I stepped towards him. He took a step back.

“Don’t, Kat.”

I moved closer to him, trapping him into the corner. My hand brushed his hair out of his face and rested on his shoulder.

I stood on my tip toes and whispered in his ear, my breasts pressing against his chest, my heart pounding.

“Please Tom.”

His eyes met mine straight on when I pulled away slightly, facing him, our bodies still pressed close.

“I don’t hate you, Kat,” he let out with a sigh.

I glanced at his lips, then his eyes. I couldn’t help myself as my lips brushed his.

“We said we wouldn’t do this,” he protested.

“I want you, I can’t help it,” I whispered as warmth spread through me.

His mouth crushed to mine, his body pressing against me as he threw me back against the wall. His hands grabbed my wrists as he pressed them over my head, his mouth on my neck. When he found my lips again, he let go of my wrists and my arms went around his neck. His hands ran up my legs as he lifted them around him. He lifted me easily off of the ground; I held on to him as he carried me to his bedroom and laid me on his bed. He came down on me, slipping off my pants. He pressed into me. My eyes shut tight as I shivered. He kissed me softly as he slowly moved in me, the feeling was exhilarating. He wasn’t just having sex with me; he was making love to me. My hand grasped his as our eyes met.

“I love you, Kat,” he whispered

“I love you too, Tom” I responded, pulling his lips back to mine.

His breath started to quicken as his lips slightly parted. I wrapped my legs tighter around him when he began moving quicker. Wordlessly, he thumped harder into my core, his eyes never leaving mine. Suddenly his eyes shut tightly as he threw his head back and breathed out raggedy. He paused briefly before rolling off of me, his hand still in mine.

“We shouldn’t have done that,” he said breathlessly.

“Why?”

“You know why, Kat, I told you before, we agreed, it wouldn’t happen again.” He managed shakily.

“I don’t care, Tom. I wanted it.” I said, rolling to face him on my side.

He reached out and touched my face and smiled. His smiled turned onto a frown as he sat up. He paused before standing and pulling up his jeans. He threw mine to me, I put them on slowly.

“Come on, Tom,” I begged

“Come on what?” his voice low.

I wrapped my arms around his waist and buried my head into his chest.

He untangled himself from me. “You need to get back to Shane, Kat. We can… you can… you can come to practice tomorrow.”

“Thank you, Tom.”

He looked down at the ground, “I…” he started. I realized what he was going to say, for it was on the tip of my tongue too.

“Don’t Tom,” I walked over and kissed him once more. “I’ll see you tomorrow, I promise.” I let go of him and left.

I didn’t realize I was shaking until I got into the car.

She came to practice the next day where everyone was grateful to have her back, myself included, as much as I didn’t want to admit to anyone. She was back to normal, flirting with James and Ian, even throwing glances at me, which I had to stop myself from glancing back. She breathed sexuality, and was, as far as Shane and she had told me, involved in a very healthy, sexual relationship. Still, I could see she wasn’t a hundred percent happy. Something was missing.

“I have to go meet Shane’s parents next week,” she said after we were done practicing.

“Getting serious?” I asked casually

“I don’t know… I hope… but then again… I’m so bad with commitment; the whole idea makes me… ugh.”

“Then don’t marry him if he asks you, simple.” I answered

She shrugged. “If I marry him, then I can’t have you anymore,” she smirked

“I don’t think we should be doing it anyways, Kat.”

“But you want to?” she asked, coming closer to me.

“That’s enough, Kat.”

She pouted, “Okay, forget I said anything” she said as she moved away from me, readjusting the scarf on her microphone.

“Is it lucky yet?” I asked

“Always,” she whispered meeting my eyes and smiling.

Shane

“I’m excited to meet your parents!” Kat exclaimed.

“Me too, Kat,” I assured her

In truth I was nervous. I knew my father would love her, but my mother… she was another story.

“What are their names again?” she asked innocently.

I smiled, “Bob and Susan.”

“Bob and Susan,” she repeated.

We were driving about an hour and a half north to my hometown and would be staying with them for a week. I wanted them to approve of Kat. I almost felt as if I needed it before I proposed to her.

“Shane,” my mother cried, teary eyed. She pulled me close into an embrace. Laughing I hugged her back before turning to my father.

“This is Kat.” I said introducing her.

“Hello,” she said softly.

It was almost arousing to see her so shy, a rare trait for her.

I watched my father look her up and down and my mother’s eyes fixate on him.

“Well, she’s quite a looker, Shane.” He nodded in approval.

Kat blushed as my mother stood there stony eyed. “Yes,” she said after a period of silence, “she sure is.”

We walked into the house carrying our bags.

“I hope you don’t mind,” my mother said, “but I’ve set you in separate rooms, I don’t expect there to be any ‘activities’ going on here.”

Kat laughed unexpectedly. She quickly covered her mouth when I shot a look at her. “You’re serious?” she asked.

“I sure am,” my mother continued, “now, Kat you can have the guest bedroom while Shane, your old room.” She turned beaming at me. “Oh it’s so good to see you, honey,” she exclaimed hugging me again.

She turned to Kat, “Dinner will be ready at 5:00, I expect you to be freshened up by then.”

She smiled at me again before her and my father went downstairs.

What the fuck was that?” Kat turned on me

“She’s just a little overprotective.

“A little?” Kat asked in annoyance.

“I don’t know if I can do this, Shane, a week without touching you? God, that’s like real punishment.”

“I know, Kat,” I said while pushing her arm away from me, “Stop,”

She pouted. I wanted to kiss the pout off her face but I knew what it would lead to, and I really wasn’t in the mood to deal with that.

After about three days I had about enough. Shane was acting like a totally different person. He wouldn’t even kiss me except for a quick peck on the cheek.

I couldn’t sleep on the fourth night and went outside in the cool fall air.

“Can I light you up?”

I turned at the voice. It was Bob, Shane’s father.

“You scared me,” I sighed.

His crocked smiled resembled Shane’s perfectly.

“Can’t sleep either?” I asked

He shook his head. “Nah, can’t anymore. I usually go play a couple rounds of pool in the garage. Care to join?” his eyes were twinkling, I couldn’t refuse.

“I’ve only played a couple times.

“No problem, I’m glad for the company.”

“Shane’s a lucky man, you know” he began as he came behind me to position my body correctly for a shot.

“I like to think so” I giggled.

His body was close to me, holding me in position.
He’s enjoying this
I thought.

I turned to him, his face inches from mine with desire in his eyes.

“I better get going, I’ll be exhausted in the morning,” I explained.

“Yes,” he agreed. “I’m gonna play a couple rounds and I’ll see you in the morning,” he said clearly embarrassed.

I walked out of the garage without glancing back.

“What am I getting myself into”
I thought.

The next morning I decided I was going to seduce Shane. This was utterly ridiculous. We were adults who may not be married, but we could make our own decisions. I chose a short dress with stockings that I knew he liked to see me in.

“I’m going to make a phone call,” I said to the group, going upstairs. Shane’s eyes watched me.

I got to the guest room where I quickly dialed Thomas, we had finally gone back to our “normal” friendship and things were smoother.

“I’m going fucking crazy,” I said in a low voice.

“Kat, you’re gonna be okay, it’s only for a couple more days.”

“Seriously, Tom, if you were in his place would you doing this?”

“You know I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off you that long,” he said in a low voice.

Creak

I turned to see Shane in the doorframe.

“I…” I started to say.

He took the phone out of my hand and hung it up without a word. He walked back over to the door. For a brief second I thought he would leave, but he shut it and locked it.

I sat on the bed, my breasts spilling over the top of my dress, his eyes hungrily taking them in.

His mouth came down on mine and I pulled him down on top of me. He pulled up my dress and parted my underwear to the side. Pulling himself out of his pants, he entered me.

As he began to move, he froze.

“What are you two doing in there?”

It was his mother, knocking on the door.

“Just focus on me,” I said

He kissed me, moving harder and faster with each pound at the door.

I felt a moan escape my lips, “Shane”, I moaned.

He laughed, his body moving within me still.

“Fuck, Kat,” he moaned, finishing hard.

I giggled, still lying beneath him. He soon untangled himself from me and dressed. I did the same. When we opened the door, his mother was there staring at us.

“How dare you,” she said harshly to me.

I raised an eyebrow and walked down the stairs.

“You’re going to let her talk to me like that?’ she shouted at Shane.

I passed Bob, “I’ll handle it” he said, his eyes dancing.

In the end, I found a friend in Bob and an enemy in Susan, but I also got to stay in the same room as Shane the rest of the trip.

I had thought the trip meet my parents was successful, although Kat would have told one otherwise.

“Your mother hates me,” she moaned as we unpacked our things. We had just gotten home from our trip and she was in one of her moods.

“No, she doesn’t hate you, Kat.”

She pouted, pulling her empty suitcase to the closet. She disappeared for a moment inside and came out empty handed. “Can we just go to bed?” she asked

“Sure.”

She stripped off of her clothes and lay in bed, the sheet outlining her curves.

“Aren’t you going to join me?” she asked

I lifted off my shirt, her eyes following me the whole time as I finally plopped down in bed beside her. She was quick to get me excited and before I knew it, I was inside of her and making love to her. She let out a loud cry as her body clenched down on me.

“Kat,” I said afterwards.

She looked up at me in acknowledgement

“Marry me.”

Her lips curled in a smile.

“Yes!” she shrieked, throwing her arms tightly around me.

I laughed with her; I could picture a future with her. She was like a wild stallion that could be tamed I felt. After all, she had so strangely tamed me.

I thought us two of the same. I had been so like her in my youth, but she… she had something that made me addicted to her. I loved her and she loved me… or so I thought…

November 1985

It was cliché of Shane to propose to Kat on her birthday. It was even more cliché for Drew to do it a week later. It was like the two couples were competing against each other.
Neptune
had just finished a new album
Raising Hell
and with the single
Burn It
we were back on the map and Kat was in her glory once more. Despite all of the drama and I was looking to have us tour again. Kat wasn’t interested unless she could be with Shane, which secretly hurt me more than I let on.

“What if he cheats on me?” she complained.

It was like she had forgotten all about me, yet again.

“I seriously doubt that’s going to happen, and you… we I should say, have no room to talk.”

She pouted, “What if”

Kat had really begun to come into herself. She had turned into an incomparable beauty, and now at nineteen she was unstoppable. I think she thought herself a bit invincible.
