Fear tightened Farron’s chest. What if Jenny had similar problems? If she could not control her dragon – could not turn back?

“Damn!” He snarled. He wanted to do something, wanted to search for his mate.

“They are coming!” Orrigh’s voice cut of his thoughts and Farron looked up.

Relief filled his heart. There were at least a dozen dragons, heading towards his house. Friends who would help him find Jenny. But he had to warn them that it could be that Jenny’s dragon might be aggressive.

Jenny

She had no idea what time it was. The sun stood high and she guessed it could be around noon, but didn’t know much of this alien world, to be sure. She had approached the edge on her belly several times, to look down into the abyss. It was unthinkable to get down there. She had no clue how to transform into her dragon. She’d tried and failed. She wasn’t even sure if she wanted to turn into a dragon and fly. The thought made her uneasy, it scared the shit out of her. Sure, she had dreamed about it, or maybe it hadn’t been a dream and she had actually been flying. In her dream, flying hadn’t been frightening at all. It had felt incredible. Her dragon had enjoyed it, but now she was good old Jenny, and just thinking about going off that edge made her stomach turn.

What if the transformation worked only a certain time and she would turn back into herself – her non-flying-self?

She would fall and break her neck. No! She had to find another way. She wondered if Farron was looking for her right now. He had sworn to protect her – with his life – if necessary. Well, he didn’t have to risk his life – just come and get her out of this fucking cave. But then what? Would she have to fly on his back? That didn’t sound much better than flying herself. She liked adventures, but she was very much afraid of heights.

Suddenly something darkened the entrance to the cave and she turned her head to look what had caused it.

A big dragon with red and black scales sat there and starred at her out of light brown eyes.

“Umm, hello,” she greeted with a slightly shaking voice. The dragon looked frightening, even if he must have come to her rescue.

“Are … Did you come her accidentally or to save me? Are they looking for me? You … you’re here to … take me back?”

The dragon didn’t reply but let out a deafening roar. He came closer and suddenly she had the feeling that this dragon wasn’t here as her friend and rescuer. She backed up in a sudden panic. The beast opened his snout and showed her two rows of needle sharp teeth.

“What do you want from me?” She asked, trying to keep her voice from shaking.

The dragon growled, then he let out another loud roar and charged at her. Everything happened so fast. One moment she saw the dragon coming towards her, the next moment she charged at him with talons as sharp as razors.

‘Let me handle this!’
She heard a voice in her head – oh damn – she didn’t have a head, not her usual one anyway. She was somehow in this dragon, heard its voice.

Her dragon hit the red and black dragon with its enormous tail. The other dragon threw his tail in return, and Jenny felt the blow and the following pain as if it was her own.

‘It is my pain. The dragon and me – we’re one!’

Both dragons fought now with talons, fangs and tails. It was a matter of life and death. Jenny could feel her dragon weakening. She had no idea how long it could keep this up, taking now more, than giving. It seemed to be only a matter of time until the other dragon defeated her – her dragon. The pain with every blow was unbearable. Her dragon was bleeding from so many wounds. The red and black tail with its nasty spikes hit her dragon’s head and her vision went black.

Farron

He heard the roar of a dragon somewhere near and tried to locate it. What did that mean? Did one of the search party find Jenny’s dragon and it was indeed aggressive, as they’d feared? Worry and fear clawed at his heart. He didn’t want her to be killed – even if she really had gone rough. There had to be a way to save her. He flew in the direction, which the roar had come from as fast as his dragon could make it.

His blood froze, when he reached the entrance of the cave. Simrrich stood over the lifeless form of the most beautiful white and red dragon he had ever seen, and was just about to throw the final blow.

Farron roared with rage. He needed to get his cousin’s attention to tell him that he shouldn’t kill his female.

Simrrich turned around, facing him.

‘Stop! Don’t kill her!’

‘She has to die!’

‘No! I’ll care for her. I will make sure that she harms nobody.’

‘You don’t understand! She must die. Your place is with Dijola!’

Suddenly Farron understood. His cousin was one of them! They wanted to force him to mate the princess.

‘I thought, you would be on my side, cousin. We’ve always been close. How can you deceive me?’

‘You’re blind, Farron. It is your responsibility to guarantee the peace for our people. King Lathar sends me that I make sure that you do the right thing to restore peace. This … this girl has messed with your head!’

‘I’ve sworn to protect her with my life and I’ll to exactly that if you leave me no choice!’

Both dragons growled in warning and began to circle each other. Farron pushed aside all thoughts about their shared past as cousins and friends, and concentration on what really matters: the oath he swore to his mate – even if he had to kill his own cousin to do so.

He charged Simrrich and sank his fangs into the other dragon’s neck. Simmrich’s talons sliced open his side, but he ignored the pain and used his own talons, to inflict deep wounds on his opponent. He had to get his fangs a little lower, where the other dragon’s main artery was unprotected. He pushed with all his might forward, to bring Simrrich to fall. His claws pressed the heavy body of the red and black dragon against the wall and he let go of the dragon’s neck, to sink them in again a little lower, where no scales protected the main artery. It was the only place where a dragon could be killed instantly. He had to kill fast. He couldn’t risk being killed himself and he had to tend to his mate a.s.a.p. He didn’t know, how badly she was, how much time she had left.

The warm blood flowed fast and he drank from it, in order to heal himself. Simrrich sank to the floor. His light brown eyes looked at Farron accusingly.

‘I’m sorry. But you didn’t give me any other choice, Simrrich.’

‘You’re a fool,’
his cousin replied weakly.

Then his gaze went blank and his body shifted back into his humanoid form. Farron watched the still body of his cousin and friend with sorrow, but he didn’t – couldn’t – regret what he’d done. It was the only way to save his mate. When his thought went back to Jenny, Farron turned away from his dead cousin and rushed to the white and red dragon. He bent over the still form and sank his fangs into the dragon’s neck, to inject the healing essence.

Jenny

When Jenny gained consciousness and saw Farron’s dragon crouching over her, she felt a rush of relief. He had come and must have fought the red and black dragon to save her – just as he had sworn. The dragon flickered, and in the blink of an eye later, Farron was at its place, looking at her with concern.

“How are you?”

“Good,” she murmured, a little shy. She was more than aware that she only had her thin nightgown on and it was so torn that she was practically naked.

“I nearly came to late.”

She could hear the fear he had felt in his voice.

He held out a hand and pushed a blond strand of hair out of her face. Her heartbeat quickened. His gaze bore into her and she felt as if he could see right into her very soul. Suddenly she couldn’t understand anymore why she had fought what had been so obvious all along. She felt for this alien man, who had saved her life now for the second time. She knew now that this man would do whatever it took to keep her safe. She could trust him.

“I’ve been worried sick,” he admitted hoarsely. “If I would loose you …” His voice cracked and he pulled her close, crushing her lips with his.

A moan tore from her mouth and she wound her arms around his neck, to pull him even closer. She responded to his kiss hungrily until he broke free from her kiss, starring at her.

“I can’t take you here on the rough stones. Come! Let’s fly home!”

“I … I’m scared!”

“Are you still … a virgin? I’ll be gentle – I promise …”

She laughed softly.

“No, not because of that! – I am scared of heights.”

“But you flew to this cave. What you did once, you can do again. I’m with you, to keep you safe. Not that it will be necessary. Your dragon knows how to fly.”

Jenny looked at Farron. He was right, but she was a real chicken shit, when it came to heights.

“Do you trust me?”

She nodded.

“Then believe me that you can do it. Let your dragon come forward and then we’ll fly home.”

They stood and Farron gave her an encouraging look.

“Let her come out!”

Jenny could feel that her dragon really wanted to come out. She wanted to fight it, still not sure, but then she let it happen.

“You’re beautiful,” Farron said in awe. Then he shifted as well.

‘Come, my mate!’

She followed his dragon outside and to the edge. Farron’s dragon lifted up into the air and circled in front of the cave. Jenny’s dragon stretched its wings. It wanted to fly and Jenny could only let it. As soon as they had lifted off the edge and flew towards Farron, her fear vanished and through her dragon’s eye’s she marvelled in the rough beauty of the landscape down below.

After only a few minutes flight, they could see Farron’s house. Recklessly, her dragon overtook Farron’s dragon and she heard his roaring laughter behind her.

She was the first to land on the big balcony in front of Farron’s room. She could see Orrigh in the garden, looking up at her with obvious joy and relief. He nodded at her. Then Farron landed. Even if the balcony was very spacious, with the two of them together, there was suddenly not enough room. They shifted back and started laughing. Farron hugged her tight. She’d never felt so good.

“That was incredible!” She said happily. She could still feel the adrenaline from the flight, in her veins.

Farron lifted her into his arms and carried her inside. There he laid her down on the bed, tearing the ruined nightdress from her body.

“I want you,” he said throatily.

“I want you, too,” she replied and it was true. She had never thought it was possible, that she could feel such wanton need.

Impatiently she waited that Farron would undress himself. She drank in his glorious sight. When he was naked, he bent forward and placed his hands left and right from her on the bed, looking deeply into her eyes.

“You’re still a virgin, aren’t you? – You said, you never experienced sexual feelings before. – This is your first time, isn’t it?”

She nodded.

“I’m not afraid,” she said and stretched out her arms for him. “Come to me. Take me as your mate!”

He growled softly, and then he climbed over her. She opened her legs, to give his broad body more room. She could feel his hard length at her inner thigh and was sure that he would take her now, but he took his time and kissed her all over thoroughly. All those new incredible feelings he had awaken in her, took her breath away. She burned with desire and she felt that this was where she belonged. In his arms. Under him. In his bed, his life. They were destined to be together.

“Jenny,” he rasped.

Then she felt the tip of his hard shaft pressing against her hot, slick entrance. She moaned. Slowly he entered her, inch by inch. It was a very strange, but wonderful thing, to feel him inside of her. Her vaginal muscles clenched tight around his big dick. She heard him moan, as he pressed even deeper into her, until she felt a little burning sensation. He had reached her barrier and held still, looking deeply into her eyes.

“Ready?”

She nodded and he pushed through. A sharp pain, then it was over. Breathing heavily he held still again.

“Are you okay?”

“Yes. – I’m … I’m alright.”

He started to move inside her. Careful at first, but when she put her legs around his waist and her fingernails dug into his shoulders, he fucked her harder, faster. She could feel the climax within reach and held onto him.

“Jenny. – Come for me, my little firelady!”

And she came. Hard. A loud moan escaped her lips as the waves of her orgasm washed over her. Farron slammed a few more times deep into her clenching pussy, then she could feel how his seed flooded her tight channel.

A little while later they were lying silently in each other’s arms. Jenny thought about the future. She was happy to be with Farron, but she knew that his choosing her over the princess could mean war. If only she knew how to prevent this.

“You don’t need to worry. We will always be together. The Mesuthomer are fewer in numbers and they will think twice about going to go to war with us.”

“How do you know what I was thinking about?”

“I can hear your thoughts. You are my mate. We are one!”

“But why can I not hear yours?”

“I was blocking you. You can do that, too. Just a matter of practice.”

‘Can you hear me now?’

‘Yes, I can. I thought this was only possible when we are in our dragon forms.’

’No, it’s working in our humanoid form, too. And don’t worry anymore. I rebelled against the match making long before I met you. It was always clear to me that I would never mate Dijola. My brother and her are in love, you know? You don’t need to feel guilty. I hope my parents will come to their senses and allow Ferrek and Dijola to mate. I’m glad I met you. You have my heart and soul as much as you have my body.’

‘I hope, they will mate. We must help them. I want them to be as happy as we are.’

Farron laughed.

“You’re a real rebel, my little firelady.”
