CHAPTER 45

It
had been awhile since Logic had been to Baltimore and Queen had to admit that she longed for his special brand of sexual healing. Engaged or not she missed his slow hand,    his long stroke and his energetic tongue. Truth be told she missed him.

Queen
had abandoned all rational hopes of a permanent reconciliation with Logic a long time ago. Her antics with Teddy and X really hurt Logic and she knew it. Asking him to pick up where they left off would be like asking him to walk into a fire wearing gasoline soaked boxer shorts.  She really couldn’t blame him for electing not to travel that road with her again. Still a large portion of her heart would forever dwell with him.

By
some unforeseen miracle, fate kept Logic away from the wedding to witness that crazy ass fiasco of epic proportion and Queen was grateful for that. But destiny was about to intervene once again and return Logic to Baltimore at the most inopportune time.

Christian
wrote a book entitled
Sex
for Entertainment Purposes Only
.
Sexy, erotic, funny and refreshing this sex manual for the millennium woman was quickly gaining notoriety and popularity. In fact Christian had become somewhat of an icon from the day it was released. Teddy who had received an advance release copy used his celebrity clout to help land Christian a literary agent, lucrative publishing contract, a twelve city book tour and extensive media coverage. Unfortunately, everything was centered around the west coast.

Needless
to say Queen was not pleased when she discovered that Christian had to fly out to LA for three to four weeks to promote his book. Naturally she was happy for him but she really didn’t want to be separated from him for such a long time. She had finally gotten use to getting some dick on the regular and now this. Realizing that it was an opportunity of a life time for Christian Queen put her feelings aside and encouraged him to go.

What’s the worst that could happen? Christian will be staying at Queen’s Palace with Teddy and Logic is in the middle of his pre season training regimen.” Queen thought as she watched Christian board his plane.

Never
ask a question that you really don’t want to know the answer to, because the universe will take it as a personal challenge. Christian had been gone for a little more than a week now and Queen was beginning to miss his erotic touch. Working almost day and night and taking back to back overnight call she was determined to stay busy. Still nothing could take her mind off the yearning for a stiff dick buried deep between her thick thighs.

As
she pondered taking a quick weekend excursion to LA for a sneaky, freaky with her Boo, Christian, her phone rings. It was Logic. Queen looked at the caller ID and her koochie immediately begin to thump with the prospects of a moment alone with Logic. Knowing that even entertaining the thought of sleeping with him was a disaster of monumental proportion Queen chose to ignore the call.

Seconds
later he texted her and then called right back. Sensing that something was wrong she picked up his call.

Hey King of Heart, what ya doing?” There was no response, but Queen could hear the apparent sounds of Logic whimpering in the background. “Logic is everything okay? What’s going on?”

Logic
continued to sob unable to respond to Queen.

Baby please… tell me what’s going on.” Queen pleaded becoming concerned and afraid.

I fuckin said that I wasn’t going to cry, but the second I hear your voice I start crying like a damn baby.” Logic managed to get out as the pain he felt strangled him and caused him to choke on his words.

Logic you are starting to scare the hell out of me. Why are you crying? Is everything okay? Tell me what's wrong.”

Queen my father just died. I’m on the plane in route to Baltimore. I need you to meet me at the airport. I can’t deal with the media right now.” Logic manned up and somehow managed to say without breaking down again.

Queen
heard what Logic said but it didn’t register. “What did you just say?”

My dad just passed away. Can you pick me up at BWI around six?”

Queen

s legs instantly went to jelly. She searched for a place to sit down to steady herself before she fainted. Mr. Hart had been like a father to Queen for so many years. She took the news hard, harder than even she could have imagined. Sobbing as if she had just been mortally wounded she cried. “Oh Logic no…. Papa Hart can’t be dead. What happened?”

Queen don’t cry. Please don’t. Ah shit! What the hell was I thinking I should have let your parents tell you.”

Queen
was sobbing uncontrollably at this point. One of the nurses saw her and immediately came to her aid.

Dr. Queen, are you okay?” She asked.

Unable
to process what was going on, let alone speak, Queen gave her the phone to talk to Logic.

Hi, I’m La Shawn one of the nurses at Her Lady of Mercy Hospital. Dr. Queen is extremely upset and she asked me to talk to you. Is everything okay?”

Hi, I’m Logic Hart. Doctor Queen’s father in-law just passed away. Is she okay?”

She’s pretty distraught, but we have her.”

I wasn’t thinking. I shouldn’t have told her on the phone, but I wanted to talk to her. I’m on a plane from Vegas. Damn, I should have waited. Is she okay?” Logic rambled.

By
now a swarm of doctors and nurses had come to Queen’s rescue to comfort her. Queen was still sobbing but she was okay.

She’s distraught, but she's okay. Are you her husband?” La Shawn asked as she watched the staff calm Queen down. “Her father in-law just passed away.” She offered them as an explanation.

Yes, yes I am.” Logic sighed and lied.

I’m sorry about your loss.” La Shawn offered.

Thank you.”

Is there anything that I can do to help?”

Please let her know that I’ll be arriving at BWI around six o’clock this evening. I imagine she’s going home, so I’ll send a car to pick her up to meet me. I’ll call her parents to pick her up at the hospital. Just keep her there until they arrive.”

Okay I’ll let her know.”

Hey, can I just talk to her for a second. I need to tell her something.”

Sure, hold on. I’ll get her.” La Shawn offers the phone back to Queen. “Dr. Queen your husband wants to speak to you.”

The
distraught Queen takes the phone. “Baby I’m so sorry are you okay?”

Yeah, as well as can be expected. Look I didn’t think. I should have waited for your parents to tell you. I just wanted to make sure that you were the first person I saw when I got off that plane. I didn’t mean to lay all of this on you at work.”

It’s okay. Logic what happened?”

He had a heart attack at his store. They took him to University Hospital. He passed there. Look I can’t go into it right now without getting emotional again. I’m going to send a car for you. Meet me at the airport.”

Sure.” Queen’s phone clicked to indicate that she had another call. The caller ID indicated that it was her dad. “Logic my dad’s clicking in, hold on.”

Look, go ahead and talk to your dad. I’ll see you when I get there.”

No, hold on. He’s probably calling to break the news. Don’t hang up, okay?”

Queen I’d better go. I’ll see you when I land. Try not to get too upset about this. Okay?”

It’s not going to be easy but I’ll try.”

I love you Mye Queen.”

I love you too my King.”

Naturally
the heifers in that place went absolutely crazy when they heard that Queen had a husband. And not only was she married, but she was married to Logic Hart of the Nevada Kings. This was show stopping, late breaking news of catastrophic proportion and every tongue in the hospital immediately started wagging.

You
see, every koochie, young and old, in that hospital clapped every time Dr. Christian Love walked by and they all knew that Queen was his reigning queen. Queen’s engagement ring was as big as a nickel, as bright as the morning sun and commanded the envy of every woman who laid eyes on it. Everyone knew that she was engaged to marry Christian. Luckily Christian was not around to hear all of the insane gossip and speculation that was spreading across the hospital faster than the Swine Flu plague.

But
none of that mattered.  Queen really didn’t give a damn at this point. She didn’t care what they thought or what they said. She was devastated. Mr. Hart, for all practical purposes, was her father in-law and Logic was going to need her companionship and support. So, Queen immediately took a two week leave of absence to mourn his death and to be there for Logic.

~*~*~

Queen
waited all but patiently at the Baltimore Washington International Airport arrivals terminal for Logic’s plane to disembark. An emotional ball of nerves she paced the floor in anticipation. Logic appeared and it seemed as though all of the air was instantly sucked out of her lungs. Queen couldn’t breathe.

Vowing
to be strong and a shoulder for Logic to lean on Queen quickly lost her composure. Tears flowed from everywhere as she ran to him and jumped in his arms. Logic dropped his bags and caught her mid leap. He held her so tight she thought he was going to break her in half. Their eyes met and he kissed her full in the mouth. Queen reciprocated without thought or reservation.

As
Queen gazed deep into Logic’s eyes she could feel the pain that resonated from the core of his spirit. Logic was deeply hurt and struggling to keep it together. Taught to always be a man he choked back his tears and fears and comforted his Queen.

Hey, it’s okay. We’re going to get through this. Stop crying. You’re going to make me cry.” He whispered in her ear as he rubbed her back. “He’s in a better place. It’s okay.”

Sensing
what he was trying to do Queen instantly wiped her face and then wiped his. She kissed his lips gently and said, “I know. Let’s get you to your mom. She needs you more than I do.”

The
mere mention of his mom quickly strangled Logic with emotions. Unable to speak he simply nodded and sighed, “Okay.”

Queen’s parents were camped out with Logic’s mom at her home. The Harts had been Queen’s parents’ closes friends since they met. Queen knew that this was a difficult time for them as well, but they had each other to lean on. Her focus and only assignment was to be there to console Logic.

Towards
that end Queen felt it prudent to remove her blazing symbol of Christian’s love, her shiny new engagement ring. This was absolutely not the time to open that can of slimy worms. Brilliant and stunning enough to command attention from space, Queen’s North Star diamond was replaced with a simple birthstone ring that Logic gave her when they were in college.

Logic
instantly recognized the ring and laughed when he saw it. “Wow, I haven’t seen that piece of shit in years. What do you have that on for?”

Queen,
embarrassed and caught completely off guard without an explanation, simply flashed him the finger and continued to stare blankly out of the Limo window.

Logic
knew for a fact that over the years Teddy had given Queen a small jewelry store full of fine jewelry, which included at least a dozen or so beautiful diamond rings. He realized she was only wearing it so that she wouldn’t offend him with her latest and greatest token of love. Gently taking her hand and closely examining the ring he immediately understood why she had elected to wear that particular ring. It was a promise ring that he had given her when they started their freshman year at the University of Maryland.

Kissing
her ring he said, “I didn’t realize you still had this. It looks good on your finger. I was just kidding. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. In fact, I'm glad you have it on.”

Queen
simply offered a wry smile to indicate that it was okay.

Look... Queen I need to ask you a big favor.” Logic’s sultry voice suddenly becomes serious.

Sure, anything.”

Logic
reaches in his pocket and pulls out a small ring box. A ring box very similar to the one he presented to her when he proposed to her at his parents’ dinner party.

Will you wear this for me?”

Queen

s head begins to shake, no, as she stared at her original engagement ring with a sea of mixed emotions. “Logic, I can’t do this right now. We need to talk…”
