting and long. It hugged my every curve and showed a small amount of cleavage. I swept my hair to one side in a braided bun and put on my darkest shade of red lipstick. My sun kissed skin made my clear blue eyes pop. I wanted nothing more than another go at Spencer, but this had to stop. The longer I stayed away from Oklahoma, the less I felt like the girl who left there. I was done playing. At least I was beginning to feel like I was. I walked out ready for whatever they had planned and was met by Rory.
