I managed to get myself up. I needed to check on my girl. God damn I hurt everywhere. I was going to be feeling this shit for a few days. I finally made my way over to Madison as she was coming to. “Are you ok chickie? Your scaring the fuck out of me,” I asked a disoriented Madison.

“I’ll be fine. Just going to be one hell of a headache in the morning. Is that sirens I hear?”

I heard them too. Good they could get all of us to the hospital to get checked out. “It sounds like it. Looks like we’ll all have a trip to the ER in our future.”

Madison started to panic. “We can’t go to the ER. They’ll now we’re there. We’ve got to get out of here Avery. We gotta go home. This shit has found us now no one here is safe with us around.”

“What the fuck do you mean Madison? We’re in no shape to drive. Those fuckers are long gone by now. We’ll be fine girl. Just try to relax,” I said trying to comfort her and myself. She was right. If this was because of the club they wouldn’t stop til they had what they were after, us.

“Avery we have to go,” Madison said as she got herself upright. “If we don’t get out of here now the cops will have us for questioning and god knows what else. We need to leave and we need to leave now.”

I looked over to Ben as he was sitting with Trevor. By the look in his eye I could tell he had been eavesdropping. “She’s got a point Avery. I can call in a few guys but I’m not equipped to cover you two and the other girls. If this shit is related to what you have back home, I’m not sure home is safe for you either. You’re the only one that can make that choice. If your leaving you need to do it quickly. Those sirens are close. I’ll think of something to tell the cops.”

“Ben I can’t leave Trevor like this. He’s been shot,” I argued. I went to Trevor’s side taking his hand in mine.

“I’ll be fine sweet cheeks. If you’re going, get your ass out of here. Don’t stop until you get to that damn family of yours. I’ll check in with you in a few days. Be careful bitch. I love you,” Trevor told me through gritted teeth. He was in pain but still trying to be the hard ass.

“Avery come on we’ve got to get out of here. We need to snatch a vehicle and role girl. We’ll send someone back to pick Trevor up. He can stay with us while he’s recovering and shit.”

“Go Avery. I’ll make sure someone is with Trevor at all times. No one will get close to him if I can help it. Madison’s GTO is parked over by our bus. I had just come out to help Harvey get it loaded when we heard the gun shot. Keys are still in it. Just get in the fucking car and get moving!”

By now the sirens where in the parking lot. Madison stood up to pull me with her. Reluctantly I let go of my best friend’s hand and went with her. Madison and I moved towards Layla and Ben’s bus as quickly as we could. With her still woozy from the blow to the head and my body on fire from being kicked over and over we weren’t moving very fast. Luckily for us we were over to the bus by the time the cops and ambulance made it to the guys. Madison moved to go to the car but I stopped her.

“Avery we don’t have time for good-byes babe. We need to get some distance between here and home. It won’t take those fuckers long to realize we aren’t at the hospital or with the cops. The sooner we leave the better,” Madison pleaded.

“I have to go on the bus first. I won’t be but a minute. Go ahead and get in the car. I’ll drive but I have to grab something before we leave,” I said feeling guilty about referring to Hunter as “something”.

“We don’t have time for this. We need to go. What the fuck is so important that they can’t hold it for you or mail it back home to you? Get your head out of your ass woman and let’s get the fuck out of here.”

“I have to get something. We need money and some ibuprofen. I’ll be right back. Just get in the car and I’ll be right back,” I snapped as I turned towards the bus.

Madison grabbed my arm harshly and began pulling me towards the car away from the bus. “You’re going to get your ass in this car and we are fucking leaving right now!”

I tried not to lash out but it didn’t work. I didn’t want her to find out this way but oh fucking well. “Let me go. Get your fucking hands off of me. I CAN’T LEAVE WITHOUT MY SON GOD DAMMIT!”

With those words the bitch finally let me go. In a state of shock, she just stood there as I turned to head towards the bus. I would get my son and we would be gone. She would just have to wait a damn minute. A frantic Layla was standing at the open door of the bus.

“What the hell is going on Avery? Are you okay? I heard a gunshot and now a bunch of sirens. What the fuck am I missing?”

“Ben will explain when he gets back Layla. I need to get Hunter and then I’ve got to split. I’m headed home where its safe. I can’t stay here and put everyone in danger. With the commotion going on out front I should be able to put a good amount of distance between here and there before they realize Madison and I aren’t on our way to the hospital,” I told her quickly. I walked in the bus to find Hunter curled up in his favorite blanket on their couch. I wasted no time scooping my boy up in my arms to carry him out. I began walking back towards a now quiet Layla who was still standing in front of the door to the bus waiting for me.

“I’ll call you as soon as I get there. I promise everything will be okay. If anyone ask we took off in the middle of the night leaving you a note telling you I quit. Now if you have any loose cash around here that would be great being I can’t go back over to my bus to collect my things.”

Layla went down the hall to her bedroom. When she came back it was with a wad of cash. “Take it. I’m not sure how much is here but it should be enough to get you where you need to go,” Layla said as she pulled me and a sleeping Hunter in for a hug. After kissing us both on the forehead she pulled back for her last words. “Be careful. Watch out for my little dude and I will be to visit once the coast is clear. I love you, girl, both of you. If you need anything at all you call us. Now get your ass out of here before the pigs’ start snooping around for witnesses.”

“I love you too,” I said slipping out the door. I stayed close to the bus as I walked over to the car. Madison was already in the passenger seat. I opened the driver’s side door while Madison pushed the seat forward. For now, I just lay a sleeping Hunter across the back seat. When we stop I’ll wake him to buckle him in but not now.

With Hunter in the backseat I jumped up front. I turned the key in the ignition and took the back way out of the arena. Madison was silent for what felt like an eternity. When I finally made it to the interstate I couldn’t take it anymore. “Say something dammit. I can’t do the silent treatment.”

“I thought you said there was no one else but my brother Avery. You lied to me. Why would you lie? Hell, why did you stay away with a kid that no one knows about? Did you think we wouldn’t support you? If you did, you need your fucking head examined.” Madison said quietly as to not wake Hunter.

“That’s not exactly why I stayed away. There’s more to it than that. I just couldn’t. All hell is going to break loose when we get back and he’s going to be caught up right in the middle of it. I’ve tried to keep him away from the drama that will come. I’m not sure when you get a good look at him if you’ll be so inclined to help me Madison. Just promise me you will let me explain everything before you lose your cool. I don’t want him seeing that shit.”

“I might be a lot of things but I’m not reckless enough to flip in front of kids if I can help it. Now how bout you get to the explaining part of this conversation. We’ve got at least a four-hour ride. That’s plenty of time for you to fill me in.”

Here goes nothing. With my eyes on the road and steering wheel in hand I took a deep breath before spilling my best kept secret. “I wasn’t lying when I said Braxton has been my one and only. Hunter is your nephew Madison”.

Chapter

Axle

After the day’s events to say I was exhausted would be an understatement. I’ve been up for almost two days straight only catching a nap slumped over my best friend’s make shift hospital bed. Now here I sit hashing out the early events of the day with the rest of the crew. Carrin and Athena were back. The mess with the shoot-out was cleaned up and the officials paid off to make it look like a high jack gone wrong. I was ready for this fucking day to be over, yet here I sit at the head of the table at damn near midnight and I knew I wouldn’t be finding any sleep for a while. My best friend was itching to ask the question I knew was coming. Now that he was patched up and his sister was back where she belonged he was itching to find out why Madison wasn’t around.  I’d deal with that in a few. Right now I needed to zone back in on the debate unfolding at my meeting table.

"And that would be...." Tank said waiting for Zeus’ response.

"Why Denver? I mean there's chapters a hell of a lot closer to us than that. I never realized til now that every cut today we saw on those cock suckers says Denver."

Before anyone else could speak I broke in. I needed to put this shit to bed for a few hours or we would be here til this time tomorrow night hashing this shit out. "Point taken. I guess we'll have to ask our visitor tomorrow won't we? I'm with you though, it seems like all this shit has to deal with someone or something that happened in Denver. I'll put the word out and see if the local Grizzlie fucks know anything. For all we know they don't even know their playing in their own backyard. I mean Athens and Kingstree are only a couple hour drive from here. Close enough they should have let them know but far enough away to go unnoticed. Anybody got anything else before I shut this shit down," I said knowing what was coming next.

"Yeah Prez I got something. Where the fuck is Madison? What aren’t you fuckers telling me," Wall asked and the room fell silent. And there it was. The question of the hour. The one everyone was avoiding the answer to.

Without answering Wall's question, I told everyone to get some sleep but to be back at the clubhouse by noon tomorrow. We would need to get back to digging into shit. With a slap of the gavel the meeting was over. I waited for everyone to leave the room before turning to my wounded friend.

“She’s not here brother. She took off last night before the girls went missing,” I said as calmly as I could. Instead of sitting back and waiting for Wall to lose his shit I reached into my cut and pulled out the note. The note my sister left begging for time away. Time away she needed because the fucker in front of me was too stupid to go after what they both wanted.

“Before you say another word you need to listen to this asshole. After I read you every last word on this piece of paper you’re going to tell me what exactly happened last night. You’re gonna tell me what was so bad that my sister decided to disappear into thin air. You feel me dick head?”

“Yeah I got you. Let’s get the fuck on with this. I’m dying over here brother. Something isn’t sitting well with me. I have this bad feeling that something bad is going to happen to her and I won’t be there to do shit about it,” Wall said while barely holding his sanity.

“Okay listen up fucker. I’m only gonna read this once.” I read every word of my sister’s letter, nice and slow, letting it sink into the asshole sitting next to me. I hope like hell this might would get through his thick ass skull.

Hey guys! I wanted to leave you some love before I ran off into the night. I beg you to please let me do this. I'm not sure where I'm heading. I only know that I need a few weeks to clear my head. Please know that I'll be back but I need some time to get my head on straight. To be honest with you I'm at a weak point in my life and you guys know that it's not like me. I can't crumble in front of you all, so please give me the time and the space to put myself back together. I'll be sure to check in with you all in a few days. I love you all with every ounce of me. Make sure you give my little diva kisses every day for me.

           Your Favorite Crazy Bitch

                            Madison

When I finished I threw the piece of paper in front of the man sitting beside me. “Now tell me what would make my goddamn sister take off in the middle of the night with all this shit going down. Seems pretty funny you fly out of here taking a ride, which ended up with you taking two to the shoulder, on the same night my sister takes off in the middle of the night. Doesn’t seem like much of a coincidence to me. Now start talking.”

“I love her man. I can’t breathe without her but I’m not worthy of her. That stubborn ass woman deserves someone better than me. I’ve tried to keep my distance but she just keeps closing in. The only way I could think of to push her away was to hurt her,” Wall said sounding defeated.

I slammed my fist to the table making my best friend jump. “What that fuck do you mean hurt her? What the fuck did you do asshole”? I could feel the rage taking over. He better start making sense or I was going to beat the fuck out of him. Shot up or not, I’m going to fuck him up if he laid a hand on my sister.

“After Doc came in to knock some sense into me for Carrin getting hurt in the middle of my outburst, I went to apologize to my sister. I met Jewels in the hallway. She offered to help me out last night so I agreed, but I still had to find Carrin first. Jewels followed me but I thought she was in the hallway when I went in to talk to my sister. At first I thought it was just because the bitch was impatient but after the shit last night I know it was just a dig at the girls in that room. Hell, it might have been a plan to keep me occupied so the others could get to the girls easier.”

“What the hell was said? Madison’s been around this club long enough to know what the club bunnies are for,” I said a little calmer than before.

“As I was talking to Carrin, Madison and Athena were watching. Jewels decides to come in the room rubbing all over me asking me to leave with her so she could ride my cock. Her words not mine. When she said it though I saw a look of pure jealousy on your sister. I’ve never seen it before because she’s the queen of hiding emotional shit. Taking the chance to push her away, I played right along with Jewels in an attempt to piss Madison off. I wasn’t trying to make her run away. I just thought that it would hurt her feelings. I want her to have the best of every fucking thing. I was only trying to show her how much of and asshole I am. I did it to get her to move on, hopefully to someone worthy of her man.”

I wasn’t exactly sure whether to ring his neck or comfort him. I know all about not feeling worthy of someone’s love. It took me too long to realize it was worth fighting for and by then she was gone. Gone without a trace for five fucking years. I don’t want my sister gone for that long nor do I want to deal with Wall while she’s gone. This next week is going to be hell as it is with her gone. Between being shot and Madison gone, Wall is going to be a total prick.

“Brother I don’t do this sappy shit and I don’t know what to tell you other than there are worse mother fuckers out there for my sister to end up with. Everyone knows you two will end up together eventually. It would be sooner rather than later if you two would just wise the fuck up and stop making it harder on each other. Grow a set of balls mother fucker and tell her how you feel. She deserves that much after you rubbing skank pussy in her face. Hell, I don’t know if she’ll even believe your ass at this point.”

“I don’t know what to say to make this shit right. That fucking woman drives me insane. She’s so fucking stubborn that she won’t listen to me anyway. Things will just go back to the way they were or I’ll just leave her alone completely. It’s what’s best for her.”

“Well, brother you got a week to figure out what the fuck you want to say. I talked to her earlier. Blaze finally got ahold of her when we were looking for Carrin and Athena. I had to make sure she left before the other two got snatched up.”

“So you talk to her and your just now fucking telling me. Where the hell is she? I don’t have a problem going to get her. Hell I’ll drag her ass back kicking and screaming if I have too,” Wall said starting to get angry all over again.

“You need to chill the fuck out. That goddamn temper of yours is what set all this shit in motion last night,” that seemed to hit a nerve because he instantly relaxed. “When I called her I found she went to Avery. The tour that Avery is on will be over in a week. I plan on having someone at the last concert to escort them home before they both have a chance to skate away on that damn vacation Avery claims she had planned.”

We sat in silence for at least five minutes before I decided to break up the little powwow. “Look man there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it right now. Avery assured me that there were plenty of security traveling with them and Avery’s been off the radar long enough where I’m sure she would be the last one they would be going after. Let’s give her a few days to calm down then one of us will fly to New York to bring their asses home.”

“Yeah. If you say so Prez. I just hope my feeling is wrong. You need to put that twin thing to use. You know look in deep and see if she’s in trouble or whatever the fuck they say. I’m telling you I can’t shake this feeling that something ain’t right Axle.”

“We’ll my “twin thing” doesn’t work like that. Get some sleep and we’ll call to check in tomorrow morning. Now go. Get the fuck out of here,” I said standing from the table.

I didn’t say anything else to him. I walked down the hallway straight to my room and locked the door behind me. This shit will have to wait. I need a few hours of sleep before dealing with anymore bullshit. I looked at the clock on the night stand. Fuck me it was after one in the morning already. In a matter of hours, I had to be back in church. I set my alarm for ten in order to have time to shower and shave before meeting with the rest of the fuckers. If I had the energy, I’d get it over with tonight. Fuck that!

After taking my cut off to hang on the back of the chair, I kicked out of my boots before falling face first into the bed. In a matter of minutes, I was dead to the world.

Wall

I sat at the table and watched our president, my best friend, walk out the door. Axle must think I’m the reason Madison took off for her little vacation. I probably am but at least my methods seemed to work. I’ve finally pushed her away. It’s what I wanted, right? I just need to sit back and let her move on with her life. She deserves so much more than a loser truck mechanic that can’t control his temper or his dick. I know I’m not worthy of her but it doesn’t make this shit hurt any less.

When she comes back I’ll keep my distance. I’ll stay away so she can move on to better things. I owe that to her. Oh who the fuck am I kidding? I’ve never been able to stay away from her. She’s in my head constantly. The fucking woman is like a magnet drawing me too her. I can’t even fuck anyone that doesn’t have dark hair and even then I have to pretend it’s her. If I can’t imagine it’s her then my dick doesn’t cooperate. Yasmin’s hair was the only reason she was my go to fuck. Hell when I busted my load in her stretched out snatch it was always Madison’s name on my lips. I’m an asshole I know but, I don’t give a fuck.

Hell, Axle is just as fucked up over the blonde that got way. He’ll never say it out loud but I know my best friend. I’ve known him my whole life. I knew he had it bad for Avery but I never called him out on it. It wasn’t my place to state the obvious and get his ass kicked for not going to her father for permission. I know those two snuck around for years before she took off.

When she left, something changed in his normal broody ass. He was always a blunt asshole but since she been gone he’s been worse. Don’t know if that asshole even knows how to have fun anymore. That hard ass man I call my best friend shut the hell down when that little blonde took off. Instead of resorting to loose pussy and booze like I do, he stayed to his self. The only club girl he fucks with is Diamond and that isn’t often enough to even count.

Something tells me I won’t be the only one stewing over what to say when those crazy bitches get back here. I’m not the only one who needs to figure their shit out. At least when Madison comes back she’ll be here to stay. Avery on the other hand has seemed to make a life for herself. From what I’ve heard she’s living the rock star life she always dreamed about. If she waltzes in only to leave again I’m not sure if Axle will be able to handle it. Fuck it. He’s a big boy. He’ll figure it out. As for me though, I’m going to carry my ass to my room, pop some pain meds and crash for the night. At least with the medicine I don’t have to worry about thoughts of my favorite crazy bitch dancing through my head.

Madison

I sit in silence looking out the passenger side window of my GTO letting Avery’s words sink in. I have a nephew. That little boy curled up in the back seat of my car is my brother’s son. How could she do this? How could she keep him away from his family all these years? I needed answers and I needed them now. She needs to explain to me why she felt she had a right to keep my nephew away from my brother. No wonder this bitch has kept her distance from everyone.

“Please say something Madison,” Avery pleaded with me.

“What the fuck do you want me to say Avery? I don’t want to wake him, nor do I want him to see me drag you out of this car to beat your ass. So what is it exactly I’m supposed to say to you.”

“I would like the chance to explain,” Avery said on the verge of tears.

“Well it looks like we still have roughly three-an-a-half hours before we make it back to Great Falls so I think you need to start talking. Tell me why Avery! Why did you take off to have a baby on your own and then choose to cut his family out of his life?”
