Whatever else might still be wrong with me, wherever the lost parts of my broken soul are, for now at least I’m alive, can live, here with my family.
She stared over Eloryn’s shoulder, where daylight brightened the diamond cut glass window of the balcony doors. Outside a thorny vine grew around the balustrade. The silhouette of a wild young man perched on it in front of the sun. She smiled. “Besides, things never just disappear. They have to go somewhere, right?”
Eloryn’s eyes fluttered back open again. She looked both shocked and accusing. “You found out your name? When? What is it? What am I to call you now?”
Memory smiled and closed her eyes. “Memory. Just call me Memory.”

Acknowledgements
I found an email from 2003 where a fan asked me why I removed all mention of “Memory’s Wake” from my website. I replied it was because I didn’t think it would ever be finished.
It lay untouched for a long time, poked at here and there, changed through many versions, and was finally completed in 2011. I have a lot of people to thank for helping it get there.
From the very beginning, I’d like to thank my obssession with comics and desire to create my own, for which the first ideas for this story started to form. I have to thank John Noble, who is dearly missed, for introducing me to the magic of fantasy role-playing games (Dungeons and Dragons V.2 to be specific). The adventure, the danger, and the most magical part of role-playing - the story telling.
I want to thank Steven Withrow, who helped my earliest concept form into something more substantial. He also gave Memory her name, and is still a master artist with words.
Dear thanks to my editor Sally Odgers, who provided encouragement along with the technical refinement I needed.
My thanks go to all my friends from the old forums of www.australianfantasyart.com who read through my first, short version of Memory’s Wake, and cheered me on despite how rubbish it was. Born in 1981 to Australian and Maltese parents, Selina lives in Australia with her husband, her baby girl, an unnamed cat, and a lorikeet who's far too clever.
During her life Selina has found ancient Roman treasure, survived cancer, had knights joust at her wedding, been mugged for doughnuts, made a living as an artist, eaten every bizarre and wonderful food put in front of her, and now enjoys writing novels.
