“Good. As soon as I heal, I hunt,” Nydia said.
A grey salve briefly sparkled on her fingertips as Winter motioned for Nydia to stay on her back. “Then you need to stay off your feet.”
Already formulating a counterplan, Winter hoped her gift made it through. Being an Alpha insurgent is not easy when you have no allies, as of yet.

Khamun sulked around the compound, watching the Initiate who did the impossible and escaped the Curse. Sanna had been home for two week now, and he missed her. Ever since the night she lay resting safe in his bed under his roof, in his arms, he had been locked into her. Shit freaked him out, he thought as he paced.
He knew he wanted her, but after having drank her blood, triggering his Craving, he knew he was officially hers.
“Amit, explain again how you escaped.” Khamun crossed his arms as he studied the still pale male.
His hair was disheveled, but his coloring seemed to be slowly recovering, even though his aura seemed to wane in and out like a flickering light bulb. This kid was something different, but every time he thought he knew what he was, it would go away with a flash. At his neck was a black bite that showed where the poisonous tendrils traveled.
“It was a sport. They wanted to hunt me. The Princess. Look, I told you everything.” He held his hands up, the trauma still evident, and he shook his head.
“What else can you tell us, Amit?” Lenox asked, aware that the man was quickly tiring out.
“I know a lot. I don't know why, but shit, I made sure I paid attention to everything. They want Sanna, and they intend to get her.”
The room grew silent as they watched him. Every man gripped a hidden weapon as they waited for him to continue on.
“I remember hearing about the Princess's desire to make another pet like the Medusa, and the fact that they took an Oracle once made them hype that they could do it again.”
Lenox bit into his apple. Then he spoke up. “Note that there's a connection between Oracles and how the Medusa came to be.”
The pretty girl, he remembered her as Kali, nodded as she clicked away. He watched for a moment before eyes burned into him.
Amit looked up to study the one named Marco. Since being here, the man had been watched like a dog, but something about this team made him comfortable, and he felt blessed that he was safe for the time being. He didn't want to fuck anything up being here, but he couldn't help being curious about Marco. He looked and moved like the Princess in some ways, and he remembered hearing her speak about a dead brother.
“I have a question. So, my man, are you her brother?”
Marco eyed him with a cold stare, his eyes flashing.
That alone answered his question. Something in that stare let him know not to fuck with the man and apparently not to ask him questions so personal. He wanted them to trust him, but he liked his life as well, the little of a life he still had, so he decided to play by the rules. He knew he could help them in some way. He just had to prove himself.
When Marco gripped his gun tighter, the machine click of it brought Amit back to reality, and he had to inwardly sigh. Marco stared at him hard, his annoyance hitting him like a bat to the head as he threw his hands in the air. He just wanted some damn help here to understand it all. A new Oracle, one who he felt he'd lay his life down for just for the help she gave him in that moment, made him want to hold his own in this compound, and the one named Kali made the secret spot in the back of his mind that he had to shut off during his torture and turning. Well, it ached to open again.
“Just kill me before I turn all the way,” he exasperatedly replied, his accent thickening with annoyance. He looked at everyone in the room. His eyes flashed pale, and his body roughly shook as he coughed, a tendril of glowing mist flowing around his body.
“We can't do that. You seem to be an anomaly,” Khamun explained. “After you touched the Oracle you said you felt stronger?” He studied Amit's marked hands.
“Yeah, like she had stopped the venom or something. The Princess liked to infect and bite me while slowing down the progression so that I kept my healthy color. So she said. When I touched Sanna—I mean the Oracle—I felt normal again.”
“A'ight. Then we bring the Oracle here, man, and see what she can do,” Marco said as he sat, one leg thrown over the arm of the La-Z-Boy chair he resided in, his gun on this thigh.
“I can call her, man, get this going, see if she can get any more info, like finding the Princess' lair,” Calvin replied.
“Right.
Mira
, Calvin is talking truth. It's beyond time me and the Princess have some words.
¿Comprendes?

Calvin reached over and pounded fists with Marco as he flashed a bright smile. His green eyes flashed against his milk chocolate skin.
“Khamun, what do you think? You are her Guardian. Is it time to bring her here? Because whatever she did for Amit, he needs her help fast.” Lenox's eyes stayed on Amit's red palms.
“She wants her normalcy, so I'm giving her that. She'll come when she's ready,” Khamun steadily replied, though his mind said otherwise.
“Naw, my man. You don't get it. My cousin is running scared, ya heard meh? Normalcy?” Calvin laughed. “Yeah, right. You know this, Khamun. Shit. I'll get my cousin. Amit needs her help.”
Khamun ran a hand down his face. Calvin was right. He was just acting stupid in doing his job. They had an invalid Nephilim, and the one who can heal him was just around the block. So he nodded at Calvin and said, “I'll go get her.”
“Who runs the world? Finally more ladies in the compound,” Kali happily joked. She moved to sit next to Amit and give him a sustaining mixture, which consisted of Hemorush, blood donated from Kali herself to replenish the lost blood, water, proteins, and herbs.
The drink tasted like cod liver oil, a hint of blood, and cooked grease. Amit cringed while he drank the mixture, his eyes locked on Kali's rear as she walked off.
Marco chuckled while he noticed and growled under his breath. “You just went through some crazy shit. You want her, you need to make sure you live, and then you need to earn that shit.
¿Comprendes?

Amit smiled as he swallowed the rest of the harsh mixture that seemed to connect with his body like thousands of barbwires.
“I'll remember that, my man,” he grunted and gripped his stomach, “but in the meantime, get me some damn
help
!”
Khamun exhaled and walked out so smoothly, no one noticed he was gone.
Khamun easily found her at Aset, in the kitchens with Kyo, testing food out and cooking old recipes as crewmen continued to work around them. He smiled and nodded at the men who worked for him and slid his hands in his pockets. He wore dark denim jeans with brown Tims, a white button-down shirt with black pinstripes, his locks pulled back, braided in a knot.
Everything was coming along just right. How she had her restaurant set up in St. Louis was here but more. Pillars accented the main dining area, and his mural, which he was still working on, sat as a focal point for all who entered. He'd added protection sigils into his work as double defense and he watched each glow tendril swirl, letting him know they were firmly activated.
As he walked toward the kitchens, he took in the carefully constructed beauty. Stainless steel was everywhere, to maintain cleanliness. A wood-burning stove was mounted as another focal point for guests to see from the dining rooms. Everything was spaced out just right to ensure plenty of room.
Herbs and wine decorated the walls as art and for cooking. He was proud of the work done as well as the restoration that took place on the building as well.
“Taste this,” Kyo said, holding out a small cake, walking his way with a smile on her pretty face.
She was covered in flour with icing on her hands. He felt her natural protection barrier soften to let him through. Anyone that was a threat would have to work to get through, and he was proud that she was learning her abilities.
Grabbing the little cake, he took a bite and kept his eyes on Sanna, who seemed to flush red as he approached. Sweet, buttery toffee crème exploded in his mouth as mellow white chocolate seemed to balance the taste out. He immediately thought about Sanna's caramel taste as he slowly closed his eyes.
“I want a personal cake. Make it up, and drop it off at my estate. My mother is visiting, and I know she'd love this cake.”
Kyo beamed, pulling out a notepad. “So it's a success, and one cake coming up. Just, um, give me your address later.”
Khamun chuckled as he rounded close to Sanna. “I will, but in the meantime, I'll have Lenox show you how to get to the estate and send him the bill when he gets you and the cake.”
Kyo blushed with a pep in her walk as she moved around the kitchen.
“Sanna, how you doing, baby?” He studied her quiet frame.
She opened the oven and pulled out a roasted stuffed lobster, golden with butter and herbs. He got the sense she was ignoring him, but before he could question it, Sanna's arms wrapped around him, and she rose to the tip of her toes to kiss the side of his neck.
“I'm good, and I've missed you,” she whispered against his earlobe.
His fangs instantly dropped. His hands found her rear, squeezing, while partially lifting her up. Damn, he missed this woman, and it had only been two weeks. Realizing his stance, he swallowed hard and let go to rest a hand on the small of her back.
He could see Kyo watching them on the sly, a smile on her face as she mouthed to Sanna to hop on his dick. Next time he had the time, he definitely had to gift Kyo with a present for her support.
“Taste this,” broke his concentration.
His mind immediately said,
Hell yeah. I'd taste you definitely.
He blinked and realized she was talking about the lobster. He opened his mouth, and she slid a piece of the tender white flesh into his mouth, which he almost spat out due to heat.
“Damn, woman! That's hot!”
Sanna laughed. She held his hand and pulled him toward a fridge. She opened the door. “I'm sorry. Here's some ice water.”
Smiling, he just studied her, taking photographic memories of her beauty. She wore jeans that accented her deep-set curves with a red tank shirt. Her curly 'fro was pulled back on one side with a red flower, and her bamboo hooped earrings framed her beautiful face. He wanted to kiss her plump, pink lips and kiss the spot under her ear.
“We need to talk.”
Kyo coyly smiled as she mixed batter. “What? Is it time for you both to finally talk about getting some? Because it's beyond time, you know.”

Kyo!!!
” Sanna screeched as she covered her face. “You play too damn much.”
Khamun laughed. The taste of the lobster was
perfecto
. All the flavors balanced just right, garlic, curry, onion, olive oil, and other flavors he was damn sure going to ask her about. He wanted her naked in his kitchen, with food in her hands for him to eat off her body as he cooked dessert for her.
“That's next. But, yeah, I need you both to finish here and come back with me to my compound. Amit needs your help, Sanna. I also want you come meet my mother. It's time for you to get training from her.”
He watched Sanna blink, words forming at her mouth but nothing coming out.
“Stop being scared, San. It's time to learn what this is all about and check on Amit.”
Khamun was beginning to like Kyo more every day. He reached up and ran the pad of his thumb over Sanna's lower lip, watching her calmly with a slight smile.
“It won't be as bad as you think. Your brothers both came by the compound and left safely. The compound is going to be their second home, and I hope it will be your third home.”
Averting her glace, Sanna softly smiled. “Okay. We're just testing some food. We can leave as soon as Kyo is done with your cake and after I visit Darren. I promised to pick up a package for him.”
