It wasn’t that funny.

Abbey punched the speed dial on her phone. “I’m out. Did you need anything before I come back?” It must have been Julie. “It went great.” She grinned and listened. “Really? Are you sure?” Then she checked her watch. “Okay. See you tomorrow… Yeah, he’s here.” She listened again. “Really? Okay, I’ll tell him.” She pocketed her phone and turned to him. “I have the rest of the day off.”

“Wow. Good for you. I guess some people are special.” He took her hand as they strolled back to his SUV.

“You also have the rest of the day off.”

That stopped him in his tracks and he turned to her. “What?”

“You heard me. We’re free birds. What should we do? Go to a movie, go out to dinner, go—”

He yanked her forward and crushed his lips over hers. She sputtered and laughed before falling into his kiss like a wicked woman should. “We’re going back to your place and we’re fucking like bunnies all night long.”

“The romance never ends with you,” she said, settling another kiss on his lips.

“I try.”

Two hours later, they were sweaty and happy on Abbey’s wrecked bed. Her cell phone rang.

“Let voice mail get it,” Blake said, barely able to move after the last orgasm.

Abbey laughed into her pillow before dragging the phone off the night table. “I can’t. It might be—” She bolted up like a rocket. “My agent. Shit, it’s my agent. Hello,” she said.

Blake sat up, too, his ribs still brutally sore, but the pain was worth every minute he got to be with Abbey. Watching her face as she listened was killing him.

“They did?” she asked, untangling her legs from the sheet. “Oh.” This time she wasn’t as happy. “Really?” she said and Blake waved her to finish. “Okay. Yes. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.” She listened. “Yeah. I plan on it. Thanks. Bye.” She ended the call and set her phone back on the table.

“Well, what happened?” He was afraid to ask.
Did you get it?

Abbey covered her face in her hands. Her shoulders shook visibly.

Shit. Tears.

He put a hand on her shoulder, but had no idea what to say. “Aw, Ab.”

But when she wiped her tear streaked cheeks and looked up at him, she had the biggest, brightest smile on her face. “I got it! Oh my God, I got it!” She hugged him before leaping off the bed and dancing around the room, a vision of the most beautiful body he’d ever seen. Her happiness burst out of her in waves of sunshine.

Blake stood up and watched her, the love of his life, the woman he’d die for. When she came into his arms, he held her tight.

“I knew you were going to get it,” he told her. “It was only a matter of time before people recognized what you have to offer.”

Abbey pulled away and looked into his eyes. “You recognized it.”

He nodded and grinned. “Yeah. I’m smart that way.” He eased some hair behind her ear. “Look, this is a rough town. You know I’m here for you no matter what. Every step of the way.”

“I know.” She nodded. “And I’m not letting you go.”

“Nope.” He gave her an Eskimo kiss and his dick perked up as her lips brushed across his. “You are definitely stuck with me.”

“Good thing since it just so happens that I’m stuck on you too.”

Blake squeezed her tight, his love and pride for this woman more profound as each day passed. “I’m going to make you the happiest woman in the world,” he promised, grazing his lips over her ear.

“You already have.” With that, she took him down to the bed and took him on a ride he wouldn’t soon forget.

Danger Zone

New York Times Bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann, on Danger Zone:

“Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for romances set in the world of movie-making. But in DANGER ZONE, Dee J. Adams not only uses her years of experience in Hollywood to create a delightfully gritty and authentic world filled with insider insights; she also creates a cast of very real and likable characters. I especially loved stunt-woman Ellie Morgan’s kickass, take-no-prisoners attitude, and her long-time friendship with her best-friend and roommate Ashley. As for the book’s hero, Quinn Reynolds? I’m in love. This one’s on my keeper shelf.”

Starred Review from Library Journal:

“Highly recommended for romantic suspense fans, especially those who like stories with complex relationships.”

Dangerously Close

4 stars – Romantic Times:

“Witty dialogue and unyielding suspense make for another great story in the Adrenaline Highs series. The hero and heroine are fully developed and emotionally rich, and the best part of the novel is the developing relationship between them from strangers to friends to lovers. Readers will enjoy spending time with these memorable characters.”

5 stars – The Book Vixen:

“Dangerously Close
is hands down my favorite book in this series thus far and it’s easily one of my top picks for 2012. I was completely and utterly drawn into this story. The strong romance balanced out perfectly with the suspense element.”

She’s a dog lover all the way, with a fondness towards Boxers and Pit Bulls. She is a member of several organizations, including Romance Writers of America and SAG-AFTRA.
