I pulled out my phone looking down acting like I was texting someone as I'm walking to my car. I wanted to play like I didn't see him but I knew for damn sure he saw me. I just hope he don't say nothing to me so we can continue on with our business.

Right, when I looked up to see if he was looking at me he was dead in my face stopping me in tracks. It kind of startled me but it ain't show. I looked up at him right in my face as he looked down towering over me.

I raised my eyebrows and gave a weak smile. "Hey," I spoke.

"What up where you bout to go?"

I stepped back a little "I'm bout to go meet up with my study partner."

"Cool," he nodded his head.

I looked away turning my head to the side up at the sky. I felt so awkward I just wanted to walk off. I looked back at him as he was staring at my outfit.

"You wore that to school," he asked squinting his eyes.

I gazed down at my outfit then back up at him "Yep," I blankly replied.

He shook his head "Gots to do better, don't wear no shit like that to school anymore."

I scrunched up my eyebrows "What's wrong with what I got got on."

"You showing to much shorty, the fact that you went to school with your stomach and breast out like that is inappropriate and I really feel like you need to go change into something else right now but I'ma let you slide this time."

I gave grimaced and rolled my eyes "Yea iight' I got to go," I say walking off headed to my car. I really wasn't trying to hear him lecturing me about what I was wearing, I'm bout grown, so he really need to gone head and pipe down on all of that, I do what the fuck I want and wear what I want to wear.

"Hold on Ashley I need to talk to you for a second," he came up from behind me, putting his arms around my shoulders, walking me towards my car.

I stopped once I got around to the driver side and turned his way looking up at him ready for him to speak. Not being able to run or avoid this situation any longer I'm ready to have this conversation I've been dreading to have, face the issue and get it over with.

"So What’s up," I folded my arms slick irritated.

He knitted his brows "I'm saying! What's up with you. I haven't seen or spoken to you in a couple weeks, you good?"

I nodded my head assuring him I was good.

"You sure because damn, it seems like you been avoiding the shit out of me,"

"No I haven't been avoiding you I just been keeping to myself,"

He gave a slow head nod. "Oh really, I could've sworn I just sent you a text a couple days ago telling you we needed to talk and I ain't get no reply what's so ever... So what’s up why you been avoiding me."

I smacked my lips looking over at the Escalade "I told you I just been keeping to myself,"

"And why is that,” He said folding his arms waiting on me to answer.

I steady looked off not saying a word. He snapped his fingers "Stop looking over there, look at me. . . So tell me why is that," he pushed the question.

I shot him a stern look "You know why Poppi, stop. " I put my hand up "Look I been Keeping to myself because I don't want to be around you, and." I paused for a second then shook my head "you know what I don't even want to talk about this right now,"

"Na we going to talk about this, you been avoiding me long enough. Keep that shit 100. Get whatever off your chest and say what you have to say," he spoke leaning his back against my car.

"Because! I shouldn't never do what I did and even went there with you. I'm so ashamed and embarrassed that I don't even want to be around you because I crossed that line. I don't know how you feel about me now, and I don't want things to be awkward between us so I would just rather keep my distance and keep out your way,"

He pushed up from against the car and stepped closer to me towering over me once again.

He licked his lips and chuckled "See you worrying about the wrong shit, because ain't nobody worrying about that little kiss you gave me. I been knowing you had a crush on me since you were a little girl and probably been wanted to kiss me. I mean who wouldn't," He said stroking his chin with his fingers.

I giggled a little shaking my head and rolling my eyes.

"Hey it is what it is, but ain't shit change and it for damn sure ain't change how I feel about you. I still see you as little sis, I'm always going to be here for you, I'm always going to protect and look over you if I was your legal guardian or not. I don't want you to feel awkward around me and think my feelings changed towards you. That's makes me uncomfortable, because ain't shit change! I promise you, Shorty we good,"

Hearing those words coming from his mouth just lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. I really ain't know how he felt about that situation and thought that he looked at me differently. I didn't want things to be uncomfortable between us because I live in this man’s house, and tried to stay out his way.

Also me hearing him say that made me happy and feel like I can get through life a little easier without having all this tension. Before the kiss everything was perfect between me and Poppi and I loved our relationship and I'm glad to know everything going to be the same.

I grinned shyly looking down. He lifted my chin with the tip of his index finger to look up at him.

"We good?" he asked

I smiled nodding my head " Yea we good man,"

"Good because that avoiding shit is out," he waved his hand across his throat.

I smacked my lips "Ok Poppi I ain't going to avoid you anymore," I laughed

"I know, because I ain't going to let that shit happen." He placed Both his hands on my shoulders "Now can I get a hug, sheesh,"

I wrapped my arms around his torso and he wrapped his arms around my shoulders hugging me tightly.

He let go of the embrace and stepped back. "So how's school?"

"Schools good actually, I'm catching my grades up so I'm doing good."

He nodded his head "That's really good," he said as his phone started ringing. He grabbed his phone from out of his pocket looking at the screen.

"I got to take this, Imma let you gone head and go study" he say about to walk off but stop and turned around "and look I'm proud of you okay, keep up the good work. I Love you, I’ll talk to you later," He bent down kissing me on my forehead before answering the phone and walking off.

I smiled looking at him walk off then got in my car. I cranked up my ignition and drove to my destination.

I was sitting in Starbucks waiting on Dwayne to get here for about thirty minutes now. I had ordered to large vanilla bean Frappuccino and mine was about gone and his was about melted. I was getting impatient and was ready to leave and just say fuck it. He ass was taking too long and I ain't got time.

I waited for about five more minutes and he still wasn't here so I grabbed my book bag and was getting ready to dip. Right when I stood up to leave I see Dwayne coming through the door. He walked up to me but I bumped him walking right past him.

He grabbed my elbow "What's up where you going,"

"I'm bout go," I snatched away from him.

"For what I just got here," He asked with a confused look.

"Nigga you had my waiting on your ass for about an hour. I don't' got time to be dealing with your rude ass today"

"Man shut yo ass up it hasn’t even been that long, plus I texted you and told you I was going to be a little late so I don't even know why you tripping like this."

"Mothafucka don't tell me to shut up you shut up. And yea you said you was going to be 10 minutes late, 30 minutes done passed. Your fucking coffee, cappuccino, Frappuccino, whatever the fuck it's called done melted. You don't know what I got going on or what I have to tend to." I snapped.

He stood there looking at me, then chuckled like something was funny. He then started laughing and I noticed this dude was bout high as a kite. Not really amused as much as he was, he was now really pissing me off. But at the same time I notice he had a really cute smile with one dimple on his right cheek.

I ain't never seen him smile before and I ain't even going to lie I thought it was low key sexy on him. Anyways he's cute or whatever, I still ain't find shit amusing.

I twisted up my face "You mad disrespectful and you rude as fuck. I'm about to go. Ain't nobody got time," I looked at him up and down one last time before turning my back on him and exiting out the door.

He got me messed up if he thinks I'm bout to stay there and put up with his ill-mannered ass. No sir not me, I don't know how them Detroit bitches get down but he in Cali and he got the game fucked up.

I hopped in my car and drove out of Starbucks parking lot. About a minute later I got a text from him.

Dwayne: I like that, that was cute..

Looking at the message I grinned then shook my head. "Boy whatever," I said as if he can hear me. I didn't reply and placed my phone in my lap. A second later another text came through.

Dwayne: Wit yo extra ass. . . .

I laughed at that because I know I can be "So what I don't give a fuck," I spoke again like he can hear me but didn't reply again and threw my phone into the passenger seat.

Not really upset anymore because it ain't that serious. But one thing about it. That nigga still got me fucked up.

Chapter 24

Dwayne

There once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her heart. . .Putting the finishing touches on this broken heart, under this beautiful poem on the torso of my new client as she sat in the tattoo chair letting out loud moans, I put down my tattoo gun and sprayed some green soap on a disposable paper towel before wiping the tattoo down, then applied anti-bacterial ointment across my finished piece.

"All finished, wanna check it out," I spoke to India, my newest client.

She let down her long black hair, slowly getting up from the chair, and tossing her head back she replied "Oh thank GOD, that hurt so bad, but I appreciate you being so gentle with me" She smiled biting down on her lip.

"No problem," I replied.

As she was twisting her hips side to side in the mirror admiring my art, I realized she thick as fuck, '4.9'' light skin, grey eyes with a Monroe piercing. She got to be mixed with something.... white, Indian or some shit, I really don't know nor care.

She been slick flirting with me since she walked through the door but shawty too turnt for me, plus I really don't date mixed chicks. Most of them bitches think they god’s gift to earth, stuck up and of the worst attitudes.

"OMG OMG it's so cute I love it, I love it OMG I'm so happy it came out so perfect, way better than I could ever imagine, thank you so much," She replied with a soft but squeaky voice.

"No problem Man," I said, as she reached into her small blue jean shorts and pulled out $200 and handed to me. She gave me a $50-dollar tip because the tattoo only cost $150. I put the money in my pocket and proceeded to put the clear bandage across her rib cage.

"Good lookin out Man, I appreciate that," I say as she carefully pulled her shirt down covering her tattoo up.

"Make sure to leave the bandage on for at least two hours, when you remove it gently wash it with antibacterial soap using only your hand, pat it dry with a paper towel "I say moving my right hand in a patting motion over my left arm " use A&D ointment on it, not Vaseline. I know nigga's say it’s the same thing but it's not, make sure to use only enough to make it shine, repeat that for at least five days till it starts to peel then you can use regular lotion on it".
