“With Ganges water we have purified our bodies, we are now ready to start the Havan (The Yagnya) “Baba Guru Nath announced.

Then he put sandalwood sticks inside the square kunda (altar) and added some amount of melted butter on the sandalwood sticks. He lit the fire .Slowly the sandalwood started burning. The surrounding was filled with good smell of the burning sandalwood.

“Through this Havan ritual we are using help of the Fire God in offering the Ghee (Melted butter) and the other food as our offering to the divine Shiva or Rudra “Baba Guru Nath commented.

He asked Ursula to touch Patrick’s hand while Patrick adds Ghee (Melted butter) on fire. Patrick started adding ghee with spoon on the fire.

Baba Guru Nath started chanting the Mantras from the Shabar siddi one by one. He was also chanting “Alakh Niranjan “at the end of each of the slokas.

After the Ghee(Melted butter) ,Baba had asked Patrick to add few specks of salt to fire each time the mantras or slokas were recited .Baba Guru Nath continued chanting the Shabar mantra while Patrick was offering the salt specks to the fire. Every time the salt flakes were getting burnt a cracking sound was heard.

The procedure continued .Camphor, Areca nuts, Flowers were offered by Patrick to the altar as instructed by Baba Guru Nath. Meanwhile Baba was chanting the various Mantras from the Shabar siddhi.

Finally he asked Patrick to light the incense stick and the oil lamp. Patrick was asked to move the oil lamp and incense stick around the altar while Baba Guru Nath Sang the concluding Hymn.

At the end Baba again sprinkled holy Ganges water on Ursula and Patrick. He had applied ash from the altar on their foreheads and asked to eat the Betel leaf and preserve the Arecanut to be kept in home. Patrick and Ursula followed Baba’s instruction. The first ritual almost took two and half hour to complete.

“This first havan of Rudra will remove all the negative energy in you, in your house and outside your house. Please keep these sermonized arecanuts into your house. They symbolize that the divine power represented by sermonized arecanuts are always with you to protect.

Before starting the second ritual all of them took a 10 minute break for drinking water and for some rest.

Both Ursula and Patrick were thinking about the similarities of the rituals among the various religions and sects. Like Holy Ganges water and Fire altar, they in their religion also used Fire and Holy water from the church. Similar to Biblical hymns here there were hymns and Mantras from Natha’s religious book.

“The second ritual we are trying to perform is to identify the person who is creating trouble through either negative energy or through evil spells. The ritual is called as Dhrusht Nashak havan (The destroyer of the sinner) which will be accompanied by powerful Shabar mantras to enchant the sinner to come forward and get trapped. “Baba Guru Nath told the purpose of the ritual.

Patrick and Ursula again sat in front of the fire altar. Like first ritual Baba sprinkled the water from Ganges on both of them. This was a part of purification of body and soul before starting the ritual. Then he again applied Vermillion and Turmeric powder on their forehead. He had given 1 lemon each in the hands of Ursula and Patrick. Balance 3 lemons he had put near the altar.

Baba Guru Nath added new sandalwood sticks to the fire altar and added few drops of melted better. Already hot altar from the first ritual lit up immediately.

“First we will chant “Sarv masaan badha nivaran mantra” (A hymn which is used to repel an evil or a spirit) which is used for repelling the black magic spell or an evil spell. While chanting this Mantra we will offer our offerings in the form of Ghee to the Gorkashnath one of our founder Nath who had compiled this powerful Mantra. Fire will be the medium through which our prayers and offerings will reach him” Baba Guru Nath explained.

Baba Guru Nath then started chanting the said Shabar mantra. Patrick was adding Desi Ghee (Molten butter) spoon by spoon at the end of each line of the Mantra.

“Now we will invite Goddess Renuka to help us to identify the sinner who is troubling you. The ritual involves invoking the powers of the Goddess Renuka using the shabar Mantra so that the sinner is enchanted to come to you. “Baba Guru Nath explained.

The second part of ritual started with Prayer and offering flowers to the Goddess Renuka. Then Baba Guru Nath started singing hymns in the praise of the Goddess Renuka. Patrick was offering the molten butter on the fire altar while these hymns were sung.

Then Baba Guru Nath asked Patrick to pick one lemon out of the three placed near the altar and asked him to put it in the fire.

“This First lemon stands for the sinner. By offering him in the altar we are praying to the Goddess Renuka to subdue this sinner. “Baba Guru Nath explained.

Then he asked Patrick to offer the second Lemon while he chanted series of the Shabar mantras.

“This second lemons invokes Goddess Renuka to enchant the sinner through her power to visit your home so that you can identify him “Baba Guru Nath explained.

Then he asked Patrick to cut open the third lemon into two half’s and put those two half’s in the fire.

“This third cut lemon will invoke divine power which will help you to go to his place and destroy the devil designs “Baba Guru Nath explained.

This was followed by offering the vermillion, Turmeric, Camphor and flowers to the altar.

“Now both of you bow before the Fire altar and ask for the divine Blessings “Baba Guru Nath asked,

Both Ursula and Patrick bowed before the fire altar. They also touched the feet of Baba Guru Nath.

The ritual was over now.

“Please carry these two lemons which were in your hands during the second ritual. After reaching your home in US. Please put these lemons at a central place in your living room. The person who had put a spell will come to your home to collect this “Baba Guru Nath briefed them.

Shikha translated and told Baba’s instruction to Ursula and Brown.

However Shikha was curious to know how on earth the person who had cast spell on Patrick will come to his home to collect the lemon.

“Baba Forgive me for asking a silly question but I am curious to know why the sinner responsible for casting this spell will come to Patrick’s house to collect the lemon. Will he get a dream to collect the same?” Sikha had suddenly become sarcastic.

“Dear Daughter that is the magic of the divine power. Do you believe Hypnosis and Telepathy?” Baba Guru Nath asked Sikha.

“Yes Baba “Sikha replied.

“If you believe that with hypnosis you can ask someone to follow your orders. If you believe that telepathy can help to connect the two distant people then you have to believe what I am saying. This is power of mind “Baba Guru Nath continued.

“The lemon when placed in the living room will create positive energy which will disturb the spell. The black magician who had helped the person to cast this spell will ask the person to go to Patrick’s home and asked him to look out for anything new. The positive energy in this lemon will enchant the vising person to pick this lemon unknowingly. This is pure magic of the energy which is all within us but we are unable to use it as we are not pure “Guru Nath explained.

Shikha was however not convinced but she thought it better to keep mum.

“I know you are not convinced. Wait for William’s to return and then check with them whether what is telling now has happened or not “Baba Guru Nath told Sikha.

The trio returned to the hotel. Both Ursula and Patrick were convinced that Baba Guru Nath rituals would help them to get rid of the spell .However Sikha was still apprehensive whether this would really help the William’s.

The Trio started for New Delhi next morning.

Chapter 23

Looking for thread

Today was the 16’Th day of the incidence. Both detective Bob and Sargent Tayler was still not able to move further. The last ten days of the efforts so far did not yielded any concrete results.

Meanwhile pressure from the police chief and the Mayor was mounting of both of them.

Both of them were in the cabin and were trying to again go through the heaps of the documents related to the case. Both of them were trying to find out if anything in the  collected documents could give them some important clue.

Just then the cop posted on intelligence duty to find out the lady who spent two hours with Kerren came to the station with his report.

He briefed both Bob and Tyler about the information collected.

“ Sir , the said Lady leaves in the central locality of the town. She is in her fifties. We had got confirmed information that she is a regular client of Kerren and often visits her, even some local people told that Kerren also visits her from time to time. “ The Cop shared his report.

“ Had you been able to trace her home.” Bob asked.

“ We identified the street ..She lives on Market Street ..However it is crowded in the evening so we could not pinpoint the exact apartment. But we have zeroed on 3 likely apartments” Cop replied.

“Good Job”

“Sargent let us post three cops in front of each of these likely apartments right from the moment. I think there is something fishy going on “Bob suggested.

Bob and Tayler also decided to move to the action point to fetch more information. They decided to change their uniform and opted for private car.

In the market street , they started moving around however their eyes were continuously on those three apartments.

Meanwhile the cops on duties collected information about the cars parked below these apartments and based on the car registration details fetched owner information from the transportation departments. The report was given to Bob and Tayler. Standing in one corner near a shop both of them went through the names of the flat owners. Two their surprise only one flat where owner was a lady.

“ I know this lady. She is also an estate broker “Tayler told Bob.

Job looks easy now. Let us now move to the floor and just have a causal round with the cop who had seen the Lady. If he identifies the Lady then we have zeroed on otherwise job would become difficult. We would have to then wait for cops to identify the lady and the related flat.

“ Bob I think this lady is staying here for a long. Look at his car number . It is a number series which is 15 year old “ Tyler shared his observation.

Bob did not pay much attention at this.

They took the round of the floor. To their fortune cop could see the lady through the open window and confirmed that she was the one who visited Kerren 2 days back and had a 2 hour long meeting. They quickly moved out of the apartment.

Bob and Tayler quickly moved back to the police station. They had detailed discussion on the next move. They have decided to question the lady in the evening before waiting for the next day.

“ But what if she gets the  information and moves out by that time “ Tayler questioned.

“  Our cops are posted there..” Bob replied.

“ Anyhow even if she escapes with his 15 year old SUV with  registration number N017 , we would catch with her within hours “ Tayler commented.

“ I think you had a fancy for car  numbers “ Bob commented.

“ Yes some faith in numerology. Look at her car number N017..The alphabet is 14 in the series , it is double of 7 the last digit “ Tayler provided further analysis.

“ Good command on number analysis..” Bob commented.

“ As we have the time , can you get complete details about this vehicle from the transport department. It may come handy “ Bon suggested.

Tayler nodded and asked one of the cops to get the details.
