A few hours later I woke up to an enormous amount of heat. I woke up sweating. I opened my eyes to the bright sunlight that was streaming into the palm fronds.

"Zak?" I whispered, but there was no answer. I crawled out of the makeshift shelter and onto the sand and hot warm wind. I scanned the sand but did not see Zak. The boat was clearly in sight but not him. As I looked at the ocean it was clearly calling my name in order to cool off the heat. But once again I was without the proper clothing. I walk to the shoreline and scanned again for Zak. He was nowhere in sight. I could only assume he was in the jungle picking fruit or doing some other Navy seal tactic to impress me. So I slipped off my jeans and my shirt and ran into the ocean diving in just as the waves crashed against me. The cold water instantly cooled my hot body, and it was refreshing.

Then I saw him. With my eyes open underwater I could clearly see him swimming around just a yard or two away from me. He was completely naked just like I was. He held a handmade spear and on the end were two lobsters speared through and he was in the act of going after a fish as he speared it against a rock. I treaded water but my mind was frozen. My eyes scanned over his perfect, naked body. His skin was sun kissed by the sun and his six pack abs were well defined. His strong arms controlled the spear with skill. Of course I took a quick peek at what was between his thighs. It was perfect. He turned and smiled at me. And I quickly swam away towards the shore. We both came to the surface and I could hear him laughing from afar.

"Don't look at me! Turn around till I reach the shore and put on my clothes."

"It's nothing I haven't seen already!" he said as he laughed and swam towards me.

I swam faster and then made it into the knee-high water and covered my breasts with my arms and quickly grabbed the towel from the sand and wrapped it around me. Then I turned toward him. He was arrogantly and confidently walking through the water towards me. He made no effort to hide his naked body. His smile was dazzling and confident. My eyes roamed around freely up-and-down his body. If he wasn't going to hide it then I felt no guilt about looking. Then I saw the spear full of food.

"I think I could make a small fire now and the Coast Guard would not notice in the daylight. Not the way I make it anyway. Then we can have breakfast," he said as he raised the spear up implying that he had caught us a feast.

A few minutes later he had pulled on his jeans and I had dressed back in my clothes. Then I saw proof that he knew exactly what he was doing. He was in fact trained with many skills. Behind the makeshift shelter and hidden from the coastline he created a small hole in the ground and started a small fire piling rocks into the fire. Then he doused the fire in sand letting it burn for only a few minutes as the fire heated the rocks. Those rocks would stay fire hot for hours. Then he balanced the spear horizontally over the hole so that the lobsters and fish looked like they were on a roasting spit. It smelled amazing as it cooked. He kept giving me arrogant glances as though he wanted me to say out loud that I was impressed by our breakfast. I would not give him the satisfaction.

"So how long are we staying here, exactly? I need to get back tomorrow."

"I don't know. Let's wait a few more hours then we'll talk."

I narrowed my eyes at him. How dare he. Just because he was hired to protect me didn't mean that he owned me. I was not his private property. He could not boss me around. I cross my arms and would have stopped off but I was too hungry to move. The smell of lobster cooking and fish was too much to handle and I would not be giving up breakfast just because I was angry at his arrogant way of talking to me.

A few minutes later we were eating our breakfast feast it was fresh and delicious. Quite possibly the best breakfast I had ever eaten. I found it unnerving that I thought it was the best breakfast ever, possibly because it was fresh from the ocean… or was it something more? Was it the most delicious breakfast I had ever eaten because he caught and prepared it for me? Was I associating a good delicious breakfast with being cared for by this man? I guess it was possibly both. I looked out at the ocean tide. My eyes focused on the boat now sitting in dry sand. The tide was out. I suddenly realized what I needed to do. I would just have to wait a few more hours.

ZAK

I knew when I heard the alarm sound that she was in danger. I had read several alarms around her apartment. But there was one specifically that would go off if someone jiggled her door handle to her front door. As soon as I heard it I jumped up and went into action. There was no time to do anything except go from my window to hers. I grabbed my mechanical bow and shot a plunger line directly to her building. Then I tied my end to my balcony. Then I zip lined from my building to her window. I had made the right choice in picking an apartment directly across from hers. We would be in and out before the intruders figured out how to get in. I landed on my feet on her windowsill forever glad that it was open because of the peep show that she showed me earlier. I smiled to myself just thinking about it. But I had to push that image aside, now it was time for work. I was in full Navy seal mode. I quietly crept into her bedroom and to her bedside. I could hear the intruders just outside the apartment fumbling with the door. When I woke her I was expecting her to be freaked out that I was there, but I was not expecting her to be naked. The sight of her tanned breast full and bouncing as she sat up stopped me in my tracks. Even though I had seen all of her earlier in the shower as she performed her personal sexual release, it was somehow different now. Now she was directly in front of me. She was so close I could reach out and touch her. I allowed my eyes to roll over her breasts and then I gave her a little smirk and she blushed.

A few minutes later her naked body was warm and wrapped around me, clinging onto my back as I took her down the side building to safety. I had to protect her. There was more riding on this assignment than she knew. I would never tell her. It was none of her business. It was my only way of being reinstated. I had to do what I had to do. For now I would focus on this assignment. I would focus on protecting Ava Klein. That was my duty. It was my responsibility. I wasn't doing it just for the paycheck, there was more to it than that. I had to admit to myself that I was very satisfied that she was naked wrapped around me, it was an unexpected bonus. I found myself forcing myself to remain cool. Forcing my body not to respond to hers; it was probably the hardest task I have undertaken, and I was a Navy seal, so I had done some pretty tough things in the past.

Finally, when we reach the ground I initiated the second part of my escape plan. I knew she wouldn't like it. She would hate it. But I had to do this in order to leave no trail behind. If these men were professionals it was easier for them to track us on land. So I would take us out on the water to a spot I had previously surveyed. We could last a few days on the isolated nature preserve island using my Navy seal skills that I had learned for survival. The island was full of natural foods growing from the plants and from the bounty of the ocean. It would not be a problem. The only problem would be Ava herself. She would not want to stay long. Not after our introduction, where she clearly stated she could take care of herself. Sure, she was glad to except my help for this escape, but once we were in the clear she would want to take matters into her own hands. I would have to watch out for her behavior.

Now after having finished the fairly impressive breakfast that I have caught for us my mind wandered to the many questions I wanted to ask her. Her father had told me nothing except details of what she looked like and where I could find her. He only said that people were looking for her and they wanted to do her harm. And how much the assignment was worth of course and what he could do for me. That's all he told me but I needed to know more, not just because I was curious, but because it would help. So after I had dined her with my impressive breakfast and my Navy seal shelter I decided it was time to ask some questions.

"So are you going to tell me what this is all about?" I asked in the softest voice I could muster.

She sighed and looked at me with her dark eyes that penetrated right through me. I wanted to kiss her that very moment. I had to force myself to keep my hands off of her and not act through my feelings. This was highly unusual, this had never happened on an assignment before. Then again, none of my assignments ever looked like Ava. Her hot curvy body and her fiery attitude; just the type of combination that I was attracted to.

"No." She said turning away from me.

"I could protect you better if I knew what we were running from. If I knew what I was protecting you from I could be better prepared," I said in all honesty. The more I knew about these bad guys the better prepared and resourceful I could be. Maybe we could even defeat them to the point where they would never chase after her ever again. That thought suddenly made me realize that is exactly what she wanted. I didn't know how long she had been running, but no one wanted that life. Maybe that was how I could get the information from her.

"Look Ava, I understand privacy more than anyone. Your business is your own, I firmly believe in that. I don't like to tell anyone my secrets. But then again no one is chasing me. If you were to tell me what is going on perhaps I could help to the point where they never chase you again. Maybe I could help defeat this once and for all and you could settle down to your life here in Hawaii just as you wanted. You could stay and finish college and do everything you've ever desired. I am a skilled soldier. I could defeat them. But I don't know who ‘them’ is. You have to help me out here."

She looked at me in shock. As though defeating these men was something that never crossed her mind before. I think she had just come to terms with accepting that she would always be chased. Lord knows how long she had been running. It was probably just her way of life. Now I offered her a way out, or at least possibly a way out. I have no idea if I could defeat what was chasing her. Only time could tell. But I would have to start with knowing what she was running from and why.

"You could do that? You could defeat them?"

"I have no idea, but I could try," I said sincerely.

"OK, I will tell you. But I am very thirsty. I need some water before I go into the long story of what happened to me."

"There is some freshwater right in the middle of the island… it's a waterfall. I'll go grab some. You stay here and keep a lookout. Yell for me if you see any boats approaching."

"I will. Thank you."

I looked her over with her sad eyes looking up at me. I didn't know what had happened to her, but it must be something dramatic because of the sadness that lingered in her eyes. A part of me wanted to wrap my arms around her and tell her it was going to be ok. But I had no right to do that. I was not here to be her romantic partner. I was here to protect her. She was my assignment. I walked into the lush tropical jungle with a few hollowed out coconuts to grab some water for her. Then I heard a roar. It was not the roar of an animal… it was a motor. My first thought was that there was a boat approaching. They have found us. I dropped the coconuts and ran straight back towards Ava onto the beach. But it was not the men that were chasing her. It was Ava, she was in the boat as it suede on the small waves of high tide and she motor the boat out past the breakers. I heard her yell to me, "I'll come back for you. I have to go because of my assignment. I will not miss class. I know you were not going to let me go."

Then she did. She left me all alone on an isolated island.

AVA

As I sat eating my breakfast I noticed that the high tide was coming in. I saw the water underneath the boat rising slowly. Soon the boat would no longer be in the sand, but would have a few inches of water under it. It would be enough to push it a few inches back… just enough to turn on the motor and propel it out into the ocean. I would feel bad about leaving him here, but I would be back for him. After all he was a skilled Navy seal that could survive on this island for months if he needed to. I just needed to make sure that there was fresh water on the island. I have lived here for almost 6 months now, and I knew that there was a waterfall on the island. But I had no idea whether or not it would flow year round. But I knew that Zak would have worked out some way of knowing that there was freshwater available. Or he would not have brought us here. Then the opportunity came up. As soon as he started asking me questions, I felt the need to run away. Just as I have always done with anyone tried to get close to me, especially a man. Although I had to admit, the way he was asking me the questions was very sincere, as though he really did want to protect me. I believed him. I could not hide the sadness in my eyes, and then he said something that I was not expecting, or had even dreamed about. He said that he could possibly get rid of these men forever. That he could defeat them. But he didn't know that these men were working for something much larger than them. They were just sent to do their masters work. They were just good contractors, sent to do their masters work. So in order for Zak to defeat this thing that I have been running away from he would have to defeat the man that these men were working for. He would not want to get into that. But just the thought of it made me very happy. I never thought that one day what I had been running from could just go away, disappear, and I would be free. For now I would have to focus on getting away from here. I knew Zak would not let me go to class and I absolutely needed to go. This assignment and field trip to the volcano meant more to me than anything else right now. I would risk my life for it. I would have to leave him here. So as soon as I saw the tide come in I took my chance. I sent him to fetch some freshwater and the soon as he was out of sight, I jumped in the boat and I left.
