“It's not stealing if he was mine first.” Tessa snarls at the ugly little elf.

“Yours? Oh-wait. A wolf and a witch? So many species mixing with each other these days. The best one though is the demon and the angel. Hilarious.” He looks between myself and Jaxon. “Then again, your parents did that anyway so I suppose it runs in the family, mixing things up and stuff.” I roll my eyes. He can say what he likes. He won't get to me. He has nothing to say that will make me lose it. “So, funny seeing you here. Did you ever think that coming here would be a bit, I don't know, odd?”

He obviously has all of our attention because all four of our heads turn in his direction. “I mean, you are here for Caroline aren't you Jaxon? You too Calissa. Witchy, you are here for Calissa and Mike, you are here for biting me because I said I killed your little girlfriend. Which is witchy here. Coincidence? Noooope!”

“What the hell are you on about?” I snap.

“You were lured here. This was a trap. Easy to get in wasn't it?” Yeah, a bit too easy. I frown at him. “No way out though. All doors and windows have been sealed. My boss wants all of your blood. We might have just got it.” He laughs again.

He claps his hands and then in walk six other demons. Only one I recognise. The banshee. She snarls at me as she sees me. I wonder if she enjoyed her trip to the Atlantic Ocean? Then behind the demons walk in two cloaked guys. Taking a random guess, Levi and Vepar?

“Ahh Calissa, how lovely to see you again. Oh and you brought along my very own daughter. Hello Tessa.” Levi pulls his hood off and Tessa tenses up. “Come give your father a hug.” He holds out his arms and Tessa shuffles on her feet.

“Tess, don't! Don't do it.” I tell her. It is like he has some kind of pull on her. “Tessa! Don't go with him. You know you don't want to. Don't do this Tess.”

“I am sorry Cal. He is my dad.” She gives me a sad look and walks over and into her father's arms.

              “No!”

“You think she'd disobey me? Not likely.” Levi smirks.

TWENTY

SEVEN

I can't believe she went to him. After all this time. All that he did to her. Beating on her for the past year, and she chooses him over me. The guy wants to kill me and drain me of all my blood. He tried to drain me of my blood! She knows this. Yet she still
went
to
him!

After Tessa decided to abandon our group, a swarm of demons attacked us. We fought the best we could but there were just too many of them and my mind was too focused on Tessa to be able to use any mind powers. I fought like a human. It did us no justice whatsoever.

We were caught and cuffed with enchanted chains and then Jaxon, Mike and I were dragged back down to the dungeons. A sleeping Caroline was carried in too.

They removed our cuffs and slammed and locked the dungeon door once we were all inside. They unfortunately placed us in two separate ones. Mike and Jaxon in one and Caroline and I in another. The guard that placed us in here mentioned something about not wanting any frolicking. Though I wasn't really paying attention. I was in too much of a horror stricken daze.

The cell that the guys were placed in is directly beside mine and I can hear them trying to talk through the wall to me but I can't seem to snap out of the funk I am in. My best friend of nineteen years just broke my heart more than Jaxon ever could.

At least I knew what Jaxon was before I got involved, Tessa surprised me. Ripped out my heart and chucked it into the Underworld for a bunch of zombie like demons to munch on.

I am currently laying down on the cold hard floor, I don't know how much time has passed but Caroline's stirring half snaps me out of my stupor.

She looks around until her eyes land on me.

              “Cally?” She asks huskily.

“Hi.” I say and attempt a smile though it feels forced. It
is
forced.

“Where am I? What happened?” She tries to sit up but I stop her and pass her the pitcher of water that one of the guards brought in for us. He had blue hair so I am guessing he is the one Mike was telling us about when Tessa and I found him. My chest aches at the thought of Tessa's name. Caroline takes a sip of the lukewarm water.

“We are in the dungeons Caz.” I tell her. She frowns and looks around the grimy room. “We were on our way to come and rescue you and we saw you crawling underneath a blanket, we thought you were one of
them
so Tessa put you to sleep. Then we were caught.”

“We?” She squints at me and this time, I let her when she tries to sit up. “Who else are you here with?”

“Jaxon and when we got here, we found Tessa's ex-boyfriend Mike.” I point over to the left wall.

“Where is Tessa? Is she in another cell?” I freeze at her question. Seeing it happen right in front of my eyes is one thing but to relive it?

“She is with her father.” I say coldly, not giving anything away. Caroline scowls and then recognition shows up in her eyes. She doesn't say anything though, it is like she knows exactly what will set me off. Caroline gets up and crawls over to the wall.

“Jaxon!”

              “Caroline?” He calls back.

“Yeah hi darling. Are you okay in there?” She places a hand on the wall and I curl up in a ball on the floor.

“Yeah we are okay. Is Titch alright?” Concerns drips from his words. Caroline looks at me and her eyebrows dip.

“She will be honey.” She whispers and I am unsure if Jaxon can hear her or not but he doesn't reply either way.

I sit in a corner and when she asks, I tell Caroline everything that happened from Crillin kidnapping me, making me believe he was Jaxon to Levi telling me what he wanted with me, him attempting to butcher me open and then finally, teaming up with her husband to retrieve her.

She sits in silence as she takes it all in and then lets out a loud breath. “So, you met Edward?” I nod. “Is he still as sexy and attractive as I remember?” I curl my nose and swear I hear Jaxon groan. Caroline chuckles. “So the Leviathan wants your blood to be the most powerful demon in the Underground?” I nod, again. “Oh I don't think Lucifer will be very please with that. Especially considering he
was
an angel himself too. We could go to him?” Go to find Lucifer and ask him to take our side? No way. I am not getting more demonic creatures involved. We can do this without him.

“No. I have a potion to ram down Leviathan's throat. If Tessa lets me close. She knows the plan. I hope she doesn't blab.” I close my eyes tight and try to send a message mentally to Tessa. I don't know if she can hear me, with me being this far away from her but it is worth a shot. “Tess, I love you. Please come back to us.” I really wish she could send mental messages back. Really, really wish that she was here but a wish can only get you so far, right?

“The potion? The one in my bra?” Caroline feels around her bra and looks at me in panic. “It's gone. Oh no. I am so sorry Ca-”

“Relax, I have it.” I tap the vile that is in my jacket pocket. Caroline smiles at me and then gets to her feet.

“So, come on then. Let's get out of here.” She has lost her mind. She does realise that we are locked in right? I saw the guard lock the door. “Oh come on Calissa. Have some faith. You are the strongest hybrid I know. Get up off your arse and use those powers of yours to get us out of here.” I hesitate.

              “I don't know how. I don't think I can. I couldn't even fight today.”

“You were in shock. It happens. You
can
do this Calissa. Have some faith child!”

“Titch. Caroline is right. You can do this, baby.” Caroline beams at me from Jaxon's words and I grunt before getting to my feet.

“What should I do?” I ask quietly.

“Let's start by healing me.” She smiles expectantly and I stand in front of her. I raise my hands over her and focus. When nothing happens and I start getting frustrated, Caroline chuckles. “Take my hand, it might work better.” I have never tried it that way before. I take her hand and allow the other hand to continue hovering over her. The familiar tingle in my fingers alerts me that something is working. Caroline sways slightly when I am done and then blinks at me. “Wow, you should so feel that. It is like being on drugs or something.” She laughs and I can't help the smile that forms at my lips. “Think you drained me a bit though.” She puffs her face up and exhales loudly.

“Okay, now what?” She faces the door. Tessa and I managed to get into Mike's cell without even trying before. So maybe I can open this one? I stand by the cell door and take hold of the handle. I try opening it and as I expected, it is locked. I focus my energy on the lock in hope it was me that was able to unlock it before and not Tessa. After a moment or two, I try the handle again, locked. I roar in agitation and punch the door, it flies open and I look at Caroline in shock. She looks impressed. We take a peek out in the corridor to see if the coast is clear before we exit the dungeon and slip up to Jaxon and Mike's room.

“What was that noise? Are you two okay?” Jaxon says. I peek through the bars and see him leaning against the wall with his ear pushed up to it to try and listen out for us. I don't speak as I yank on the door so hard it almost rips off the hinges. Jaxon jumps out of his skin and Mike practically hits the ceiling from jumping so hard too. I grin at them both.

“As cosy as it is in here right now, I think it is time we made tracks now, don't you?” Jaxon jumps up to his feet and runs over to where I am standing.

“Good to have you back. Thought we lost you for a moment there Titch.”

“Nah, not quite Jax.” I smile up at him and he leans down and kisses my forehead. “Right, what is the plan?” I look around at Caroline, Mike and Jaxon.

“We get Tessa and shove this potion shit down Leviathan's throat.” Mike states, kind of cheerfully. The plan isn't set in stone or anything but it's good enough for me. And them by the looks of it.

“Alright then, let's go.” We leave the dungeons, managing to knock out the two new guards on duty and once again, make our way up to the large hall which is now occupied. A hooded guy, Levi, Crillin, another demon of some kind and Tessa are either standing or sat on the stage thing. Tessa looks sad. She looks like she has been crying. What shocks me the most is that she has a bruise the size of a fist on her cheek. Anger boils through my blood. He hit her again. He fu-fricking hit her!! If Tessa can hear my thoughts, she doesn't make it obvious and to throw her off the fact we are barely fifty feet away from her. I send a small thought her way. “Don't let him hurt you Tess. You are strong enough to overtake him if you need to.” Her eyes flash around the room as she hears me though she doesn't move her head.

“Tessa, be a dear and fetch me some wine.” Levi demands. Tessa nods and leaves his side, taking a silver chalice with her. She slips past me and Mike pushes me behind him. When I give him a questioning look he simply says:

“A werewolf like me can mask other scents.”

He will
so
be handy to have around. Especially if I end up going to war with these demons. Again. We watch in silence as Tessa returns with a tray and the silver chalice on top. She comes up to where I am hiding behind a large velvet curtain.

“Daughter, wait there a minute, We are having a conversation that doesn't involve your immature little ears.” Levi snarls at Tessa who stays put right in front of me. I have an idea. I turn to Caroline. She is a mara. Mara's were born to be silent. She can make herself appear like black smoke if she wanted to. Within reason. I mean, she can't leave demonic buildings in that form. I pass her the vile.

“Wine.” I mouth. She gives me a toothy grin and steps forward.

The other three of us stand back and watch as she silently pours the small amount of potion into Levi's wine.

Once the vile is empty, we hide behind the curtain once more, careful not to actually touch it. Levi gestures to Tessa to come forward once more and she does. She hands him the wine and steps back while he drinks it. The potion must taste like nothing because Levi doesn't notice and soon enough, the whole chalice is empty.

“Dad? Can I sit down please? My legs are killing me and-”

“Stop moaning. You are so much like that mother of yours. Always moaning and nagging and driving me nuts.” He shakes his head at a quick pace. “Fine, sit down if you must. Only for five minutes though,  I might need more wine.” Tessa, whose jaw is clenched so hard I am afraid she'll snap her teeth, sits down besides the chair Levi is sat on. She twiddles her thumbs as if bored. It is risky but, I decide to chuck one more thought at her.

“I can't believe you chucked me in the deep end when I burped earlier. Could have said it was our shoes or something.” I see a small smile play at her lips but it is gone way too fast for it to be completely noticable.

I start getting bored. Something has to happen soon, surely? And I need to pee. So bad. I wonder if I can manifest my pee from my bladder to the closest toilet. I try. Nope. Just need to pee even more now. I refrain from jumping around on the spot as I clench my legs together.

“What's wrong Titch? Horny?” I glare at him from the use of his vulgar word choice and raise my hand, threatening him with the bone crusher. He leans away and silently laughs.

“If you must know, I need to pee.” I look away from Jaxon's disgusted face and look over at Levi.

No change. Then he starts coughing. Actually he starts spluttering. His face turns purple and then he starts convulsing. He falls off the chair, almost landing on a panic ridden Tessa and she doesn't move until he stops with his seizure.

“Dad?” She crawls on her knees and then checks his pulse. I see her release a breath of relief before she looks up at Vepar and Crillin. “Go and get medical help. Now!!” Crillin flinches and then dashes out of the room.

Ten minutes later, Levi has been checked by what I am guessing is a demon doctor or something and the words he says bring a smile to my face. “He has no powers. Levi has been poisoned!”

“It was his own daughter!! She brought him the wine!!” Crillin yells whilst pointing his stubby fingers at Tessa and jumping up and down. Creep. I cannot wait to kill this dude.
Oh look at you all murderous and shit.
Demon brain is baaack.

“It- it wasn't me.” Tessa stutters, climbing to her feet. The two guards we knocked out come running into the room at that second. Oh no. This isn't good.

“The prisoners are gone. All of them!” One of them shouts. Oh crap. My little group starts to panic when more demons rush into the large hall. We need to get out of here.

I lean as far back to the wall as possible, leaning into Caroline and Jaxon as Mike leans into me to mask my scent.

“There is someone behind the curtains.” I hear someone shout. SHIT!! Show time.

The curtains get pulled back and Crillin is standing there with a wide grin on his face, he looks pleased that he found us. Four more demons come running over towards us, I shoot out a bolt of lightning and aim it at Crillin, it hits him in the centre of his head and he collapses in a heap on the floor. Did I just kill him? I know I thought about it but did I actually just do it? I didn't even think the lightning would work!
