Con lifted one hand to wrap around the back of Shaun’s neck and pulled him down into a kiss. Shaun opened his mouth to meet Con’s tongue with his own, rubbing his body against Con’s everywhere they touched. He felt Con stiff against his hip and shifted his hips, maneuvering just far enough to reposition himself so that Con’s cock rode between his asscheeks.

Con pulled out of the kiss. “Fuck,” he groaned, thrusting as if he couldn’t stop himself. “I don’t…. God. I want that so fucking….”

He moved so quickly Shaun hardly realized it. In just a few seconds, Shaun was still on his hands and knees, but with Con behind him.

He stiffened. “I don’t—”

“Not going there yet,” Con breathed from just behind his ear. “Just hang on a second.”

He moved away and then came back, and Shaun felt the cool wetness of lube touch his skin. Con’s hands cupped his ass, and a moment later, Shaun felt his hard dick settle between them.

“Not inside,” Con said. He pressed Shaun’s cheeks together and gave one long, slow thrust. “Just like this.”

“Yeah.” Shaun dropped his head and groaned at the feel of Con’s shaft dragging over his hole. He never would have thought that could feel so amazing. Not enough to get him off, but that’s why they had hands. And mouths, for that matter.

Con set up a slow, steady rhythm, each push forward and pull backward sending shockwaves of pleasure through Shaun’s body. Unsatisfied with being a passive partner, he braced his hands on the mattress and started to push back against Con with every movement.

“Oh yeah.” Con moved a little faster. “Fuck, you feel so good.”

“Fuck me.” Shaun breathed the words, but God, he meant them. He wished for a moment that Con would forget himself, forget everything, and just
take
Shaun. Take away all the uncertainty and the reason and just
fuck him
.

“Touch yourself.”

Con’s order, growled in that deep, resonant voice, had Shaun rebalancing himself on one hand and reaching for his dick with the other before he even realized it. He grabbed himself overhand, fingers on top and thumb on bottom, an easier grip from this angle. He began to strip his cock hard and fast, not wasting time when he was already so turned on he could hardly breathe. He let his head drop, hanging loose from his neck, bouncing a little with each thrust of Con’s hips.

“So… fucking….” Con gasped out the words between thrusts, and Shaun could finish the thought….
So fucking close
….

The head of Con’s dick caught against Shaun’s hole then, not tipping in but close enough to it that the sensation send a bolt of surprise and heat through Shaun, and he lost it. Without time to brace himself, his arm gave out as he came hard, shooting through his fingers and onto the sheets below him. His shoulders hit the mattress, his head turned to the side at an awkward angle, but he couldn’t move, his body gone limp as he shook from the combined effects of his orgasm and Con’s short, sharp thrusts.

“Coming!” Con ground the word out through his teeth, and a moment later hot wetness hit Shaun’s lower back. Con groaned and then gasped, and Shaun’s body shivered once more, an aftershock of pleasure in response to Con’s climax.

Con wrapped one arm around Shaun’s waist before lowering himself to the side, bringing Shaun with him. They came to rest spooned together, safely away from the wet spot Shaun had left on the bed, though he could feel Con’s semen running down his side to make a second spot between them.

For a solid minute, neither of them moved a muscle except to breathe. Con finally broke the silence.

“Swear to God,” he murmured. “Never come so hard in my life before tonight.”

Shaun didn’t believe that, but he was too wrung out to argue.

And then he was asleep.

THE EARLY
morning sun reflected in Shaun’s mirrors as he drove toward town. His body still throbbed and buzzed from his night in Con’s bed, and his memory kept replaying every moment, every touch, every kiss.

His hesitation might not be completely gone, but everything he’d done with Con had done a lot to help convince him that this was what was right for him. He just needed a little more time to absorb that before taking things public. So to speak.

The testing lab where Erwin had set up the appointment was situated in a strip mall on a busy street a few miles from Shaun’s house. The waiting room was full when he walked in, but a sign at the desk read CLIENT SIGN-IN, so he filled in his name and date of birth as requested and found an empty chair.

He pulled out his phone to check his e-mail and scroll through Facebook.
Should probably clean this thing up
, he thought as he X-ed out of yet another game request from someone he barely remembered.

At least it killed the time, though. About twenty minutes passed before his name was called, and a tech in scrubs led him down a hallway and into a small curtained-off area.

“Have a seat.” The technician waved toward a small chair with an attached tray that gave it the look of an old-fashioned school desk. As he sat she held out a clipboard holding a sheaf of papers, which Shaun took automatically. “Please read over these and sign or initial as indicated.”

She turned and pulled over a metal table on which several vials and other items sat. Shaun frowned. “I figured it would just be one of those mouth-swab things like on
CSI
,” he joked as he looked down at the top sheet on the stack. His eyes were drawn to words he hadn’t expected: “matching” was fine, but why were “donor” and “recipient” there? Before he could ask, the tech spoke again.

“Oh, we’d do the swab for just basic DNA matching,” she replied. “But since we’re drawing blood anyway for the donor matching, the DNA will be part of that.”

A jolt ran through Shaun. “What donor matching?” Had he missed something?

The tech stopped what she was doing and looked at him as if he’d grown a few extra limbs. “For the organ donation?”

Shaun’s eyes widened. “I… think you must have me mixed up with another patient. I’m just here for a DNA test. I don’t know anything about donating anything.”

The tech looked down at the sheet of stickers in her hand. “Shaun Rogers?”

Shaun nodded in confirmation.

“Birthdate 9/24/90?”

He nodded again.

The tech held out her hand. “Let me take those and go see if I can figure out what’s going on. Wait right here, okay?”

Shaun nodded a third time, mind racing. He’d felt weird about this whole thing with Erwin from the start, and something told him there was no mistake here. Erwin wanted something from him—bone marrow? A kidney? Who knew?—and he was trying his dead-level best to railroad Shaun into it. Shaun had no idea how Erwin thought he could get very far if Shaun wasn’t willing, but he supposed getting the testing done without Shaun realizing it would at least show Erwin if it was worth going any further.

Shaun didn’t have to wait long. Just a few minutes after the tech left, the door reopened and a different woman came in. “Shaun Rogers?”

“Yeah, and my birthday’s 9/24/90. What the hell’s going on?”

The woman held out a hand. “I’m Angie, a physician’s assistant here.” After Shaun shook the offered hand, Angie pulled over one of the ubiquitous rolling stools and sat down in front of Shaun.

“The orders we have on file for you do include a DNA paternity test,” she said. “But we’re also supposed to test for full compatibility. Blood type and Rh factor, to start with, but also a number of other markers. We want as complete a match as possible for any organ donation, but more so when it’s live.”

Shaun shook his head. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said. “The only test I know about is the paternity test. Erw—a man approached me recently claiming to be my father. I agreed to a DNA test. He never mentioned anything about any kind of donation, and I never agreed to anything else.”

Angie nodded. “Okay. I think the best thing is for you to talk to the person who arranged for the testing to clear things up. It may be a mix-up from their end. We can only work from the orders we’re given.”

Shaun doubted there was any mix-up, but he nodded. He held out a hand. “I’d like those papers to take with me,” he requested, and after a moment’s hesitation, Angie slid them off the clipboard and handed them over. Shaun took them as he stood. “Sorry to waste your time.”

“Not a problem,” Angie replied. “Hope you get things worked out.”

Shaun doubted that. He stepped out into the hallway and headed toward the waiting room. His instinct was to call Erwin and just blast him, but he needed to find out the whole story first. And that meant he needed to calm down and decide on an approach that would get him the answers he needed.

He needed advice and a plan.

And he knew just the place to get it.

Chapter THIRTEEN

“DON’T YOU
get enough of me at the resort?”

Just hearing Jimmy’s laughing voice made Shaun’s insides unclench. Shaun didn’t trust people easily, but something about Jimmy had made him want to bare his soul almost from day one.

“Hey, boss,” Shaun said. “You got a minute? Need a little legal advice if you can spare it.” Jimmy had recently reactivated his Georgia law license to start up a small gay-focused legal practice called Legally Gay.

“Anytime,” Jimmy replied. “I’m in the office, but it’s dead as shit, and Cory and Mikey are back in town. I could use a little stimulation.”

“You might wanna sit down for this,” Shaun replied. “Long story short, a couple weeks ago I heard from a man who claims to be my father. We met, I agreed to do DNA testing, but when I got to lab, they had all these orders for matching for organ transplants.”

There was a long pause, and then, “Are you sure that’s not the plot to one of those daytime ‘stories’ your gran watches?”

Shaun barked out a laugh. “I swear, if I hadn’t been talking to the folks at the lab myself, I wouldn’t believe it.” He blew out a breath. “I haven’t talked to Erwin yet, so there’s still a chance it really is a mistake. But my gut tells me it’s not. And I don’t know what to do about it.”

“What’s this guy’s name?”

Shaun could hear keys clicking and figured Jimmy was going to Google him. “Willis Erwin. I already looked him up. He has a car dealership down in Union City. Classic cars and used cars.”

“And he’s got that used-car-salesman quality?”

Shaun snorted. “Snake-oil salesman is more like it. Something about him put me off from the start. Which is why I’m pretty sure this is his doing and not a screwup.”

“Well, it’s screwed up, that’s for sure.” More key clicking came through the line. “Let me run a few searches. I just got my research accounts back up and running for Legally Gay, so that’ll give me any dirt there is to dig. Should have some answers in a few hours at most.”

“Okay. So, should I call him or what?”

“Can you text instead?” Jimmy asked. “That’ll give you more control over the conversation. You could make arrangements to meet him tomorrow afternoon, and we can talk strategy before then. If nothing else you can tell him then that you retained a lawyer. That can be enough to put the fear of God in people like that. If necessary, I can write up something on my legal letterhead for you to send him.”

Shaun grimaced. “I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I don’t get the idea he’s the kind to give up easily.”

“Yeah, but unless he plans to kidnap you and drag you off to some third-world country for black-market surgery, you’ll probably keep all your body parts, at least.”

Shaun snickered. “Now who’s been watching soaps?”

Jimmy crowed out a laugh. “I plead the fifth!”

“Suuuuure, I believe you.” Shaun laughed again. “Talk to you later.”

“Later!”

Shaun ended the call and let the phone drop onto the bed next to him. He dreaded the idea of contacting Erwin. He was more than half tempted to just block his number and refuse any further contact. But he knew he’d always wonder, so he needed to know for sure.

And if Erwin was the liar and cheat he appeared to be, then Shaun would cut him off. Father or not.

“SOMETHING WRONG
with your dinner, baby?”

Shaun snapped out of his fugue and lifted his head to meet his gran’s gaze. He shook his head. “Sorry, just a lot on my mind tonight.” He forked up a piece of meatloaf and swirled it through the tangy tomato sauce on the edge of his plate. “Dinner’s great, as always.”

He popped the bite into his mouth and chewed, though in truth he barely tasted it. He’d texted Erwin, as Jimmy suggested, and asked to meet at the same coffee shop where they’d had their first meeting. A swirling mix of dread and disappointment filled Shaun’s gut. Despite his best efforts, some small part of him had let hope creep in, hope that he’d finally know his father. He hadn’t felt the lack before, but now that shell had been cracked open, and there was no getting the contents back inside.

If Erwin wasn’t his father, or wasn’t the kind of father Shaun would want to know, Shaun didn’t know how he’d deal with it.

He’d eaten half his dinner by then, lost in the fugue of his thoughts, until his gran spoke again.

“You know you aren’t fooling me,” she said, lifting her glass of sweet tea. “Whatever’s going on, it’s not nothing. You don’t have to tell me. I’m not gonna be angry or hurt. But if there’s anything I can do to help….”

Shaun’s chest tightened, too full of love. “I’m okay, really,” he said. “I just have a lot to think about. I promise, I’ll tell you all about it as soon as I get things straight in my head.”

Sherry nodded. “All right, then. Eat your dinner, and I’ll let you alone.”

Shaun swallowed and picked up a forkful of mashed potatoes. Then he realized there was something he could tell her about. “Oh,” he said. “I forgot I hadn’t told you this. My boss offered me a promotion.”

That got her attention. “Already? You just been working there since the spring.”

“I know. He wants to spend less time working at the resort, like, the day-to-day stuff. He offered me more money. I’d need to stay over there more often, especially on weekends, though. I don’t know if I feel right leaving you alone here that much.”
