My heart twists, loving him so much it hurts.

Scared because I know it’s happened too fast for us. We fell for each other way too fast.

I don’t care about any of that, in the end, because no matter what happens, I’m going to see this through.

“I mean it Paige.” He sits back down on the bench, bringing me with him, cuddling me against his body and wet tux. “You’re not pushing me away again.”

“I won’t.” By God, my voice is hoarse from all the screaming. “It’s scary, but I love you. We’ll try.”

His chest expands beneath my hands. “We’ll succeed.”

His self-assurance makes me giggle one more time.

“What’s so funny?” he asks, nuzzling my cheek.

“You know, my cousin used to joke around with me all the time, telling me I was loveless, sexless, and relationshipless. I guess I’m neither of those things now, am I?”

Elijah gives me that adorable mischievous smile. Somehow, despite the tremors still going through his body, he stands with me in his arms and begins making his way to the rose petal covered bed. “Give me a few minutes and let me get out of these wet clothes, and I’ll keep working on that sexless part.”

I laugh. “You freaking fiend.”

“Look who’s talking.” And he throws me on the bed, still smiling down at me.
