“I don’t like the way Brittany made me feel. When she explained how you controlled everything. I know now that she was making up being with you but she did get some of the facts right like the controlling everything part. You have decided where I live, you bought me clothes so you decide what I wear, you sent Parker away so I wouldn’t have any friends, and because of my lack of sexual experience you decide everything we do sexually. She said she did things with you, and again I know she was lying but she said she did things she never knew existed. That describes me. So again, how am I different?”

It takes every ounce of strength I have not to flip her over my knee as she is once again questioning my feelings for her. I only hold back because I know this will only work against me. No matter how many times I explain to her that she’s different because I love her, I have feelings so deep for her they scare the fucking shit out of me she won’t just accept that for what it is.

“I admitted to you from day one Syd, that I have huge issues around control. That is not going to change, baby. If anything it is much worse with you than it was for my subs because I love you. I can’t stand to think of you in danger, hurt or upset so my controlling tendencies go into overdrive with you.”

“I can’t get past her saying that when it ended you walked away and never looked back. You just told me that’s what you did to the others. So what am I supposed to think about us having an expiration date?”

“We don’t have an expiration date, we don’t have a contract. I told you days ago, we didn’t need one. All we need is us and trust in each other but it doesn’t sound like I have yours at the moment” I say with anger in my voice as I climb out of the tub.

She climbs out of bed and stands in front of me. She nuzzles into my body but I refuse to put my arms around her. She slides her hands up my chest, touching the skin over my stomach and chest and the searing heat her touch causes makes me suck air through my teeth to breathe. “I love you too. I am not going to leave you. “Well then we’ll do a little internet shopping tomorrow” I promise. “But right now you need to get some sleep, you have work in the morning and I can’t wait to see the design for our new room. I’ll stay with you until you fall asleep then I want to check in with the security team.”

“No, please stay with me. Don’t leave me. I’m afraid I’ll have another nightmare if you’re not here” she says as she holds on to me with a death grip.

I promise her I’ll stay as I lay her down on the bed. We make love slowly, Sydney never closing her eyes; we keep our gazes pinned to each other.

When I wake up on Tuesday morning Damian has already left for work, leaving directions for Dominick to drive me to S&S. I dress in a comfortable cream colored sheath dress with black sandals that have a cream colored bow over my toes. I put my hair up in a loose knot at the back of my head. I spread some light make up on my face and a light pink lip gloss across my lips. The media hounds are again waiting for me as I exit the building.

“Sydney Cooper, are you living with Damian? Are you one of his models? Are you getting married?” they call. I don’t think this is something I will ever become accustomed to.

When we arrive I walk into S&S to find two very large, very good looking well-dressed men sitting at desks in the space with Monica and Scott. When Alex hears me enter he calls me into his office, “Sydney, a minute of your time please?” I follow him into his office and Alex closes the door behind us and motions for me to sit in the chair opposite his desk.

“Obviously the two men out there are your undercover security. As far as Scott and Monica know they are working on a project with you for Damian’s new acquisition. He closed on a hotel deal this morning and he has hired you to design the entire project, it will be a full time job that will keep you busy for months. Once this is all over with on Friday we’ll bring Monica and Scott in on it with you but until then they think those two were sent here from Damian.”

“Thank you for being so understanding. I bet this is not what you thought you’d be getting when you asked me to join the team.”

“When Damian’s involved I never know what I’m getting, but I love him too so I’ll make due. I just want you to be safe and all of this to be behind you. Damian has really changed, he truly loves you. I hope you know that. I have never seen him like this before, you’re good for him.”

“I know. It’s all just a lot for me at once but when this is over Damian and I will figure us out.”

Alex tells me to go meet my new “co-workers”. I exit his office and I introduce myself to the men who, I am sure knowing my boyfriend, are trained killers. I learn their names are Hunter and Graham. They are both attractive men with dangerous physics.

“So, should we get to work on the project then?” I ask.

“Sure, Mr. Stone asked that you check your email before we get started.”

Of course he did, with a warning about these two gorgeous men no doubt. His jealousy knows no limits. I boot up my computer and open my email to find emails from Damian waiting for me.

As I’m about to respond to his text I hear my phone ring with Damian’s ring tone, the S&S phone rings and both Hunter and Graham get calls.

“Hi, Day. You got my email I gather?”

“Yes Sydney, I did. Not funny.”

“Lighten up. It was a joke; I don’t want to fight, okay? Please I don’t have the energy for it.”

“Why, are you sick? What’s the matter?”

“No, I’m fine, just tired after everything from yesterday.”

“Sorry I didn’t see you this morning, I had to run out and make an early meeting. We’ll stay in tonight, have a quiet night just looking through Megan’s website and picking some toys for us” he says with promise.

“It sounds like heaven but I was wondering if maybe before we do that we could go to The Society and um, “play” a little?”

“Mmm, I can arrange that.”

“I will try to contact you as often as I can today but I am honestly going to start on the room plans right now so I’m going to be very busy.”

“I will be back to pick you up after work, we’ll head to The Society then. I love you. Did I mention that already today?”

“I love you too, Day. And you may have mentioned it a time or ten in your emails.”

I set an alarm on my phone so I will be alerted every thirty minutes to contact Damian. I tell Hunter and Graham to look busy on a portfolio I give to each of them that includes past S&S hotel designs and I spend the next three and a half hours on the plans for Damian’s playroom and trying to psych myself up for what the evening has in store for me.

Alex generously orders in food for the whole staff. I suspect Damian is footing the bill and is only doing this so I won’t be tempted to leave the building. When the food arrives and it’s from Stone’s I’m sure I’m right. We all gather around the conference table in the presentation room and enjoy easy conversation and great food.

Hunter tells us that he was Ivy League before starting his career in design, which of course is a fake. He says he’s still single but actively looking and asks Monica and me if we have any friends we could fix him up with. Graham tells us about his college days as an athlete and also admits to being single and open to set ups. I have no idea if they are truly single but if they are I’m sure they are having the time of their lives. These two are definitely not hurting for female attention.

After lunch I text Damian and include a thank you for lunch and decide to try out a little sexting with him…
