“Don’t start that shit Kita.” Kerry reached for the bottle of vodka. “This is what I’ve been waiting for.”  She took the top off and drank straight from the bottle.

ShaKita frowned from seeing Kerry’s distasteful facial expression. “Damn, you really needed this break didn’t you?”

Kerry laughed. “Hell yeah, I have four bad asses running ‘round here. You’re lucky you don’t have any.”

“Tell me about it and I don’t want none either.” ShaKita responded.

“Not to mention that I’m still getting used to this crazy schedule since Justin left,” Kerry added.

“Yeah well, you didn’t need his raggedy ass anyway.” Kerry cut her eyes over at her sister. “No don’t give me that look. Any man that lets a woman half his age come between him and his wife needs their ass kicked. Sis, you’re so better off without him.”

Kerry shook her head. “Quit being so judgmental Kita. You keep forgetting that Justin is my children’s father.”

“AND,” ShaKita interjected with a snap of the neck. “I wouldn’t have two words for his grimy ass. The only thing he could do is pick up the kids when he supposed too and make sure I get my child support every week. Other than that-”

“Kita hush. You have to learn to let go of hatred and forgive people. Some men are just ignorant and don’t know no better.”

“So you’re saying that you’ve forgiven him for all the times you’ve sat here crying your eyes out because he didn’t come home at night or all the times he’s lied to you about being with that bitch?” ShaKita questioned.

Kerry shook her head. “Kita huuuuuush,” she impatiently responded. “Tonight is supposed to be drama free; meaning that I don’t wanna talk about Justin’s ass or his lil skinny bitch. It’s been three months since he moved out and the ink is definitely dried up on our divorce papers. I’m OVER him and I suggest you get OVER him too.”

“Yeah well I wish I could go OVER his house and kick his ass for you.”

Kerry burst out laughing. “I’m sure that you could very well kick his lil skinny ass but I don’t need you to fight my battles little sister. Trust me, I’m good and the kids are good too. So, can we get off of that subject please?”

ShaKita smirked. “Okay you win.”  She then grabbed one of the chicken wings and began eating it. “First one here is the first to eat. You know the rules.”

Kerry shook her head. “You would say that with your greedy ass.” They laughed because ShaKita was the thinnest of the five sisters but always ate like a pig.

“I see you came in here with just a bottle of liquor. Where is your appetizer, Missy?” Kerry asked.

“You know I don’t cook. I got Lauren to make the potato salad for me.” She responded while opening the refrigerator and grabbing a Bud Ice.

“Speaking of Lauren, she just pulled up in her new Acura.” Kerry said as she peeked out of the kitchen window.

“She’s certainly been walking on cloud nine lately.” ShaKita commented.

“More like riding,” Kerry added.

A moment later, Lauren kicked the front door softly with her foot. “Open the door!” She yelled out.

ShaKita hurriedly made her way to the front door and opened it. “Damn, Lolo. You didn’t say that you were bringing the supermarket with you.”

“Hush Kita and grab one of these bags. If I wasn’t holding this bowl of potato salad that I made for you I wouldn’t need any help.”

“Just give me a bag and the bowl. I wanted to be the first taste tester anyway.” She commented, grabbing a plastic bag containing Straw’ber’rita’s and the bowl of potato salad.

Lauren shook her head. “You would say that with your greedy ass.”

Kerry laughed. “Same thing I just told her.” She commented as she hugged and kissed Lauren on the cheek. “Hey Sis.”

“Hello my beautiful Sister,” Lauren spoke back with a frown on her face.  “What is that you’re wearing? Looks old fashioned.” She grinned.

Kerry smirked as she took the two bottles of Ciroc out of her hand before she dropped them. “This is not old fashioned; it’s comfortable. Plus, this is a Carol Hochman Designs nightgown.” She said.

“Looks more like something mom should be wearing to bed.” Lauren stated as she sat the bowl of meatballs and the pan of shrimp pasta down on the table.

“Don’t hate Lauren. This night gown cost me seventy-two dollars.” Kerry responded.

“Seventy-two dollars that you need to get back.” ShaKita cut in with a chuckle.

Kerry shook her head. “Oh so now you wanna start about my gown again too Kita?” They laughed out loud.

“You know we’re just playing. We love you old lady.” Lauren teased.

Kerry grinned as she looked at Lauren. “Being thirty-six doesn’t make me old lil girl. Just makes me two years older than you,” she responded.

“Tell that to the frock you’re wearing.” ShaKita joked then leaned in to whisper in Kerry’s ear. “Sis, I hope you weren’t wearing things like this while you were with Justin.”

Kerry frowned. “Nooooo,” she responded.

“I was just about to say-”

Kerry stopped her. “Kita, just leave it alone.” She said as the two sisters were starting to make her feel some type of way.

“Okaaaaay,” Lauren cut in. “Let’s leave her alone Kita.”

“Please do,” Kerry responded, knowing that her sisters could be relentless in teasing her and sometimes would take things too far and piss her off.

“Now, where is y’all’s other sister?” Lauren asked noticing that Bianca hadn’t made it there yet.

“She’s spending some time with Kory since tomorrow is his birthday, but she said that she was coming.” Kerry responded.

“Well I know y’all hate to hear this, but she’s probably getting wasted with him as we speak.” ShaKita stated.

Lauren disappointedly shook her head. “He wouldn’t be such a bad guy if he put his foot down with her. Anything she wants, he provides, but what he provides she definitely doesn’t need.”

“I can agree,” ShaKita said. “He’s an enabler.”

Kerry cut in. “Hell, for that matter, we’ve all been enablers. So hush.”

“Well I talk to her everyday and she sho’ ain’t changed. Still drinking and popping pills like she has no responsibilities whatsoever.” ShaKita informed them.

Kerry shook her head. “I can believe you because she never keeps her children. I spoke with mama yesterday and she said that she’d had the kids for a few days now.”

Lauren shook her head. “She ain’t lying because when I dropped off my little one all five of hers were there too.”

“That’s a damn shame. I don’t know when she’s gonna learn.” Kerry commented. “You can’t just keep dumping your kids off like that and thinking it’s cool. If she didn’t have mom and dad there I don’t know what she’d do.”

ShaKita interrupted their bashing session about Bianca. “Look we’re not gonna sit here and talk about her like she’s not our sister. I hate I even said something.”

Lauren tooted her lips. “Is that right Kita?” She asked knowing that ShaKita might’ve been the baby, but she never gave a shit about speaking her mind about any of them.

Kita grabbed a plastic cup. “I’m just saying that tonight isn’t the night for that. We should be relaxing and having a good time with each other.” She said.

“That’s what I tried to tell you earlier before Lauren got here. All up in my business about me and Justin,” Kerry chimed in.

“Okay my bad about that. Look, all I’m saying is that Bianca’s not here to defend herself yet. When she gets here and if she’s already stupid loaded then we can go in on her ass.” ShaKita responded as she fixed herself a mixed drink with Ciroc. “Who wants some?”

Kerry smiled. “I’ll take some on the rocks.”

“Not the responsible supervisor.” Lauren teased. “It’s about time you start unwinding a little.”

“She drank vodka straight from the bottle before you got here. You shoulda seen that ugly ass face she made.” ShaKita reported as she laughed.

Lauren grinned. “Don’t talk about my sister now. She’s been tryna get a lil loose since Justin’s bitch ass been gone.”

“Yes I have,” Kerry said with a smile. “I’m starting to feel good already.”

“You should be. You only have five Bud Ice’s left out of a twelve pack.”

Kerry smiled as she sat down to the kitchen table. “Let’s just say that I like to unwind after I get off of work now.”

“Ain’t nothing wrong with that Sis. You deserve it.” Lauren said thinking about all the years her sister had been a bit boring and was used for nothing but a doormat for her no good, cheating husband.

“I agree,” ShaKita commented while thinking the same thing. “I’m just glad that we’re together tonight for some sisterly quality time. Hell, I needed this.”

“You ain’t by yourself.” Lauren chimed in. “That man of mine has been working my last nerve.”

Kerry shook her head. “Can’t be working it too bad from the looks of your brand new car,” she commented.

“Don’t let the material fool you. He’s still a handful and I’m ‘bout sick of his shit. It’s been six years and he’s still making excuses about leaving his wife.”

ShaKita grinned. “So riding nice keeps you on his team, huh?”

“Hush Kita, he only brought me that car because mine was giving me so much trouble.” She explained.

“Seems like he’s the one that’s giving you trouble.” ShaKita stated. “You better be careful. His wife has already fronted on your ass before.”

“I ain’t stun his ugly ass wife.” She snapped. “She better stay outta my fucking face. If she was doing her job she wouldn’t have to worry about me.”

“Okaaaaaaaay, let’s not start this shit tonight.” Kerry cut in. “But Lauren, you know I have nothing nice to say about you messing around with a married man. It isn’t cool at all.”

“I guess not since a little young bunny stole yours.” Lauren mumbled.

Kerry frowned. “What did you say?”

“I said I’m going to put on my pj’s.” Lauren lied as she started down the hallway to the bathroom to change her clothes. She didn’t want the slumber party to turn into a straight up brawling session.

ShaKita shook her head. “Well, I’m ‘bout to fix me a plate and another drink. I came over here to have a good time and hopefully we won’t break out fighting in the process.” She grinned as she fixed her plate. “Fuck what ya heard.”

A couple of hours later the sisters were lounging around on the living room floor enjoying the soulful music playing in the background. Each one had more than their share of vodka and was fuller than ticks.

ShaKita looked over at her sisters and shook her head. “We look like the women on
Waiting to Exhale
sitting on the floor in a circle listening to music. Hell, the only thing we’re missing is a joint to puff on.” They laughed.

“If Bianca’s ass would’ve showed up we would have one.” Lauren commented. “Wonder where she’s at. It’s almost one o’clock in the morning and she won’t answer her phone. If she hadn’t showed up by now then she ain’t coming.”

“I agree,” Kerry stated. “I just don’t see why she’d leave us hanging tonight. She promised me that she would come since I hadn’t seen her in a while.”

ShaKita shook her head. “Unfortunately, she has a tendency to break promises whenever her man is in the picture.”

“Why does she stay with his pill popping ass?” Kerry questioned. “They’re always fighting and I’ve told her more than enough times that he isn’t going to change because she won’t change. I mean what is it Kita? You should know since y’all are the closest two in age.”

ShaKita frowned. “We’re all close in age Kerry. Mom had all of us two years apart. So don’t ask me what the deal is with her. You need to pay more attention to your sister. Funny how once upon a time you and her used to be the closer of the two.”

“Yeah back before you put her out your house.” Lauren added.

Kerry smacked her lips. “Come on. Don’t start that shit. I was going through a lot with Justin and his cheating. I’m sorry but Bianca wasn’t making it any easier walking around the house in booty shorts and shit. We were cool at first and things were good, but then she started smoking like a chimney ‘round the house and listening to loud indecent music in her room like the kids couldn’t hear it. Hell, I had ten children in my house. My four, Bianca’s four, Bianca and Justin.” They laughed. I even found a small sandwich bag of weed on the floor in one of the kid’s room one day.”

“Yeah you told us about that.” ShaKita nonchalantly stated. “But when I asked her about it she denied it, saying it wasn’t hers. Unlike you, I believed her.”

“Yeah well I don’t care what you believed. The heifa would get so drunk that she would piss on herself. Stammering and falling off the toilet. Don’t get me wrong; I love my sister just as y’all do and yes we used to be super close but the girl is her own worst enemy.”

Lauren shook her head. “I know you put up with a lot from Bianca. Hell, you let her live with you for almost two years. It lasted much longer than any of us thought it would.”

“I know, but none of y’all would take her in.” Kerry commented.

Lauren cut in. “That’s because she’s grown and I’d done my good deed years ago when I did let her move in with me, but I’m nobody’s babysitter; especially when I didn’t even have any kids of my own at the time. The heifa would get lost for days and then act like she hadn’t did anything wrong when she’d return. I used to feel so bad for my nieces and nephews.” Lauren disappointedly shook her head. “It’s like she didn’t care. She wouldn’t even call and check on them. I just don’t understand. She’s a pretty girl who could easily find a career with her degree, but she chooses to lounge off of us because we’ve always supported her. Even ShaKita has had a hand in helping her ass and she’s the baby.”
