I grab my baton as fast as I can and snap it to its full extension, then I hit him
on the wrist. His arm moves down, but not before he fires. The gun falls on the rocky
ground. I feel the burn on my left thigh, but I don’t think he got a direct hit, it
feels like it grazed me.

“Oh, fuck no, you didn’t!” I yell at the ass while he is scrambling in a futile attempt
to reach his gun. I am really pissed now. I love this fucking catsuit and he has ruined
it. At the very moment he throws his body towards the gun, I raise my baton and smack
him right on the side of his face, then I throw myself at him and power punch him
a few times with my barbed metal gloves. I leave him bleeding and unconscious. Four
down and two to go.

Jesse has been trying to get to me, but Ciara and Colton are firing at his feet to
keep him away. I’m surprised he has not pulled out his gun, but maybe he is afraid
to get his hand blown off. Jesse walks to the goon who has an injured eye and removes
the throwing star and tries to throw it at me. He misses – big surprise. I laugh at
his weakness.

He orders the guy to get up and go after me. The fucker is going to try to run for
it. I see him moving slowly towards the driver side door of the Escalade. I pull out
the Sig I have in my back holster and shoot the guy in his kneecap. He goes down.
Only one left.

“Stay put Jesse. Not one more step.” He freezes.

“You cannot shoot an unarmed man.”

“You are about to get some of the same shit you have been dishing out during all these
years. I have been waiting and preparing for this, and it will be my pleasure to readjust
your entire face, although my ultimate goal is to beat the evil out of you with my
own bare hands. No weapons needed.”  His eyes are on full alert now and looking for
a way out. Not gonna happen.

I put my gun back in its holster and move towards Jesse like a rodeo bull after a
clown. He raises his arms to protect himself as if he was a defenseless war victim,
but I don’t feel sorry for his ass. The first time I get my hands on him is a straight
jab to his chin, which causes him to stumble back. I need to keep him at arms’ length
because he cheats and he may try to get to my weapons, even though he would not be
able to use most of them.

While I move forward, he is trying to protect himself by futilely raising his hands,
all these years as a mobster and he can’t even put up a decent fight. I get him with
a right uppercut to his face, and when his arms move up as a reaction, I take advantage
and throw in a left hook to his ribs… once, twice and he bends over and holds his
middle. I take a step back for extra force, and put a knee to his face. He finally
falls down. I know I should wait for his ass to get back up, but the anger inside
of me is calling for revenge. All I see is red. I want to lose myself in this rage,
and for once in my life I let it go. I start kicking him in the ribs… Once, twice…
I bend over and start punching him in the face until he is about to pass out.  At
that moment, all I want to do is erase him from my past. Erase him from this earth
so that he cannot damage anyone else. Pulling my gun from the back holster and pointing
the muzzle between his eyes, I hesitate for a moment. I should not have, but I ultimately
do and it gives me pause.

“Stop, stop!” He cries out with a wimpy, whiny voice.  I should have known he was
not able to take any type of punishment.

“Why should I, you sonofabitch!?”

I was barely feeling a hint of victory when I heard the shots being fired from a pile
of rocks behind me – I was not counting on that. It is dark and the rocks are high,
Ciara and Colton are trying to reach the shooter by firing in his direction, but he
is well hidden. Looking around to see who is missing, I realize the shooter must be
the one who received a broken nose. I take advantage of the cover my friends are offering
in the form of bullets and dive for my bike. The only way I’m going to get to the
shooter is if I get closer or flush him out so that Ciara or Colton can take him.
The problem is if I get the shooter, I may lose Jesse, but if I try to deal with Jesse,
I could be shot… and that would really be an inconvenience right now.

Without a second choice, I jump on the bike, firing it up and get moving, kicking
the gears as fast as possible and pushing my bike to the max. I know he will shoot
me the second he sees me, and because my ride is very loud, he already knows I am
coming. I have no choice but to shoot him as I come around in view. Taking my chances
and with the Sig still in my hand, I come from his left side, slowing down only a
little so that I can press the bike’s handle to the left using my body as counterweight
and moving swiftly around the pile of rocks, he shoots and misses, but I don’t. I
hit him in his shoulder, and a second time in the thigh. What was the count? Oh, yeah…
One more to go.

Jesse has been able to get inside the truck and is driving fast towards the gate.
I’m right behind him. I try to pull to the side and I realize his gun must have been
inside the truck, because he starts to shoot at me. The first shot breaks the window
and there is glass raining my way. I pull back some, when I notice the gate is being
blocked by Colton’s truck. Fuck me!

Thankfully, I spot Colton on the inside of the quarry, looking for cover. Jesse realizes
that he will not be able to drive through the gate, because Colton’s truck is huge
and there is no going out this way. He breaks hard and turns left, returning to the
pit.

This is bullshit, and I am tired already, so he better be wearing a seatbelt inside
that Escalade, because I’m going to put it out of commission in a few seconds. I fall
back enough so that I have a good view of his back tires, then I let him have it.
I shoot at one of his tires, and the bitch blows all over the place, making Jesse
lose control of the Escalade. I slow my bike down, trying to guess where he will end
up. He swerves from side to side and all of a sudden he drives onto one of the old
broken conveyors, causing the truck to catch air, high – very high – it’s flying through
the air, just as if he intentionally had come off a skater’s ramp. The truck falls
from the sky, but because of the angle it took on the way up, it’s coming down on
its side.

Like a movie queued in slow motion, we see the truck continuing to turn while getting
closer to the ground, and now the truck is completely upside down, landing right in
the middle of the water pit.

Holly hell! Colton reaches me.

“Are you okay?”

I nod my head frantically and speechless.

“Let’s go check and make sure the bastard is dead.” He climbs on behind me and I smile.
I would have never thought that this is what it took for Colton to ride bitch with
me. Talk about high standards. Ha! I should have caused havoc a lot sooner.

We take off and soon after we are at the edge of the water pit. There is no movement
or air bubbling to the surface. I try to angle the bike so that the light shines in
the water. The entire cabin is halfway under water, roof side down. The water is not
very deep. I look down at my catsuit and start patting it with my hands.

“What are you looking for?” Colton asked.

“How is it possible that I have no flashlight? All these doggone pockets and I didn’t
even think about bringing one.”

“You don’t need one. I don’t think anyone would have been able to survive this shit.
Let’s move the bike around the pit and use its light to look for him.” As we go around,
we notice on the opposite side, there is a large, dark lump. We get closer and identify
the lump as Jesse’s body. His head is severed almost completely from his neck, unnaturally
bobbing in the water. There is a big chunk of it missing, He was ugly in life, but
he makes for an even uglier corpse.

Colton is the first one of us to react.  “Let’s get out of here before the police
come. Take me to my truck?”

We reach his truck and I drive my bike alongside his truck glancing at each other
from time to time, silently reassuring each other that everything will be okay. As
we reach the access road on top of the hill, we see Ciara, who is steadily picking
up shell casings. She looks at us and shakes her head.

“Stop with the gooey eyes and help me get all this shit in the truck. I guess we overestimated
because we didn’t get to use half of the stuff we brought with us.”

“Better be safe than sorry.” I tell her. Then I look to see the crazy scene down below.
No one is moving. Maybe they have bled to death. “Let’s go home.” I’m starving and
I need a shower. “Meet you at our place.” I am taking a night ride. “Meaning I am
getting ready to haul ass and you can’t keep up.” I say out loud, winking at Colton,
then I take off.

Going down the hill towards the city, I could not help myself. I had to spread my
arms out, extending them like wings, allowing the wind to wipe away my fears. I left
Jesse and my past inside the gates of that quarry. Feeling the cool night wind on
my face, I imagined myself soaring like an eagle, lifting up to a new beginning. My
friends will not be harmed or threatened by my enemy. I was finally able to love and
live my life without looking over my shoulder. Most importantly, I was finally free.

Colton

We walk in the apartment after stopping by the storage unit to make a deposit. I hope
I never have to make a withdrawal again. I open the fridge to get a beer. Ciara excuses
herself and I hear the shower running.

I turn on the news and sit in the living room to wait for Brianna. She comes in about
fifteen minutes later.

“Anything interesting?”

“Nope. We need to keep looking for the next couple of days, though.”

“Agreed.” She walks in the kitchen and comes back with a freshly opened can of Coke
and a Snickers bar and sits on my lap.

“Where did you go?”

“I just rode around for a while then stopped at my star gazing spot to see if I could
relax a little. Wanna bite?” She takes a chunk of the candy bar with her mouth holding
one chunk with her lips and the other is offered to me from her hand. I smile and
take it from her lips.

“Were you able to relax some?” I ask her.

“Nope. Not yet. I think I need to find a way to burn all this adrenaline coursing
through my body.”

“You also need to figure out a way to burn all that sugar or very soon you will have
trouble getting into that catsuit.” I smile because she knows I am only teasing. I
would love and worship her body regardless of her shape or size.

“Hey!!! Not fair! Don’t be ‘
that guy.
’”

“How about we go to the bedroom and I’ll help you take off this catsuit and treat
your wound.”

“Oh, yes! I forgot. I need to clean it. I can’t believe the idiot tried to shoot me.”

I look at her laughing, “What do you mean ‘tried’? The dude shot you!” I get her to
stand up and then I get up and grab her by the hand, pulling her to the bedroom, where
I will be able to have my way with her.

“Scratches do not count. He missed!”

“He didn’t miss and you have the mark to prove it.” She pouts, and just when she was
getting ready to bicker back, she notices the gift bag on the floor of her bedroom
and bends over to pick it up.
