I live in a small rural town in the southwest of Western Australia with my husband and gorgeous American Staffy Charlie. It’s my own piece of paradise—quiet and tranquil. The only noise to be heard at night is the local kangaroo population bouncing past. We are not quite “empty nesters,” but close to it: My son comes home every few weekends to raid the pantry and to get some home-cooked meals.

One of my great passions is reading. It’s a recent one, but one that I’ve pursued in overdrive. Just ask anybody here and they will tell you that I can generally be found with my nose in a book.

Why did I decide to start writing, you ask…well let me think about that. Thinking—that’s exactly how it started—with thinking. I would average reading one book a day and while driving back and forth, as all moms are prone to do; my head was filled with phrases and dialogue. Not necessarily from what I had read, but more like random thoughts. Nothing made any sense, but I started to write down what I could remember and the ideas grew from there. My next project is buying a personal voice recorder so I don’t miss anything.
