I was devastated when Blu stormed out of here. I didn't know why I expected her to embrace me with open arms. If she only knew what I'd been through for the past fourteen years. All the worrying, meditation, spells, and hiring different people to find her then just maybe she would have. When I was first introduced to her that night on the boat I knew my prayers had been answered. The night I came home and found Stacey and the kids gone, I thought I would lose my mind. I never bothered trying to have any more kids after Stacey left. I was too afraid of going through the same thing again. I had finally found my one and only child. She needed me whether she knew it or not. She was back in my life and I was gon' do everything in my being to keep her there.
Chapter 34
On a Mission
I lay in the bed later on that night tossing and turning. I had so many thoughts running through my head and unanswered questions about Mr. Davenport being my dad, I couldn't sleep. I needed to talk to somebody about this crazy shit, but first I needed answers and the only person who could give them to me was my mom. I knew it was going to be difficult getting anything out of her, let alone getting her to even talk to me after putting that bullet in Craig's leg. I looked over at the clock; it was damn near three o'clock in the morning. I climbed out of bed and got dressed. I needed to get my mind right before paying my mother a visit so I decided to go over to Nikki's house to see what was popping over there. I grabbed my phone and car keys and headed to the car.
I called Budz to let him know where I was headed so he wouldn't worry if he came home and I wasn't there, but the call went straight to voicemail. I waited a few more minutes and tried calling two more times, only to have both my calls go to voicemail as well. I was feeling some type of way about Budz not answering his phone because it meant he was either with another bitch or Miguel. The thought of him being with Miguel sent chills down my spine.
I pulled up in front of Nikki's house and parked behind Budz's truck. “What the fuck this nigga doin' over here?” I said to myself as I got out of the car. I couldn't help but look over at the Davidsons' house. I noticed the

sign in their yard as I made my way up the walk. I didn't know if my mind was playing tricks on me or what as I walked up on the porch, but I could have sworn I heard loud moaning. I stood and listened before knocking. I was right; there was moaning coming from inside the house. I tiptoed over to the window and looked in to see if I could see anything. My heart damn near jumped in my throat as I watched Sierra bent over with her hands on the couch cushion while Yogi hit her from the back and right next to them Nikki was sitting on the couch buck-ass naked while Budz stood in front of her with his pants pulled down to his ankles. She was sucking the skin off my man's dick. I watched as Budz put his hand on the back of Nikki's head and began pumping in and out of her mouth.
Even though I always suspected they were messing around, actually seeing this shit with my own eyes was a slap in the face. Budz always made me feel like I was jumping to conclusions and only thing him and Nikki did together was handle business. I had never come across anything until now. I knew I wasn't crazy. And the most fucked-up part about this was that Sierra who was supposed to be my ace in the hole knew the entire time that Budz was fucking this bitch. I had asked Sierra directly if there was something going on and she had looked me straight in the face and lied. I wanted to kick the door down and go in and body all four of them, but I was too smart for that. In my eyes all these unloyal bitches were already dead to me. Even though my feelings were crushed, I was on a mission to make it to the top and wasn't about to let Budz's dirty-ass get in my way of becoming the Queen of Chicago.
Even though I had seen all I needed to see, I couldn't move. I stood there and watched as Nikki continued to pleasure Budz. I guessed since he couldn't get it from me, he had to get it from somewhere. Nikki looked up and her eyes met with mines. She didn't miss a beat; she continued sucking Budz dick as we stared at each other. It was as if she started putting on a show for me. She then smiled at me, never stopping her flow. I nodded my head and smiled back before walking off the porch.

For the first time in a long time, I cried. It wasn't like a hurt cry but more like a cleansing cry. It was long overdue. It was time to put my plan in motion. Budz had to go like yesterday. And I put this on my life, that before I took him out, I was gon' do to him what he'd been doing to me for the longest. I was gon' make him suffer.
I pulled up in front of my mom's apartment complex and checked the clock. It was 4:30 a.m. but I didn't care. I was gon' take my chances. I walked into the doors and as usual the halls were decorated with dope feins.
“You got somethin'?” one of the feins asked me.
The look I shot him must have let him know that this was not the right time to fuck wit' me. I pushed the button on the elevator and waited for it to open up. I climbed on and headed up to the seventh floor. When the doors opened up, I stepped off. I didn't know what happened to all the courage I just had; it definitely wasn't there anymore. Feeling afraid to knock on her door, I turned back around and pushed the down button on the elevator.
“What the fuck am I scared for? I ain't no little girl no more,” I said as the elevators opened up. I turned back around, knocked on my momma's door, and waited for someone to answer.
“Who is it?” she yelled from the other side of the door.
“Blu,” I yelled back.
“What the fuck?” she said, removing all the chains before snatching the door open. “What the fuck you want?”
“Can I come in?” I asked.
“Who at the door, baby?” Craig said, limping into the living room. “Awwww, hell no, shut the muthafuckin' door! That bitch shot me!”
“Let me handle this, Craig,” my momma said.
“You betta before I do,” he said, turning to walk away.
I wasn't paying Craig any attention. He wasn't no fool; he knew I shot his ass once and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
“What you want, Blu?” my momma asked.
“I need to talk to you about somethin',” I said, hoping she would give me the answers I needed.
“Blu, we don't got shit to talk about. You brought yo' disrespectful ass in my house and basically accused me of stealin' ya money then you shot my boyfriend,” my momma said.
“Look, I don't even have to come in. All I wanna know is if my daddy is really dead,” I said.
“You mean to tell me you came over here at four-thirty in the mornin' to ask about yo' crazy-ass daddy? I already told you the nigga was dead; what you think I was lyin' to you?” She grimaced.
“Are you sure? Did you go to his funeral? Did his family tell you he died? I mean how do you really know that's he's dead?” I asked, needing to know.
“Look, Blu, I don't owe you no muthafuckin' explanation! I told you the nigga was dead and I ain't gon' tell you no more!” my mother snapped, attempting to close the door in my face.
I quickly stuck my foot in between the door and the frame. “So this nigga Mr. Davenport ain't my daddy?” I asked.
“What?” she asked, opening the door back up. “Who the fuck told you about Daren?” The look on my mother's face told me she was hiding something. “Answer me, Blu, dammit! Where do you know Daren from?”
“That's Budz's supplier,” I answered. “Now you answer me, is he my daddy or not?”
“Blu, stay the fuck away from that nigga. He's crazy,” she said as tears filled her eyes. I had never seen my momma cry before.
“Is he my fuckin' daddy or not?” I asked, not giving a fuck about her tears.
My mom slowly shook her head yes as the tears escaped her eyelids.
“Why the fuck you been tellin' me all these years that my daddy was dead?”
“Blu, that nigga is crazy. Please stay away from him,” my mother pleaded.
“I can't believe you been lyin' to me,” I said disgusted as tears of my own began to fall.
“You didn't tell him where I live at did you?”
“Why?” I asked, smartly.
“Did you tell him?” she said grabbing me tightly by both of my arms.
“Get the fuck off me!” I yelled. “No, I haven't told him, yet!”
The look on my momma's face let me know she was terrified and I loved every minute of it. I looked at her, shook my head, and laughed at her pitiful ass. I was through with this deceitful, lyin' bitch too.
I didn't know this for a fact but as I stood waiting for the elevator I was sure I heard her inside of her apartment scrambling to get her shit together. I stepped on the elevator when the doors opened, hit the one button, and continued to half laugh and cry as I headed down to the first floor.
Chapter 35
Contemplating My Next Move, Bitches
It had been a week since I'd found out that Budz and Nikki were really messing around. I kept my cool and continued acting normal. Nikki must not have told Budz I'd been on the porch 'cause he'd never mentioned it. Neither one of them hoes I'd called my girls had tried to reach out to me since that night. I was cool with that; wasn't nothing left to say anyway. I ain't gon' lie; it was hard, but I held it together quite well. I got up bright and early one morning and began putting my plan into effect. I couldn't wait any longer.
I grabbed the phone book and looked up Richard Mack's phone number. He was one of the coldest attorneys in Chicago. Word on the street was for the right price he could get damn near anybody off. He was the one who'd got Budz out on early release. After placing my call to him and discussing what I needed him to do, he assured me that after I paid my $30,000 retainer fee he would definitely work hard on the case. I then called Mr. Davenport. I needed to apologize to him for how I'd reacted when he told me the truth about him being my father. It wasn't his fault that my mother lied to me all these years about my father being dead.
“Hello?” he answered.
I was afraid to talk at first.
“Blu?” he called out, recognizing my phone number.
“Yes, it's Blu,” I finally responded.
“How are you?”
“I'm good.”
There was an awkward silence.
“Did you need somethin'?” he asked.
“I just wanted to apologize to you for the way I acted at our last meetin'. My momma finally told me the truth about you bein' my father,” I said.
“I'm sorry she lied to you, Blu,” he said, apologetically.
“It's not your fault. It was all hers,” I said quickly.
“Speakin' of your mother, how is she?” Mr. Davenport asked.
“I don't know. I went over there the other day and her apartment was completely empty. I guess she packed up and moved. I don't know why,” I lied. “I tried callin' her, too, but she got her number changed.”
“Good for her,” he responded maliciously.
More awkward silence.
“Blu, I know I can't make up for lost time but I just want you to know that if you ever need me for anything, I'm here for you,” Mr. Davenport said.
“Thank you, Mr. Davenport,” I replied.
“You're more than welcome to call me Dad,” he said.
“How 'bout we start out wit' Daren and hopefully I can work my way up to callin' you Dad,” I replied.
“That sounds good too.”
“Well, I have some stuff I need to handle. I just wanted to call you and apologize.”
“Blu, I know I've only been your father for two weeks, so to speak. And I might be oversteppin' the line when I say this to you, but I'm gon' say it anyways.”
“Just say it.”
“I don't want you wit' Budz. Once I found out you were my daughter, I done an extensive background check on him and it's not good, baby girl,” Mr. Davenport said.
“Is that so?” I asked, nonchalantly.
“Blu, please don't be mad at me for prying into your business. I know you're almost grown, but you are my daughter and I will do everything in my power to protect you. At the end of the day it's your choice if you wanna continue to mess around wit' Budz. All I can say is be careful and protect yourself and I do mean literally!”
“I'm not mad at you at all, Daren. I already planned on gettin' rid of Budz and I mean
that
literally. And as far as me protectin' myself, I got that covered, too. I know all about him fuckin' all these other bitches, and Miguel if you wanna get all the way technical.”
“You do?” Mr. Davenport asked, surprised.
“Yes, I do. That's why it's time for me to get rid of him.”
“Well let me know if you need my help and I got chu.”
“As a matter of fact, I would love for you to help me,” I said.
“Good, 'cause any nigga who fucks over my baby girl fucks over me as well and I don't like to be fucked; at least, not by a man.” Mr. Davenport laughed.
I laughed too. “I will meet you at your condo tomorrow mornin' so we can discuss details if that's all right wit' you?”
“I can't wait to see you, baby girl.”
“I can't wait to see you either . . . Dad.”
