Chapter 36
Game On
Blu called me and told me that I needed to get to the warehouse and quick. She told me she couldn't tell me what it was over the phone all she could let me know was it could ruin our empire. I didn't know what she meant by “our” 'cause this shit was mine. I dropped Miguel off at my condo and headed over to the warehouse. I drove like a bat out of hell, dipping in and out of traffic. I was mad as hell. I couldn't believe somebody was trying to fuck wit' my money. Whoever it was would pay dearly. I pulled up to the warehouse, looked over and saw Blu's truck, and quickly got out. I ran up to the door and before I could unlock it, she had already opened the door.
“Baby, I'm so glad you're here,” she said, hugging me tightly.
“What's goin' on, baby?” I asked, frantic. “Who tryin'a fuck up my money?”
“Follow me,” she said, leading me to the back of the warehouse.
I followed Blu to a room in the back of the warehouse. She turned on the lights and began talking.
“Look, baby, you know I've been down for you since day one. And I will do anything to protect our empire and your image.”
“What the fuck you talkin' about, Blu?” I asked, annoyed.
“Well, baby, there's a guy goin' around town sayin' he was your bitch,” Blu looked at me and said.
“Yeah, right! I ain't no fuckin' fag!” I snapped.
“I know you not, baby,” Blu said.
“Well, you know I don't play that fag shit. I need you to let me know who this nigga is so I can handle this shit!” I said, angrily.
“I got chu, baby,” Blu said, opening up another door. “Here's the nigga who's been puttin' bad papers on you.”
I looked at the bloody, beat-up face and my heart instantly dropped. Blu had Frenchie tied up in a chair with duct tape around her mouth.
“Wake up, bitch,” Blu said, hauling off slapping the shit out of Frenchie.
Frenchie came to and looked up at me. I could tell she was happy as hell to see me. I had always told her I would protect her no matter what. Blu grabbed the tape and quickly snatched it away from Frenchie's mouth.
“Ooooooooooouch,” Frenchie moaned out in agony.
“Now, tell my nigga what you been goin' around sayin'?” Blu said, standing with her hands on her hips.
“Budz, help me, baby,” Frenchie begged as tears fell from her eyes.
All I could do was stand there and stare into the face of the only woman I ever really loved. Hell I had her name tattooed on my neck. I couldn't take this. I had to put a stop to this madness, but at the same time I had an image to uphold. If my sexual preference got out, my reputation would be ruined. I just couldn't have that.
“Budz, baby, please,” Frenchie begged through her tears.
“Look, faggot-ass nigga, I don't know who sent you but they done really fucked up! Whoever it was, tell 'em they gon' hafta do a little more than send a he-she to tell my girl we fuckin' around.” I laughed, but deep down I wanted to cry.
“Budz, what are you talkin' 'bout? I thought you loved me,” Frenchie cried.
“Oh, so you still gon' try to play me, nigga? Only bitch I love is standin' right here next to me,” I said, pointing at Blu.
“Tell 'im, baby,” Blu antagonized.
“Budz, you promised you would always protect me, no matter what,” Frenchie cried. Seeing her crying tore me up on the inside. I wanted to run over to her, hug and kiss her wounds and tell her I loved her and everything would be all right, but I knew I couldn't.
“I'm tired of listenin' to this crybaby-ass fag. Handle this shit, baby,” Blu said, handing me my 9 mm.
I hesitated at first. How was I gon' kill the love of my life?
“Budz, please don't!” Frenchie yelled at the top of her lungs.
I had to kill Frenchie. I didn't know who else she'd told about us at this point, other than Blu. I definitely couldn't afford to be exposed; I had too much money tied up out in the streets. I knew if niggas found out my secret they wouldn't let me live it down and try to mistake me for being a soft-ass nigga. I knew Blu would never speak on this shit. I thought about turning the gun on her instead, but I still wouldn't be able to be with Frenchie like I wanted to be.
I couldn't even look at Frenchie. I cocked the gun, shut my eyes and let off two rounds, putting them both in her head.
“That's my baby,” Blu cheered.
“Problem solved,” I said sullenly as I looked down at Frenchie's lifeless body slumped to the side with blood pouring from her head.
“You okay, baby? You look a little sick,” Blu asked, while rubbing my back.
“I'm good,” I said, moving so her hand could fall from my back.
“I'm glad you took care of that little problem. If that shit woulda got out, it woulda been all bad,” Blu said, smiling.
“Get him outta here,” I said, giving Blu the gun back and walking out. I didn't know if Blu was really clueless about my relationship with Frenchie or if she had just played me. All I knew at this particular moment was I had killed the love of my life. This shit had me sick to my damn stomach. I walked out to my truck and threw up everywhere.
Chapter 37
Sisterly Love
I sat in Daren's all-black Benz with the dark, tinted windows for hours watching Budz's condo. The one he'd tried to keep hidden from me because he had Miguel living in it. According to the investigator's report, courtesy of Daren, Miguel walked his dog every night around the block and back. I'd already been waiting and watching for two hours. Just when I was about to give up and go home, Miguel came out of the condo to take his dog for a walk.
He would have a poodle just like a bitch,
I thought, shaking my head.
I waited for him to get halfway down the street before putting on my black gloves. I tucked Budz's 9 mm with the silencer in my back and snuck out of the car. I was dressed in all black as I casually strolled across the street. I had swiped Budz's keys while he lay on the couch sleeping. I went through three keys before finding the right one. I walked into the condo and looked around. I couldn't believe it was decorated way better than our house. I walked through the house looking around before going upstairs to the bedroom. I heard Miguel coming in through the door, just as I reached the main bedroom, so I quickly jumped into the closet and pulled the door up.
“Come on, Poochie, let's go to bed,” Miguel said to his poodle as they headed up the stairs.
I looked through the crack of the closet door as Miguel walked into his bedroom. He walked over to the dresser and pulled an orange teddy out of the drawer and put it on. The sight nearly blinded me.
“Get in the bed, Poochie,” he looked down at his dog and said.
The dog must have sensed that I was in the closet 'cause she brought her nosey-ass over to the door and started sniffing.
“Get in the bed, like mommy said, Poochie. You really bein' hardheaded tonight,” Miguel said, climbing into bed, looking like the Great Pumpkin from
Charlie Brown.
I watched as Miguel grabbed the remote off the nightstand and turned the TV on.
“Come on, Poochie,” Miguel said tapping the bed.
I watched as the dog ran over and jumped in the bed with Miguel.
“Okay, now you gotta be quiet cause mommy favorite show on. That's right Ms. Ne-Ne, read them jealous-ass bitches,” Miguel yelled at the TV while rolling his neck and snapping his fingers.
I tried my best to hold in my laugh. The dog must have heard me because she jumped off the bed and ran back over to the closet and began sniffing again.
Shiiiiit,
I thought as the mutt got to going crazy and barking.
“Poochie, be quiet and get back in the bed,” Miguel demanded. “Stop all that damn barkin' and get yo' ass back in this damn bed; ain't shit in that closet.”
Poochie was determined to get in this closet. I watched as Miguel climbed his big, fat-ass out of bed. I pulled the nine out of my back and cocked it.
“What's the matter wit' mommy's baby?” he bent down and picked up the dog and said.
The dog continued barking.
“Ain't nothin' in that closet. You wanna see?” Miguel said, opening up the closet door.
I pointed my gun right between his eyes.
“What the fuck?” he asked surprised while taking a step back.
“What's up, bruh? Or should I call you sis?” I chuckled while still pointing the gun at him.
“What the fuck you doin' in my house, Blu?” he asked as the dog continued barking.
“Aren't you happy to see me? It's been awhile,” I said.
“It's okay, Poochie,” Miguel said, attempting to calm down his annoying dog. “Look, you need to get the fuck up outta here. Budz will be home soon so you need to leave.”
“Budz ain't comin' over here tonight,” I said.
“Okay, he'll be here at one a.m. just like clockwork. If he catches you in here you know that's gon' be yo' ass,” Miguel said, hoping to scare me.
“Look, you might as well lay yo' fat-ass down 'cause like I said, Budz ain't comin' over here tonight.”
“What makes you think that?” Miguel asked.
“'Cause, I crushed up three hundred milligrams of Promethazine in his dinner tonight. That's how I know he's not comin' over. He's at home sleepin' like a newborn baby,” I looked at Miguel and said.
“Oh my goodness you really are crazy just like your daddy!” Miguel said, looking at me like he'd just seen a ghost.
“You don't even know my damn daddy, nigga, to call him crazy. If you knew him like you thought you did, you woulda known that Mr. Davenport was my real father,” I said.
Miguel's eyes got real big.
“Yeah, that's right. Mr. Davenport.”
“Oh my goodness. I didn't even know,” Miguel said, shaking his head.
“I know you didn't. That was always your problem growin' up. You always thought you knew everything but didn't know shit!” I said, getting angry.
“What do you want from me, Blu?” Miguel asked. “Is it money? Whatever it is, just don't hurt me,” he panicked while staring at my gun.
I couldn't help but laugh. “Miguel? That is still your name isn't it?” I joked. “There's not enough money in the world that you could offer me to make me not kill yo' ass.”
“What do you wanna kill me for, Blu? What the fuck have I done to you?” Miguel asked.
“Do you really need to ask that question?”
“Is it because Budz like my pussy better than yours? I don't make that nigga come to me. That's not my fault. You should be killin' him and not me,” Miguel said.
“Oh, don't worry, I'm gon' kill his ass too,” I said, nonchalantly.
“Oh my God, Blu, I'm your brother,” Miguel said and began to cry.
“Are you?” I said looking him up and down. “You're pitiful just like yo' momma.”
“How you gon' say that about the woman who gave birth to you?” Miguel asked.
“Fuck her!” I shouted angrily. “She never done a muthafuckin' thing for me!”
Miguel didn't say a word because he knew what I was saying was true because she'd never done anything for him either.
“Give me one good reason why I should let you live. You got ten seconds to give me a good enough reason,” I said and began counting.
“Oh my goodness, Blu, you are fuckin' crazy for real!” Miguel shouted as Poochie went bananas.
“You're wastin' time.” I smiled.
“Because, oh shit!”
“Ten,” I shouted before putting a bullet right between Miguel's eyes.
I am really gettin' good at this killin' shit,
I thought as I watched Miguel's big body hit the floor.
Poochie flipped out. She began barking and growling like a damn fool. I put a bullet in Poochie too just for the fuck of it. I looked down at Miguel, stepped over his dead body, and headed down the stairs and out the door. I walked back over to Mr. Davenport's car and headed to the chop shop. His workers had already been told to destroy the car just in case somebody could identify it. I changed clothes before getting into my own truck and smiling all the way home.
I walked in the house and looked down at Budz who was still sound asleep on the couch.
I shoud kill this bitch
-
ass nigga right now, but it ain't time,
I thought as I laid his keys back where they were and headed upstairs to bed. My plans were definitely falling into place; nothing and nobody could stop me. Before long I would be the Queen of Chicago, I thought, as I drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 38
Black Out
I was lyin' on the couch watching TV, something I hadn't done in a while, when my cell phone rang. “Talk to me,” I answered Budz.
“Yo', baby, we got him,” Budz said.
“Him who?” I asked, confused.
“That nigga Black that's who!” he said happily.
“What?” I panicked as I jumped up off the couch.
“Yeah, baby. He down here at the warehouse hanging from one of these meat hooks just like the pig he is.” Budz laughed.
Oh, my God, say it ain't so,
I thought.
How did you get caught slippin', Black?
“Hello? Baby, are you still there?” Budz asked.
“Yeah. Yeah, I'm still here,” I replied, hurt.
“Why you sound so down? We finally got this nigga, baby, ain't that what you wanted?”
“I'm not down; I'm just a little overwhelmed. I'm glad that you finally got him. Is he still alive?” I asked, hoping he said yes.
“Yeah, this bitch-ass nigga still alive . . . barely.” Budz laughed.
“Okay, well don't do anything until I get down there,” I said, grabbing my keys and purse and quickly heading to my truck.
“Oh, don't worry I won't. I wouldn't let my queen miss this for all the money in the world. Speakin' of money, grab Yogi's ten stacks from the safe before you come down here; matter fact give him an extra five. I'm feeling extra generous today,” Budz said.
Yogi, you dirty, two
-
face, rat bastard!
I thought.
I got half a mind to tell Budz you tried to fuck me, but that would make me just as shady as you! And I ain't cut like that!
“A'iiiight,” I said, hanging up.
My feelings were so hurt as I drove down to the warehouse. Only thing I could keep thinking about was how Black was always telling me to remember rule number one: never get caught slippin'.
Well how the fuck did he get caught slippin'?
I thought as I drove.
I pulled up in the warehouse parking lot and got out. I slowly walked up to the door and I could hear Budz, Yogi, Ervin, and JB all in there laughing and talking. I walked in with a straight attitude. How could they be laughing at a time like this?
“Is everything okay?” Budz asked when I walked in. He must have noticed the somber look I had on my face.
“What's up, Blu?” everybody spoke except Yogi.
“Sup, y'all,” I spoke back while staring at Yogi to see if he would look at me, but he never did. I knew he was thinking about all the lies he'd told me; that's why he couldn't look me in my face. “I'm good. I'm just not feelin' too good,” I lied, while handing him Yogi's reward money.
“Well seein' this bitch-ass nigga hangin' up on that hook half dead might make you feel better,” Budz said, giving Yogi his money.
“Thanks, man.” Yogi smiled, while taking the wads of money and stuffing it in two different pockets.
Yogi wouldn't look my way for nothing in the world. That let me know right then and there that he was up to some shady shit! All the shit he talked behind Budz's back about how Budz had started dogging them and only wanting to pay them pennies for all the hard work they put in for him. And how he would never play Black by bringing him to Budz no matter how much money he was offering 'cause Black was out here in the streets tryin'a eat like everybody else. And this dumb-ass nigga had done the total opposite of what he'd said.
He betta be glad I ain't no rat!
“Let's get this shit over wit'! After we done here we gon' celebrate,” Budz said excited, attempting to kiss me on my lips but I quickly turned my head. “What? I ain't allowed to kiss you on the lips now?” Budz asked.
“I just wanna get this shit over wit' so I can go back home and lie down. I said I didn't feel good,” I said, feeling lightweight nauseated.
“Follow me then,” Budz said smiling as we walked to the back of the warehouse and into a room that was right next to Budz's office.
When I walked in and saw Black hanging from that hook my heart nearly stopped. His dreads were covering his face as he lay with his head hanging. His arms were tied behind his back and I could see the duct tape that was double wrapped around his head. I now knew exactly how Budz had felt the day I'd made him kill Frenchie. But if this nigga thought he gon' hand me the gun to kill Black, he had another think coming. I would turn the gun on him first before I killed Black.
“Is this bitch-ass nigga still breathin'?” Budz looked over at JB and asked.
JB walked up to Black and felt his stomach. “Yeah, this nigga still breathin'.”
“Good. Hand me that crowbar over there in the corner,” Budz said to Ervin.
I watched as Ervin walked over, got the crowbar and handed it to Budz.
“Wake yo' ass up, nigga!” Budz yelled, while hitting Black in the knee with the crowbar.
“Ummmmmm,” Black moaned in agony through the duct tape as Budz kept hitting him over and over, making me cringe with each powerful blow. Budz was treating Black's body as if it were a pinata at a child's birthday party. Black's dreads fell to the back as he struggled to lift his head up.
What the fuck?
I thought but kept my mouth closed.
“Now, bitch-ass nigga, I tried to give you a chance to leave my city, but you wanted to stay around and try to fuck wit' my money,” Budz said and started hitting him with the crowbar again. “You still wanna fuck wit' my money?” Budz yelled.
Black's eyes were big as fuck as he vigorously shook his head no. He was trying his best to talk through the duct tape.
“What you got to say, nigga?” Budz asked, about to walk over and tear the duct tape away from his face.
“Stop it!” I screamed out. Everybody looked at me like I was crazy. “Let me get some of him too.”
Budz looked at me and smiled. “That's my baby,” he said turning back around and handing me the crowbar.
I walked up to Black's lifeless body and began beating him senseless. I took every ounce of stress I harbored out on him. “Die, bitch, die,” I screamed as I beat him.
“That's enough, baby,” Budz said walking up behind me, taking the crowbar from my hand. I was completely out of breath. I wanted this nigga dead as much as Budz.
“Fuck this, body this nigga,” Budz instructed.
“My pleasure, boss,” Yogi said pulling out his piece and firing five rounds into Black's body.
We all watched for a few minutes as Black lay lifeless with blood oozing from his bullet wounds.
“Clean this shit up and dump this nigga's body in his own hood 'cause I want all his niggas to see what they get when the fuck wit' Budz!”
“Roger that,” Ervin and JB said, removing Black's body from the hook.
“I love you, baby,” Budz said, giving me a kiss on the lips. This time I didn't turn my head because what he'd just done he deserved to taste my lips.
“I love you too,” I replied with a smile.
“You still wanna go home or do you wanna go out and celebrate wit' us?”
“I'ma go home and lie down if that's okay.”
“Go ahead. I'll be there after while,” Budz said.
“Okay,” I said slowly.
I turned to walk out the door and looked over at Yogi and smiled. Without saying a word he winked his eye and continued helping clean up the mess that he'd just made.
