There were other times when the world and the
noise got too much, and he just looked at Grace, his anchor, and
his life. She would come to him, touch him, and nothing else in the
world mattered.

He loved Grace, her mind, that part of her
that could be an introvert, but she faced her anxieties and did
great things, not just for their lives, but for others. He loved
her way with Seth, with their son, and with his mother, and he
loved that she could laugh at herself, at life sometimes, and he
loved the way she argued so passionately, it never failed to stir
him. He loved Grace not just with an artist eye that was still
intrigued by her, but with a man’s heart that found everything, he
needed in her to feel whole. He loved those silver lines on her
breasts and hips she’d at first tried to hide. He always kissed
them, knowing she’d gotten them carrying his son. He loved the
laugh lines at the corner of her eyes, the tiny frown ones on her
brow. He loved the way Grace always taught him something new about
love, without even being aware of it.

Coming out of his thoughts Noel noticed that
Grace was awake and had her head propped on her elbow. She was
smiling slightly at him.

He put his brushes aside and moved the easel,
coming to sit on the edge of the bed as she lay back, gazing up at
him, he slid his hand to her cheek, up through the soft strands of
her hair. The sun was rising and bathing the room from arches of
light in the window.

"I dreamed of you," she murmured and caressed
his forearm. "I dreamed you were standing barefoot in a meadow and
you were painting the most beautiful sky....your brush created an
amazing azure heaven."

His lips pulled into a smile and he eyed the
wonder in her gaze. Noel shook his head with his own sense of
amazement, "I don't have to paint it to feel it. You create that
wonder in me, Grace, every day you've been in my life."
