“Oh god,” she quietly panted.

Without hurry, he worked his way down the side of her neck, alternately lapping his tongue over her smooth skin and nibbling. He moved lower, satiating himself with her, bit by bit. Although his arousal ached beneath him, he slid down her, as her back arched with the removal of his full weight. He felt her diaphragm flexing under his chest and her gasps came faster.

“I’ve waited so long,” he murmured between her breasts. “Months, Lou, a
lifetime
.”

Propped up on both elbows, he covered her breasts with each hand. The already engorged nipples pressed into his palms and he squeezed. Her flesh was lush, mounding between his fingers, softer than seemed possible. Below his abs, he felt her mound pulse up into him and his arousal throbbed in response.

“Quinn,” she rasped. “Please, I–”

He took each nipple between his fingers and lightly pinched. She cried out and her pelvis bucked under him. Suddenly, he couldn’t wait any longer. He would have explored every inch of her, eaten and tasted his fill, but her response had been too much. She wanted him as much as he needed her–and he needed her
now
.

As he rose up on hands and knees, she threw her legs apart and the heady smell of her sex put every sense on alert. The tip of his arousal immediately found her and, without a moment of hesitation, he plunged in.

She cried out even as a deep groan was torn from his throat and he squeezed his eyes shut.

Lou convulsed as though electricity ran through her body. Quinn had taken her to the brink of sanity as he’d set one part of her body on fire after another but at long last, he was inside her. As he pulled slowly back and thrust again, her fingers dug into his back. She looked down at his rigid torso, the strained muscles of his chest and neck. He pulled back, hesitated, and her mound automatically rose to enclose him when he plunged completely into her, coming down with all his weight.

Her torso jack-knifed upward and he quickly circled his arm under her. His hips were like a piston, driving into her, faster now, and harder. He kept his arm behind her, suspending her above the ground and each thrust rocked and reverberated up her body. She circled her legs over the top of his butt just as he entered her again. As though she were a pendulum, his arm swung her down to his groin and his hips met her with a thud. Each impact forced a grunt from her, each thrust crushed her sweet spot, each penetration was deeper than the last and yet he didn’t stop.

A tightening began in her abdomen but she could no longer hold her head up. It lolled backward and swayed with each new thrust. She clung to him as best she could but his movements were starting to lose their rhythm even as his penetrations began to last longer. Her sweet spot suddenly flared and she heard a low rumble in his chest. But when she clenched, everything faded into the background. As though she were clamping on steel, she felt herself tighten around him.

A hoarse cry came from her parted lips as he thickened deep inside her. As both his arms went around her, her head finally settled to the ground, as did her shoulders and hips. His chest came down within an inch of her face and then she heard the most impossible sound. As his arousal pulsed, wave after wave spreading inside her, his low rumbling groan built into a roar. Her repeated clenches milked him as his hips began to pump again, the sound of his voice filling the air. Finally, he took in a great shuddering breath and shakily let it go as he quickly thrust several more times and she clenched one last time. As though their bodies had finally relinquished control, Quinn’s head sank next to hers and she let her arms rest on his lower back.

Finally, they were both still.

The only sound was that of heavy breathing and it was several long moments before Lou opened her eyes. Quinn smoothed hair away from her face as he rose on one elbow. Still inside her, he caressed the side of her face. His fingers traced the outlines of her parted lips and he looked down between them, along the entire length of her body. Then he looked into her eyes as his breathing came under control.

“I love you, Lou,” he said lowly. “I’ve waited my entire life for a woman like you.”

“I hope so, Quinn,” she whispered with a little smile. “Because I
know
I love you.”

Chapter 10

Lou became aware of a muted clicking sound. She opened her eyes to the dim light of the tent and they immediately landed on Quinn. He was already dressed, sitting cross-legged on his sleeping bag and looked over at her.

“Good morning,” he said, smiling.

“It is,” she said, as she reached out to him and rested her hand on his knee.

He put down whatever had been in his lap and held out his water bottle to her. She was still very thirsty and sat up, not bothering to hold her sleeping bag up in front of her.

“I’d have made tea,” he said, looking at her. He paused, watching her drink. “But…”

She let a little trickle of water wash over her lips as she drank. It slipped down her throat and then between her breasts. When she’d finished drinking, she looked at him with a little smile.

He looked into her eyes.

“You did that on purpose,” he said, his smile mirroring her own.

“And if I did?” she said, setting the bottle down.

His intense stare told her everything she needed to know.

“You were saying about the tea?” she whispered.

He blinked.

“I would have made tea but I couldn’t risk the smell,” he said, grinning.

She frowned a little. Mint tea hardly smelled like anything. It’s not like they were tracking anymore. That opportunity had–

“Wait,” she said. “Are you saying…”

He lifted the GPS unit.

“They’re still here,” he said.

“You’re kidding,” she said, excited.

“I got your backpack this morning and it was the last thing I was expecting to see but there were fresh tracks.”

“My backpack?” she said. She glanced down, as she actually saw her sleeping bag for the first time. “Oh my god,” she whispered. “How long have you been up?”

“A while,” he said. “You needed to rest.”

“What time is it?” she said, looking up at the tent. The shadows of the palm trees stood out in stark contrast to the light grey fabric. The fronds of the trees weren’t visible though. “Late morning!” She must have slept for more than twelve hours.

“Good,” Quinn said. “You’re getting better at that. It’s nearly eleven.”

“Eleven?” she said. The coolness of the shade and nearby water had left the temperature low enough to keep sleeping.

“I’ve plotted the tracks,” he said, handing her the GPS unit.

“You what?” she said, taking it from him. She looked at the small x’s scattered over the underlying terrain map. “I didn’t think you knew how to use these.”

“I know how,” he said. “I just prefer the tried and true method.” She looked up at him to see him tapping his temple. “I just thought this might be useful for you.”

Of course it was useful for her. It was the kind of documentation that would lead to a good recording of the sighting.

“And did you…”

“No,” he said quickly. “I wanted us to be together.”

A crazy grin began to spread across his face.

“But I’m pretty sure I know where we’ll find them. Best guess: they know we’re here but couldn’t relocate the den. I suspect there are pups and they’re too small to be moved.”

“Well what are we waiting for?” she said, looking around for her clothes.

His face clouded a little.

“The packs are outside,” he said, moving toward the entrance. “You’ll need to wear different clothes.”

“What?” she said. “Why? They must be dry by now.”

He didn’t turn back to her.

“Because the smell of
him
was still on them. I bagged them. It’ll take more than just water to get them clean.”

Then he was gone.

Lou had dressed quickly and they’d set out right away. Without the heavy packs, it felt like a stroll. She carried the camera, ready to snap something quickly. Quinn still carried the GPS.

“The tracks circle the oasis, in a spiral pattern,” he whispered. “They were there last night for their evening drink.”

“At the
oasis
?” she whispered. “Where we were?”

He nodded and put a finger to his lips.

The landscape had turned to a low and sandy scrubland. Sparse, small bushes dotted the terrain and even an occasional tree. He hunkered down low behind one. She knelt in the sand next to him.

“We’re looking for a sandy mound,” he whispered. “Ideally, it’ll be in the shade of one of these trees or even a large bush.” He pointed at a few in the distance. “The best situation for the Painted Hunting Dog is an abandoned termite mound that some aardvark has already rooted through. That’s where they’ll have the pups.”

She nodded. “We’ll have to keep to this side,” she whispered. “Downwind.”

He smiled at her.

“Exactly,” he said.

Suddenly, his eyes shifted left and he froze except for the flaring of his nostrils.

“I smell him,” he muttered, barely audible. “Half-toe.”

He brought up the binoculars that had been slung over his shoulder and scanned the horizon.

She brought up the camera and did the same with the telephoto lens. As she spun it into focus, she could clearly see the bushes and trees. Quinn was leaning close.

“There’s a low mound,” he whispered in her ear and pointed toward the farthest tree. “That looks likely.”

She followed his aim and then looked through the camera again. It didn’t look like much of anything, especially at this distance.

“Can we get closer?” she asked, still looking.

“No,” he said. “He’s either leaving or coming back from a hunt. He could already have circled behind us and caught our scent on the return.” He paused and lowered the binoculars. “No, we’re going to have to wait here but he’s close.”

Suddenly, Lou caught movement in the lens. She quickly shifted it and focused.

“Oh my god,” she whispered.

Without a word, Quinn looked through the binoculars.

“Half-toe,” he breathed.

Lou quickly depressed the shutter and snapped off several shots.

“That’s it,” she said excitedly.

“He’s staring at us,” Quinn said.

“What?”

Lou concentrated on what she was seeing. Even zoomed in all the way, the animal was still a small figure.

“He knows we’re here,” Quinn said. Then he was quiet for a few moments. “I don’t believe it,” he whispered.

“What?” Lou asked. She peered through the lens. “He’s just standing there.”

She felt Quinn nudge her and realized he was handing her the binoculars. In exchange, she handed him the camera.

As she focused the binoculars, the Hunting Dog sprang into view, easily three times the size she’d seen through the lens and, behind him…

“Oh my god,” Lou said, echoing Quinn. “Two pups.”

She heard Quinn snapping photos.

Then, Half-toe turned from them and took one of the pups by the scruff of the neck and down into the den. His mate suddenly appeared and took the second pup.

“That’s it,” said Quinn. “We won’t see them again.”

She looked at him, breathing hard, her heart racing.

“Not today?” she asked.

“Probably not ever,” he replied. “They’ll move the pups tomorrow. They know we’re here. Unless we don’t move from this spot for the next twenty-four hours, we’ll likely never see them again.”

Even so, it’d been the moment they’d been working for–and she was elated.

“Quinn,” she said, putting a hand on his arm. “You must be so excited. Two months of tracking and it’s all paid off.”

He chuckled a little, not exactly the response she’d been expecting.

“It’s paid off,” he said, lowering the camera and looking at her. “But it had nothing to do with the dog.” He stared into her eyes and frowned a little. “It was always you. You don’t know that?”

“Me?” she said.

“It was
four
months in the field, not two, and it was you that I was hunting. I knew that if I could find the Hunting Dog, you’d come back.”

“But…but,” she stammered.

“All I ever wanted was you,” he said.

Her eyes stared hard into his, trying to understand what he was saying. All these months? It had been about her?

“But you could have just asked me to stay,” she said.

“What?” he said, shocked.

“That’s all you had to do,” she said, shaking her head. “I waited for you to say something. I would
never
have left. I–”

Suddenly, he kissed her. Not the crushing kiss that she’d come to expect–something different. He took his time, moved more slowly, and it gave her a chance to respond. It was as though her reaction surprised him. The urgency of her lips matched his and her tongue danced between his parted lips. She explored him, savoring the soft feel of his mouth, and suddenly she wished they were back at the tent.

He must have thought the same thing as his lips separated from hers. He put his forehead to hers and she felt his moist breath on her mouth.

“You’re mine, Lou,” he growled. “
All mine.

“I always have been,” she whispered. “Completely.”

MOUNTAIN WILDS

An Erotic Expedition Novella

PART 1

By Hazel Hunter

Chapter 1

“Here we go,” Dr. Julie Moore whispered to the mom.

Her little girl was already wailing. With a light touch, Jules swabbed the deltoid muscle with an alcohol wipe, stretched the skin taut, inserted the tip, injected the vaccine, and was done in less than five seconds. Not that it mattered to the toddler, who was clinging to her mom’s neck for dear life.

“I know, sweetie,” Jules said, real empathy in her voice. Keeping pressure on the site of the injection, she set the needle down, gave the area another wipe, and deftly applied the Hello Kitty bandaid. “All done,” she announced quietly.

Mom patted the little girl’s back as the wailing continued and Jules gave them both a sympathetic smile. It always hurt the moms more than the kids. After hearing all the other toddlers cry while waiting in the clinic’s little lobby, Jules wouldn’t blame the moms for crying too.
