This is not the time to fuck with me Kyle You know damned well why I’m here.”

I have a pretty good idea,” I said.

My indifference only incensed him more, but I refused to let him get to me. I knew the risk that I was taking when I went against his wishes and asked Camille to marry me. My father doesn’t like being ignored, and he doesn’t take being disrespected lightly.

“You’ve given me no choice. Effective immediately I’m removing you as CEO of the company. I can’t believe that I trusted you to do the right thing.”

I did do the right thing. I love her and so I asked her to marry me. There is nothing else to say.”

Do you understand what this means?”

Yes I understand what this means,” I replied.

I was telling the truth when I told him that I knew what it meant. I hadn’t talked about the consequences of what we’d done yet because I knew that she would feel guilty. That’s part of the reason why I knew that she couldn’t come back to work for me. I wouldn’t have a place for her to return to.

“You’re such a fool,” he sighed.

I’m not a fool. I’m doing what feels right and at the end of the day this will make me a lot happier. Love means more to me than that business.”

So you’re willing to give up the family’s legacy for her?”

I’m not giving up anything, you’re taking it away. That’s a decision that you’re making, but I’m not going to try to change your mind.”

What has that girl done to you?” He laughed harshly.

She’s not a girl, she’s a grown woman. At this point I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”

Are you fucking kidding me?”

No, I’m completely serious. Don’t come back until you can respect me and my future wife. This is our home, and I won’t have it.”

I watched his jaw tighten, and I stood taller so that he wouldn’t get any ideas. I was no longer  interested in hearing what he had to say. Our conversation had come to a close. He got the idea and turned on his heels and walked out without another word. I gave a sigh of relief as I watched him leave my penthouse. We both needed some space and hopefully in time he would cool down but if he didn’t, I was okay with that too. I was over allowing him to run my life.

After he left, I went to my closet and got dressed. I had quite a few things that I needed to get done before Camille returned from her outing. It also gave me time to think about what I wanted to say to her when I saw her again. The wheels in my head were already turning. Money was never going to be an issue for me in my life, but I was accustomed to working. It was time for me to think of a game plan.

That afternoon Camille returned, and she looked like she was in much better spirits. It was great to see a genuine smile on her face again. I wanted to keep my news a secret for a little while longer, but it was time to put the cards on the table.

“How was your trip?” I asked.

It was great, I hung out with Sandy and it was just what I needed,” she smiled.

I’m a little jealous that I wasn’t able to put a real smile on your face. What does she have that I don’t?” I said playfully.

I just needed some girl time,” she said as she playfully hit my shoulder.

I need some girl time to,” I said as I brushed my cock against her plump ass and wrapped her in my arms. I rested my head on her shoulder as we swayed contently from side to side.

You’ve had plenty of girl time,” she giggled as she pressed against me.

I don’t think I can ever get too much when it comes to you.”

The feeling is mutual,” she sighed.

I’m sorry, and I don’t want to put a damper on things but I need to talk to you about something.”

Uh oh,” she said as she tried to pull free of my embrace.

I tightened my grip on her so that she couldn’t move, “No I want to tell you just like this. That way you can’t run away and we can actively talk about it.”

“I don’t know if I can handle any bad news,” she said.

It’s not bad news; it’s just a major change.”

Okay, so what is it?”

Well,” I started, “My father stopped by today and he fired me.”

I felt her entire body go rigid, and I held her tighter.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry to hear that. This is all because of me isn’t it? What are you going to do?” She asked quickly.

I chuckled, “Calm down, it’s not the end of the world. A huge part of me knew that this was going to happen, and so it’s no surprise. I now have the chance to build my own company and to do it the way that I want. I want you to be a part of it, and so I see this as more of an opportunity than a crisis.”

She turned in my arms so that she was facing me, “Are you serious? I would love to be a part of whatever you have going on. I’m honored that you would even consider me for something like that.”

You’re my partner in crime and I trust you. I know that you’ll learn the ropes and help me get things off of the ground. I’ve already been in contact with a few people and I have some meetings set up for next week. This is something I actually always wanted to do.”

She gave me a full kiss on the lips, “I’m excited, and I can’t wait to hear about this new business.”

“We will talk about it later because right now we have more pressing matters to discuss.”

More wonderful news?” She asked sarcastically.

Yes actually. You and I are going to LA tomorrow. It will be good to get away while the dust settles. Besides, it’s not as if I have to go to work tomorrow.”

Are you freaking kidding me?”

You don’t want to go? I can always give our trip away—“

Don’t you dare! I can use some California sun right about now.”

Then it’s settled. In the morning we’re Cali bound. Now go get dressed I have plans for us.”

I have to change?” She asked?

Well unless you want to go rock-climbing in those 5 inch stiletto boots then yes.”

Say no more, I’m going to put on something a lot more comfortable.”

I slapped her on the ass as she made her way back to the room, and I admired the view. Camille wasn’t what you would consider to be a big girl, but she was larger than what was considered standard beauty. You wouldn’t find her body type in Vogue, but she was so much sexier. I loved her ample curves and the feeling of her plump flesh beneath my hands. My cock hardened as I thought about it, but I ignored it because we would never get out of the door if we went down that road.

#Chapter3

I can’t believe that we just did this.”

Camille

I had a sense of deja
vu as I sat next to Kyle on the plane. It seemed like not too long before we were returning from Paris, and he dropped the bomb on me about Charlotte. I smiled to myself because I had no clue that my life was going to change so drastically. He and I were worlds away from that place, and I was the future Mrs. Kane.

Now that I felt more at ease I was able to speak to Kyle about how I felt regarding all of the things that I’ve seen. I casually brought up the news and asked him if he’d seen any of it. He quickly admitted that he had.

Well what do you think?” I asked.

I think that they’re lonely assholes that don’t have anything else to do with their time,” he said plainly.

Really? It’s that simple for you?”

Yes, it really is that simple for me.”

I wish that I was so easy going about all of this. All of that stuff really got to me, and I haven’t known how to deal with it.”

He grabbed my hand and looked into my eyes, “Listen to me. You are the only thing that matters to me. Please stop worrying about what everyone else thinks of us because it’s none of their business anyway. The life that we’ll have together has nothing to do with them, and none of it affects how I feel about you. I love you, and we’re in this together, right?” He asked.

A huge grin spread across my face, “Right, we’re in this together.”

Good because I’ll be heartbroken if you leave me hanging,” he said.

I won’t do that. I believe everything that you said, and I’ll do my best not to let it get to me.”

To help you with that, I’ll be taking your phone for the remainder of the trip,” he said.

You can’t be serious,” I said in disbelief.

I’m very serious. I don’t need anything to ruin our trip, and you seem to have an odd compulsion to check everything online. Don’t worry; we’ll get an amazing camera when we arrive so you can still take photos.”

I opened my mouth to protest, but then I closed it quickly. He had a very valid point because I probably would have spent most of our trip obsessing over the things that people were saying about me. I wanted to have a great trip and the only way that I was going to do that was if I handed my phone over to Kyle. I reached beneath the seat in front of me, grabbed my phone out of my purse, and handed it over.

“I expected a lot more fight from you,” he laughed, “You surprise me more and more each day.”

See, I’m learning,” I laughed.

I felt free the moment I handed my phone to him. I knew that it was the right thing to do as soon as he tucked it away in his pocket. We would return to Chicago soon enough, and we could deal with the crap when we returned. For now, we were just an engaged couple that was going to party in LA. I still had no clue as to where we were staying. He had the wonderful habit of surprising me, and I trusted his taste so I wasn’t worried.

Kyle’s taste proved to be impeccable once again. We arrived at the Chateau Marmont, and my breath was taken away. It was located in an enclave that hovered above Sunset Strip. I’d admittedly never heard of it before, but I doubt if most people in my circles had. It was the kind of place that you only knew of if you could afford, at least that’s how it seemed to me.

This hotel is modeled after a castle from the French countryside,” Kyle explained, “You’ll notice the Gothic and bohemian influence. This is one of the best hotels here and so I knew that you would love it. Maybe we’ll see a celebrity or two,” he winked.

I honestly don’t care if we see any celebrities,” I laughed, “I already feel like one. You’re spoiling me rotten.”

That just means that I’m doing my job. I want to give you everything you want and more.”

You’ve already done that,” I said as my heart swelled inside of my chest.

It was moments like these where I had to make an attempt to shake my feelings of inadequacy. I had an overwhelming feeling of unworthiness. I appreciated everything that he was doing, but I hated feeling as if I didn’t belong with him. He’d given me so much, and it seemed as if I had nothing to truly offer him in return. Kyle was so far out of my league, and I wondered what he truly saw in me.

“What’s the look for?” He said warily, “Give it to me straight, I want to know what’s on your mind.”

I laughed, “How do you do that?”

“Sometimes you’re very easy to read. It’s clear that something is bothering you and I want to know what it is.”

I toyed around with brushing over the subject, but I knew that if he and I were going to make it then I needed to be honest.

“I just feel like I don’t deserve you,” I admitted.

His eyes softened as he looked at me.

“Please take our bags inside, and we’ll check in shortly,” he said dismissively to the bellhop.

Without a word the bellhop did as he was asked. I felt a little twinge of guilt because I didn’t like it when people spoke to people in customer service that way. I also knew that Kyle was going to give him an amazing tip. He wasn’t rude, just standoffish and he was probably used to it anyway. I made a mental note to talk to Kyle about that kind of behavior later.

Kyle laughed, “And that is why I love you so much.”

What do you mean?” I asked in confusion.

You want to tear me a new one for talking to him that way don’t you?”

I wrinkled my nose, “You think that you know me so well.”

“That doesn’t make it any less true. Do you know how many women wouldn’t have had a problem with the way that I spoke to him?”
