We were laughing when Alan started imitating the guy, then we all threw our shoes to Ambrose when he started saying the lines of the movie before the actors even started talking. It was funny at the beginning but it got annoying after a few minutes.

“Hey Keller.” Alan sat next to me as the movie ended. The rest of the guys were arguing which movie to watch next. I simply nodded in response.

“So are you single?”

Way to get to the point. “Yeah.” I didn’t really look at him.

“Awesome. Maybe we can you know hang out sometime?”

“Okay.” I kept looking at the guys argue. They will agree it was a cool movie but one wanted to watch it and the others refused. Fascinating.

“Really?!” he said a bit too surprised. What did I say? Oh shit.

“Wait what? Rewind! Repeat the question.”

Alan smirked. “No way out of it baby!”

“No way out of what?” I asked suspiciously.

“We have a date!” Alan said loudly so that the guys could hear. Indeed they did and turned to us shocked. Ambrose had his mouth wide open.

“No we don’t! I don’t remember agreeing to any date!” I got up. Wow why did I have to get distracted in that moment?

“Well I heard you. So I’ll give you a call.” Alan winked and walked over to the shocked guys.

“No way dude! I’m not going out with you. So not interested buddy.”

Alan smirked again and shrugged. “You’ll fall baby. You’ll fall.”

Fall my ass. I crossed my arms and sat down, pissed.

It was around ten when the guys left together with Ambrose. He left saying he would call me and visit me one of this days. I seriously doubt it. Most of the time I’m here, in Mitch’s house, taking care of him. Nonetheless I looked forward to the visit.

“Aren’t you leaving?” Mitch asked a bit annoyed.

I scowled. “Your parents asked me to stay ’til midnight. I’m not leaving until they get here.”

“I can take care of myself, for gods sake! I’m not some little kid.” he shouted.

And that’s the Mitch I know.

It’s exactly 1:15 a.m. and Mitch’s parents aren’t here yet. Time to call dad so he doesn’t worry. I think I called him twice already but I have a feeling he will send Maggie for me if I don’t call again. Slowly I walked to the kitchen and gabbed the phone then dialed my house number. After two rings my dad answers.

“Keller? When are you getting home? Its really late, honey.”

“The Gaynor’s aren’t here yet, dad. I promised to stay with Mitch until they arrived.”

“They said midnight and its way later than that.” dad sounded worried and tired.

“I’ll wait a little bit longer dad. Its my job, I signed a contract. Go to sleep.”

“I don’t-”

“Dad go to bed or I’ll tell Maggie and that’ll be worse.”

“Okay, okay. Kids this days get so bossy.” he sighed. “Be careful, sweetie.”

“Always am.”

“Love you.”

“Love you too dad.”

The line went dead. And I screamed like a crazed chick who is being followed by the chainsaw serial killer with a red scarf. Uh…something like that. Then he yelled which caused me to freak and yell again. “Would you make some damn sound! You scared the be-Jesus out of me Mitch!” I snapped.

Mitch was currently rubbing his ears. “God girl, don’t ever do that again!”

“Don’t do that again? You fucking scared me!”

“You scared me. I was just going to get some water!”

“Next time don’t stand there so freaking still! Gosh I nearly had a heart attack.”

“Next time I will accomplish your death.” Mitch rolled his eyes and walked to the fridge. Then mumbled: “Crazy bitch.”

“I heard that!”

“Like I care.” he left me, jaw hanging open, staring at his back alone in the kitchen. Damn it, I nearly did had a heart attack. How come I didn’t heard him? Jeez! The guy is definitely bipolar. Pissed I walked to the living room and out of the corner of my eye I saw Mitch having trouble getting to the top of the stairs. Why do I have to be so nice? Slowly I walked over to help the boy who managed to burst my happy bubble.

Chapter
10

Mitch wasn’t very happy that I was helping him. When we got to the door of his room he didn’t waste time in slamming the freaking door on my face. Cant he see a shrink? Maybe he has a personality disorder. Then I heard the front door open. Great! Finally I’m going home.

In a rush I walked down the stairs and practically ran out the door. And I forgot my check. Nice. Maybe they’ll let me take it tomorrow.

When I got home Dad was still waiting on the couch awake. Maggie and Chad where there too. “What’s going on? I told you not to wait.”

“I was worried.” Dad said and got up. “Now that I know you’re here I’m going to bed.” and he left.

“We’ll stay here for tonight.” Maggie smiled and left after my dad, leaving me alone with Chad. Awesome.

“Keller wait. I want to talk to you.”

“Well I don’t.” I mumbled and walked up to my room.

“Please.”

“Look Chad I’m tired. Maybe another time.” Just as Mitch, I slammed the door on Chad’s face. didn’t even bother to change I just jumped on the bed and fell asleep instantly.

My phone rang and I nearly threw it to the other side of the room but then I saw it was Emma Gaynor and pressed the call button. “Hello?”

“Oh Keller glad you picked up. We’ll be here in the morning so you can come around two.”

I looked over at my clock and my eyes widened. It’s exactly 10:42. Wow, I overslept. “Okay I’ll be there at two.”

“I’ll leave the check with Mitch. Thanks honey.” she hung up.

“Welcome.” I said to empty space and crawled all the way to the bathroom. Took the longest shower ever taken and put on some underwear. Walked back into my room and opened the closet. Because of the lack of money I couldn’t buy more decent clothes. Everything I had was things that barely went two inches down my butt. I made a face grabbed a pair of those shorts but
used some leggings with it. When I was taking the bright green shirt out of the closet my bedroom door opened.

“Ed wants to know if…” Chad trailed off and I let out a shriek, slipped on my shirt and stormed out of the room bare feet. How dare he enter my room like that?!

“Hey dad, Emma called and I’m supposed to be there at two. So I’m eating breakfast here. “

“Good. Maggie is making Teriyaki.” Dad smiled.

Not that it bothers but Maggie does spends a whole lot time here. Wait. “Where’s Ambrose?”

“He was already asleep when you arrived.” Maggie informed and I stormed upstairs and into one of the rooms. He’s still asleep but that didn’t stop me from jumping on his back.

“Wake up baby!” I yelled.

“Get off Chris.”

Chris?! Whaaaa? Lets play along. “Don’t want to.” I tried my fake male voice.

“I wont let you have your way with me again.” then he turned around and his eyes widened then he blushed.

“Ambrose has a boyfriend!” I got up and ran out of the room. “Ambrose has a boyfriend! And they do a whole lot than kissing!”

Ambrose tackled me at the end of the stairs and pinned my arms behind my back. “Get off my ass Ambrose! You’re heavy!”

“No.”

“Ambrose has a boyfriend!” I chanted.

“Fine but one condition!”

“No way I-”

“Well hello Mrs. Gaynor.” Maggie said out of nowhere. I managed to turn my head to the left and indeed, Emma was standing at the door. Mitch standing next to her, pissed and he looked out of place. What are they doing here? Didn’t she tell me to be at her house at two? Oh god don’t tell me I’m fired.

“Is Keller home?”

“Yeah.” Maggie turned to look at me and Ambrose and blushed deep red. “Ambrose get off Keller!”

“She was making fun of me!” Ambrose fought back and didn’t get up.

“Maggie did you know Ambrose has a boyfriend?” I wiggled my eyebrows and chuckled.

“Chad please remove Ambrose from Keller.” Maggie shook her head and turned to Emma. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright. Can we come in?”

“Of course!”

Ambrose got up and I instantly moved away from Chad. Mitch stood there uncomfortable while Emma sat down and began to talk to Maggie.

“You can seat down, you know?” I told him and Mitch nodded.

“Keller I was hoping you could watch Mitch here. Richard and I are hosting a business deal and Mitch doesn’t like that stuff. And I’m afraid the daughter of the senator is very fond of him, she’ll hunt him down. Mitch is scared out of his mind, I swear the girl stalks him. Sure she‘s pretty but nothing compared to Melissa, darling do you remember your last girlfriend. I seriously thought you would m-” Mitch looked really uncomfortable right now. And for some reason I interrupted Emma.

“You’re babbling Emma.” I chuckled and Mitch hid a smile. Maggie turned to me sharply.

“Its alright Margaret. I hate to babble I look hideous. So what do you say? Can you watch over my Mitch?”

“Of course.”

“Thank you honey. Mitch has your check.”

“Mom! I’m not a little kid. For gods sake I’m older than her!” Mitch whined. He did respect his mother.

“None of that. You need your therapies and I hate to see you alone. I do prefer you around Keller than running away from Ivy.” Emma kissed both his cheeks after Mitch’s protests. I assume Ivy is the stalker. Now I want to meet her. The one thing that makes Mitch run away for his dear life.

“Ma I do have friends you know? If we had servants everything will be better and I can always lock my room.”

“We aren’t discussing this Mitch! Last time she broke it down. I’ll pick him up around nine. Thank you so much Keller!” and she left. The chick broke down the door? Okay I don’t want to meet her anymore.

“Here.” Mitch handed me the check and I gladly put in inside my back pocket. Then he eyed my whole body. “Nice clothes. Better than those pants, girl.” he smirked then his face turned hard when he saw something behind me. I turned around and Chad was also glaring. Uh-oh.

“Don’t say anything. Maggie doesn’t know. Neither does my dad.” I whispered in his ear.

“Why?” he whispered back.

“Don’t want to worry them. Just do it Mitch and I’ll do you one favor.”

“Okay.” he said all to fast. Great.

I turned around and everyone was staring at us. “Dad, Maggie this is Mitch Gaynor.”

“Call me Ed.” Dad came to shake Mitch’s hand, he just nodded.

“Have you eaten?” Maggie asked with a huge smile.

“Ah no I haven’t.”

“Alright come into the kitchen.”

“Yes ma’am.”

I gawked at Mitch and he smirked, winked and followed Maggie. Why is he been so nice?! Now no one is going to believe he’s a devil. Just in case he said something stupid I sat next to Mitch who sat across my dad and Maggie. Chad was across from me and Ambrose was next to Mitch. We began to eat in silence. Then Mitch startled me when he whispered in my ear: “This is good, you should learn how to make it and cook it for me some other time.”

“I know how to make it.” I mumbled a bit angry that he’s been so nice. Damn it! Now my dad is going to like him and when I talk crap he’s going to say its me seen things.

“So Mitch how old are you?” Dad broke the silence.

“Nineteen, sir.” Gaah! Stop being polite!!! I felt like dragging him from his pretty hair all the way upstairs and yell at him.

“What are you studying?”

“I uh…” Mitch cleared his throat. “At the moment I display my paintings in the art gallery my cousin owns.”

He did what?!?!

“That’s nice. I hope I see one of your work soon.” Dad said seriously.

“Of course.”

The bell rung. “I’ll get it.” Maggie got up and came a few seconds later. “Keller this is for you…and Mitch.” she frowned and I opened the white envelope. Ah hell! Why now?

“What is it?” Mitch asked curiously and leaned to see the content of the envelope. Before he could see anything I got on my feet. How did she get so many of them?

“Remember Sam?” I asked him.
