I
find my cousins and my friends. Some of my mom’s family and, of
course, the Andersons. Roger looks happy sitting beside his wife as
they talk to Corey. It’s a mixture of my past, present, and
future. Knox slips his hand into mine as Max stands to make his
speech.

“Evening
everyone. I’d like to start off by congratulating my brother
and his new wife.” He holds up his glass and winks at us.

“Also
I want to say, ha ha, I won bro.” Knox laughs and nods in
agreement. Max gets a serious look on his face and clears his throat
again.

“On
behalf of my dad and I, I want to officially welcome Bailey to the
Porter family, although she has been around for four years now, we
are glad to have you. When my brother and Bailey first met, it went
off like a bomb. They grew close fast and I could tell how happy they
made each other. But they have been through some crazy stuff. The
good, the bad and the ugly, but they made it through, and a love like
that, is worth holding onto.

I’m
happy my brother found his soul mate and Bailey you are the sister I
never had. I love you for that. I love you for loving my brother and
bringing him happiness. I can’t say how much seeing him this
happy, makes Dad and me happy. I love you, bro. Now please raise your
glasses and toast to Knox and Bailey.”

Everyone,
raises their glasses, and toasts to us. Knox stands to hug Max and
whispers in his ear. My heart is ready to explode from all the love
pouring my way. Standing, I hug Max and kiss his cheek, taking the
microphone I begin to speak.

“Four
years ago, I honestly thought I’d never love anyone again.
Never have a best friend again, but then I met three amazing people
who quickly became my friends. One of them was a girl who, at first
wouldn’t leave me alone but she soon became one of my closest
friends,” turning, I smile down to Paige, who wipes her eyes.

“The
other two, drove me crazy but in a good way. Max, I love you and I’m
happy to say that you have become one of my best friends. We can act
crazy together and fight but at the end of it all, I know you’ll
always be the brother I never had. And Knox, I can’t imagine my
life without you. We have been through so much together and I just
wanted to say thank you. Because without you I wouldn’t even be
here, I love you with all my heart and I promise to love you
forever.”

Knox
stands, wrapping me in his arms. “I love you too darlin’.”

After
our meal, the DJ calls Knox and I to the floor. The music begins and
I laugh at him. “Nickleback?”

“Of
course darlin’. What else would we dance to?”

“I
love you, Knox Porter.”

“I
love you, Bailey Porter,” he smiles at me.

Our
arms wrap around each other as we sway to the sound of Satellite by
Nickelback.

Our
first dance of many as husband and wife.

Epilogue

Christmas Eve.

“When
is that wife of yours coming home?” Max asks.

“Soon,”
I reply, checking my watch for the hundredth time in ten minutes.

He
laughs at me and shakes his head. I know what he’s thinking and
he’s right. I am a pussy, but I don’t care; I’ll be
a pussy any day if it means I get to come home every night to the
most beautiful woman in the world.

“How
long has it been?” He laughs.

“Fuck
off Max,” I grumble. He only laughs harder.

“C’mon
bro, let’s finish this so you can get home and wait by the
door.”

I
punch him on the arm and follow him up on stage. We are playing at
the bar tonight for something to do really. I haven’t seen my
wife for three weeks because she has been in DC with her dad. But
they land soon and I’m dying for this night to be over so I can
feel her in my arms again. The bar is not too full, but the night is
good fun, it’s been a long time since we played together. Max
and I usually lock ourselves in my music room at home, but as a band
it’s been months.

We
rock out together and sing more songs than we usually do. It’s
turned into a jamming session but it’s fun. After we finish, we
have a beer and lock up the bar.

“So
what time will I be over tomorrow?” Max asks.

“You
can just come with me now, Max.”

“Nah,
I’ll let you two have your reunion,” he smirks.

“Yeah
fine, about noon if you want breakfast,” I laugh.

“Bro,
you’re disgusting,” he laughs while walking over to his
bike. I climb on mine, still laughing and wave to him. Riding up the
hill, I feel the wind on my face and shiver. I’m tired, but I
want to get home fast. Pulling up to the house I frown, noticing all
the lights are off. Parking in the garage, I walk into the house,
silencing the alarm. I don’t see the suitcase by the door where
Bailey usually drops it after a trip. Flipping on the lights I feel
sad that she is not home yet. I check my phone, but there are no
texts or missed calls. I hate all this traveling she does.

Kicking
off my boots, I grab a beer and walk into the sitting room, to turn
on the Christmas tree lights. After a few sips from the bottle, I
notice a huge ass box by the tree. I know that wasn’t there
earlier. Jumping out of the seat, I put the bottle down on the table
and run up to my room.

“Darlin’?”
I call out as I burst into our room. She’s not in here, neither
is the suitcase. “What the fuck?” Running my hands
through my hair, I start to walk back down to the sitting room to
finish my beer.

“See
something you like, darlin’?”

Looking
up, I almost fall down the stairs. She is standing by the door to the
music room in, let’s face it, not very much. Turning, I run
back and grab her into my arms.

“You
frightened the crap out of me,” I scold, as my lips trail down
her neck.

“God
I missed you, babe.”

“I
missed you too darlin’.” My hands roam all over her body,
all I want to do is make love to her right now, right here.

“Whoa,
babe slow down. I want to give you your present.”

“You
are my present darlin’. The rest can wait.”

“No
Knox, its Christmas, come on.” Slipping out of my grasp, she
runs down the stairs laughing. I am wide awake now, and racing after
her.

“Oh,
you’re going to get it darlin’.”

I
walk slowly into the sitting room, finding her smiling at me. She
looks beautiful, standing by the tree with all the lights reflecting
off her skin. I watch as she spreads her hands over the huge box.

“What’s
that?” I ask, my feet inching towards her again.

“Open
it and find out.”

Kneeling
down, I begin to pull off the wrapping paper. Opening the box, I am a
little curious. I know what I asked for, and it’s not this size
for sure. Looking inside I find another wrapped box. I frown at her,
but she gives me her killer smile, and I open this one. After three
boxes of boxes, I look up at her.

“Darlin’,
what is this?” I shake the last box.

“Don’t
shake it!” she grabs my hand.

“Okay,”
I answer. My brain is not functioning right now because sleep has
finally caught up with me.

“I
promise this is the last one.” She smiles.

Believing
her, I open the wrapping paper and the box. My eyes stare at the
gift, uncomprehending. I look up at her, biting her lower lip and
looking worried.

“Merry
Christmas.” She says.

I
look back at the gift again, “Seriously?” I ask. She nods
her head and I stand up grabbing her in my arms. I don’t know
why but tears fall from my eyes as I squeeze her.

“Really
darlin'?” She nods again. “Thank you, thank you. I love
you, I love you so damn much.”

“I
love you too babe.” She wipes the tears from my eyes and smiles
at me.

We
both look into the box sitting on the coffee table, seeing a pair of
little white booties.
