Finish:

At the end, finish your last row by tying a knot in your yarn and cutting the yarn, leaving an approximately 6” tail.  You now have a whole stocking that will be folded in half and joined together.

You will join your project together with red and white yarn, so that you use white yarn on the white portion and red yarn for the red portion.

Fold the stocking together with the wrong sides facing outward and the right sides facing together.  The project will be combined using the slip stitch (Sl St).  Leave a 6” tail in your yarn before you start so that it can be woven into your project at the end.  Starting at one end of the project, put your crochet hook through one loop on each square.  Make sure you always choose the same loop on each square and each stitch.  There are two loops on the outer edge of your project.  You can choose either the front loop or the back loop, just be consistent throughout the joining of your project.  After you have put your hook through the loops, hook it around your yarn and pull the yarn through the loops, then put your hook through the next two loops and put your joining yarn through.  Continue in this manner until the entire side has been joined together, leaving the top unattached.

Turn your stocking right side out and fold the top half of the white portion down to form the cuff.  Create a loop for hanging your ornament by attaching a 6” piece of yarn to an appropriate spot on your stocking.  Then, tie a knot in your yarn and cut the yarn, leaving a tail.

Use your darning needle to weave all beginning tails and the ending tails into the project.
