I
wake up to my alarm. Its six thirty, and Kyle is still lying next to me. I carefully ease out of bed, trying not to wake him. I need to be into work early. I turn the shower on and undress. The steaming water feels unbelievable, melting my muscles into goo. I begin to lather my body and a pair of hands suddenly touches my back. I jump and then smile.

Morning,

Kyle whispers.

I turn around to greet him.

Good morning,

I reply. The water leaves shiny droplets glistening on his skin. He

s beautiful. I look down. He

s also very,
very
awake.

Turn around. Give me the shampoo,

Kyle orders. I comply.

He runs the shampoo through my hair, massaging it in, and then rinses it out. He does the same with the conditioner. He turns me around, eyes drunk with lust, and smashes his lips on mine. I stroke him as he touches me. He enters me and arouses me until he drives me over the edge. My body quivers against him, but he doesn

t stop there. He falls down to his knees, water dripping down his face, and glides his tongue over my already throbbing bud.

My legs shake, wanting to give up. He lifts my thigh over his shoulder, giving my legs a break, and gains greater access. The things he can do with his tongue are inconceivable. In a matter of minutes, he has me screaming. An orgasmic tide rushes over me like a tsunami, and I am pushed over the edge by his magical tongue.

I think I just died and went to heaven,

I declare.

He stands up, proud of his accomplishment.

Then my work is done.

He shuts off the water, grabs a towel, and holds it up for me. He

s so thoughtful. I don

t even think a man my age would do this. It

s definitely the little things that make a difference.

He wraps the towel around me.

That was the best shower I

ve ever had,

I say.

He laughs and responds,

Now I don

t have to take one at home. I just need to stop there to change.

How am I going to concentrate at work today?

I say with a smile.

After drying himself off, he wraps the towel around his lower half and heads to the bed to gather his clothes.

That was the whole point of this. So you could concentrate at work.

He winks and puts on his boxers and then his pants.

No. You

ve just created a monster. I might just have to lock you in my office so we can play boss and bad employee. I might just have to reprimand you for your very bad actions,

I tease. I wink at him while putting on my makeup.

You

re killing me, woman,

Kyle says with his hand over his heart, pretending to hurt.

You just might end up being my addiction. I

m going to need AA after you.

I giggle. He is just so adorable.

Just as long as you don

t become a stalker when I

m done with you,

I joke. His face drops. I don

t think he really liked that joke too much. I step toward him to give him a kiss.

Hey, that was a joke.

I know. I just don

t want to think of that day.

He puts his arms around me and draws me in.

Then let

s not. Now go home and change so you can pick us up some coffee,

I direct.

Oooh, I like when you get all bossy on me,

he plays.

I push him away, laughing.

Go.

He throws on his shirt and jacket, blows me a kiss, and heads out the door. This whole thing is just so crazy. No matter how much I want to tell myself to stop, because this can only end badly, I just can

t. I don

t want to. Eventually, he

ll move on anyways. We can

t do this forever.

CHAPTER NINETEEN

Kyle

I get to my apartment, and I decide to beat my mother to the punch. I dial her number while changing my clothes.

Morning, Ma,

I greet her.

Oh, wow. Isn

t this a pleasant surprise? You

re up early.

Yeah, I set my alarm clock wrong and couldn

t go back to sleep,

I lie.

I

m stopping at DD; did you want me to grab something for you?

Well, yes. That would be great! I can get to the office early. Do you
—”

Yes, Mom. I already know what you like. You haven

t changed your coffee preference in twenty-four years,

I say sarcastically. I grab my wallet and throw on my watch.

She chuckles.

I guess you

re right. Okay, see you in a bit.

She hangs up. I spray on my cologne with a smile because I know Max loves this scent. She told me the first time she walked by me she almost wet her panties right then and there. That

s the image in my head now every time I see or hear the name Versace.

I walk into work with a to-go tray full of coffee and a box of glazed donuts.

Good morning, Elise. Would you like a doughnut?

I put down the coffees and open the box.

She looks unsure. I know it

s just because she

s shy.

Um, sure. Thanks,

she says with her quiet, soft voice.

You are
so
welcome!

I reply.

She buzzes me in since my hands are full. I go to my mother

s office first, and then I head over to Max

s. This time she

s alone. This most definitely brings a smile to my face.

She looks up from her work when I walk in. A smile beams across her face.

Hey, stranger. Oooh, you brought doughnuts too? Yum! After this morning, I am starving.

Yeah, I seem to do that to the ladies.

She gives me a disgusted look.

Oh, boy. I

m so glad to be grouped with your little flings.

Hey, I was just getting practice in for the main event.

I crack a half-grin, hoping she will as well.

She huffs.

Being a comedian just isn

t your thing. I suggest you shut up before you get no ass tonight,

she threatens.

I put my hands up in the air in surrender.

Okay, okay. I

m shutting my mouth up now!

I zip my lips with my hand and throw away the key. She laughs. Thank God!

So tonight, huh?

Yup. I figure your place so you can cook that chicken parmesan for me,

she answers with a cute smirk.

You got it,

I tell her and blow her a kiss.

I head to my desk, but my father stops me on the way.

Kyle, I made reservations for seven. Your mom wants to have a family dinner. We haven

t all been together in a while, so I expect you to be there,

he informs me.

What the hell? A family dinner, now? Being in the same vicinity with Junior is not what I call a great night. I

d rather go to the dentist.

Dad? I, uh, have plans already.

He waves me off.

Cancel them. Be at Stella

s by seven sharp.

He walks away.

I hate when he does that

acts like I

m one of his employees instead of his son. I don

t ever expect special treatment in the office, but when it comes to family get-togethers, he should at least consider my feelings.

I slam my butt down on my chair and clock in. I

m pissed. This is just bullshit! Fuck this! I stand up and storm calmly into my mother

s office and shut the door. She

s on the phone, nothing unusual. I wait while pacing back and forth until she hangs up.

What

s the matter, sweetie?

she questions, concerned as she watches me walk back and forth.

I stop to face her.

Why the hell does Dad have to be such an asshole? I mean,
God!
He is always doing this to me!

I screech quietly.

Doing what, Kyle?

I finally sit. She just waits for me to speak as she always does.

Treating me as though my voice doesn

t matter. He listens and respects Junior, but me

he just acts like my words don

t mean a thing. I tell him I have plans tonight, and he just brushes them off as no big deal. As though what I have going on in my life doesn

t matter!

I say.

She walks around her desk to sit on the edge in front of me.

Okay, if you have plans, I

ll tell him just that. I just thought it would be nice to all get together. We haven

t sat at the same dinner table in a long while. I

m sorry.

I immediately feel guilty. I know she means well, and if she asked me, I wouldn

t have been so upset.

Mom, I didn

t mean anything about the idea. I just wish he would have considered that what I have going on in my life is just as important as what Junior has going on. If he would have asked, I might have reconsidered, but he didn

t. He just demanded.

Before my mother can speak, there

s a knock on the door. My mother tells Max to come in. She looks at her watch.

Oh shoot, I

m sorry. I didn

t realize the time,

my mom tells her.

Oh, do you need me to come back?

A plan begins to formulate in my head.

Max, I was just notified we

re having a family dinner tonight at Stella

s. Would you like to join us?

I ask.

Max looks a little taken aback. She looks to me and then to my mother. My mother smiles.

Yes, please, we would love to have you there! After all, you are pretty much part of the family now.

I know she

s not just being nice. My mom genuinely means it. I know she absolutely respects and adores Max or else this partnership thing would have never been offered.
