“No, I … I stopped going to school when I was fifteen.”

There was that age again. Fifteen. It was the age those scars happened, the age everything changed for Samuel.

“That’s when you came out of care, right?”

“Yes.” Samuel put down his sandwich and played with his hair. “That was when everything changed.”

Daniel shifted over to him, turning Samuel to face him. “What happened?”

“All I remember is walking home from school one afternoon. Some man in a big car pulls over and says he’s from Social Services. He looked the part and told me the lady I was staying with had been taken ill suddenly, and I was going back to the children’s home I left a few months earlier.” Samuel paused, lost in his thoughts for a few moments. “I was fifteen when I was taken… and seventeen when I escaped.”

“You were kidnapped?” Daniel was stunned. He thought a foster parent had abused him and hurt him, but this…“And no one noticed? No one did anything?”

“I’m sure they did. I’m sure someone looked for me, but… When I said things like that, they would tell me I was just another runaway who got lost in the big city. No one wanted me, no one cared. I had no family, no close friends. Who would bother to keep looking?”

“Samuel, I know this is difficult for you, and I don’t want to push you for more than you’re willing to share, but if I could find out more information about before they took you. Just find your records, see if the police found anything out about who took you, it would help, Sweetheart.”

“What do you need?”

Daniel cupped Samuel’s chin in his hand, tracing the outline of his face with his fingertip. “Your surname would be a good starting point. Some names of the places you stayed. Anything you can give me.” Daniel stared into Samuel’s wary eyes, not sure if he’d asked too much too soon.

“It’s Tate, Samuel Tate. My father was called Neil and my mum was called Elizabeth. If you get me a pen and paper, I’ll write down what I can remember. I don’t know addresses, not even surnames. I remember my social worker was called Helen Moody because she was really moody.” Samuel grinned at him.

“Just give me what you can. Milo is visiting tonight. I know, don’t look at me like that. I’ll set up the TV in your room and stock it full of sweets and chocolate so we can talk down here without bothering you.” Daniel passed him a pad and pen, then sat back, eating his sandwich and watching Samuel’s neat writing spilling onto the page, too impatient to wait to see what he was writing, and reading it as he got it down. “You last lived in North London, near a big park. Finsbury Park?”

“I don’t know its name. I’d know it by looking at it. I used to walk past it on the way home. He took me just after I passed it.” Samuel stopped writing and just sat still.

Daniel put his plate on the table and pulled him onto his thighs again. “I can’t imagine how scared you were, and I know talking about it will make you feel those dark emotions again, but I’m here this time. You’re not alone, and you’re not with them, you’re safe here. You’re so brave. I’m really proud of you.”

“You might not be later.” Samuel played with the neck of Daniel’s t-shirt before running his fingertip over his collar bone. “They made me do a lot of things I’m not proud of.”

“See, right there is why no matter what you tell me about what happened while they had you won’t change how I see you. They
made
you do those things. You’re not at fault. You did whatever you did because you had no choice. You should be proud you survived, that you got away. You’re strong, Samuel. So strong. I don’t know if I could have gone through what you did and still be here, still be smiling and cooking bacon sandwiches.” Daniel smiled when Samuel looked into his eyes, a softer look filling them.

“I’ve never really had friends before, but I want you to be one, Daniel.”

“I am one. One you can trust to be there no matter what.”

“I like you.” Samuel ran his nail around Daniel’s collar thoughtfully, watching as he moved it up his throat.

“I like you too.” Daniel gripped Samuel’s hip, stopping himself from running his fingers through his hair and pulling him to him.

“But… I
really
like you, Daniel.”

Samuel’s gaze met Daniel’s and they both sat staring at each other. Daniel froze, his mind running a million miles an hour and his heart going into cardiac arrest as Samuel dipped his head and pressed his lips against Daniel’s.

“Uh no.” Daniel quickly shifted Samuel off his thighs and stood up. The small contact had his cock semi-hard and his sex drive went into overdrive. “We can’t do this.”

Samuel held his hand over his mouth, tears filling his big eyes. “I’m sorry. I just… I thought you wanted me.”

“And what did you want?”

“To make you happy.”

“See, that’s not right, Samuel. If you kiss someone, it’s because you want them, because you feel something or want something from them, to please
you
. It’s not about just making me happy. When you say you like me, what do you mean?”

“I don’t know.” Samuel wiped his eyes, not looking at Daniel. “I like you a lot.”

“And I like you a lot. I like you too much.” Daniel knelt down, holding Samuel and rocking him in his arms. “I thought you weren’t gay, you said so. You’re confused. There’s too much going on right now for you to know what you want. Don’t be sad. I’m not mad at you. I liked you kissing me.” Daniel wiped the tears from Samuel’s cheeks and kissed his lips quickly.

“I’ve never liked anyone I’ve been touched by, never wanted them to touch me. You’re the first person who I want next to me. I’ve never… I’ve never chosen to be with anyone before. I don’t know what I want, because I was never given a choice about it. They were mainly men, but I didn’t feel anything for them, I never enjoyed it. I don’t know what that makes me.” Samuel turned away and took a few deep breaths.

“It makes you a human being who deserves to be with someone who he desires, who he feels for. Jesus, Samuel.” Daniel bent his head, burying his face in the blond hair and hiding his tears. He was so fucking mad, so filled with pain for what Samuel had been through. How many men had used him, raped him? “I'm so sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry for me. Be happy I'm here, because I am.” Samuel lifted Daniel’s head off his shoulder and wiped his tears away. “I’m glad I met you, Daniel Harris, and I always will be. I just hope you feel the same way when they come for me.”

“They might not come.”

“They will. They always do.”

Chapter
10

M
ilo found Daniel sitting in the kitchen when he got there at eight thirty. He’d changed from his uniform at the station and was wearing something tight to catch Daniel’s eye. He ran his sweaty palms over the back of his jeans then closed the door.

“Hey.” Milo ran his hand over Daniel’s shoulder as he walked past him to grab a beer from the fridge. “Bad afternoon, huh?”

“Yeah. He told me some stuff.” Daniel held his head in his hands, rubbing his temples. “Bad stuff, Milo.”

“You thought maybe it was going to be flowers and funfairs?” Milo sat in front of him, kicking his feet up on the chair beside him and drinking half of his cold beer before he looked at him again. “You get any details we can actually use to help him out?”

“I got his surname. It’s Tate. Samuel Tate.”

Milo took out his mobile, flicking through the names until he found who he was looking for. “Terry, it’s Milo Barnes. I got a name for our pretty boy. Samuel Tate.” Daniel was sliding over a writing pad and Milo quickly scanned it. “I got the parent’s names too. Elizabeth and Neil Tate, last known address for the family home was in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. This kid should be all over Social Services records, check out a person called Helen Moody. She would have worked in the North London area around three years ago. He will have been reported missing around three years ago, same area.”

Milo paused, listening as Terry typed up the information then read it back to him. “I’ll be back in tomorrow morning to check up on the findings. Call me on here if you get anything in the next couple of hours, though I doubt it will be that easy.” Milo swiped his phone off then drank the rest of his beer.

Daniel was playing with the rim of his tea cup, lost in his own thoughts. Milo reached over and took his hand in his. “What did you expect, Danny? You saw the scars, saw the fear in his eyes, how he acted. What did you think had happened to him?”

“I thought maybe he’d been abused by someone, even raped, but… Even before all that shit, he went through so much. He lost his parents, and the only other family he had died not long before leaving him in the care system. That in itself is a really shitty childhood, but it got worse.” Daniel lifted his head up, holding onto Milo’s hand tighter. “He said he was taken by a man, he was kept somewhere for two years. It sounded like he was used as a prostitute. One man abusing him was bad enough, but to think of what he’s gone through in those two years, the men he’s been forced to be with. It’s far worse than I thought it would be.”

Milo didn’t mean to be cruel or cold, but he’d been in the force for too many years for this to shock him like it was doing to Daniel. Child prostitution rings were everywhere. No matter what they did, more sprung up. Young girls and boys would be brought in from other countries, taken from their homes, groomed to think they wanted to do it, forced to get high on drugs. Daniel didn’t know what Milo did.

“Danny…” Milo took his hand away and got up, heading to the fridge for his second bottle of beer.

“You’re not shocked. You knew?”

“No, but I had my suspicions after reading his medical files. It could have been a case of child abuse, but how he looks…” Milo snapped the top off his beer and drank a big mouthful. “I'm not blind, he’s stunning. Unique. You take someone like him, train him, he’d be a big money earner. The scars are old, they will have happened when he was first taken, while they were teaching him. After that, after he knew his place, he will have been an asset and taken care of. The better he looks, the more money they make from him.” Milo frowned when he saw Daniel’s cold stare. “Look, I'm being blunt, but I'm honest. That’s the truth, Daniel. They see these kids as an asset, as things to make money off. Nothing more.”

“Is he still a suspect in the arson case?”

“He’s someone we’re interested in keeping a watchful eye on, let’s say. He’s not being taken off the list, but your account of the door, and how hard it was to open, that helped his case a lot. All this will help clear him too. We need to know what happened the night of the fire. I want this closed and off my desk. If it is the guys who took him who set the fire, then I can pass this shit over to CID and let them deal with it.”

“You don’t want to help him, do you?”

“I do, Danny. But I can’t, I can’t be involved in this investigation like I would be if you weren’t so heavily involved with it. I have to be neutral and right now, I'm biased. Our relationship isn’t doing us any favours in this. I’d rather clear him from the fire, and work on the outskirts of this one. I’d still pull any strings I could do, hurry things through. But I can’t head this investigation. I’d be compromised, and the guys who took him, if they’re caught, they’ll have money for good solicitors. They’d use anything and everything to keep themselves out of prison. I don’t want to be one of those reasons, and I don’t want you to be one either.”

“I’m glad you want to help him.”

“Jesus, Danny, why do you think I'm in this job? The good hours and the low stress?” Milo rolled his eyes and got a smile out of Daniel at last. “I don’t just do this because I make the uniform looking fucking good. I'm here to help people. People like Samuel. Like you. I honestly wonder if you know me at all sometimes.” Milo played with the label on his bottle.

“I know you care, Milo.” Daniel ran his fingers through his hair then gripped it tightly while he blew out a deep breath. “You still hide a lot from me, from most people. Maybe you’re right, sometimes I feel like I don’t really know you. That’s not my problem, and I think you know that. You don’t open up, don’t trust. I don’t know why. I trust you with my life. Share everything. I'm like an open book around you. It’s not really asking too much for you to give me something similar back, is it?”

“No.” Milo took a long drink of his beer then leant his head back and sighed. “I try, Danny. It’s just not easy for me. I’m not talkative, or open. I’ll never be the type of person to sit down and have a heart to heart. I’m blunt, straight to the point. I’m always honest with you, about most things anyway.”

They fell into a silence while they both drank their beers, not really looking at each other, just quick glances every now and then.

“Can we talk about us now?”

Daniel met his eyes and sighed. “I thought I said no, like three times or something already.”

“I'm not letting you go.” Milo stared firmly into his eyes. “There’s something special between us, Daniel. It’s not just sex either.” Milo tapped his fingers on the table.

“No, it’s not. I love you and you love the job.”

“You love what you do too. That gorgeous thing sleeping upstairs is proof of how much you care about what you do.”

“That’s the fourth time you’ve referred to him like that. Pretty, beautiful, gorgeous.” Daniel smiled slyly.

“Well, I’d be lying if I said otherwise.”

“I can’t remember the last time you called me any of those things.” He tilted his head to the side and gave Milo a cheeky grin.

“Oh, you’re fishing for a compliment?” Milo winked at him and got a laugh in return. “You know I think you’re the sexiest thing I’ll ever see. You’re perfect. Beautiful. Stunning. Divine… I’m running out of words.”

“You need a dictionary. Go get one and come back later with more words to woo me with.”

“Woo? What are you? Some sixteenth century virginal damsel or something?” Milo opened his eyes wide and shook his head, listening to Daniel laugh loudly. Milo stood up, moving to his side and running his hand over Daniel’s head. Every little touch was like torture for him. “I’ve missed you.”

“You’ve missed fucking me.”

“Of course I have.” Milo leaned down, fisting his hand in Daniel’s hair and pulling his head back so he could see those green eyes and that firm mouth which was calling to him for a kiss.

“There’s other men you can use for sex. I don’t want to be one of those anymore.”

“You were never one of those, Danny.” Milo ran his finger down Daniel’s jaw. “You’ve always being more to me.” Milo lifted his leg, straddling Daniel’s thighs, and hovered above him, holding his chin firmly and staring into those sexy eyes.

“There’s always been others. It doesn’t work with just us two.”

“You’re enough for me. It’s you who needs more, Baby.” Milo smiled at the anger in Daniel’s eyes, and then kissed him—a deep, hard kiss which could only lead to more.

Their mouths parted, Daniel moaning as Milo slipped his tongue inside him, teasing him with soft caresses until he plunged deeply into his mouth, fighting with Daniel’s tongue as their bodies began to grind together in that perfect dance. Both were so in tune to the other, both knowing just what to give to drive the other insane with desire.

“I need you, Danny. You can feel how much I need you.” Milo pressed the ridge of his swollen cock against Daniel’s, both groaning as their lengths rubbed against each other. “What I need, I can only get from you. You’re the only one on my mind. Even when I'm alone, you’re the one I see, who I hear with me, who I feel under me, over me, against me. It’s just you, Daniel. It has been for three years. There’s no one else.”

Daniel’s hands were in Milo’s hair, clinging onto him tightly and forcing their mouths to collide again, his hips raising up and crushing their cocks against each other. They were both breathing too fast, their bodies crying out for more when Milo lifted from Daniel’s swollen lips.

“You don’t have to lie to me.” Daniel moaned as Milo worked his hand over his cock, the sweatpants he wore tenting over his length.

“I’m not lying.”

Daniel’s eyes focused more on him, the truth finally seeping through that thick skull of his. “Milo…”

Milo fisted his hand tighter in Daniel’s hair. Seeing him like this turned him on too much. “Tell me what you want.”

Daniel paused, but his body rose up to Milo’s, begging for what it needed before he could say the words. “I need you inside me.”

Those words made Milo’s already stiff cock grow harder, pressing against the zipper of his jeans and hurting him. “I need these off. They’re killing me.”

Daniel pressed his palm against the rough material covering Milo’s cock and rubbed him gently, making Milo growl. He pulled Daniel’s mouth back to his, claiming those lips as his own, biting and sucking them until Daniel pulled away, his hand grabbing Milo’s cock over his jeans.

“Bend me over here. Right now. I need to feel you fucking me.” Daniel’s dazed look and sultry sound to his voice didn’t give Milo a choice. It was happening.

“Get up.” He launched Daniel to his feet, fingers fumbling as he freed the slacks down to Daniel’s hips. He had them and his shorts down and his own cock pulled free as he spun Daniel around, holding the back of his neck and pushing him over the kitchen table. “Where are they?”

“Second drawer.” Daniel nodded to his left and Milo reached over, grabbing the tube of lube and condom, ripping the packet open and sliding it over his length as he shuddered from his own touch. He coated his desperate cock with lube as he looked at Daniel. “You look so good. So hard and big.”

“I am big, Baby. You’re going to feel this for a while.” Milo ran his finger over Daniel’s hole, teasing them both with his touches before he pushed his finger inside the tight ring. Daniel moaned so deliciously for him, his body accepting what Milo gave him and begging for more. He only took the time to press two fingers inside him a couple of times before his head was pressed against his opening and fighting its way inside.

“That’s it, Milo.” Daniel looked over his shoulder, Milo’s hand tightening around his neck as he felt the hot, tight heat of his flesh surrounding his swollen head. “Fuck!”

“Yeah.” Milo grunted as he pushed through into his body, both of them groaning as Daniel’s body took Milo’s cock for the first time in four weeks. “You’re so tight, Baby. You want to feel it, don’t you? You need to feel my cock stretching this tight, little hole wide open.”

“Do it! Fuck it!”

Milo slammed into him, filling Daniel to the hilt and pressing his heavy balls up against his cheeks. “Argh fuck, Danny.” He could feel Daniel tensing around him, his hole clenching against his long, thick length.

“That’s it. Keep it deep and fuck me hard.” Daniel rocked back on him, crushing Milo’s balls against his cheeks and riding his cock, keeping it deep inside him where he liked it the most.

“Hold on to the other side of the table and brace yourself for me.” Milo watched Daniel shakily stretch his arms over the table, wrapping his fingers over the edge and holding on tightly. “That’s it.” Milo grabbed Daniel’s hips in both his hands, holding him exactly where he wanted him to be, then pulled his cock from the hot flesh surrounding him, pausing with his round head at his hole, watching Daniel’s skin stretch around his wide rim. Listening to his soft moans for more. “You love this, don’t you?” Milo fucked his opening, watching his head leave and enter his tight body. “Feeling so full, so open. Beg me for more, Danny.”

Milo pulled his cock from Daniel’s body, running his fingers around his hole before plunging three fingers inside him and twisting them as he listened to Daniel lose his mind underneath him, begging for his cock back inside him and calling his name out through heavy pants of air.

Milo couldn’t take it anymore. His cock was leaking, jerking against his stomach. He plunged back into the tight hole, slamming his hips as hard as he could into Daniel’s arse and fucking him rough and fast.
