“Your dad is on the window. I think he wants to kill me.” Alan mumbled against my lips.

I chuckled. “Better leave then, he does have a gun on his bedroom…” I trailed of. Alan visibly paled; he pecked my lips and ran to his car, and not a good bye or an ‘I’ll see you soon’ was said.

I’m fully aware that he doesn’t really like me. He might like the physical part of me because, not to be conceited or anything, I do have a nice body. People have mentioned it and I think that appeals to him. I don’t hate him for it because I consider him a friend and I know that when this whole ‘dating’ thing ends everything will fall back into place.

I sighed and walked inside the house. I only hope that one day someone looks past the surface and like me for who I truly am.

“Why did you take so long?” Chad got away from the window; he was standing next to my dad.

“You’re not my dad.” I said and then turned to Ed. “I’m sorry I was talking with Alan.”

Dad nods. “I saw that.” He smiled sadly.

I sighed. “It’s not like before dad. Alan is a friend. Nothing will happen.”

Thank god Maggie interrupted. “You better go to bed. Emma Gaynor called and said to please go to her house at seven.”

I groaned, I have to deal with Mitch that early? “Alright. Good night dad, Maggie.”

“Yeah good night to you too Kells.” Chad said and I swear I could feel his eyes rolling.

I completely ignored his comment and went up the stairs and into my room. Soon I heard the front door close and the engine of a car roar to life. Maggie is going home.

A bit confused about my feelings I began to undress and dress into something more comfortable to sleep in. The ceiling looked so intriguing at the moment that I couldn’t tare my eyes off it. My back against the comfy bed, the right temperature and with the perfect view I soon fell asleep.

*The Next Day*

I woke up at 5:43 to be exact. I took a shower, brushed my teeth. Combed my hair, put on a pair of black jeans and a plain white shirt and I was ready to go.

Well not quite. I cooked something for my dad and then left home, not even bothering to eat anything.

The drive to Mitch’s house was short, or it felt like it. When I arrived and knocked and rang the bell three times a man opened the door. He wasn’t someone I recognized.

“How may I help you?” he asked.

The man didn’t look like a servant material.

“I’m here to see Mitch.” I said it in the same flat tone he used with me. His eye brow rose and he nodded, stepping aside.

I walked to the living room and saw Emma and Richard Gaynor comfortably seating and talking to a woman. When they spotted me Emma grinned and got up. She surprised me by hugging me and kissing my cheek.

“Thank you for coming this early.”

“It’s okay. I’ll go see if he needs anything.”

Emma nodded and sat down again.

Taking my time I walked up stairs, I don’t really feel like fighting with him but it turned into a routine. Something would be wrong if he didn’t have something to fight over.

I have to admit I was surprised to see a blonde chick at his bedroom door. She looked pissed. She hit the door once and then turned to me.

“Do you work here?” she asked.

I shrugged. “Something like that.” She looked like a total bitch. For some reason she reminded me of Ellen.

“Do you have the keys to his room?”

“Why would I?” I asked confused. I really doubt he’ll ever give me keys to his room.

She groaned and continued banging the door. “Mitchell open the door, please.” She practically begged.

“Fuck off Melissa!” he yelled from the other side.

Her eyes widened. “He’s acting like a jerk.”

“Nothing new.” I mumbled.

“What do you mean?” she turned to me confused.

“Where have you been the past weeks? This guy is a freaking douche.” I chuckled.

“You can get fired for bad mouthing your boss!” her eyes widened again. Alright maybe she isn’t that much of a b*tch.

I shrugged again and walked to the door, then knocked once, twice.

“What part of ‘Go away’ don’t you get?” Mitch snapped.

“The ‘Go’ part.” I said. I heard him curse. The guy hates me. “Open up Mitch.”

“Why are you here so early?” he groaned.

“Blame your mom. Now open up. I’m not bringing your break feast here.”

The girl gasped. “He cant go down the stairs! Don’t you know?”

“Know what?”

“He’s in a wheel chair.”

“No he’s not.”

“Yeah he is.” She argued.

“He has crutches. Seriously where have you been girl?” then I turned to the still closed door. “Mitch open the freaking door!”

“Don’t wanna!”

“I swear that if you don’t open it right now I’ll go for the keys and drag you downstairs by your ear.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“Did I asked if you were? No I didn’t. Get your ass off that stool and open the door.”

“How do you know I’m on the stool? Are you stalking me or something? X-ray vision? I knew something was wrong when I met you.”

“Stop being a baby and open up.”

“No.”

“Fine, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Then I turned to this Melissa girl, her name sounded familiar but I shrugged it off. “Do you happen to have a pin with you?”

“Yeah.” She handed me the one that was holding her bangs out from her forehead. “What are you going to do?”

“You ask to many questions.” I said and began to pick the lock. Soon I heard the click and I opened the door triumphantly.

Mitch sat there shocked. Then he got an angry glint. “Who do you think you are?”

“Oh please just-”

“Get out of my house!”

“I-”

That’s when I noticed he wasn’t talking to me, he was talking to Melissa.

“Mitchell I’m sorry I-”

He laughed humorlessly. “Get the hell out of my house.” When she didn’t move he tried to get up really fast and forgot to grab the crutches, he was falling and the chick didn’t make an attempt to help him so I threw my body under his. Making sure he didn’t got hurt was one of the points in the contract.

We both ended on our knees, mine hurt, he leaned most of his weight on me. Then he whispered:

“Help me up.”

“Alright, slowly. Are you hurt?” I whispered back as we slowly got up.

“I’m fine.”

Once we were both standing on our feet he leaned on me and we walked over to the stool where his crutches were resting at.

I heard a sob and it turns out the girl is crying. I chuckled. Mitch gave me a confused stare but I ignored him. Once I was sure he was well set on those crutches and pulled his ear.

“OW!”

“Now we are getting break fast.” I said and pulled him out the bedroom.

“Let me go girl.” He snapped at the start of the stairs, I obeyed him because I didn’t want to get fired if Emma saw me pulling his ear. The money was doing us, my dad and I, very good.

Once we reached the bottom I heard foot steps behind us. So the chick decided to tag along?

We entered the kitchen and Mitch sat while I opened the fridge. When I turned to him he was rubbing his ear.

“What do you want to eat?”

He glared at me and then went thoughtful. “That thing-”

“I’m really sorry.” Melissa interrupted him. She wasn’t crying anymore but she was annoying me.

Mitch completely ignored her and she pouted, he didn’t even glance at her again so she sat down across from him.

“Like I was saying, I want that thing that what’s the woman’s name? Your ex’s mom…” he trailed off.

“Maggie?”

“Yeah her! She made that delicious thing when I went to your house, what’s it called?”

“Teriyaki.”

“I want that.” I nodded eagerly.

I chuckled. “Okay.”

He sat there not saying a word and waited patiently while I cooked. Minutes later he was devouring the food. “Can you give me a coke from the fridge?”

Before I could get it Melissa handed him one. He glared at her but took it anyways.

“So what’s your name?” she asked me.

Oh-kay. “Keller.”

Melissa nodded. “And what is she to you Mitchell.”

Why does she keep calling him by his full name?

“That’s none of your business Melissa.”

Curious I asked: “Who is she?” knowing that I’ll probably get the same answer.

Boy was I wrong?

“Melissa.”

“No shit Sherlock?”

“Ex-girlfriend.”

“Oh
that
Melissa.”

“Yup.” He popped the ‘p’.

“Don’t talk about me as if I’m not here.” She pouted. Melissa is trying so hard to get his attention that she looked desperate.

“Oh hey, I didn’t know you where there.” He said and when I looked in his eyes I saw anger and resentment. What had she done to him?

“What is she to you Mitchell?” she asked again.

Mitch smirked. Oh crap this isn’t good. “Mitch.” I said in a warning voice which only cause his smirk to grow.

“She’s my girlfriend.” And then he touched his lips against mine and made a ‘mwah’ sound so loud I wonder if Emma heard.

Melissa’s eyes widened and then she nodded. Wow she’s hurt.

I leaned towards Mitch and whispered: “I’ll like to remind you that I’m sorta, maybe, dating Alan. Your FRIEND.”

Mitch turned to me and his eyes widened. Surprise and then something else flashed in his eyes, I couldn’t place what it was but it was gone as soon as it came.

And that simple sentence got Mitch Gaynor in a bad mood.

What a surprise.

Chapter 1
5

Mitch was now in his room and I’m seating in the living room alone. Emma and Richard left to have lunch with Melissa’s parents. They asked me to stay and watch over Mitch until they get back. This is one of the easiest job I’ve ever had.

“Girl!” I heard Mitch yell.

Then I see Melissa running up the stairs with a big smile on her face. What’s up with her?

Slowly I went up the stairs and walked into Mitch’s bedroom.

There he was seating on the floor with a small smile on his face when he saw me. I heard sobbing and I turned to Melissa, she was crying. I frowned and looked down at Mitch again.

“Where are your crutches?”

“In the bathroom.”

I shake my head. “Mitch what did I told you about walking on your own?”

He just rolled his eyes.

So I went to get them and then helped him get up.

“Next time don’t just cry, help him up.” I told Melissa as I helped Mitch to seat on the stool he loved so much.

He never said thank you but I guess that’s him been the usual jerk.

The bell rung.

“May be the guys.” Mitch shrugged and before I could leave the room…

“I’ll open up.” Melissa stormed out of the room.
“What’s up with her?”

“She’s trying to prove herself.”

“To who?” I frowned.

“Me. She’s competing with you. Trying to make me see she’s better than you.” Mitch watched me intently.

I scowled. “I’m not competing with anyone. She’s weird.”

Mitch smirked. “Let’s go downstairs. I don’t like people in my room.”

I helped him down the stairs. And as soon as I was away from Mitch I was attacked with a hug.

“Ambrose, can’t breathe. Severe lack of oxygen. Help!” I gasped and he let me go not before rolling his eyes. He kissed my cheek.

Mitch said Ambrose was welcomed to his home, Chad was banned from it.

“Baby!” Alan pushed Ambrose playfully away from me and then kissed me right on the lips in front of everyone. I felt stares, one more heavier than the others and I pushed Alan away a little and kissed his cheek.

“I’m hungry.” Mitch said and Nathan agreed.

I scowled again. “You expect me to make food for all of you?”

“Yeah.” they all said in unison except, of course, Melissa.

“Fine, what about we order a pizza?” Mitch suggested.

“Why don’t we go to the arcades? There’s plenty of pizza there plus we can play.” Nathan suggested.

Mitch frowned a little. “Alright.”

“We all brought our cars.” Alan mumbled.

“We can go in two cars.” Nathan said raising an eyebrow.
