I froze, remembering the voice as the girl he was talking to before class.

“I try to be,” he replied, and I instantly wanted to gag. “I hate to cut this short, but I have an appointment.”

The girl laughed. “Of course, Jav, Professor Rodriguez.” I began to back away, but couldn’t turn around. It was as if I needed to see exactly what they both looked like when they exited the office. The girl came out first, her ass swaying in a tight skirt as she started down the hallway. She looked back once and smiled as he made his way out of his office. I glanced down at my sundress, feeling frumpy, then back up to meet Javier’s eyes.

We stood with our eyes locked for several seconds. “Ms. Wilson.”

“Professor Rodriguez,” I cleared my throat, “I need to speak to you for a moment about the homework.”

“Of course,” he replied, gesturing for me to go inside. I stepped in his office and he shut the door. “How can I help you?” he asked, leaning against his desk.

I sank down in one of the seats in front of him. “I guess you’ve moved on to some other desperate student.”

“I wasn’t aware you were desperate,” he shot back.

I rolled my eyes. “At least you aren’t denying it.”

“Denying what exactly? Helping a student with calculus?” He crossed his arms. “No, I won’t deny that.”

“She was flirting with you.” I was acting like an immature bitch, and I knew it, but my emotions were all over the place, and the one winning at the moment was unfortunately jealousy. And a little hurt. But mostly the gnawing confines of jealousy. I had no right, but I couldn’t help how I felt.

“So?”

“You said you’d never slept with a student before, but you were certainly prepared to sleep with me.”

His eyebrows scrunched. “What are you talking about?”

Narrowing my eyes at him, I said, “You basically painted it as you and your wife sleeping separately and never having sex, so do you cheat on her often? Why else would you carry a condom around with you?”

“I don’t.” He smirked. Had the fucking nerve to smirk at me.

“Bullshit!” I spat. “You also said you didn’t come over intending to have sex, but you were certainly prepared to do it.”

“The condom was on
your
nightstand.” In an instant, his lips were on mine, bruising me. “And fuck, you could make me do anything. Anything!”

He kissed me again, gathering me into his arms, and I couldn’t resist. His lips owned me. Walking us to the other side of his desk, he hoisted me up and sat my ass down. I moaned in protest when his lips left mine and moved toward my ear. “I have never cheated on my wife before, but since that first day of class when you locked eyes with me, you and I both knew we were going to fuck.”

I pushed him back. “I am not someone’s fuck buddy.”

His hands cupped my face. “What do you want then?”

I sat, frozen for a second, trying to gather my thoughts. I hated to admit it, but I wanted
something
with him. “I want…a relationship. I’m not a one-night stand type of girl.”

“I can try.”

“Try how?” I questioned.

“I don’t know. All I know is that I’ll try. Because, fuck me, I don’t think I cannot
not
have you.”

He didn’t offer me anything, but I found myself lunging forward, taking his lips with mine. His tongue was immediately tangling with my own and his hands were inching up my thighs.

“Wait,” I whispered, pulling away. “We can’t do this here.”

“I locked the door,” he said, brushing his lips with mine again. A minute later, he dropped into his chair. “Put your feet on the arm rest, Alexandria.”

“What?” I asked, catching my breath.

“Put your feet on the armrests of my chair. I’m going to show you how much I want you. How good this will be between us.” I knew it was dangerous, but I found myself kicking off my flip flops and placing my feet where he had told me. My panties were damp and my body felt like it was on fire. Inching closer, his fingers pushed my dress up as much as he could with my butt sitting on half of it. “Mmm,” he purred, “lift that incredible ass up.”

Shakily, I braced my hands on his desk and lifted my lower body. His thumbs hooked my lacy, black panties and removed them. My eyes locked with his as he licked his lips and moved closer to my sex. “Beautiful,” he muttered before darting his tongue out and licking me from entrance to clit. A moan fought its way up and out of my lips as his tongue lashed at my wet pussy.

A moment later, his mouth moved from my clit to my entrance and he began fucking me with his tongue. My hands gripped his hair, and I hung on for dear life. One thumb moved to circle my clit as the other grabbed my hip, locking me into place.

“Javier…” I trailed off, losing my thoughts with each stoke of his tongue and finger. “Oh, yes.” He didn’t say anything, his only reply was to apply more pressure to my clit while his tongue fucked me with renewed vigor. I was building with each lick, nip, and stroke, and I crashed with such force, I completely forgot we were in his office at the university. He must not have forgotten, though. His hand left my hip and covered my mouth in one swift second.

Once my body quit writhing with pleasure, he stood and gave me a quick kiss on the lips. “You need to leave.”

I blinked, stunned at his words. “You fucking dickhead.”

“Shh,” he whispered. “I meant you need to leave before someone tries to come in.”

“Oh.”

He chuckled, and I couldn’t help but take in his handsome face. “Yeah, oh. I’ll come by tonight after Caroline falls asleep. Unless you have plans or don’t want me to.”

“I want you to. I need help with my calculus.”

“I can help with that.” His eyes glittered. “We’ll need to start with the basics, though. You know, one plus one equals two orgasms.”

“You’re a nerd,” I said, hopping down from the desk. I found my panties and put them back on. “What time does she normally fall asleep?”

“Around nine.”

I went around the desk and grabbed my bag. “Thanks for the amazing orgasm, professor.”

He laughed, and I unlocked the door and left.

I had already missed my third and final class of the day, so I walked home with a huge smile on my face. Deep down, I knew what we were doing was wrong, but being with him felt so right. He wasn’t in a real relationship with his wife, and I couldn’t fault him for staying for his daughter.

While unlocking the door to my apartment, I kept thinking over how he had said it was
my
condom, not his. The only thing I could figure was I accidentally left the condom there when I cleaned out my nightstand a week or so ago.

My phone buzzed from my bag. I dug the phone out and unlocked the screen.

Courtney: Wanna meet me for an early dinner at the Pasta Shop?

Me: Sure. What time?

A couple seconds later, she texted back.

Courtney: 5:30ish?

Me: Sounds good.

***

I walked into the Pasta Shop and found Courtney sitting at a table, texting on her phone. “Hey,” I greeted as I sat down in the chair across from her.

“Hey. One second.” She finished texting and placed her phone on the table. “Ugh. I hate group work. Trying to set up a time when all of us are available is horrible.”

I nodded. “Those do suck.”

We both knew what we wanted without looking at the menus. “So, have you talked to Lane?”

“Yeah,” I answered. “He came over Sunday and we spent the day together.”

“Did he tell you he left the party with some girl?” Courtney asked, scrunching her nose in disgust.

I wondered if I detected a hint of jealousy. “No,” I said, truthfully, “he didn’t mention it at all. Knowing Lane, he probably just dropped her off because she was drunk. I doubt anything happened.”

“Normally, I’d agree, but they were all over each other at the party.”

“What? Before I left they were just talking. It didn’t look like they were even close to moving on from that.”

“Well they moved on. Big time.” Her face morphed into sadness. “Can I tell you something and you promise not to tell anyone?”

“Of course,” I said, thinking about my own secret. I’d love to be able to tell her, to talk about it at all, but I knew I couldn’t.

“I…I think I’m in love with Lane,” she blurted, her eyes huge. “Shit. I didn’t mean for it to come out like that.”

“Courtney!” I exclaimed, shocked. “I had no idea.”

“Yeah, well, I’m sure nothing will ever happen. When he broke up with Beth, I had hoped he’d want me, but clearly, that is not the case.”

I grabbed her hand and squeezed. “You don’t know that. It’s only been like a week. Give him some time to realize how great you are. Besides, he probably has no idea how you feel. If he did, he’d definitely chase you!”

“You think?”

“I know. You’re beautiful, smart, funny, and just plain amazing.”

“Thanks, Alex, you’re the best. Now, let’s pig out on some carbs.” She arched a brow. “But first, you are going to tell me why you seem to be glowing.”

Obviously, I couldn’t tell her the complete truth, so I went with, “I got laid by some guy I met at the party.”

“What? Oh my God, I need details!” she yelled.

Without mentioning who I had sex with, I gave Courtney as many details as I possible could while we ate our meal.

Chapter 8

At nine-twenty, I received a text from Javier letting me know he was on his way over. I couldn’t help the small thrill that raced up my spine. Even though I was looking for more than a sexual relationship, just the thought of him naked had my body aching with sexual desire.

A light knock on the door startled me out of my thoughts, and I had to take a deep breath. It wasn’t our first time together, obviously, but it still felt surreal. Why in the hell did he want to be with me? I knew I wasn’t hideous or anything, but I wasn’t a supermodel either. And he’d be able to land a supermodel.

I opened the door and the sexiest thing I had ever seen greeted me. Javier stood in the hallway with dark, loose jeans hanging low on his hips, a tight SUBC t-shirt, and a ball cap. His eyes were hidden, but the scruff on his face more than made up for that. He looked absolutely edible, just as he had at the coffee shop.

He smirked, knowing I was checking him out. “Can I come in?”

“Um, yes,” I breathed as I opened the door a bit wider. He walked inside, taking off his ball cap, and I closed the door. “Did you run along the beach wearing that?”

“No. I drove.” He sat down on the couch and patted the cushion.

I sat down next to him. “Is this what you normally wear, or are you trying to be incognito?”

Laughing, he cupped my face. “What I normally wear. Although, I may have pulled my cap down a bit when I entered your building. I’m sure I either have former or current students living here,” he said as he brushed his thumbs over my cheeks. “Any more questions? If not, I’d really love to kiss you.”

I shook my head, but before I could say anything else, his lips were on mine. He kissed me as if he hadn’t seen me in weeks. I moaned as I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he pulled me on top of him. “Fuck, you’re sexy,” he murmured before kissing me harder.

I kissed him back, our hands roaming over each other’s bodies. “Wait,” I said, pulling back slightly.

“What?”

“I told you I wasn’t going to be your fuck buddy. I meant that.” It came out weaker than I’d intended, but I was lacking oxygen due to his kisses.

“Okay,” he said. “What do you want to do? I’m yours for the night.”

“You’re staying over?”

He pointed to a bag by the door I hadn’t noticed. “Yes.”

I was a little stunned. “We could…” I trailed off, thinking of what exactly we could do. “I have wine. Do you want wine?”

He kissed me. “Sure. I’ll help you.”

“Okay,” I replied as I stood up. I walked into the kitchen and found the wine as he opened a cabinet. “The one to the left,” I offered, directing him to the glasses. He nodded but didn’t say anything else. He seemed…off.

I poured the wine into two glasses as I thought about his behavior. He had seemed a lot happier before I mentioned doing something other than sex. “Look…I know you just wanted to fuck me. I get it. We don’t know each other. We haven’t even spoken enough to know if we really like each other. I won’t be hurt if you leave.”

He took a sip of his wine and swallowed. “Do you want me to leave?”

“No.”

“I don’t either. I want us to get to know each other—like we did at the coffee shop. I really do.” He set his glass on the counter and pulled me closer to him. Brushing some hair away from my eyes, he said, “It’s been a long time since I’ve done this. You have to realize I’ve been living in hell for a while. I could give two shits what Amy’s likes or interests are. All I care about is Caroline.”

“Why me?” I asked.

His eyebrows bunched. “Why you, what?”

“Why do you want me? Why, out of all the women out there, am I the one you…want?”

His eyes bore into mine as if he were trying to let me see the answer instead of saying it. “Besides you being the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen? I don’t know. I like your personality, I guess. And the other night…spending Friday with each other, I wanted to spend more time with you. I felt a connection.”

I swallowed and nodded, not knowing what to say. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I leaned up and kissed him. “I felt the same way. Well, I didn’t think we were going to sleep together the next night, but I felt…I don’t know. I just knew I felt different.”

He smiled and kissed me again. “Let’s watch some TV. Or maybe we could talk and go from there?”

I released him and grabbed our glasses. “Sounds good,” I said as I walked to the living room and sank down on the couch.

“I’d ask what you do for fun, but we kinda already discussed that,” I said as he sat next to me. “No, wait. I have to know how a sexy as sin guy decides he’s going to be a math professor.”

“Good question. I just followed my old man’s path. He’s a professor at the University of Houston. He teaches law, though. I was good at math, so I went that route.”

“Interesting. What does your mom do?”
