Chapter Twelve

He left her. Jace actually walked away, leaving her with her panties hanging off one foot. Sitting up on the edge of her desk, Ashlynn gasped as grief and despair tore at her heart. A flash of loneliness stabbed at her like she had never encountered before in her life. She couldn’t believe this was happening to her.

“Jace…come back. We need to talk about this. You can’t leave me. What about
satisfaction
? You can’t go through that agony because of me…. Please…baby, come back!”

She tried jumping off the desk and going after him, but her underwear got caught on her high heel, making her stumble.

Ashlynn quickly pulled her underwear off and raced to the spot Jace disappeared from, hoping he heard her pleas and would come back. She had to make him understand that she wasn’t denying him. She wanted him with a burning need. The pain in her heart became a sick and fiery, gnawing feeling.

“Jace, I do want you. Please come back,” Ashlynn hollered as she fell to her knees, not caring about anything else but her man. “I accept you. I want to be your mate.”

The knowledge twisted and turned inside of her stomach that he was truly gone this time. The swell of pain taking over her body was beyond tears. He had come to her with his heart wide open, and she tossed it away along with his love without a second thought.

Trapped by her own selfish needs, she lost the only man who ever truly cared about her. Jace loved her and was willing to go against everything he believed in because she pushed for it, and it cost her…his love. Something she didn’t know she dearly wanted until it was gone.

Swallowing the sob that rose in her throat, she dragged herself up off the floor. She wasn’t going to let this happen. Jace was hers! He told her as much that he spent almost two hundred years looking for her, and she wasn’t about to live a life without him in it.

Ashlynn brushed her tears away with the back of her hands. She couldn’t get Jace back without Devin’s help. He would tell her where to find his brother. She would make him understand what an idiot she was and convince him that she wanted to be his mate.

She loved him. God, just don’t let it be too late for her to take back her hurtful words, or she didn’t know how she would be able to go on without Jace.

After rushing over to her purse, she dug through it, pulling out her cell phone. She dialed Krishell’s number, praying that Devin was at home and still not at work. She had to get him to tell her where Jace was staying. She had to get to him.

“Hello,” Devin answered on the first ring.

“Devin, you have to help me,” she choked out as tears filled her eyes again.

“Ashlynn, what can I do for you?” he asked in a cool voice. Ashlynn knew from his tone that Jace had already talked to him.

“Please tell me where Jace is. I need to talk to him,” she begged.

“Why don’t you just leave him alone? My brother is already heartbroken enough because you denied him, and now he will have to experience the full cycle of satisfaction because of your selfishness.”

“No, I don’t want that to happen. He can’t be in pain like that because of me. I was so wrong. I tried to tell him before he vanished, but I didn’t get the words out in time. Devin, I love him. I can’t be here without him. Please…tell me how to find him.”

“Why didn’t you tell me that in the first place?” Devin demanded roughly. “He’s staying in the penthouse suite at the Kent Palace, but you better hurry up. I think he’s flying out on his private plane pretty soon. He had his pilot on standby just in case you turned him away this last time.”

“Shit. Kent Palace is almost a twenty-minute drive from here,” Ashlynn cried as she grabbed her purse and raced toward the door. “I have to stop him. Thank you so much.”

“You’re welcome, but I have to warn you, as hurt as Jace is, he might not believe anything you tell him.”

“I know, but I’m hoping my love will be enough to make him see how stupid I have been.” Ashlynn shut her phone, hoping she would get there in time to stop Jace from leaving her.

Chapter Thirteen

Kent Palace

Standing inside of the elevator, Ashlynn kept watching as the numbers flickered past, cursing at how long it was taking for it to get her to the top floor. If she hadn’t gotten held up by the front desk, she could’ve been inside Jace’s room by now.

God, if that bitchy woman made her miss seeing Jace, she would go back down there and kick her ass. The elevator finally beeped, and the doors opened directly into Jace’s room. She didn’t waste a minute rushing off it.

“Jace, are you still here?” Ashlynn hollered as she rushed into the living room.

She tossed her purse down on the couch, running from room to room as heartbreaking disappointment started to settle in at the fact Jace might be gone. There was only one room left to check, and it was the bedroom.

Ashlynn hurried down the long hallway past the small kitchen/bar on the right side and opened the bedroom door, stopping in her tracks as her gaze landed on the bed. It was completely made up, and there wasn’t a sign of Jace in sight. He was gone. She covered her face with trembling hands and gave in to the agony of her loss.

“Ashlynn, what are you doing here?”

Her hands fell from her face a second before Ashlynn spun around, and her heart jumped with love at seeing Jace standing there. He looked heartbroken, and some of his usual confidence was gone, but she hadn’t missed him. She still had a chance to tell him that she loved him.

“I thought I had missed you,” she said, taking a step toward him, but he walked around her and headed over to the nightstand at the side of the bed.

“I was gone, but I forgot my cell phone. I had my driver bring me back to get it.” He picked it up off the table, holding it up for her to see. “I answered your question, but you didn’t answer mine. Why are you in my room?”

“I need to tell you something. You left so fast from the studio that I couldn’t get the words out of my mouth in time.”

“You told me enough while I was there,” Jace said. “I need to leave. My pilot is waiting for me at the airport. Have a nice life, Ashlynn. I hope you find what you are looking for since it wasn’t me.”

She wasn’t going to let this happen a second time to her. After rushing up to Jace, she stood in front of his path, blocking his way. “No, you aren’t going to leave until you hear me out.”

One blond eyebrow arched at her. “You know that I can move you without even breaking a sweat, don’t you?”

“I know you can, but will you do it?” she tossed back, praying that he wouldn’t.

“Ashlynn, I’m tired of playing games with you.” The pain in his voice tore at her heart. Ashlynn wanted to do everything she could to take it away.

“I’m not here to play games with you. I shouldn’t have been doing it in the first place,” she admitted. “I came looking for you because I love you. I wasn’t aware someone could fall in love with another person as fast as I did with you, and it scared me.”

Instead of smiling and telling her that he loved her too, to her surprise, he showed no reaction; Jace only stood there staring at her as if she were a stranger.

“No. Thank you. I don’t want your love. I would rather suffer through s
atisfaction
than be with a woman who can’t be honest with herself or me.” He tried stepping around her, but she blocked his way a second time.

“What?” she gasped.

“I can’t handle your pity. Did you feel bad breaking the vampire’s heart, and now you feel the need to mend it? Sorry, but you can keep your words and just move out of my way. I need to get back to my nightclub.”

“I came here because I love you. Your heart isn’t the one who needs mending; mine is. I have been tossed away so many times by unworthy men that I wasn’t ready for when the perfect one showed up for me. You are the only thing I need. Please believe me. Jace, I want to be with you. I accept you as my mate.”

Standing on her tiptoes, Ashlynn brushed her lips against the side of his neck, feeling how warm his skin was. He felt so hot to her. He must’ve been in such pain to be this warm. All she wanted to do was take it away, replacing it with her undying love.

“Stop…don’t do this to me,” Jace whispered as he gripped her arms tightly but not enough to hurt her.

“I can’t stop. I love you so much. Take me as your mate. Bite me. Turn me so the pain I felt when you walked away from me will go away.”

Suddenly, without warning, Jace moved her back from his body as his eyes gazed down into hers, holding her prisoner with an intensity she had never seen before. If he was trying to scare her, it was too late for that, because he was in her blood.

He took one of his hands off her arms and brushed his thumb over the vein in her neck. “Are you telling me you will let me bite this delicious neck of yours while my cock pounds away in that sweet pussy of yours? You will drink my blood and forever be changed?”

“Yes,” she whispered, staring into Jace’s face as her mind envisioned the image of their bodies naked, sweaty, entwined on the bed as she begged him for release.

Moving back to him, Ashlynn worked on the front button on Jace’s white shirt. “I want you to do each and every thing it takes to make me like you. I can’t bear the thought of being without you for another minute. Haven’t you thought about what it would be like to have me screaming your name as you turned me into your woman?”

“Ashlynn, you need to stop playing with me. I won’t be able to control my urges much longer,” Jace growled.

“Stop doing it,” she whispered right before placing a kiss above his nipple.

“Remember, I warned you.”

Jace picked her up in his arms and carried her over to the bed. He tossed her down on it and stripped her out of her clothing in a matter of seconds. After she was completely naked, Jace stood at the side of the bed and stripped out of his clothing, finally allowing her eyes to see the chiseled body she had been dreaming about.

Instead of joining her on the bed, he dropped to his knees and spread her thighs apart. She watched as he licked his lips while his eyes stared at her exposed pussy. “Do you know how long I have wanted to see you like this?” he demanded as his finger reached out and traced her cunt, allowing her juices to cover his finger.

“No, I don’t,” she whimpered softly.

“Way too long, and I’m going to finally get what I deserve after the torture you put me through.” Jace lowered his head, running the tip of his tongue across her pussy before one of his fingers found her clit.

“Jace,” Ashlynn screamed as her hands gripped the bedspread at her sides. “Oh, God, Jace!"

Raising his head, he looked at her. “That’s it. Call my name. Let everyone know who your body belongs to now and forever.” He gave her one more lingering look before he lowered his head again and continued to eat at her pussy with confident strokes.

Chapter Fourteen

He never tasted anything so perfect in his life. Jace spread Ashlynn’s thighs even wider, holding them down to the bed. He continued to get his fill of the delicious treat she was offering to him. God, he wanted to do this for the rest of the day, but his cock was hurting too bad. He had been in agonizing pain ever since he saw Ashlynn, and now it was time for her to end it.

Taking one more swipe of her juices, Jace planted a kiss at the side of her thigh before he kissed his way up her beautiful body. He could smell the sweetness of her blood as it flooded through her veins, begging him to taste her.

Holding her, he lined up his throbbing cock with her tight entrance and slowly began to dip inside of her. Jace couldn’t help but watch as his cock entered his mate; the contrast between their skin colors was beautiful. It was a sight he would never forget for all of eternity.

“Jace, you feel so…” Ashlynn panted as he continued to slide his dick inside of her.

“I feel like what?” he asked, running the tip of his fangs across her neck, making her shiver before taking her completely with one sure thrust, hard and deep.

“Thick…hard…perfect,” she gasped as she raised her hips.

“Are you okay?”

“I’m perfect.” Her slender fingers ran down the length of his back before stopping at his hips. “Please make me yours. I want you. I love you. I accept you, Jace Diamont.”

Hearing those words, Jace sank his incisors into her neck, drawing her blood into his mouth as his cock pounded away in her. He tried to be as gentle as he could, but her pussy was gripping his cock like a wet glove. It felt so good to finally be buried in his mate.

Suddenly, Ashlynn gripped his hips tighter, yanking him closer to her. “Jace, fuck me,” she hollered loudly, tossing her head back and forth on the pillow. “This feels so right…so good. I don’t want it ever to stop. I need to be with you forever!”

Running his tongue over the two puncture holes on her neck, he closed up the wound. Jace raised his chest off Ashlynn and ran his nail over his chest, drawing blood. He stared down into her face, finding her gaze on him. “Drink from me. Become my mate and live by my side. I will protect you with my life.”

Ashlynn raised her head. She pressed her lips against his hot skin without hesitation, drawing his blood into her mouth. The touch of her mouth on him almost sent Jace over the edge, but he held back so both of them could experience it together. He allowed her to drink from him a few more minutes before lifting her head away.

Finally!

Ashlynn was his.

He captured her lips as their mouths came together with a white-hot need neither one of them was expecting. Jace lowered them both down to the bed and drew his mate’s tongue back into his mouth as her pussy clamped down on his cock, giving him the final push over the edge. Seconds later, Ashlynn’s legs wrapped around his hips as her orgasm took over her entire body.

Jace collapsed on top of Ashlynn for a few minutes before he pulled his cock out of her and rolled over to his side. He pulled her tight against his body, planting a kiss at the back of her neck. He knew it would feel like this when he finally got to be with her, but he wondered what she was thinking. He listened, and his heart broke at hearing her crying softly.

Flipping her over, he stared down into her face, noticing the tears on her smooth cheek. “My God. I hurt you, didn’t I?”

Ashlynn shook her head, pressing her fingers against his mouth. “No, you didn’t hurt me. I loved every minute of it. Even taking your blood was a turn-on I wasn’t expecting.”

He gently removed her hand and planted a kiss in the center of her palm. “If I didn’t hurt you, then why are you crying right after we made love?”

“I almost lost you because I wasn’t being honest with myself. I allowed events from my past to keep me from seeing what was right in front of me. I knew the moment you kissed my hand you were different from any of the other men I had dated, but I didn’t want to believe it.”

After taking her hand away from him, Ashlynn placed it against Jace’s cheek, loving the beginning of the five o’clock shadow she felt there. “I thought my life was over when I rushed over to see you after you had vanished from my studio. When I saw the penthouse was empty, my heart broke into a thousand pieces.

“I was about to lose it until I heard your voice behind me. I knew then I have been given a second chance to prove my love to you, but you came off so cold and unfeeling.”

“Sweetheart, I was on the plane, about ready to leave Kansas, when I felt your pain. You are the reason I came back, not my cell phone. I heard your tears in my head, felt them in my heart. I knew then you were ready to take the love I was willing to give you. However, I had to hear the words before I could give you what you wanted from me.”

Tears filled Ashlynn’s eyes as she stared at the wonderful man she was blessed to spend forever with. “Thank you for not giving up on me even when I was being difficult and unreasonable.”

“Sweetheart, love is more than just being with the person through the good times. A person has to accept the bad ones as well, but I have to admit, I hope the bad ones are over, because you are one difficult woman to wait for,” he admitted, grinning at her.

Sliding her hand behind her mate’s neck, she pulled Jace’s head closer until their mouths were inches apart. “How about I show you what a good mate I can be, Mr. Diamont?”

“I have a few suggestions if you are interested,” he teased.

“Bring them on. I’m not a woman to back down from a challenge, especially when it’s coming from someone as good looking as my mate.”

Ashlynn couldn’t keep the smile off her face as Jace pressed his lips against her ear and told her everything he wanted her to do for him and to him. Without a doubt, the rest of her life was going to be full of surprises, but most importantly love, and she couldn’t wait.
