“What’s that? We spending the night here?” Kelsey asked.

A cold smile played on his lips. “It’s my bag of toys. We’re going to have a real good time, Kelsey. And if you do well, I’ll give you a bonus. For the next three hours, you’re mine. You do what I tell you, and you’ll be fine. If you don’t, you’ll be punished. Do you understand?”

“I guess. Are you into that bondage shit?”

“Yeah, and a lot more.”

“I’m okay with it as long as you don’t get too rough.”

“No promises.” He unzipped the bag and took out a paper towel, a spoon, a lighter, a syringe, and a baggie of white powder. “You want some?” He waved the baggie in front of her face.

Licking her lips, Kelsey’s eyes lit up and she nodded. “I’ve never injected.”

“You’ve been missing out. I can show you how good it’ll make you feel.” He poured a small amount onto the spoon and lit the lighter underneath it. “You’re gonna love the rush.”

Three hours later, he untied Kelsey’s hands and feet. She’d been trussed up like a hog, and the angry red marks on her ass and back made him go tight in his pants. She lay still on the mattress marked with her blood and his semen. “Our time is up.” He placed the ropes, wrist and ankle cuffs, collar, and paddle in his bag. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the leather crop he’d used earlier on Kelsey’s clit. It was his favorite way of disciplining a bitch, and when he was whipping her clit, making it red and swollen, he was punishing Kylie for fucking the goddamned Insurgent.

Flexing his wrist, he flicked the crop against her reddened ass cheeks. “I said, let’s go.” Kelsey groaned and turned over, grimacing as she pushed herself off the bed. He’d placed her clothes next to her, and she slowly dressed. Under his breath, he chuckled, his dick growing hard once more just thinking of all the things he was going to do to his Kylie when her time came. And it would be soon. He had to have her.

“You got anymore crystal?” Kelsey asked as she walked stiffly toward him.

“You had enough. Next time, I’ll give you more.”

The guy opened the door and walked out without a backward glance at Kelsey. Once she got in the car, she sat sideways, and he figured it was because her ass was too sore. He fucking loved that.

“Here we are,” he said as his car idled in front of her trailer. The purple Corvette was locked away in a storage unit, since fucking Ricky had managed to live. He didn’t have a choice, so now he was driving a sensible Buick. He ought to seek out the little shit and finish off what he’d started.

He leaned over and pulled her to him by the hair. She yelped and he covered her mouth with his. She moaned softly, pressing closer to him. Bitches were all the same. They’d tell a guy they didn’t want to do the hard shit, but then they ended up fucking loving it. It happened all the time to him. Cunts were so predictable.

“Don’t tell your brother we’re going out.”

“Why?”

He twisted his hand in her hair and yanked it until her eyes teared and a painful whimper emitted from her throat. “Don’t fucking question me. Just don’t tell him shit about us.”

“Okay,” she gasped.

“You can go now.” He shoved her back toward the door. She slowly slid out of the car, groaning as she moved her legs.

“What about the money you promised me?”

He opened his wallet and took out four one-hundred-dollar bills. “Three hundred for the fucking, and one hundred for having such a great ass.” He threw the money on the ground. “Close the door.” She complied.

As he was leaving, he glanced in the rearview mirror and saw her struggling to bend down to pick up the bills before they blew away.
What a dirty slut.
If the Insurgent weren’t her brother, he wouldn’t even spit on her. While he banged her rough, each time he came, he saw Kylie’s pretty face. He needed her badly, and he couldn’t wait much longer.

Chapter Twenty-Five

K
ylie was full
of sadness, as every other emotion was pushed away. Where there once was passion, laughter, and light, it was now just an aching emptiness. When Jerry had told her he didn’t want to be with her anymore, her heart had broken into tiny pieces, and she’d had to leave before she broke down in front of him. She’d wanted to wrap her arms around him and beg him to stay with her, but he’d made it clear he was bored of her already. What they had hadn’t even lasted the whole summer, only seventy-two days—nothing more than a blink of an eye in a person’s life.

She pulled her knees closer to her as she sat on the front porch, watching summer unfold. Her dad was right—Jerry was nothing but a macho, asshole man-whore. She was well rid of him, and she shouldn’t have ever let her feelings get the better of her. From the beginning, she knew becoming involved with him was a risk, but deep down, she’d hoped he would’ve fallen for her, realizing she was the only one for him. But he hadn’t. He’d had his fun, and now was bored with her inexperienced fumbles when they screwed.

How could he leave me when we had a connection stronger than anything we’d ever felt before with anyone? How am I going to survive the summer before school starts?
She’d made up her mind that she wouldn’t go to the clubhouse for the rest of the summer and would limit family gatherings with the club.

The glass tabletop rumbled softly, and she looked at her phone’s screen as it started blinking.

Ricky:
Just touching base re this weekend. We still good?

She’d forgotten he was coming this weekend. At that moment, though, she was grateful he’d insisted on coming to see her.

Kylie:
Yes! Can’t wait. When u coming?

Ricky:
Friday good? I’ll b @ ur house @ 6. Good?

Kylie:
Perfect. See u in a couple days.

She smiled weakly, wishing she were happier about Ricky’s visit, but the heartache over losing Jerry was crushing. Ever since he’d thrown her aside, she’d shed so many tears until no more would come. Her insides were raw as though a winter wind blew right through her skin. The last conversation they’d had mocked her, replaying like an echo. Even though she put on a brave face for her father and friends, and told herself she was better without him, her world crumbled inside her. She craved his touch as she lay alone in her bed, swearing she could smell his familiar clean scent.

Maybe Ricky would be the diversion she needed to put everything in perspective. She’d have to snap out of it, because lamenting over what could have been didn’t mean shit. Jerry obviously didn’t share the same feelings for her as she did about him. It was over, time to move on. The way he had Wendy in his lap, her breasts jammed against him, told Kylie that he’d already moved on just fine.

She sighed and wrapped her arms tighter around her knees as she stared out at nothingness.

Since Ricky arrived
the day before, Kylie had been having a great time. She’d been so busy showing him around the area that she didn’t have time to obsess over Jerry until the moments when she was in her room, surrounded by darkness and moonlight. It was at those times when she missed him the most. Since they’d had their talk, she hadn’t heard from him, and it hurt her that he hadn’t even reached out to ask how she was doing. He turned out to be a typical biker asshole—the ones her father had warned her about since as far back as she could remember.

Ricky was staying in one of the guest rooms at her house. Banger and Belle had Baylee design a huge house, so there was always plenty of room.

Running down the stairs, Kylie swung open the front door and rushed to Ricky’s car. “Sorry I’m late. I was just finishing up sending a résumé to another job application. I can’t believe what a hard time I’m having getting a damn job. You’re lucky you can work for your dad’s accounting firm. If I work with my dad, I’d be covered in grease.” She pulled on her sunglasses.

“I thought you had your heart set on the Wildlife Preserve job?”

“I did, but it’s full-time, and I don’t want to take it then quit in a couple of months.”

“What job did you apply for now?”

“It’s sounds very intriguing. It showed up in my e-mail with a few other postings. It still works with wildlife, but it’s a small non-profit that brings the injured animals back to health and reintroduces them to the wild. I’ve never heard of it before, but I’m definitely curious. And the best part is that it’s a summer job. It’d be perfect. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”

Ricky placed his hand on Kylie’s bare thigh. “I’m sure you’ll get the job. You’re just too damn enthusiastic not to.”

She laughed and shifted in her seat, and Ricky slowly slid his hand away.

After the afternoon movie, they hung out at the mall for a while. Kylie helped Ricky pick out some souvenirs for his parents and siblings. When they walked out of the T-shirt store, Kylie bumped into Marcus. Surprised, she said, “What’re you doing here?”

Marcus glanced at Ricky. “Same thing you are. Shopping.”

“Yeah, that’s right. You live here.”

He nodded. “What are you doing with
him
?”

Before Kylie could answer, Ricky put a protective arm around her. “Are you following Kylie? You need to back off and leave her alone. Just because you were in the same class together doesn’t mean you’re friends.”

Kylie shivered when she saw the coldness in Marcus’s gaze. He turned from her and stared at Ricky. “It’s too
fucking
bad they found you alive.” Then he whirled around and marched away.

“Shit. I can’t believe he just said that.” Kylie looked after Marcus, but he’d disappeared into the crowd. She scanned the area and spotted Axe, who quickly slipped away. She narrowed her eyes. Axe was watching her, which meant only one thing—her dad put a tail on her.

“That asshole better never come near you again, or I’ll beat his ass.” Ricky’s face was flushed and his nostrils flared.

She gave him a quick hug. “Thanks for standing up to him. The guy definitely gives me the creeps. I wish he’d just go away. I’m pretty sure he’s going to learn soon not to mess with me, since one of the brothers is tailing us. I guess my dad wants to make sure the weirdo in the purple Corvette doesn’t try anything with me. Most likely, Axe has been tailing me since I got home from school or shortly after—”

She stopped mid-sentence, shame and fear crawling down her back.
Axe must’ve seen all the times I went to Jerry’s to spend the night. Dad’s going to find out that all the times I said I was going to Margo’s or Ginny’s house, I was lying out my ass. Shit.

“You okay, Kylie? You look real pale. Do you need to sit down somewhere?”

“I’m good. I’m just hungry.”

“Let’s go eat then. I’m hungry too.”

For a few minutes, she stood frozen, letting the weight of the situation sink in, mortification spreading through her. She didn’t want her dad knowing all
that
. Learning she was seeing Jerry was something she had planned on dealing with if they would’ve stuck together, but finding out about her overnight visits was something she never would’ve shared with her dad.

“You sure you’re good?”

Kylie leaned against him and nodded. The tightness of his arm around her brought her out of her daze. She looked up and smiled at him while gently pulling out of his hold. “Let’s get something to eat,” she said, wincing at his disappointed look.

When the hostess showed them to their table at Burgers & Beer Joint, they walked past Jerry, Throttle, Rock, Rags, and Hoss, who were seated nearby. Seeing Jerry made her heart race, but she kept her chin up high as she went by their table.

“Hey, Kylie,” Throttle said. “Who’s your friend?”

From the tone of his voice, she knew he was ribbing Jerry, and she took a perverse pleasure from it. She stopped by him. “Hey. My friend Ricky is visiting from Denver. We just saw a movie at the mall. What kind of burger did you order?” She felt Jerry’s eyes boring into her, but she didn’t glance at him once.

“Plain. I’m a simple guy.”

“Simple in the head,” Rock said, and the other two brothers guffawed.

“Fuck off.” Throttle looked at Ricky. “You having a good time with Kylie?”

Kylie bristled. She’d known Throttle longer than she knew Hawk, and he could be a real asshole. Taunting laced his voice, and she didn’t want Ricky to be the butt end of one of his stupid jokes. “He is. We gotta go. Later.” She tugged Ricky by the hand and they settled down at their table.

“Are those some of the guys in your dad’s club?” Ricky looked over her shoulder at them.

“Yeah. The Insurgents own this restaurant, and there’re always a few of them eating or drinking here.”

“Wasn’t one of the guys the one who I met at the spring festival?”

Her heart squeezed. “Uh-huh. What looks good to you on the menu?”

“I haven’t looked yet. Just so you know, he’s giving me some sort of death glare.” He laughed nervously.

“Ignore him. He’s a jerk.” The words came out harsher than she intended.

“It’s hard to do, since he hasn’t taken his eyes off our table since we sat down. When you were talking to the older dude, he kept staring at you. I noticed you dissed him. You two fighting?”
