His real name is unknown. The nickname, Dragon, was given to him because of the red dragon tattoo that marks his left arm. He has a strange fascination for Zoe, and he often talks to Ravyn and Cael.

Gallagher, Jamie
James Cameron Patrick Gallagher was born in the back of a sweatshop in the Irish slums of New York. Jamie later became a gangster during the American Prohibition era. At the age of twenty he was working for the infamous Ally Malone. His mother disowned him because of it.

Quick to anger, he took nothing from anyone and refused to be tamed until the day a Portuguese immigrant’s daughter crossed his path. Instantly in love, Gallagher defied everyone to claim Rosalie for his own. He adored his wife and was trying to go straight when fate intervened.

Jamie was shot down in the street by police officers when he was on the way to the hospital to see his wife and their newborn son.

He is one of the youngest of the Dark-Hunters and is still getting used to his powers and responsibilities. He is wild, untamed, and extremely unpredictable.

Hawke took to the sea at age eleven and won his own ship at age nineteen in a game of chance. When the Revolutionary War broke out, he became a blockade runner to aid his fellow Americans. He died during the fighting when the woman he loved turned out to be a British spy.

Hunter, Kyrian (aka Kyrian of Thrace)
An ancient Greek ex-Dark-Hunter. Born prince and sole heir to the throne of Thrace circa 180
B.C
., Kyrian was disinherited when he married an exprostitute against his father’s wishes.

As a legendary Macedonian general, he cut a trail of slaughter through the Mediterranean during the Fourth Macedonian War. Chroniclers wrote that Kyrian would break the Roman stranglehold on the known world and claim Rome for his own. The motto on his shield read: “Spoils to the Victor.”

Kyrian would probably have succeeded in conquering the world, had he not been betrayed by his wife (Theone) and delivered into the hands of his enemies. He was tortured for weeks and then executed in 147
B.C
. by Valerius (not to be confused with the Dark-Hunter Valerius, who is Valerius’s grandson … but I can see you’re confused anyway. There, there. It will pass in a minute).

A Lynyrd Skynyrd fan and car enthusiast, Kyrian is married to Amanda Hunter and is the father of Marissa Hunter. Kyrian was killed by Desiderius/Ulric in 2005. He was revived soon after and made immortal by Acheron.

Kassim
(deceased) A Saracen prince in the Middle Ages who fought against the European Crusaders, Kassim was betrayed by one of his own and given over to an enemy who took Kassim’s life in revenge for the death of his son. So Kassim took it back, with interest … vengeance is a vicious cycle.

Kassim was stationed in Jackson, Mississippi, until Ash moved him to Alexandria. He was with Kyrian and Amanda Hunter in New Orleans when Desiderius returned to wreak havoc upon the city. He was killed while protecting Marissa Hunter from the Dark-Hunter Ulric, who was possessed by Desiderius at the time.

Kell
A former Visigoth warrior whose tribe was destroyed by a Roman army, Kell and his brother were sold into slavery and trained as gladiators. He was executed when he attempted to murder Emperor Valens. Not surprisingly, Kell doesn’t really deal well with anyone from Rome. He hates Valerius, big-time.

The son of a metalsmith, Kell also makes weapons for the Dark-Hunters. Combining ancient techniques with modern technology, his weapons are virtually indestructible. Because of his age, he is also able to provide the Dark-Hunters with the weapons they had in their ancient worlds.

He has a girlfriend, which is a constant source of irritation for Acheron. He plays drums in a band called Never Never, and he makes his own guitars. His Squire is Jamie Blackstone, a runaway he rescued off the streets, fostered, and then offered the position to when his own Squire retired.

He is exceptionally fond of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Kontis, Ravyn
An Arcadian Dark-Hunter/Were-Hunter leopard, Ravyn is the son of Gareth Kontis. Ravyn was mated to Isabeau (a human), who betrayed Ravyn’s Were pack to the humans while the male Weres were out hunting.

The hunting party realized that the women and children were being slaughtered when the bonded males began to die instantly. The remaining males in the pack turned on Ravyn and killed him (Wales, 1673). Ravyn then called on Artemis to seek revenge on Isabeau and her people.

When he made the bargain to become immortal, Ravyn lost the ability to teleport, travel through time, and day-walk as a man. He can walk in daylight only in the form of a very small Arabian leopard. In this form, he is often mistaken for a cat. Ravyn is stationed in Seattle, where his family owns a sanctuary (the Serengeti Club), but because of the laws of both Hunterkind, they are never to associate. He is classified as an
exoristos,
which forbids any member of his clan from even speaking his name.

After recently mating with Susan Michaels, Ravyn asked Susan not to petition Artemis for his soul so that he might remain a Dark-Hunter.

Kyros of Seklos
(deceased) An ancient Greek Dark-Hunter, Kyros was one of the first three created, along with Callabrax and Ias. Kyros fought beside Alexion/Ias as a soldier, but he never told Ias about his unfaithful wife because he knew the knowledge would kill him. Oh, how right he was.

Kyros was stationed in Aberdeen, Mississippi, when he went Rogue with the Dark-Hunter Marco. He tried to turn other Dark-Hunters against Acheron by spreading vicious rumors. He later redeemed himself, by dying to save Alexion’s life.

Magnus, Valerius
A former ancient Roman general who led conquests throughout Greece, Gaul, and Britannia. His undefeated army made even the Roman Consul tremble in fear. This Valerius is not to be confused with his grandfather—also Valerius—who tortured Kyrian of Thrace to death (though Valerius the younger was present at Kyrian’s crucifixion). Valerius the younger also witnessed Kyrian come back and take his revenge on Valerius the older.

Val’s father, Gaius Magnus, was a well-respected senator and completely evil bastard who forced his son to physically punish his half-brother Zarek. Val later came back as a Dark-Hunter himself to kill his own brothers after they turned on him and crucified him.

Despite this, Zarek still harbored little love for Val, and enjoyed shooting lightning bolts at him once he married Astrid and obtained his god-powers.

Val was sent to work in New Orleans after Kyrian’s return to mortality. And in a move that shocked everyone, he went and fell in love with (and married!) the deliciously insane Tabitha Devereaux.

Valerius is an avid reader of science fiction. He always wears a designer suit, no matter what the occasion. He doesn’t play well with most Dark-Hunters and it is imperative we keep him far away from Kell and Zoe, as well as other ancient Greeks and a large number of Celts, Vandals, Huns, and other groups who weren’t friendly with Rome.

Valerius was given nectar of the gods (and therefore immortality) by Zarek and Astrid as a wedding gift. Astrid’s bonus wedding gift was ambrosia—to bestow upon Val his own god-powers, so he could give Zarek as good as he got.
