“Had he lived, I would have never loved you.” I looked over the monument, never looking at him.

“Loved?” His head now lowered.

“You never gave me a chance Hephaistos, you ran the moment you were afraid to get hurt.” I murmured.

“So it was a test I failed? So now I truly lost you?” His voice filled with anxiety. I turned to see his eyes brimming with tears.

“It was a test we both failed. We both lost each other.” I said as I tore my eyes from him. I began to walk towards Iakhe. She was waiting to take me back.

No Psykhe, we didn’t lose. You and I still have our story to write.’
His thought entered my mind, but today was not about us.

Today was about Leonidas. Today, I was burying my past and tomorrow was my future.

Evangelene Christina Orfanoudakis was born and raised in Montreal Canada. She currently lives with her husband who at times drives her nuts. She has been going to Concordia University for over ten years as a Classical Civilization and Linguistic student. The pull to the ancient world was too great for her to let go, so she continues her education so she could feel closer to the world she identifies with.
