We have all had an amazing
summer with a few crazy moments thrown in the middle. Who knows
what our future will hold, but one thing I do know is that I am so
thankful everyday that I came back home, back to Blackhill
Ranch.
Epilogue
“Turn around already!”
Chloe screeched, which made me bust out laughing.
“Don't make me mess up my
make-up, or I'll kill you!” I said and slowly turned so I was
facing my three bridesmaids. They all squealed with delight and
started clapping their hands.
“Rhet is going to lose it
when he sees you, you look drop dead gorgeous,” Sarah said while
rubbing her swollen belly.
Tina walked over and
whispered down to her stomach, “Stay in there, baby girl. Your
auntie is getting married, and we want your momma and daddy here.”
We all laughed and looked up at Sarah. She was completely smitten
by that small little life growing inside her belly, and her and
Cole were thrilled to be having a sweet baby girl. When I heard
they were naming her Annie, I laughed and thought it was a joke. I
felt like an ass when I found out it was the real name. I like it
now, but come on! Annie Oakley? Really?
I looked back at myself in
the mirror and tried to remember just what I looked like at this
very moment, because in a few minutes I would become Mrs. Rhet
Morrison and I have never felt anything like this.
Rhet finally proposed to
me about eight months ago. He took me to a hot springs and talked
me into going naked, and as I sat down next to him he mumbled,
“Marry me” which only earned him a slap on the shoulder because I
couldn't count how many times that phrase came out of his mouth. He
shook his head at me and pulled a little box out behind him. “No,
really. Marry me, Lexi? Make me the happiest man on the planet?”
When he opened the box I couldn't hold it in. My mother's ring
stared right back at me and I knocked him over sending us both
underwater. Luckily, he held onto the box tightly and didn't lose
it under the water. He placed the ring on my finger when we got our
breath back, and I haven't taken off since.
When I snapped out of my
daydream, I looked at my beautiful women and gathered them in for a
tight embrace. They all looked stunning in their cute brown
sundresses, and brown and purple boots, thanks to Chloe.
We stepped out of our room
and when I spotted my dad standing by the church entrance, holding
his arm out to me, I almost lost it. “Oh, now don't you start
getting emotional,” he said and wiped at one of his eyes. “And my
gosh look at you, you are stunning. Just like your mother,” he
whispered and gave me a sweet kiss on my cheek.
I held back my tears and
got in serious mode, “Let's do this,” I said and everyone started
chuckling at me. The music started, and one-by-one, my best friends
headed down the aisle to my destiny. I smiled up at my dad when the
wedding march started, and he squeezed my hand.
“Your mother would be so
proud of you,” he said softly. I smiled and nodded my
head.
We walked through the
doors and my eyes instantly found Rhet. My breath caught in my
throat, because this was the first time I had ever seen him in a
tux. And he looked... Well... Breath-taking. He smiled at me with
his damn dimples and I almost lost it. Good thing there was no way
he would end up shirtless.
My dad handed me off,
shook Rhet's hand, and gave us his blessing. I looked over at Cole
and he gave me a little wink. I then turned towards Rhet and he
looked at me with the most loving expression. The rest of the
ceremony went in a blur, but I do remember when we had our first
kiss. I seriously saw stars.
I have been so blessed
this past year and I'm ready to see what our future holds. I know
there will be ups and downs, good and bad times, but for now I'm
just going to cherish my lifetime love.
