“No, love.
You are more powerful.”

~~~
Cade grinned at him.
She did feel different.
And her head was buzzing with information.
Her body felt heavier, stronger, and more agile.
She felt as if she could fly.
And shifting through the information in her head she realized that she could.
There was so much, everything her mother had ever been, everything she’d ever done, and everything she’d ever felt was there for her to touch and to remember.
And not just her and her mother, but generations of her family.
Their knowledge and understanding of what they were, and what they could do.
“I see you found your heritage.
You are a full Lesser Faerie, Cade, and a vampire.
Both your parents have given you all that they are and you will pass it on to your daughter as well.”
Mel stood and embraced Cade.
“Welcome to my kingdom.
I expect great things from you from now on.”
“My daughter.
You look so much like your mother right now.
I can’t believe how much.
I’m very proud of you, my girl.
If you have any questions please feel free to voice them.
I plan to spend every waking moment getting to know you.”
Cade laughed when Shawn growled.
She reached out and ran her hand along his shoulders.
She could feel his strength and his love.
Moving in closer, not able to help herself, she burrowed her face in his neck. Another growl, this one definitely more intimate, sent shivers down her spine and she moved back before she embarrassed them both.
“There are things you need to know about tonight.
Rules of engagement. Aaron is coming and he will help explain what will happen.
You must do this, Cade.”
Aaron walked in the room and kissed Cade on the cheek and laughed at Shawn.
He really wasn’t happy about people, men especially, touching her.
She wondered what it was and made a mental note to ask Sara about it.
“There are different levels of what will happen.
The first is that you meet in a neutral place.
Bradley has offered his land for that use.
You will each have a second and that person alone will be on the field with you.
This person will offer you nothing more than support. No blood can be exchanged and no magic on the second’s part.
In the case of you two, as a mated pair, Shawn’s help will come to you naturally.
The second is the drawing of first blood.”
Aaron bared his forearm for her.
There was a long scar there.
“When I fought Carl for this realm, he drew blood and that scar will never leave me.
The same will happen to you and Ferris.
It’s a mark of honor.
If I wasn’t able to show you this, I’d be the one who lost.”
“If he drew first blood then why are you here?
I’m sorry, that sounded crass.
I mean if he drew your blood, why did you win?”
“No problem.
I didn’t say he drew first blood, I said he drew blood.
You are the one challenged so you will go first.
If you draw blood with your first strike then you will get to try and draw it again.
This is how it works, you will keep getting to draw his blood until you don’t.
Once you fail that he gets his turn until he doesn’t.
If neither of you manage to draw blood then it becomes a free for all and the rules of engagement are no longer used.
It’s a fight to the death.”
“What happens if he doesn’t play by the rules?
I mean, he isn’t exactly a nice guy.
I want to know if something happens to keep him from killing me.” Cade held onto Shawn’s hand.
She wasn’t going to leave him, not now.
“You quit the field.
If at any time he moves out of turn or he cheats—which he will undoubtedly do, then you simply say that you will ‘quit the field.’ It’s important that you word it that way.
If you simply leave or say ‘fuck you,’ as you are prone to do, then he will win.”
“And he wins.”
Cade didn’t have to ask what his winning would be.
He would destroy not only her, but Shawn and anyone else he might feel who had been a part of his downfall, including Aaron.
They talked for another hour and when the sun was at its peak, Shawn took Cade to his lair.
She needed him in the worst way.
And he seemed to know that.
As soon as they entered the room and he locked the door she started to back toward the bed.
“I want to feel you inside of me. Deep, hard, and fast.
Do you think you can help me with that?”
Cade began unbuttoning her shirt as she went.
“Yes.
Cade, you’d better hurry faster than that or those clothes aren’t going to make it.
If I have to I’m going to rip them from you, and I won’t be gentle about it.”
Cade felt her body respond to his words.
Her pussy gushed with cream and her nipples hardened under the shirt.
Shawn’s eyes had turned a deep red and she could just make out the tips of his fangs at his lips.
Taking both sides of the shirt she ripped it from her body.
His growl made her start to pant.
“Strip off the rest. Now.
I want to see you, all of you.”
Shawn’s voice was deep, almost dark with need.
It made her want to please him.
Stripping down to her panties she watched as he came toward her.
“You have made me hurt with need today.
You should be spanked.
But I know that if I touch you right now I may enter you and come at the same time.”
Cade’s body tightened.
“Okay” was all she could say.
As soon as he touched her she knew that she wouldn’t last either.
And when he dropped down in front of her and ripped her panties from her she felt her knees wobble.
Shawn’s mouth was hot, not just hot but white hot, as he licked her clitoris.
Cade grabbed a handful of his hair and held onto him tight.
When she felt his hand move to between her thighs she opened her stance for him and growled when he inserted his fingers deep into her.
Over and over he fucked her this way and every
time she got close to releasing the pent-up need he would mov
e
back and kiss her thigh.
“Please, Shawn. I need you inside of me. Right now.”
Her body ached and she nearly screamed when he nipped at her clit.
Looking down at him she nodded to him, need a living, breathing thing in them both.
When Shawn sank his fangs into her thigh she came apart over him.
Her climax was all-consuming and earth-moving.
And as her body was still tumbling down he sealed the tiny wounds and stood.
At some point he had unleashed his cock and it was straining toward her.
With a quick turn and a shove Cade found herself lying on her stomach and Shawn behind her.
Grabbing her hips and pulling her back, he entered her hard.
Her body needing him clutched tightly around him and she could feel his breath on her shoulder.
His teeth scraping along her shoulder and neck had her growling back at him.
He leaned down and whispered in her ear. “My little fighter, I’m not going to last.
I’m going to bite you and when you come I want you to give me your throat.
I want to taste your hot blood while you come.”
As soon as his words left his mouth he sat up, pulled his cock out of her to his tip, and then slammed back into her.
If he continued like this she wasn’t going to last either.
And she didn’t.
When he thrust into her the third time she screamed out his name
,
and when he leaned down and bit her shoulder she came again, sobbing his name until she was hoarse from it.
Lifting her up so that she sat on his lap he tilted her head back and licked the pounding pulse.
His fangs sinking deep into her had her come again.
Stars burst behind her eyelids and the room became a brilliant light just before she fell into sated darkness.
~CHAPTER 21~
At sunset that evening Cade and Ferris met in the open field of the pack grounds.
Bradley offered the area because it was secluded and it was open enough so that the combatants would have room to fight.
No one was sure what was going to happen, but neither Cade nor Shawn seemed upset about it.
Both had taken on a very calm and surreal approach to what was coming.
Cade approached the field to the north and Ferris to the south.
Mel had assured everyone that she would make sure that Ferris was alone.
She told them that he was bragging how he was getting a two-for-one deal in that he’d get Cade and Shawn when Cade lost.
Pete had shown up about mid-day.
She had tracked down where the money had gone.
“Ferris is the last man. The other three accounts were one to each man, Gabriel and Garrett and now this man.
It seems that Ferris is buying up property all over the world and accumulated a mass fortune.
The money moves in and out quickly so there isn’t much of a paper trail, but there is another account, one that Cade set up and used that belongs to Ferris.
He keeps his realm monies in it.”
“So he did take the money.
Lying bastard.
So we can call this off.
Everybody can go home happy and Cade doesn’t have to fight him.”
Aaron looked so hopeful that Cade hated to burst his bubble.
“Yes, I do.
According to Mel if I don’t fight him he wins.
He will own Shawn and me until either he dies or we do.
And I’m ready.
I want this over with.”
Neither Cade nor Shawn had told anyone about the magic. They had decided that the less people who knew, the safer everyone would be.
That was why she was standing in an open field waiting for the signal to begin.
Cade had first shot, so to speak. Cade hoped that he wouldn’t get his chance.
So long as she continued to draw blood she could keep hurting him.
If neither of them were able to draw blood then all bets were off and they went after each other in a mortal showdown. Cade wasn’t sure she could beat him that way so she and Shawn would keep him bleeding.
“Well, girly, are you ready to die?
I certainly hope you’ve made your funeral arrangements and notified your next of kin.
I’m going to enjoy killing you.”
Cade kicked off her shoes and dug her feet into the cold ground.
She could feel it begin to warm beneath her.
As soon as Mel said “time” Cade reached into the soil and asked for its help.
The ground began to tremble and shake.
Not much at first, but enough to make Ferris look around. When the ground heaved him over onto his back he jumped up with a small cut in his hand.
It was first blood.
