She tried to calm his fears by saying, “It doesn’t matter how much pain I may be in, I know you will both be here the entire time and will take care of me. When all three of them were naked and back in the bed,

and Adrian both grabbed for her, but Adrian didn’t know what to do. He knew that she may suffer if she were to turn but wasn’t expecting it to be this bad. He knew they could both feel how much pain she was in, and theirs wasn’t even close to how bad she must feel.

Nikkos
and Adrian took turns holding her and wetting cold cloths to put on her head. Her skin felt like it was on fire, and when she stopped screaming, all she could do was cry. They went on like this for what seemed like days but was really about twelve hours. Others had come to check on them and see if they needed anything, but
Adrian
had turned everyone away. This was his fault, and he would take care of her. After the twelve hours, she finally stopped crying and fell into a deep sleep. Her heart rate and breathing slowed so much they thought for sure they were going to lose her. They each lay beside her, holding her tight, as if that would keep her with them.

wasn’t sure if it worked. He knew she had to be exhausted from the hours she’d just spent screaming and crying, but she hadn’t moved a muscle since she fell asleep. He wondered if she was going to wake up. And if she did, if she was going to blame him for her pain and not want him anymore.

Chapter Thirty-One

Anstice woke up surrounded by her mates. She was tired and sore all over, which reminded her of the first time she woke in this very same bed. Even though she felt sore, she also felt stronger. She didn’t remember a lot of what happened after she bonded with
Adrian
, only that one minute she was talking to him in her head and the next, she was in more pain than she had ever felt in her life.

It had felt like someone was tearing her apart piece by piece. She knew the males felt it, too, because every once in a while when the pain subsided enough for her to be coherent, they were both by her side, crying. Of course, they were her mates, so they would have felt her pain, too. She hoped it wasn’t too bad for them and they were able to block it, because she never wanted anyone to feel like she had. But knowing them, they felt the need to suffer with her and felt everything because they were mates.

Yes, they were both her mates now, and she was a vampire. With that thought, she carefully lifted her hand to her mouth and felt the fangs she knew she now had. She remembered her mouth burning as they pushed her teeth out of the way as they grew in. She wanted to get up and go look in a mirror to see if anything else had changed with her, but her two mates were wrapped tightly around her, and she knew she wasn’t going to get out of the bed without waking them.

She was embarrassed when she realized she was going to have to wake them up to go to the bathroom. Still, she knew they had gone through hell with her and needed to rest, so she tried to pry their arms from her body. It didn’t work. She assured them that she was fine and just needed to go use the bathroom.

I was just thinking of what you said and imagined who accommodated your needs when you went through this. I know it was long before you met me, and I have no reason to be jealous, but I couldn’t seem to help myself. I wanted to find the women and tear their throats out.”

Both males started laughing. Her glare cut off their laughs, but they both reached for her again. She let them pull her down to lie between them as

have been with before me.” At his admission, she giggled and said, “I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s homicidal.”

He growled. “I will always miss you when you’re not in my arms, doesn’t matter if it’s seconds or days. But if you want to go spend some alone time with you daughter, I understand. You haven’t seen her in a long time and didn’t get much time with her before we came in here and completed the bonding.”

She leaned in and gave him another quick kiss before promising to be back soon.

Anstice forgot to look and see what time it was and had no idea how long she had been in the bedroom, so she quietly opened Kassie’s door in case the little girl was sleeping. She found the room empty and started to panic until she remembered Damian’s promise to keep the girl safe. She left the room and went on a search for them.

As she walked around the mansion, she heard voices coming from the pool. When she stepped in the room, her heart almost stopped. Kassie was standing on the diving board getting ready to jump in. Anstice called out to stop her until she realized Damian was only a few feet from where she would land in the water. She watched with pride as the girl jumped in, immediately resurfaced, and swam with grace toward Damian’s waiting arms. She let out the breath she didn’t know she was holding, which drew their attention.

“Look, Mommy, Damian taught me to swim. I’m a big girl now.” Anstice’s felt tears prick her eyes as she thought of all the things she had missed her child learning the last few years. “Yes, sweetie, you sure are. I’m so proud of you.”

Damian shifted the child from his arms to his back and swam to the side of the pool, easily lifting them both out of the water. He walked over to her and apologized. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think. I should have waited and let you teach her. She was just so eager to go swimming and wanted to learn.”

Anstice stopped his rant and said, “That’s okay, I have many more years to teach her things. I’m glad she has you to take care of her and teach her.”
