“You
still
want me? After everything
we’ve been through?” I smiled and inclined my head to the
side.

“See,
that’s
what I love about you,” James
smiled before trying to get to me once again and succeeding this
time. He pinned me to the wall, a position I loathed every time.
“You never give up on anything.”

“Get off me you jerk,” I said as I
pounded my fists helplessly against his well-built
chest.

“Nope,” James grinned and pressed
his lips onto mine. Oh, yeah? If he wanted a kiss, he should’ve
just asked. I pretended to kiss him for about a second or two and
he held onto my waist, but I bit his bottom lip, hard.

“Ow! What the hell?” James growled
in pain, pulling about a millimeter or so away from me.

“Don’t ever do that again,” James
snarled again.

“Don’t ever freaking try to touch
or kiss me again,” I smiled, just in time to see Lucifer
appear.

“James, get your filthy hands off
her,” he hissed. James muttered something incoherent under his
breath before leaning in close to my ears.

“Love, you don’t know what you’ve
gotten yourself into.”

“Actually, I do know.”

“Ha, ha! I may look like a
trustworthy person, but really, I’m a nightmare dressed like a
daydream,” James smirked and left me. It’s not like I didn’t come
to an agreement with what he said. Lucifer made his way over to me
and I shook my head.

“Let’s get this over with. I have
my arms pinned to my side. You’re gonna try to kiss me and blah,
blah—,” I rambled, but he cut me off.

“No, Rosie, I’m not like that. I’m
better than that,” Lucifer said softly, a slight bit of hurt
flashing across his eyes.

“Oh, okay. If you
are
better, then can you
properly introduce yourself to me?” I challenged.

“Fine, I’ll try to be as vague as
possible. Hello, Rosie,” Lucifer began. I nodded my head as if to
say, go on. He got the message loud and clear and went
on.

“It is very nice to finally meet
you. My name is Lucifer. You may not know who or what I am, but
here is a brief intro on who I am. I am the Son of Morning, the
Morning Star, the Prince of Darkness and Hell. I am Satan, the
Devil. I am Lucifer, the Morning Star,” Lucifer grinned as I gasped
in unmasked horror.

So this is Lucifer, the ruler of
Hell. The Angel of Light. The most feared one. What have I gotten
myself into? He is a nightmare dressed up as a daydream.
Literally.
He is the Morning
Star

CHAPTER 17

LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN

You’re kidding, right?” I
asked.

“Nope,” Lucifer grinned casually.
I gulped and tried to take a step back as he took a step towards
me, but I soon encountered the brick wall behind me.

“Okay. So you’re the ruler of
Hell. No biggie,” I said, picking my head up and keeping it up
high. I kept my voice strong and steady so he wouldn’t sense my
fear.

“Yeah, no biggie,” Lucifer grinned
and took a step closer to me.

“Okay. If you are the Prince of
Hell, then what are you doing here? What on Earth caught your
attention?” I asked, a bit chary of his intentions.

“You,” he shrugged. That’s it?
That was his reply?

“Why?” I asked.

“Because . . . You are a special
young lady and you’re all mine. After the Choosing ceremony of
course,” Lucifer said a bit thoughtfully.

“I will have you know that I am
sixteen years old,” I said as I raised my head higher.

“I can see that, Rosie,” Lucifer
smirked as he looked me from head to toe. I blushed and looked down
at my shoes. Why should I care? Why should I try to make myself
more presentable in front of him?

“What do you want from me?” I
asked.

“Now, that is an excellent
question that I can’t answer. If you really want to know the
answer, you should ask your Prince Charming,” Lucifer winced and
smiled a bit bitterly. Why couldn’t he answer me?

“Can’t or won’t?” I
interrogated.

“Can’t,” he smirked
again.

“So . . . Are you a fallen angel?”
I asked.

“Hah! I am Lucifer. I am Satan for
goodness sake,” he laughed.

“Okay . . . Is Adrian a fallen
angel?” I asked.

“Ask him that yourself,” he
answered.

“Why won’t anyone answer me? I
hate life,” I muttered as he took another step towards me and
pulled me in for a friendly hug. He is the Devil and I can’t
believe I’m saying this, but it felt as if he cared . . . for
me.

“Rosie, we would all love to
answer your questions and make your life easier, but unfortunately,
we are bound by covenant law that wouldn’t allow us to answer your
questions. I remember what breaking that stupid law did to me,”
Lucifer grimaced. I nodded, showing him that I understood, but I
really didn’t. I just want to know what this stupid fallen angel
thing has to do with me. What is the covenant law?

“I have to go home, Lucifer,” I
said crisply as I pulled away and headed for the door.

“Rosie, please listen to me and
stay away from James. He’s a bad influence,” Lucifer warned me with
a smile.

“I will,” I replied before running
out of that door that was calling my name.

* * * * *

I tried to relax as I made my way
over to the bench. I decided not to go home and instead, I went
over to one of the benches. New York at this time of the year was
beautiful. The weather was so warm yet cold. The whole city looked
beautiful. I loved coming to the Riverside Park. The whole park
looked out to the river. I loved it here at night. I began crying
without knowing it and I didn’t even care by this time. I sat there
a bit longer until I felt someone’s arm brush mine gently. I turned
around and saw that Adrian was sitting next to me, his expression
filled with hurt, agony and he looked really, really
wounded.

I gave him a blank look and he
looked at my eyes, which were still shining with tears, and he
looked at the teardrops that continuously fell from both eyes. I
quickly tried to wipe the tears away, but he caught my wrists and
put them both back down. Adrian wiped away my tears, every single
one of them and then pulled me in for a hug. I hugged him back,
trying to find out a reasonable explanation for me being
here.

Love, what are you doing out
here, in the cold, all alone and unprotected, crying your heart
out?” Adrian asked as obvious sadness laced his deep
voice.

I wasn’t—,” I started, but Adrian
cut me off.

Shhh, shhh. It’s okay. I
understand,” Adrian said.

How’d you know I’d be here? Why
are you here?” I asked in a small voice.

A) I contacted Lucifer and found
out some interesting information. B) I know where you would go if
you were upset. C) I love you. D) I blew off all that after school
stuff just to be with you once I heard about what happened. E)
Nothing else is more important to me than you,” Adrian smiled. I
reached up and kissed his cheek and muttered a quick thank
you.

Adrian, can I ask you something?”
I ask him.

You just did,” he pulled
somebody's leg, trying to lighten up the whole atmosphere. Okay, he
didn’t literally pull someone’s leg. It’s just another way of
saying he joked around.

What are fallen angels?” I
blurted out and Adrian went all rigid and his eyes widened before
looking down at me with a shocked expression.

Fallen angels are angels that
fell from Heaven due to them defying against God,” Adrian replied
in a small voice. I looked up at him, trying to absorb this
information as if my brain was a sponge.

There are two types of fallen
angels, although, according to humans, all fallen angels are
demons. But, that’s not true. Those who serve Lucifer truly
loyally, from his or her heart is the demon. Some angels are from
Heaven’s side,” Adrian told me, picking out his words
carefully.

How come?” I asked as I furrowed
my brows together. This was confusing but I had to find out all of
this, right now.

Some of them chose God before the
fall but unfortunately, they were, unwillingly, sucked into the
Fall like a vacuum. Some of them chose God in their hearts after
they fell and gained their white wings. The demons have black
wings. The ones with gray wings are the ones who are still choosing
or they might be in between, not choosing either side,” Adrian
explained.

Some of them chose God in their
hearts after they fell and gained their white wings. The demons
have black wings
. Last time I checked,
James had black wings. I guess I didn’t even have to try and
explain the rest to myself.

Can the angels from Heaven go
back to Heaven?” I asked.

Unfortunately, no. They are sort
of like . . . locked out of Heaven. Angels from Heaven are called
Heavenly Angels while the ones from Hell are called demons or
better known as, Abaddon Angels. Those who are in the middle are
known as the Outcasts,” Adrian grimaced, but his eyes held a sort
of longing in them.

Are
you
a fallen angel?” I
asked, moving towards him so he wouldn’t think I’m about to leave
him. To my dismay, he nodded and hung his head. I sighed and he
instantly inched further away from me, at least an arm’s length. I
moved closer to him, putting a reassuring hand on his arm to show
that I was here and I wasn’t leaving him.

Which one are you?” I winced as I
asked that question. I promised myself that I wouldn’t leave him no
matter what. I will be loyal to him and love him with all my heart.
Adrian winced and opened his mouth to answer. Realization hit me. I
didn’t think about how much it would hurt him to tell me what he
was. He was already hurt, a lot.

You can answer if you want to,
you don’t have to,” I said and I wrapped my arms around his
shoulders and he hugged me back, burying his face in my neck and
nodded. So . . . if Adrian was a Heavenly Angel, then he was more
or less, locked out of Heaven and stuck in this
hellhole.

I felt little teardrops slide down
my neck and I realized that Adrian was crying. I held onto him
tightly and he pulled me closer to him.

Roza, please don’t leave me. I
don’t know what I would do without you,” he cried.

Why do you love me, Adrian? I
only make your life worse,” I said bitterly.

I love you because I see my God
in you. You’re like a God to me, on Earth. I want to be with you
forever, Roza. I love you and I am not leaving you and you are not
leaving me. You are stuck with me,” Adrian said.

I love you too,” I replied and I
really meant it. He quickly pulled away and kissed me. He kissed me
with such fierceness and held me so tightly; I thought that I would
die. I kissed him back with just as much passion. I loved Adrian
and I was lucky that I wasn’t locked out of Heaven. I don’t know
what I would do, being locked out of my home. But for now, Adrian
was my Heaven and I was not deprived of it.

CHAPTER 18

TAKE A HINT

I love to take walks in the park.
Since I was about four years old, Elliot and my Uncle John would
bring me to the Riverside Park. I loved this park and one of my
favorites would be the Cloisters. It is basically like an ancient
medieval castle like place, built like a king’s home with a garden
inside. I loved to go there, too. As I walked hand in hand with
Adrian right now, I couldn’t help the smile that crept its way onto
my face, making me all warm and fuzzy with all those blissful
memories.

When we were done talking about
all those fallen angels stuff, he insisted on walking me home. I
told him, even begged him, not to, but he simply wouldn’t listen.
He had one arm draped around my waist while the other hand was
interwoven with mine. Adrian said that from now on, he’s going to
be extra protective of me. He is not going to let me out of his
sight. When Adrian saw me smile, he tugged on my hand to make me
look up at him, still smiling.

“What’s making you smile all of
sudden, Roza? Not that I don’t want to see you smile or anything,”
Adrian asked as he began to smile. Wow, my smile was infectious, I
guess.

“Nothing. I was just remembering
how Elliot would take me to parks like this instead of those kiddy
parks since I was really little,” I beamed again, wishing I could
be there again, as a little girl.

“I remember how happy you would
look when I mentioned that we were going to some park. Even a
crappy park. Those were some great days,” Adrian said quietly and I
stopped dead in my tracks. What did he just say? He knew me before
all of this?

“Wait, what?!” I said and Adrian
quickly took a step back and looked down at his feet.
