“Holy fuckerdy doo, you should join us,”
Josh
said when I finished my run on the pipe. “I swear you can beat Shaun!” he shouted.
“Beat who?” I heard a guy said from behind
Josh
.
“You!”
Josh
laughed.
“Oh yeah?” the guy taunted.
“Hell yeah White, this chick can shred better than you,” Jack smiled wrapping an arm around me.
“This must be
Kate
Mae,” he said taking off his goggles, and shook his hand.
“Holy shit,” my eyes widened and shakily took his hand for a handshake. “Shaun White knows my name,” I squeaked. The three guys laughed.
“I’ve heard good stuff about you,” he smiled. I giggled. Okay, Shaun wasn't the hottest guy here, but damn he was good. He was my crush in snowboarding. Well, if you couldn’t see his face and his hair.
“Holy fuckerdy doo,” I heard Samantha squeak from behind me.
“And you pretty lady are?” Shaun asked.
“Samantha,
Kate
’s friend,” she said shaking Shaun’s hand.
“Well, Ms.
Kate
, and Ms. Samantha, would you care for a small friendly competition?” he asked.
“OH not me, I’m not in that level at all, not even close,” she scoffed. “but
Kate
here would love to take that offer,” Samantha pushed me forward.
“Bitch,” I mumbled.
“Let’s go,” he smiled and we both got on separate snowmobiles that took us to the top of the pipe. Quicker than the lift.
They cleared the pipe, had photographers around and videographers and we started our run. We had so
many audiences, which made me nervous.
“You’ll do amazing,” I could imagine Ryan’s voice. But instead I heard it in
John
’s. I smiled and him and we fist bumped before I gave my all.
We did 2 runs and after mine, I was at the bottom, gasping for air. Everyone was cheering. They announced that I had beaten Shaun.
“Well,
Kate
Mae, you are good,” he shook his head. “I demand a rematch,” he smiled. “I went easy on you!”
“Pfft! I beat Shaun White! I wont do a rematch!” I stuck my tongue out at him.
“You’re good…,” he paused. “What’s your last name?”
“DeLuca,” I grinned.
“Well, you’re really good DeLuca. I expect to see you in the next X-games. Maybe compete in the men’s division,” he chuckled. We all laughed. We then decided to grab lunch back down at the lodge.

~Scotty POV~
I looked at
Kate
and she seemed thrilled. She’s always so carefree, which makes her even more awesome than she already is. I smiled as she looked at me and winked. I chuckled and winked back at her. My phone rang and looked at the caller ID.
I looked around, and it seemed to be that
Kate
was the center of attention, so I snuck out of the cabin slowly, answering the call.
“Hey man,” I answered.
“Hey Scotty, where you guys at?”
“Mt. Rose.”
“I’m here too, you wanna chill?”
“Fosho man, when and where?”
“Meet you at the village in 10? I’ll introduce people to you.”
“Yeah man, I’ll see you, I’m here already.”
“Cool, make it 5 then, front of the main lift?”
“Yeah, cool. Peace,” I said and walked back inside.
“Where’d you go?”
Kate
asked me.
“Phone call,” I smiled at her.
“Oh, well, did you eat?”
“Yeah. Hey, I gotta run, but I’ll meet up with you guys tonight or later this afternoon, is that cool?”
“Totally, have fun Lago,” she smiled and hugged me.
“Will do, tell everyone for me?” she nodded and I smiled grabbing my Jacket and my board.
I walked to where we agreed to meet up and I saw him. He was with a group of guys and girls, and there was a particular girl that I saw next to him. I wanted to shoot him. I played it cool and walked towards their group.
“Lago,” Jay greeted.
“Dolciani,” I smiled giving him a manhug.
“I want you to meet some people,” he said. “These are the guys from the football team. Mark, Leon, Gio, Jose, Darwin and Seth, and these are our lovely cheerleaders, Audrey, Crystal, Dianne, Melina, Alona and Jhoanna,” he said. “Guys, this is Scotty Lago, professional snowboarder, he was in the Olympics last year,” he smiled. The girls squealed and gathered all over me. “Ready for runs?” he asked everyone. They nodded and we all made our way up to the mountain.
“Hey, Ry, where’s Lyn?” I asked. I already knew that these people didn’t know about Lyn, but I wanted to see how he’d react.
“Oh, uhm..,” he paused and looked around the cable car. “We’ll talk later?” he asked. I nodded.
“Who’s Lyn?” Audrey asked, who was sitting next to him, practically on his lap.
“Uhm.. a.. uhmm,” he looked at me, pleading to not blurt out the truth.
What will you say, Dolciani?
~~Scotty’s POV~~
He looked at me wide eyed, and then suddenly his phone rang. I internally groaned and looked out the window. Whoever called you saved your ass, Dolciani.
“Hey,” he answered. “Yeah, we’re here,” he paused. “Awesome,” he said boredly and rolled his eyes, then hung up. We got off the lifts and met up with the rest of the group.
“Come on, Jay! You’re teaching me right?” Audrey asked.
“Yeah, sure,” he smiled and looked at me. I glared at him and he took in a deep breath. We walked towards the area where the beginner run started.
“Hey! Tyra!” I shouted out to one of the instructors.
“What’s up?” she asked smiling at me.
“Can you give these people lessons?” I asked
“Totally, but you owe me,” she smiled and gathered the group that didn’t know how to snowboard.
“Come on Jay,” I said and basically started dragging him towards the other side.
“Wait, my friends,” Jay said looking back at them.
“We’ll talk about that,” I smirked and quickly strapped on and dragged him towards the other lift that would take us higher.
“Lago, you have a guest?” one of the attendants smiled at me.
“Yeah, let us through?”
“Go ahead.”
We inched our way forward and got on the lift. “Explain.” I demanded making myself comfortable.
“What do you mean?”
“Those. They aren’t your friends,” I told him.
“They are.”
“What happened to you and
Kate
?”
“Nothing,” he shrugged.
“Why isn’t she here?” I asked.
“Because she’s not part of the team.”
“Since when did you leave her?” I asked him. He stared at me, and shook his head.
“You don’t know the story, Lago,” he sneered.
“Enlighten me,” I told him.
“Later.”
“No, right now, there’s a long way to go.”
“No there isn’t, only 2 minutes, tops,” he rolled his eyes.
I took out the walkie-talkie from my pocket and pressed it. “Can you stop the lift? 2 minutes, please.” I said and immediately, it stopped. “Talk,” I demanded.
He sighed and pinched his nose bridge. “Fine, okay, so when I moved to Stanford, there’s this rule with no PDA, so we decided to keep our relationship a secret,” he shrugged.
“And you decide to completely ignore her?”
“No, I don’t ignore her. We’re both just busy.”
“Busy? And when she calls you for dinner, you turn her down and go with your
”friends”
?”
“I have a reputation to put up.”
“Is it more important than Lyn that you don’t care about her anymore?”
“I do.”
“Why do you not treat her right?”
“I haven’t done anything wrong, God Damn it!”
“And she doesn’t know that you’re here?”
“She does. She’s the one that I was talking to on the lift.”
“Why did it seem that you weren't interested in talking to her?”
“Again, I have a reputation to put up.”
“If they’re you’re friends, they wouldn’t care.” That shut him up.
“Can we not right now? Let’s ride,” he said and we got off the lift.
A few runs later, I heard voices through my walkie talkie. “Lago?” it said. I grabbed it and looked around. Jay was a few feet in front of me.
“Copy,” I said.
“Where’re you?” It was Jack.
“Towards the end of Big Bonanza.”
“Too late to get to the badlands terrain park?”
“No.”
“Well, hurry up because
Kate
is about to get herself in some deep shit.”
“What do you mean?!”
“Just hurry your ass over here,” he mumbled and I went into code red.
“Jay! Hurry up and follow me,” I said and dodging everyone - going as fast as I can, cutting through the trees and went towards the park.
“What’s up man?” Jay asked from behind.
“Just shut up.” I mumbled and went towards Jack. “What happened?”
“She’s pushing herself,” he said worriedly.
“And?”
“She hit her stomach on a rail, she landed on her wrist – she doesn’t have her
wrist guard
on and did involuntary
back flips
already. She doesn’t look like she’s stopping anytime soon.”
“Fuck,” I mumbled.
“Hey, what’s happening?” Jay asked.
“Jay! What the fuck are you doing here, man?” Jack asked giving him a
man hug
.
“Trip,” he said and Jack nodded.
“Take him,” I said to Jack and he merely nodded. I sighed and sped down to the bottom of the park where
Kate
was on her way back up again. I grabbed her.
“What Jack? I said I’m fine,” she sighed and turned towards me. “Oh hey, Lago.”
“What happened?”
“Nothing,” she shrugged.
“Do you want me to call your brother?”
“No,” she said right away.
“Then better talk to me or
John
, if not, Tristan will be here in 45 minutes,” I threatened.
“Fine, I talked to Ryan earlier.”
I sighed and pulled her towards the side. “I know, I was in front of him,” I said not sure of what to say.
“Oh,” she frowned. “Where is he?”
“Up there.”
“Fuck,” she mumbled.

Kate
POV~~
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Scotty asked me.
“Yes,” I honestly said.
“I heard that you hit your stomach,” he said.
“I’m fine,” I told him.
“Can you go on?”
“Duh!” I smiled. “I’ll always get back up and try.”
“What were you trying to land?”
“Triple cork,” I grinned.
“Did you?”
“Once,” I smiled.
“Well, go land it again and we’ll see how your boyfriend reacts,” he smirked. I smiled and gave him a hug.
We got on the snowmobile and got to the top again. I saw a familiar face. Shit. Audrey. I rolled my eyes and put my goggles on, along with my face mask.
“Jack!” Lago shouted out and Jack came back towards us with Ryan and Audrey, along with about 11 other people that looked familiar. “Who are they?” I asked.
“Oh, Jay’s friends,” he said and looked at me.
“Lago! Mitrani!” I heard from behind me. “Lyn’s challenged!”
Josh
laughed and earned a look from Lago. “Well, who do we have here?”
“
Josh
! Bro,” Ryan greeted them. “These are my friends,” he said pointing towards the 12 people behind him.
“Nice to meet you,”
Josh
smiled. “Clear,” he told me. I nodded and strapped onto my board. I fist bumped Jack, Scotty and
Josh
before starting my run.
I was back at the top with Jack and Scotty, since
Josh
went and a took a few of the cheerleaders for a ‘lesson’. “Epic run, damn,” Jack smiled. “I shall ask you to join Frends.” I nodded. Ryan was still there, so I didn’t want to talk. He might recognize my voice. “Guys! We got another one on the team!” Jack
shouted.
“Where’s Mikkell by the way?” Lago asked, “He hasn’t met our friend here yet, has he?” I shook my head. “We’ll introduce you during dinner,” he smiled. I nodded.
“Who’s your friend here?” Ryan finally spoke up. “Jay Dolciani,” he said holding out his hand. I just looked at his hand and back up at his face. Thank you for mirror lenses. “Okay, uhm. Epic run by the way,” he smiled his smile. “You did better than the best snowboarder I know,” he smiled.
“Hold it Dolciani. My mouth might be wired shut, but I’ll still beat the shit out of you,” Scotty joked.
“Didn’t say it was you,” Ryan stuck his tongue out.
“Oh…,” Scotty smirked.
Ryan looked around, and back at me. “I know a girl better that Scotty,” he whispered. I just shrugged.
“Lago!” I heard an unfamiliar voice.
“Bang! Come over here and meet somebody,” Scotty smiled at him.
“I heard there was a chick that beat Shaun,” Mikkel laughed. “You must be Shaun’s long lost sister,” he grinned at me and held out his hand. I pulled down my facemask and smiled at him. “It would be nicer if I saw your whole face but your smile is already dazzling, I wouldn’t know if I’d be worthy to see your whole face,” Mikkel winked at me. I threw my head back doing a silent laugh. “What? Am I not worthy to hear your voice?”
“She’s quiet,” Scotty said and gave Mikkel an ‘I’ll tell you later’ look. “Well, Mikkel, meet us at the cabin for dinner? Yes? We have a guest that would be cooking.”
“Alright man, see you later. And you too, Ms. Lyn,” Bang smiled before fist pumping all three of us and went down the pipe.
“Well, we’ll see you later. Awesome run today,” Lago smiled at him and gave him a
man hug
.
“Join us later. Night life, yes?” Ryan suggested.
“I’ll give you a call,” Scotty said and we were on our way.
